We booked an exclusive girls' wellness trip and, apart from two less than pleasant experiences, were thrilled. We stayed there from October 1 to October 5, 2025, and tried everything. The gym is adequate, with a sea view, but the equipment could use some maintenance and possibly oiling. The fitness and wellness/sauna area is a dream, with a sea view.

The staff is very attentive and friendly. Room service is poorly organized. Breakfast has deteriorated considerably compared to our last visit; instead of freshly cooked eggs, the scrambled eggs and fried eggs were slightly moldy under the heat lamp. Decaffeinated coffee is only available from a sachet. The breakfast room exudes the charm of a train station concourse, overcrowded and very noisy. Our conclusion: if we book there again, we won't book during the high season/holiday season.

I had a nice, spacious room facing the lake. The room was too warm for my taste (and there was no way to change that), and leaving the balcony door open wasn't an option since it was a wraparound shared balcony. I was a bit annoyed with the service staff about the phone call I had made beforehand. I was obviously disturbing them at such an early hour.

The Bayside Hotel was the last stop on our North Sea tour and was supposed to be the highlight of the trip. We had booked a suite with a direct sea view and had correspondingly high expectations. Unfortunately, the stay was disappointing in several respects. Upon entering the room, the poor condition of the room was immediately apparent. The light gray sofa was heavily soiled and covered in numerous stains, the toilet drain was discolored, and the balcony had chipping paint and was heavily soiled with cobwebs – a condition that remained unchanged throughout our entire stay. These aspects give the impression that basic cleaning and maintenance measures are being neglected. The food service was particularly critical. Upon check-in, we were served a drink with a visibly dirty and unhygienic glass – I haven't seen anything so disgusting in 40 years – an unacceptable condition for a hotel of this category. This impression was confirmed at breakfast: Glasses were dripping from dishwater, left undried, and unchecked for cleanliness on the buffet, and plates had residue sticking to them. Buffet items were carelessly placed on the buffet in huge quantities to avoid refilling. The buffet presentation appeared careless and designed for mass production. The handling of dishes, which still had moisture and dishwashing residue, was also well below the expected hygiene standards. The service was also impersonal and inattentive. A greeting or question from staff was rare, which further reinforced the overall disappointing impression. The only positive aspects worth mentioning are the outstanding location directly on the Baltic Sea and the impressive view from the suite. However, these aspects cannot compensate for the significant deficiencies in cleanliness, maintenance, and service quality. Conclusion: Despite its excellent location, the Bayside Hotel is, in my opinion, not recommended in its current condition. The stay did not meet the advertised standard or the expectations of a four-star hotel. Rating: 2 out of 5 stars – solely for location and view.

A very nice hotel right on the beach, with friendly staff, great leisure activities, and good parking. The gourmet breakfast buffet is highly recommended; there's something for every taste, and the Jungle Restaurant is also worth a visit. The only drawback was that we weren't allowed to take our dog to the beach. The dog beach was a good 2.5 km away.

WEDDING... we celebrated our wedding at the Bayside.... Suffice it to say, we had a wonderful celebration, but the journey to get there was very difficult, nerve-wracking, and filled with speechlessness. My fiancée shed many tears. We experienced several staff changes, as well as many newly hired head chefs... The icing on the cake, however, was that two weeks before the wedding, the Bayside didn't have a head chef, and the chef from its own rooftop restaurant had to rescue our menu. There were two employees and two apprentices in the kitchen who worked exceptionally hard to make the celebration a success.... The FNB manager deserves special mention for his poor performance. The price-performance ratio is not right... if we could turn back time, we wouldn't have our wedding there! Conclusion: The best possible approach was implemented, but if you have high standards, it's far from sufficient for a 4-star superior hotel.

We stayed at the Bayside Hotel from September 29, 2025, to October 3, 2025. Our first impression was positive, but the longer we stayed, the more deficiencies we noticed. Our room (a suite) was anything but clean: There were dust filaments in the corners, mold in the shower, and the toilet was already dirty upon arrival. A lamp didn't work, even though we had reported it to reception several times. Old cobwebs hung on the terrace, which had obviously not been removed in a very long time. The cleanliness was simply catastrophic: • A bottle of champagne and a bucket we had ordered remained in the room for three days until we spoke up. • An old capsule, which wasn't ours, was still in the coffee machine—we had to rinse it several times before we could use it. • After ordering wine, the used glasses were simply put back in the cupboard—unwashed and smelling strongly. After that, we couldn't use any more glasses. Absolutely unhygienic! Although we were given a "slight" reduction in the room rate, the value for money is far from right. Such conditions are unacceptable for a hotel of this category. The only positive aspects worth mentioning are the spa area (clean and well-maintained) and the breakfast (ample and delicious). If you're just coming for the view, this might be the right place for you – but if you value cleanliness, you should avoid the Bayside Hotel.

The hotel's location is beautiful, and the view of the Baltic Sea is breathtaking. However, the hotel is very run-down for its price (€280 for one night!). The walls are riddled with holes, corners are worn everywhere, and the dishes are broken everywhere. In our room, there was a hole in the back of the bed. The terrace was absolutely filthy. Unfortunately, for the price, I wouldn't recommend it.

