The two of us visited Bartman's Kitchen four times during our week-long vacation and enjoyed eight different dishes and two desserts. Everything was outstanding: great ingredients, prepared and presented to a fine dining standard. Vegetarians are also fully catered for. The ambiance is a welcome departure from the many large restaurants in the area. The excellent service completes the overall experience. We felt very comfortable. Conclusion: absolutely recommended!

The food? Absolutely top-notch! Anything beyond that, unfortunately, is just not up to scratch. We had reserved a table for four in advance, without any further questions or information being requested. On a very chilly evening, we were banished outside by a snippy waitress, even though the restaurant was mostly empty and remained empty. The service was generally so overwhelmed and listless that the really nice and hard-working chef often had to go out himself to serve tables. Unfortunately, the poor service really spoiled the really good and high-quality food. I hope the great kitchen team can improve their service.

Excellent food in a fantastic setting. A truly perfect evening!

Since this is a rather expensive restaurant, even by local standards, we had corresponding expectations regarding the food...so we didn't expect croutons in the salad, like those sold in every supermarket, nor a schnitzel "sunken" in very soft mashed potatoes, nor a meager appetizer for 19 euros that didn't even come with a bit of bread, nor a dishwasher that was clearly audible. It should also be mentioned that the vitello forello didn't impress us in terms of taste.

The prices are high, but this is reflected in the outstanding quality of the cuisine. Friendly and attentive service makes for a pleasant stay. Highly recommended.

Excellent acoustics and super friendly staff. Attention was paid to the smallest details, including replacing a crumpled napkin. The young chef also did a perfect job. Our plates were served personally from the kitchen. The recommended Bartmann's schnitzel with its special crust was perfect. They offer house-brand gin and rum. Definitely worth trying. We'll be back.

We've been regulars at Bartman's Kitchen since it opened and have never been disappointed. The food is always outstanding. The fish soup and truffle pasta are particularly delicious and hard to beat. I personally love the atmosphere, the great service, and the restaurant's playlist 🤪😉 It's always a little break from the stresses of everyday life. Our favorite place in Timmendorfer Strand.

Without reservation, this is a highly recommended restaurant. We stumbled upon it more by chance and tried several main courses: from fish to meat, from vegetables to salad, everything was perfect. The absolute highlight and a true delight: the lemon tart at the end, which is downright addictive. And no, it's not "too rich." A few more tips: 1. Be sure to follow the waiter's wine recommendation. 2. Advance reservations will be necessary, at least on weekends. 3. The ideal restaurant for a romantic dinner.

The entrecôte was solid and perfectly prepared, and the green asparagus and boiled potatoes were also excellent. But the Caesar salad with four small shrimp for €28 plus €5 for two buttered brown bread rolls was simply too much, sorry. The dressing was bland, there was hardly any Parmesan cheese, and few croutons. The portion size was also manageable. Apparently, a cook was missing due to an accident, which is okay. Still, a salad like that shouldn't be served to customers for that price. Even the liquor on the house doesn't help much.

We'd previously been to a few other restaurants in a similar price range and were disappointed. Considering the prices, the food was okay, but not particularly refined and not particularly good either. The service was polite, but not overly accommodating. It was quite pleasant to sit outside, but with at least five families visiting with (some large) dogs, some of whom had their noses on the table, it was a bit less than cozy.

Even when we spontaneously reserved a table in the afternoon, the team's service was courteous and extremely friendly. This continued in the evening...but above all, it was crowned with a fantastic succession of culinary delights. Bartman's Kitchen made our last day of vacation unforgettable. The very high quality of the products, a lovely, tasteful ambiance, and refined finesse in the dishes make for a truly enjoyable dining experience in Timmendorfer Strand. Thanks to the team for this wonderful, unforgettable evening.

Review for "Bartmann" We stumbled upon the "Bartmann" restaurant on the beach promenade by chance and immediately wanted to try it out. After an unsuccessful request the day before, we were fortunately able to reserve a table for the following evening. Unfortunately, we weren't asked on the phone whether we wanted to sit inside or outside, and when we arrived, there was still plenty of space inside, but we were seated outside anyway. The seats inside remained unoccupied until we left. It was a shame to be lied to like that. The outside temperature was already a bit cooler, which somewhat dampened the evening. The service was unfortunately not entirely convincing: The waitress seemed a bit uncoordinated, had trouble ordering drinks, and couldn't answer all questions about the lactose-free diet without asking. Additionally, our drinks and dishes were sometimes mixed up, which somewhat disrupted the flow. The food, however, was absolutely outstanding – definitely one of the best meals we've ever had. The chef, who apparently also happens to be the owner, went out of his way to make a special sauce for us, which we greatly appreciated. The quality of the food was truly top-notch. Overall, the outstanding taste of the food saved the evening, but the service was a real weak point, which is also reflected in other reviews. We hope this can be improved, as the potential is definitely there!