Superb hotel! The location is fantastic, but the balcony with a sea view is sheltered from the wind. Unfortunately, the two of us had two dirty glasses (leftover orange slices?) in the restaurant, and then, unfortunately, dried food residue on the freshly set fork. However, the staff was consistently friendly, helpful, and had a relaxed atmosphere. The evening at the bar was fun 😉

We stayed at the Bayside in August 2025. First of all, the hotel's location is unique for the Baltic Sea. We had a room with a partial sea view. It had a lovely balcony with a great view, but like many hotels on the Baltic Sea, there's no air conditioning, and it was unbearably hot at night. Without the door open, it would have been impossible to sleep properly. Given the price, it should have been included. Overall, though, we had a pleasant stay. We wouldn't recommend the restaurant, however. The steak (upscale) wasn't particularly good, and the service left a lot to be desired. There are plenty of options for nice dining nearby, though. A small suggestion for the hotel management: I find it rather outrageous to charge €25 for an early check-in and €25 for a late check-out, given the prices, and I think it's likely to be received negatively by customers. It's either possible or it isn't. Charging an additional, disproportionate fee for this... well...! We were rather reluctant to do so! If we ever stay in Scharbeutz again, the Bayside is worth considering!

Nice room, although the cleaning was a bit neglected. The parking situation is terrible! The underground parking garage is an absolute disaster, and the upper parking lot looks like the entrance to the delivery entrance. You have to be able to handle a large car. Tantrums are inevitable! Also, the internet and TV are off for much longer than an entire day. Breakfast is okay, but it could be better for a 4-star hotel.

Stayed September 12th - September 14th, 2025. Great location, friendly and sometimes helpful staff. Unfortunately, the shortage of skilled workers is also affecting the hotel. In the restaurant, you approach the staff and they shrug their shoulders and refer you to someone else. Then you stand around stupidly, waiting for someone to help you. Unfortunately, the hotel is showing its age. Cables hang from the ceiling in the roof, the paint is peeling off the ceiling of the elevators in the lobby, the furniture in our room was damaged, the cover is falling off the shower hose, etc. This is unfortunately reflected in the hotel as well. I still don't understand why hotels that rely so heavily on guest satisfaction fail to maintain service and the building's condition. People don't skimp on maintenance! Furthermore, our room was only half-heartedly cleaned. The vanity mirror was covered in dust, and the shower wall was full of limescale, and unfortunately, there was also mold. I didn't have the nerve to deal with it for two nights. Ultimately, the hotel needs to ensure that everything is top-notch and not point it out to the guest when the ball has already fallen into the hole. The Roof is, to say the least, a disaster in terms of layout and service. Starting with the absolutely standard breakfast. Given the prices, I would have expected more than run-of-the-mill. Has anyone from the hotel ever tried to take sausage or yogurt from the second row at breakfast? How can they expect guests to have to squat to get their food? In general, the layout and space of the buffet and restaurant are abysmal. Cramped, cramped, and even more cramped. How can you plan something like that... In the restaurant, the tables are placed far too close together to accommodate more guests? There's only one way everywhere, so I doubt that fire safety is adequate here. The Wi-Fi in the hotel is horribly slow, even if you even get halfway decent reception. In 2025, you can expect more. I also wonder why there's a staff elevator. The staff diligently use the other elevators. Unfortunately, there are so many problems with this hotel that I can't recommend it and won't be coming back. You can always get a second chance if the food in a restaurant isn't good, but in a hotel with so many construction sites? No thanks. Talking to the staff wouldn't have helped either.

Bayside Hotel Scharbeutz – Room 210 The hotel is considered the "best address in town" – unfortunately, our experience was the opposite. FIRST OF ALL: Treat yourself to a vacation apartment!!! 1000 times better <3, because Scharbeutz is an absolute dream! Room & Cleanliness: Spacious, comfortable bed. But: no air conditioning, glass walls and windows not cleaned, terrace and room full of cobwebs, cheap plastic plants, real plants neglected. Glasses were only wiped down instead of replaced (tested and confirmed, see pictures). The bed frame looks like cats have had a romp on it. The hallways are more reminiscent of a youth hostel than a 4-star superior hotel (carpets would dampen the sound, but there aren't any). Service: Little sense of responsibility. Problems were reported but never resolved. Example: Champagne: According to the room folder, the bottle arrived with no discount, but with two wet glasses and a €5 delivery fee (no matter what you order, you have to pay €5 each time. Something I've never experienced before). Housekeeping knew nothing and never got back to me. It wasn't until the next morning that a lady at the front desk took care of the matter, after her colleague had rejected everything. Breakfast & Dining: Disappointing "premium breakfast," worn dishes, not a 4-star selection. Dogs roamed the breakfast room – allergy sufferers say hello. The rooftop restaurant sometimes delivers plates, sometimes a plastic box for sushi to the room (also seen in the pictures). Wellness: Cell phone ban is ignored, even filming takes place in the pool. No control. Noise: From 8 a.m., cleaning noise, beeping elevator, slamming doors – sleeping in is impossible. Price & Stars: I paid almost the same price for my stay at the Bayside (4-star superior) as I had just before at the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten in Hamburg (5-star). The same services were provided both times – but the differences are worlds, if not universes. How the star rating came about here is a mystery to me, as is the relatively good rating given by some other guests. Conclusion: Scharbeutz is fantastic, the Bayside is not. For a hotel with 4-star superior standards, the cleanliness, service, and quality are simply unacceptable. The price-performance ratio is disastrous. 📸 I'm attaching recent photos from the end of August, beginning of September 2025 – they probably speak for themselves. I don't expect a response or apology/compensation from the Bayside. The opportunity was missed on-site. ⭐ 1 out of 5 stars

Hello and good day If you're planning to book at Bayside in Scharbeutz, I highly recommend getting travel cancellation insurance. I booked before my cancer diagnosis, and now I'm undergoing chemotherapy, and no one at the hotel cares that I can't go on this trip. They're saying this booking can't be canceled. My wife passed away in May 2025. Before I forget, the trip is scheduled for November 2025. A very disappointing result for me as a customer. Hartmut Pieper

First of all, the beautiful location directly on the beach is a unique selling point. However, the hotel seems to rely on this feature and thrives on it. On cushions and blankets, signs of wear and tear on all the furniture, and finger-width limescale on the sink, shower, and toilet. Even crumbs left over from previous occupants can be found without much investigation. Room service is very superficial. The room temperature is too warm and stuffy, especially at night; there is no air conditioning. The breakfast room is so crowded with tables, cramped, and noisy that breakfast at the main train station would be more comfortable. The breakfast buffet, however, is standard and rather lacking in quality. Instead of fresh juice, there is sugary concentrate from the vending machine. You can't accommodate more people in this limited space, and the result is a feeling of absolute cramping and discomfort. On the newly set tables, there are piles of bread leftovers from previous occupants; the table legs have obviously not been cleaned for months and are covered in multiple layers of food. At the buffet, enormous quantities of scrambled eggs are produced in the morning, which then sit in the warming basin to dry for hours. In the restaurant area, too, service and cleanliness could be improved; here, too, newly set tables are still dirty from the previous occupant. The service staff do what they are supposed to, but no longer. A friendly word is completely missing. In the bar, the usual offering of small snacks or nuts is completely unknown. In summary, given the great location, this is entirely appropriate; the above-mentioned drawbacks, which unfortunately make the whole place seem a bit lackluster, are simply something you have to accept.

We were there for 6 days in July. The location is great, and the new Presidential Suite is very nice. Unfortunately, that's about all the positive information we had. We had many discussions, for example, regarding a table reservation in the breakfast room (because tables were reserved for other people at any time), where the restaurant said yes, but at reception they said yes, but only until 8:30 a.m. Unfortunately, not all reception staff are friendly. Room cleaning was terrible; we had to clarify a lot of things and complain, then the housekeeper (who was very helpful and friendly) took care of it, and it worked. There aren't enough seats in the breakfast room (it's always dirty) compared to the number of guests, hence the pushing and shoving and waiting for a table. There are parking spaces, but if you leave and come back, it's a waste of time to find one (it would be easier if they gave out a parking space number for each room). It was the worst vacation we've ever had. Mr. W. The manager is constantly in denial and takes days to respond to emails. I've never experienced anything like this on vacation, not even when I worked at a travel agency.

We had a wonderful extended weekend in Scharbeutz on the 4th floor with a partial view of the Baltic Sea. The room was modern, very well-maintained, and offered a stunning view of the sea. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating, making us feel welcome from the very beginning. The breakfast was a highlight: a large selection, fresh, and varied – truly a perfect start to the day. There are also numerous restaurants in the surrounding area, so there's something for every taste. Additionally, there are many attractions nearby, making the stay varied and interesting. The overall atmosphere in the town is very pleasant and inviting. We were particularly impressed by the spa and wellness area. The treatments, especially the massage, were incredibly soothing and highly recommended. The only minor criticism: the price is a bit high overall. Nevertheless, the positive experience far outweighs the negative – we would come back anytime!

I've been to the Bayside Hotel five times, but not for vacation, but out of necessity, as I have to renovate an apartment in Scharbeutz, and I just can't move on.😱 I've stayed in a few hotels over the years, but I have to say that the staff is genuine and not fake-friendly.🤗 They're always there to help. Wherever they can, they rush to help quickly, and it never seems to get annoying.😎 But what's more, this staff, out of passion for their job and also out of conviction for the people, is so genuinely committed to doing justice to everyone.🥰 They seem to treat children, the elderly, and the disabled with respect, which isn't something you can take for granted these days.🥸 The location is simply stunning; the view of the sea takes your breath away. The wellness area is clean and opens quickly, as is the spa department, where a friendly Andrea is always there to help.💇🏻‍♀️ And I also send my warmest regards to little Andrea.💃🏼 Great food, great service, reasonable price for the standard, the service, the location, and the food. 😋 I'll be back tomorrow to annoy you...🤠 🙋🏻‍♀️ An early hello to all the staff, keep up the good work.😃 And I hope you know who I am. The rooms are large and spacious, but unfortunately a bit dated. We had a sea view room, and the view was truly beautiful. Soft drinks from the minibar were included in the price, which we appreciated. The beds are okay, but the pillows weren't our thing. You can occasionally hear noises from adjoining rooms, but it's not a problem. The reception staff are very friendly, and the location is truly unbeatable. You can walk onto the beach from the hotel. We especially liked the spa area. The breakfast is plentiful and delicious.