Truly a milestone; I hardly expect such ambitious, yet not overly so, cuisine in a tourist hotspot. We've been here for the second time, a few weeks apart, with different staff, and I can say that this time, too, the food is full of love and the service is excellent; definitely worth a visit.

Unfortunately, the service doesn't match the prices. In short, it's completely overpriced. There's a huge gap between quality, quantity, and the price quoted. The service wasn't good, to put it politely. It's a shame, it looked good from the outside. We're really disappointed. I'd be happy to write to the owners with the details. If you're willing to pay €15 for a tiny, and to make matters worse, cold portion of crème brûlée, or €22 for a whopping two herring fillets with a handful of fried potatoes, then this is the place for you. The dishes are beautifully presented, but in my opinion, significantly overpriced. The service was sloppy and not particularly friendly, even though the restaurant was far from full at the time.

Unfortunately, the service couldn't keep up; with only three waiters and barely occupied tables, we were visited more often by the chef than by the other waiters combined. It's a shame, because the kitchen does a truly excellent job here.

The food was delicious. I'm giving it a star for that. But for me to eat it again, the chef needs to change restaurants. When the manager absurdly suspects her customers of being responsible for the (short-term) unavailability of cheap blankets, and you, as a customer, receive two calls about it on your way home, it completely overshadows the overall impression. It's simply a disgrace!

If you're looking for something special but also enjoy classic dishes, this small restaurant between the Greek and Italian restaurants is the place to be. The prices are reasonable and the staff very friendly, although in my opinion, they could be a bit more attentive. We've been there several times and would happily return.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A culinary highlight on Timmendorfer Strand! We had an excellent 5-course menu with wine pairing from Weingut Bauer, an evening we won't soon forget. Each course was creative, finely balanced, and beautifully presented: 1️⃣ Flamed fjord salmon with blood orange, bitter lettuce, melon, and buttermilk, fresh and elegant. 2️⃣ Scallops with peas and shellfish foam – tender and aromatic. 3️⃣ Grilled vegetable tart with green sauce and North Sea crab – surprisingly sophisticated. 4️⃣ Beef fillet "Rosa" with potato gratin, wild broccoli, and Café de Paris sauce, perfectly cooked. 5️⃣ Dessert "The Fallen Flowerpot," a sweet, playful finale with white chocolate mousse, fruit, ice cream, and crumble. Great wines were served, which perfectly complemented the courses. The service was warm and professional, and the ambiance was stylish yet relaxed. Bartmans Kitchen is a true gem. As soon as you enter, you can sense the attention to detail here – not just in the service, but especially in the kitchen. Every dish was a small work of art – both visually and taste-wise. The combinations are bold, innovative, and at the same time perfectly balanced. Classics are completely reinterpreted, and there are always sophisticated flavors that are rarely found in this form. For example, I had an appetizer with caramelized fennel, goat cheese espuma, and a hint of citrus – an unusual but ingenious combination that exploded on the tongue. The main courses were also a stunner: the sous-vide cooked lamb with lavender jus and celery cream was a poem. And the dessert with tonka bean, rhubarb, and smoked chocolate – simply world-class! What completely surprised me: The prices are more than fair for this quality and creativity. I would have easily expected twice as much at this level. The value for money is truly exceptional. The service was charming, attentive, but never intrusive – you can tell this is a team that pampers its guests with true passion. Ich habe schon in vielen guten Restaurants gegessen – aber Bartmann’s Kitchen in Timmendorf am Strand übertrifft wirklich alles! Es ist nicht nur ein Restaurant, es ist eine Bühne für kreative Kochkunst und geschmackliche Überraschungen, wie ich sie so noch nie erlebt habe. Schon beim Betreten spürt man, dass hier mit Liebe zum Detail gearbeitet wird – nicht nur im Service, sondern vor allem in der Küche. Jedes Gericht war ein kleines Kunstwerk – sowohl optisch als auch geschmacklich. Die Kombinationen sind mutig, innovativ und gleichzeitig perfekt ausbalanciert. Klassiker werden völlig neu interpretiert, und es gibt immer wieder raffinierte Aromen, die man so in der Form selten findet. Ich hatte z. B. eine Vorspeise mit karamellisiertem Fenchel, Ziegenkäse-Espuma und einem Hauch Zitrus – eine ungewöhnliche, aber geniale Komposition, die auf der Zunge explodierte. Auch die Hauptgänge waren eine Wucht: Das Sous-vide-gegarte Lamm mit Lavendeljus und Selleriecreme war ein Gedicht. Und das Dessert mit Tonkabohne, Rhabarber und geräucherter Schokolade – einfach weltklasse! Was mich völlig überrascht hat: Für diese Qualität und Kreativität sind die Preise mehr als fair. Ich hätte bei diesem Niveau locker das Doppelte erwartet. Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis ist wirklich außergewöhnlich gut. Der Service war charmant, aufmerksam, aber niemals aufdringlich – man merkt, hier arbeitet ein Team, das seine Gäste mit echter Leidenschaft verwöhnt. Fazit: Bartmann’s Kitchen ist mit Abstand das beste Restaurant, in dem ich je gegessen habe – eine echte Perle an der Ostseeküste. Wer gutes Essen liebt, sollte dieses Restaurant unbedingt erleben. Because of a “discovery in passing”, we first read reviews and then made a reservation for the next day… all in all rather disappointing: a bread with butter as, as I see it, a normal welcome greeting, is shown on the bill at the end, the service is obviously overwhelmed (… among other things, a starter was forgotten) and unfortunately the food does not live up to expectations (… among other things, tagliatelle drowned in cream sauce, or whatever the dish should be called…).