The truly fantastic location is the only thing this hotel can offer that's compelling. The breakfast is too uninspired and always the same for a 4-star hotel. The breakfast rooms are too small. The new room category, introduced in April, doesn't have air conditioning. Ventilating the room is difficult. The room temperature is often uncomfortably high. Hotel management ignores both personal and written customer complaints. The management staff can be denied at the reception desk. The few dedicated hotel employees unfortunately cannot compensate for this misconduct by the management. The vacation was disappointing; the hotel management is not interested in reaching an agreement. A vacation at this hotel is not recommended.

Anyone expecting four-star quality and an atmosphere commensurate with the hefty price tag in one of the newly advertised "Beachfront Superior" rooms will be disappointed. The room felt like a half-finished construction site: a strong smell of building materials and air laden with construction dust (which caused me serious health problems for two weeks after my stay), visible defects such as adhesive residue, makeshift carpet edges, damaged paneling, and a noticeably high temperature with no cooling option (no air conditioning). A restful night's sleep was impossible under these conditions. The "customer service" deserves particular negative mention, however. I repeatedly tried to contact the hotel after my stay to clarify the situation. Several of my emails went unanswered for weeks. Only after I set a deadline and announced further steps did I receive a response within just a few hours, assuring them that my concern would be addressed immediately. I waited in vain for a good week for any response from the hotel. I then contacted the hotel again and received an explanation that the contact person in question had been ill for the past few days. However, they again promised that they would address the matter immediately, stating that my "concern was very important to the hotel." Since then, the hotel has remained silent, following what seems to be a familiar pattern. A good eight weeks have now passed since my first written complaint, without the hotel making any serious effort to communicate, let alone resolve my complaint. For a hotel in this price category, such indifferent treatment of guests is, in my opinion, unacceptable! In addition, there was a back-and-forth charge for the considerable overnight stay on my account that I couldn't understand. Here, too, I had asked for an explanation from the hotel, which has yet to be provided! Breakfast confirmed the overall disappointing impression of my stay. The service staff were barely present or seemed unmotivated to create a welcoming atmosphere. The table was so dirty upon arrival that I initially wanted to clean it myself. Only when I visibly made an attempt to do so was it briefly wiped down. References to other breakfast offerings, such as a freshly prepared omelet, were only discovered by chance; a circumstance that suggests that while the hotel theoretically offers four-star service, it shows little interest in actively making it available. Cutlery was also missing, which was only available upon request from one of the few approachable service staff, and the room itself was so densely packed with tables and chairs that a person of average build could barely move between them. Overall, the restaurant has an atmosphere that doesn't encourage lingering, giving the impression that breakfast should be quick and as inexpensive as possible. The hotel could certainly score points with its location directly on the beach. In the Beachfront Superior rooms, however, you're sitting on the balcony in such a way that you don't want to linger there at all. Other hotels solve such problems with privacy screens and similar devices. Disappointing for the price – unfortunately, not a recommendation I've been traveling regularly to the Baltic Sea since I was a child, and for over 30 years. When the hotel was built a few years ago, I was thrilled by the sight – every year I walked past it and dreamed of staying there one day. For my girlfriend's 5th anniversary, I finally fulfilled that dream and booked a night. Unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing – especially considering the high price. • Room condition: The room was clearly in need of renovation. There was extensive damage above the bed, which gave a very unkempt impression. • Technical defects: The Wi-Fi and ventilation didn't work at all in our top-floor room. This made it stuffy and extremely warm – sleep was impossible. • SPA area: The salt sauna was out of service. According to other guests, it had been for several days. • Cleanliness: The provided bathrobe was stained, and there were a few other unclean details. The sleepless night left us so exhausted on the day of our departure that we had to cut short our trip home and spend an extra night in Hamburg – which resulted in further costs. My written complaint only received a request for photos, and after that, I received no further response. All in all, the hotel feels impersonal and overpriced, as if their main goal is to make as much money as possible. If the location isn't a priority, you'll certainly find better alternatives in the area.

Upon arrival: Unfortunately, our room wasn't cleaned properly. Our minibar was open, and the snakes were lying broken and scattered around the closet. The worst part was our bathroom. There was feces on the floor, tiles, and toilet! We informed reception, and it was immediately cleaned and disinfected. At this price, something like this should never happen. Breakfast was rather average for this price, with no variety! Fruit salad and wholemeal bread weren't replenished. The answer was: Unfortunately, it's OFF. The Wi-Fi was very slow in this hotel. On the plus side, however, was the sauna area. It was very nice, with a great view of the sea. The reception staff were very friendly.

We wanted to end the beautiful day on the roof terrace today. We politely asked a waiter if it was possible to have just a drink, to which he replied yes. We then sat down at a free table and waited and waited and waited. Three waiters were on the terrace and noticed us, but none of them bothered to take our orders. We were simply ignored. After almost 20 minutes, we got up and left. The waiters didn't say a word to us. That was an absolute no-go for us. It's a shame, since we had actually planned to hold our Christmas party with 20 people, including an overnight stay, at this hotel.

The jungle restaurant is more for families with children; we thought it was fun, but it somehow doesn't fit. Reception was overwhelmed, as there was obviously no management. Complaints (massive noise day and night) were dismissed, and letters went unanswered. Only after repeated inquiries did you receive an email that was obviously generated by an AI. This doesn't live up to the company's standards.

The hotel's location is good. We had a room with a sea view. The room wasn't really cleaned upon arrival. The bedspreads were covered in marks from previous guests, lint was all over the floor, the TV was hanging crookedly on the wall, as were the lampshades, the mattresses were sagging, some furniture was yellowed, and, above all, the air conditioning in the room and hallways was terrible. On the second day, one of the four elevators broke down, two of which lead to the rooftop on the 5th floor. This led to long waits to get upstairs. The breakfast was okay, but unfortunately, the service wasn't what one would expect. Some of the plates and glasses were dirty, and they cleared them only upon request. The staff (who don't speak German) stood in one spot and conversed in their native language. The rooftop was a bit like a "doorman company," as you were sometimes scrutinized and received only a limited amount of friendly welcome. The reception staff were really nice and informative. We would like to see at least the cleanliness and service at the Roof improved for the price, because we would like to come back.

The entire ambience in the hotel is well-thought-out, high-quality, and invites you to unwind from the very first moment. The wellness area is a real highlight: a sauna with a lake view, relaxing treatments, and stylish relaxation areas – just the right place to recharge your batteries. Every detail is just perfect here. Another highlight was definitely the extensive breakfast with a view of the Baltic Sea – a truly fantastic start to the day. You can't get more of a "vacation feeling" in the morning. 🧘‍♀️☀️ I'll definitely be back – Bayside is now my go-to place for short breaks with a big impact. Absolutely recommend it!

We had to call a technician twice because something was broken in our room, and both times they responded very quickly. The reception was also very friendly and professional. The only criticism: Breakfast is now served on the 5th floor in the rooftop bar. Unfortunately, the area is very narrow and convoluted, which regularly leads to bottlenecks at the buffet. The atmosphere there often seems hectic and hectic – too many guests in too small a space. The large, closely spaced tables and chairs also make it difficult to move around. During our first stay, breakfast was more relaxed. The bar had more charm without the impression of a hectic breakfast. Recommendation: Sit at the high tables near the bar, where it's quieter. Despite this minor drawback, the Bayside Hotel remains a definite recommendation—especially for those who value location, comfort, and high-quality service.

Overpriced. Unfriendly = expensive hostel with the smell of a hospital/nursing home. We went to the Bayside because of the rooftop and the spa, but everything else is so bad. I'm at a loss for words. Not only is the staff so unfriendly, but my English-speaking friend was blatantly lied to twice upon check-in – once that the room had a sea view...he was told, and when he asked why it didn't...he was simply charged another €100+. We also couldn't really use the spa for the first few days because we were given the wrong times. "Service" or whatever it was at the Bayside was just awful... At breakfast, used plates and cups pile up, inquiries are rudely dismissed, and the only friendliness is at the coffee machine among the guests when we collectively complained that all the "clean" cups and glasses were so dirty again – just clean the dishwasher filter – a youth hostel for €300??? The situation continued in the rooms - newly renovated but with plastic beds like in a hospital and the smell of a retirement home... Absolutely horrible!!! Even inquiries on the phone were often ignored or even worse, we asked for a kettle - and it came, but it was a disgusting, dirty thing with water left in it and bits of food floating around in it... and I understand if you only have decaf coffee pods left and no one wants to buy new ones. There's a Rewe supermarket 400 meters away, maybe go there and buy more coffee pods instead of just trying to sell your guests, who pay €300+ a night, junk... In general, if you like expensive and bad food, have fun at Bayside. If you like to be served snottily or not at all as a guest, then get the same treatment and I don't even want to start on the guest toilets... that's a horror film in itself... Minus 5 stars there!

The Bayside was once a real gem. The hotel had charm and a wonderful location; you felt like you were in top hands. The abandonment of the large restaurant and breakfast area and the relocation to the much too small roof terrace have largely destroyed the hotel's charm. The predominantly unprofessional, unfriendly, and careless staff and the lack of cleanliness, especially in the spa and restaurant areas, could be remedied with good staff, but the renovations that have been carried out probably won't. A real shame!

We stayed in the brand-new Beachfront Superior Room. It's very chic and has a sensational view of the Baltic Sea. It would have been perfect if it had air conditioning! We had a rather restless night, as we had to sleep with the window open, which was very noisy due to the location. For these new rooms, the breakfast rooms have been relocated to the 5th floor. The organization here still needs improvement. The service at the reception is excellent! The other service staff often seem understaffed or overwhelmed. The wellness area is great, and the pool water is pleasantly warm. A real plus! Overall, it was a very nice stay. Without air conditioning, we certainly won't book this room again in the summer.