We were regretfully relegated to the terrace, but there was no reason for that! Not only was the service excellent, quick and friendly, we also really enjoyed the food! The prices were reasonable. We will come back!

Food definitely came from the microwave. 4 Wienerschnitzel for 100€, with cranberries (??????) and a cucumber salad from the bucket. It was a very expensive evening. The highlight was the drinks, which are served elegantly, but are poured from the 1 liter plastic bottle at exorbitant prices. The absolute laugh was the wild herb salad. That was weed 😪 So noble for snots with extreme demands, but not for us Rhineland-Palatinate!!! It was terrible and so overpriced that almost everything was returned. Nice service but price performance doesn't match. The next day, Saturday, I had a stomach ache all day. It's a shame that every shop in the area is like that.

In der Nebensaison haben wir freitags abends auch noch ohne Reservierung einen freien Tisch ergattern können. Von der ersten Begrüßung, bis zur Verabschiedung waren alle Servicemitarbeiterinnen äußerst freundlich, was man heutzutage leider nicht mehr oft erlebt. Unser Essen war hervorragend: eine butterzarte Lammkeule und ein riesiges, hauchdünnes Schnitzel in Braumalzpanade. Preislich war es für Timmendorfer Verhältnisse auch angemessen. Wir waren sehr zufrieden und kommen beim nächsten Urlaub in Timmendorf sehr gerne wieder👍🏻😃

The atmosphere and hospitality are positive. Unfortunately we were very disappointed with the food. The veal liver went back because the meat couldn't really be identified as liver. It was partly wavy, crusty and soggy underneath (structure was dissolving). My husband was apparently unlucky, because at the table next to us we were told that the dish had been inactive a few days before. It was withdrawn without any problems. But the alternative “Schnitzel Wiener Style” was also disappointing. In our opinion it was fried and very greasy. The prawns as a starter were well prepared, but almost oversalted and the prawns were unfortunately very rubbery. The pike perch fillet with truffle risotto was very nicely prepared and tasted good overall. However, I didn't feel well the following day, whether it was because of the shrimp or the zander remains uncertain. Maybe and hopefully we were just unlucky.

We were here on New Year's Eve where there was a set menu. The aperitif and the greeting from the kitchen were very tasty, but the other courses exceeded our expectations. At the next table there were dishes for vegetarians, which were also very well received. A clear recommendation from me, as there were unusual combinations for me too, but they were on point in terms of taste.

It's worth enjoying dinner here. Not only people who love eating out will enjoy this small restaurant, I think someone who likes wine wouldn't be out of place here either. You have to be aware that the tables are closer together, so certain things shouldn't be discussed there ;) We had nice conversations so it was okay :) We had fish soup and a crab sandwich as starters. The main course was rounded off with a duck leg and chestnut gnocci. It was great! Thanks to the team for decorating the table for the birthday :)