Wir reisen ganz viel durch die Welt und waren in schon sehr vielen guten und weniger guten hotels. Aber das bayside ist bis jetzt das schlechteste hotel was die Sauberkeit betrifft. Für einen Zimmerpreis ab 300 Euro erwarte ich mehr....

I've been a guest at this hotel at regular intervals for the past 10 years. Previously, it was: great location, very nice rooms, very good breakfast room (and restaurant) with a large outdoor terrace on the 1st floor. Attractive rooftop bar with a large outdoor area and a party atmosphere until late into the night. Excellent restaurant and bar on the 5th floor. That's about the past: now it's: Unfriendly, unengaged staff who seem untrained in the culinary arts and completely overwhelmed. Due to the closure of the restaurant on the first floor (to maximize profits by building new guest rooms), breakfast is now only available on the fifth floor (poor / see other recent reviews), and with unreasonable routes from the buffet to the table in the new "winter garden": the Bayside's previous unique selling point: the open-air terrace on the roof of the hotel has now been scrapped, just as the well-attended nightclub was years ago (replaced by the "children's" restaurant Jungle with burgers): just as poorly attended as the (formerly) well-attended restaurant on the fifth floor: currently attended by 10-18 guests in the evenings. To make matters worse, one gets the impression that the criticism of the last few months doesn't interest anyone in management. Unfortunately, for us, the conclusion from what was once a favorite hotel for long weekends remains: never again: a no-go for a 4-star hotel. A really great hotel, with everything you could wish for. Dogs are allowed even at breakfast. The service is particularly nice and friendly. The rooms are very well maintained, clean and even have a coffee machine. Our view was directly over the Baltic Sea, which was very nice. The spa area with sauna invites you to switch off. The hotel is right on the beach, right in the heart of Scharbeutz. I've been there several times and enjoy it every time. The rooftop bar and restaurant is also great. We had booked two nights at the BAYSIDE Hotel in Scharbeutz. Unfortunately, our 8-month-old baby became ill before our stay - a streptococcal infection, confirmed by a doctor. We sent the certificate to the hotel and made a polite request via Booking to rebook. But both the certificate and the request for a simple change of date were rigorously rejected by the hotel - without any compassion or accommodation. It is incomprehensible to us how one can treat a family so coldly and rigidly, especially when such a small child is seriously ill. We would have expected a little humanity or goodwill - but here the pure interest in profit seems to take precedence over everything. We are disappointed and shocked by this callousness. We absolutely cannot recommend this hotel for families with children. Anyone hoping for understanding or hospitality has definitely come to the wrong place here.

Very good location with a nice view, but poor service. We had the sign “please clean the room” hanging on the door all day and asked reception to clean up the room several times. At 6 a.m. we asked for the room to be tidied, it didn't happen, around 7 a.m. we went back to reception and asked again that the room be tidied up. Around 8 o'clock in the evening, only the fresh towels were put down, the dirty dishes were left untouched. The breakfast buffet is very good, but if you come late you will be punished because it takes a very long time for things to be replenished. The waiters obviously see themselves as a nice addition who has no job. Even after a tip-off, they ignore the dishes used by the guests who are still sitting at the table, as well as the tables that are already free. The room was obviously recently done, so the ceiling of the balcony looks like a construction site ceiling. The ventilation in the bathroom doesn't work, so you have to leave the door open after showering so that the steam can escape and the mirror can be used. Conclusion: for over 300€ a night you expect service and that's in vain, so it's a shame...

A fantastically located hotel that impresses with a very successful design. The rooms are large and very stylishly furnished. The reception at the reception is very accommodating and friendly. The jungle restaurant may still have a certain appeal for the first quarter of an hour. After that, the light changes and recurring noises and effects become increasingly annoying. You also have to make compromises when it comes to the service. They don't fully live up to the hotel's standards. In addition, I have never experienced anywhere where you weren't allowed to go to the breakfast room (not the buffet) a minute or two early to sit down with a coffee. The friendly request was met with a curt rejection in return. However, the great view while having breakfast in the rooftop restaurant made up for it.

We moved into our junior suite with a direct sea view just before Easter. Yes, the view was fantastic and that was almost it. The only positive thing was that the minibar was refilled free of charge every day. Our room was incredibly dusty, the glasses were dirty (one was broken), the pillow had a blood stain and there was hair everywhere (including animal hair). We placed the glasses clearly visible along with the empty soap dispenser for the cleaner. Here's what happened: the same glasses were put into the cupboard and the soap dispenser was filled with water, leading us to believe it was now full. Well bravo - someone really enjoys their job... or As is well known, the fish starts to stink at the head. We and other guests we spoke to had this impression. The management doesn't seem to be interested in the complaints and no one feels responsible for the chaos during breakfast. Ultimately, new luxurious rooms, which are certainly very lucrative, are to blame for the breakfast area being so cramped. Every morning looking for a clean table. Reservation via QR code - one big joke! After a few days we got cutlery, cups and plates on our own. Everything was too busy. Nobody had the scepter in their hand. The buffet room must be a former storage room. Far too small and some dishes could only be accessed with acrobatics. Nobody thought about it, they just drove it into the wall. Breakfast at Coast used to be a dream. Well, we just had a nightmare breakfast. On the last day our son didn't want to come with us anymore because the pancake machine was always broken anyway. And at home he said, I'm so happy to be here again. Yes, we all were. By the way, we didn't notice a vacuum cleaner once. That would explain all the hair. Here the dirt is pushed from left to right.

Unfortunately, not a complete recommendation! Our room was good... direct sea view and the large balcony were really great. The cleanliness was excellent. We would have liked a smart TV... to keep up with the times... because the TV was so old that it didn't offer any mirror screening with our three new devices (Apple and Samsung). The TV was incompatible... The restaurant was really bad. Aside from the cleanliness, which left a lot to be desired, we had a terrible latte macchiato in the afternoon (watery and with almost no coffee in it), and before we could place our order, two employees told us they weren't responsible for ordering. After this afternoon experience, we decided not to eat there that evening, contrary to our plans. It's a shame because it's a great location... but it feels like it's not being maintained. The breakfast was truly terrible. We (two people) were turned away from a nice spot with a view that we had chosen (there were four chairs) by the staff with the words "2 people only upstairs please"... that wasn't so nice, but okay! Breakfast is until 11 a.m.... we were there at 10 a.m.! In addition to the completely soggy rolls, the bacon was missing for the entire hour (although one of the staff members noticed it and loudly demanded more). The scrambled eggs were also practically empty and cold the entire hour, swimming in an unidentifiable liquid. At around 10:15 a.m., everyone (including the bacon man) started loudly ordering the staff around us to rearrange everything (presumably for an upcoming celebration). So we were sitting at 1-2 tables for two in the rearrangement (and had just started breakfast). The buffet was also hectically and loudly pushed together, and you practically felt like you were being kicked out. The quality of the food, along with the unappealing rolls, the missing bacon, and the cold scrambled eggs floating around, also left a lot to be desired. The "Bircher Muesli"... or what it was supposed to be... was dry, and the jam and sausage were also mediocre. The cheese tasted quite good! You can't go wrong with Nutella, and the croissants were okay too! I agree with the other reviewers that it has a cafeteria atmosphere and you definitely don't feel comfortable. We will have breakfast outside on the last day! The spa area is OK... also a great view, not a particularly diverse sauna... but for a short sauna session and a nice outdoor terrace to relax, OK! Unfortunately, here too... maintenance of the shelves is nonexistent... The wood is chipping in the saunas, and in one sauna, the sweat stains on the walls are clearly visible. The space between the wooden boards hasn't been cleaned in a while... It's dusty and sandy in there! The "detox drink" in the sauna was empty both days, and there are paper cups underneath... Sustainability? The trash can is completely dented, the flowerpots on the terrace are completely broken/broken... all in all, it seems as if nobody cares... It's a shame, given the hotel's location, which is REALLY great, and the staff (reception, cleaning, etc.) who did a really good job for us, the culinary aspect is so important... and that ruins the whole experience. We didn't visit the Jungle restaurant... there are good options in front of the hotel!

Meine Familie und ich, wir waren heute zum Osterbrunch im Bayside und ich muss sagen, es war der letzte Mist. Das kompl. Personal hatte keinen Plan und die Gäste mussten erstmal an der Türe lange anstehen, bis erst verspätet geöffnet wurde. Dann fing das Chaos an. Bis uns der richtige Tisch zugeordnet wurde, vergingen ca. 25 Minuten. Die Menschenschlange konnte durch das verwirrte Personal nicht gehändelt werden. Außerdem haben wir am Tisch selbst, nochmals 30 Minuten gewartet bis wir zumindest Getränke bestellen konnten. Danach fing es an ärgerlich zu werden, den auch die Schlange zum Buffet war ellenlang und als wir vor dem Essen standen, war bereits fast alles weg. Die Qualität vom Essen war grottenschlecht und nicht das Geld wert. Natürlich werden wir uns beschweren, denn soviel Geld für schlechten Service und noch schlechteres Essen, geht garnicht. Alles in allem können wir nur sagen, unsere Anreise hätten wir uns sparen können. Ich wünsche noch einen schönen Ostersonntag und meine Familie und ich denken immer noch an diesen fürchterlichen Osterbrunch.

Die Location bietet einen super Blick, aber das ist es auch schon. Das Essen ist einfach zu teuer, verglichen mit dem was man bekommt, denn die Beilagen sind z.B. nicht inkludiert und der Service und das Essen ist einfach nicht gut. Wir hatten ein Wiener Kalbschnitzel….welches nicht genießbar war, Zanderfilet….sehr klein, Crispy Duck Salat….. Entenfleisch viel zu trocken und ein Rinderfilet, welches gut war. Für den aufgerufenen Preis in Summe einfach zu teuer. Service wirkt gestresst und genervt. Zusammenfassend kann man sagen, dass wir uns nicht wohlgefühlt und zudem auch über alles geärgert haben, weil wir uns einen schönen Abend machen wollten. Wir werden dort auch zeitnah nicht mehr Essen, denn es gibt in der Nähe besseres.

Wir waren am Ostersonntag zum Brunch im Bayside. Es war gelinde ausgedrückt eine Katastrophe. Nachdem man im überfüllten Vorraum bei ganz schlechter Luft warten musste bis die Türen endlich verspätet geöffnet wurden bekam man vom überforderten Personal einenTisch zugewiesen. Bis alle Gäste platziert waren, haben wir keinen Kellner nur ansatzweise ausmachen können, bei dem man wenigstens etwas zu trinken hätte bestellen können….. denn das Buffet wurde immer noch bestückt und das Personal wuselte zwischen den wartenden Gästen mit Geschirrwagen und Tabletts mit Essen hin und her. Die Lautstärke sowie das Menschenchaos um einen herum kann man kaum in Worte fassen. Nach ca. einer halben Stunde konnten wir dann endlich unsere Getränke ordern, die uns dann ca. 25 Minuten. Später serviert wurden. Bei der Anzahl von Gästen war das allerdings keine Überraschung. Wir hatten uns zwischenzeitlich schon etwas vom Buffet geholt, welches allerdings schon recht schnell ziemlich leer gefegt war und der Nachschub auf sich warten ließ, sodaß von den angepriesenen Speisen nicht mehr alles vorrätig war. Auch die Qualität ließ zu wünschen übrig, was man eigentlich vom Roof nicht gewöhnt ist. Um einen herum sah und hörte man nur kopfschüttelnde und schimpfende Menschen, was natürlich und auch zu recht, die eh schon schlechte Stimmung verstärkte. Alles in allem war der Vormittag unterirdisch und wir hoffen sehr, daß sich hier das Management für weitere Events etwas einfallen lässt. Wir waren schon ganz oft Gäste im Bayside, sei es als Hotelgast oder Roofbesucher, und waren immer begeistert vom Service und dem Ambiente. Auch die letzte Silvesterparty war wirklich toll. Leider müssen wir aber sagen, daß es nach dem Umbau sehr viel schlechter geworden ist. Wir möchten nochmal betonen, dass wir in keinster Weise dem Personal die Schuld geben, denn sie waren trotz der Umstände freundlich. Wenn allerdings ein Mitarbeiter selbst zugibt, daß er mit diesem Chaos gerechnet hat und dies auch im Vorfeld schon kundgetan hat, muss man wohl nicht mehr viel dazu sagen. Wir hoffen, dass sich das Management einige Gedanken macht und wir in Zukunft wieder mit Freude das Bayside besuchen können.

Unfortunately the hotel is in a downward trend! The service is a complete disaster. Especially the 5th floor with far too little space at breakfast and also the staff who sometimes walked around haphazardly with dirty clothes. Sorry, but it was the last time for us 🫡

This was our second time vacationing in this hotel and this time we spent 4 nights at a hefty price of 1700 euros. Therefore, our impression is not based on one-off occurrences, but seems to be the rule in this hotel. The room was quite ok from the first impression. The view of the Baltic Sea is of course beautiful! But for the price we really expected more. We have experience with 4* hotels worldwide and expect certain standards for the money, especially in Germany. What we noticed negatively: -Dirty and broken children's chairs at breakfast. Anything but safe, especially for babies. We cleaned it first before use. The chairs should be cleaned by staff after each use. Works in other hotels too. -old or inferior mattresses. The beds are just lumpy. You were literally lying in a hollow. Back pain was inevitable. -the beds were not made for 2 days. In the morning we leave our room tidy and make the bed too. It is no longer necessary these days to put on new bed linen every day. However, it should be the case that the beds are at least freshly made. -When we moved in we had an empty pack of facial tissues. It was replaced the next day, but not stored in the container provided for the entire vacation. It's just a small thing, but it's still noticeable. The same with the glasses used. These were simply put there quickly instead of being put away properly. -on two days our closet just stood up. Nothing has been lost, but it makes a strange impression. Lots of little things that leave a negative impression of the top address in Scharbeutz. Too bad!

Great hotel, with a great ambience. Both restaurants are excellent. Breakfast leaves nothing to be desired. Magnificent view from the pool area directly over the Baltic Sea. However, I see room for improvement here and could do with more comfort. The old red tiles are not a hit. Staff 1A. Everyone very friendly and helpful. We'll be back.

We wanted to treat ourselves to something special and unusual for our 12th wedding anniversary. Savory pancakes... Unfortunately, it was neither special nor unusual. We were served quickly, and we weren't served that way afterward. The service left a lot to be desired. Knowing that the plates are a bit larger, you should think about where to place the plate and cutlery on the table. But no, they'd rather yell at the guest to make room so the waitress could serve the food. We were very disappointed with the food itself. The fisherman's pancake with smoked salmon, herring, and crab. All from a discount store. My wife had the diplomat's pancake with watery sauce, canned mushrooms, and very tough pork fillet. I feel sorry for the pig that it had to die twice. Conclusion... No thanks for nothing...

Delicious food – much of it homemade. The portions are generously sized. Fresh vegetables are served. Even when it's busy, service is quick. Very friendly staff. We'll be happy to come back.
