Ayinger in der Au in München

Wow! That was a real stroke of luck. The service was super friendly and the food absolutely delicious. All of this in a comfortably furnished dining room, too. It was my first time there, but definitely not my last.

My husband and I were visiting Munich and, based on a recommendation, ate at Ayinger in der Au. Both the location and the service create a cozy, homey atmosphere. The food was a delight. We've rarely eaten so well outside. There's also a good selection for vegetarians and vegans. Keep up the good work! We'll be back.

The Kaiserschmarrn was the highlight of the evening - amazingly fluffy, light, and not greasy like so many others we’ve tried. Honestly, I keep thinking about it ever since - definitely worth coming back for! The menu is extensive, offering plenty of choices, and everything we ordered tasted great (paired, of course, with fresh cold beer). Service was quick, friendly, and impressively attentive. Overall, a great dinner and so far my favorite experience in a German restaurant.

Thanks to the waitress Marina Kleinschwärzer! Simply fantastic! The waitress puts her heart and soul into it – you immediately notice that hospitality is still alive and kicking here. From the moment you enter, you feel welcome and in good hands. The atmosphere is warm, authentic, and full of good cheer.

Wow, this is how gastronomy can work! A very friendly welcome, advice on the dishes and the different beers. High praise for the kitchen; the food was excellent. I'd be happy to come back on my next visit to Munich.

We stopped for coffee and a chat in the restaurant garden... Immediately got a table for two and our dog. Super friendly staff, they immediately provided a bowl of water for the dog without asking. The blueberry crumble with basil ice cream is highly recommended. We'll be back!

I was there with my wife and 4-year-old daughter. The service was super attentive, courteous, quick, and pleasant. There were pencils and a drawing pad for the little one. We sat in the (small) beer garden, which is very cozy. Accordingly, I can't comment on the interior. The clientele was well-groomed, and the overall ambiance was slightly upscale. Prices were average for Munich, I'd say. The food was very good, as was the home-brewed beer. A definite recommendation.

Absolutely recommended! Top service this evening, friendly and slightly accommodating. Absolutely fantastic childcare, you could almost say. Gold gems are distributed in the beer garden for them to search and collect. Something to paint and a super quick kids' meal, delicious and high-quality. Top-notch food with only slight room for improvement. It's nice that they still make their own sauces! And yes, that's a lot of work. Great ambiance outside and, to top it all off, a fantastic Kaiserschmarrn. Thank you for this lovely evening.

We had dinner there yesterday and were more than satisfied. The food was delicious. The service staff was very friendly and professional. The ambiance is typically simple, typical of a restaurant, but upon closer inspection, it's been lovingly crafted. This is now my go-to place when I'm in Munich.

The waiter is rude. We asked for a table for three when the restaurant was half empty, and he said no without further explanation. Perhaps because we were Spanish. I don't recommend this restaurant to Spanish speakers at all.

I managed to snag a table this evening at short notice. Attentive wait staff. Super cozy, slightly upscale atmosphere. You immediately feel at home. Small, straightforward menu (as it should be!!!) and very good food. Absolutely excellent value for money. We'll definitely be back!!!

It couldn't be better. Super quick, courteous reception and service, even though it was busy due to rain showers. Very friendly. Children are welcome and are given something to draw without asking. There's a children's menu with children's dishes. The food was truly excellent. Roast pork, cabbage and cheese spaetzle, a side salad, and Kaiserschmarrn (shrimp). Everything was absolutely fantastic. Lots of lovely, fresh Ayinger beers. We'll be back!

The service wasn't particularly courteous, and we had to wait quite a long time for the menu. The roast pork was good, definitely recommended. Prices are average for Munich. All in all, solid and worth a visit. It was relatively busy, which speaks for itself.

I was there with friends from home who wanted to enjoy good Bavarian food. All three of us were thrilled. The service (mostly from Gery) was also perfect! I also noticed that all the tables were really clean, not just quickly as usual. Unfortunately, the weather wasn't great, so we went inside. Unfortunately, I forgot to check for accessibility, so I don't know if I could come with my husband. The Kaiserschmarrn alone would have been perfect for him! Thank you so much!

Sauber sag I! Was für ein Paradebeispiel, wenn man aus einer alten Wirtschaft ein modernes gemütliches bayrisches Wirtshaus machen kann. Großes Kompliment an die Architekten! Sehr vieles ist mit Herz und Verstand und sehr viel Liebe gestaltet worden. Zum Essen: Hier wird mit Liebe gekocht! Kompliment an den Küchenchef. Gleichmäßig, sauber und ordentlich geschnittenes Gemüse ist für mich immer ein Zeichen, dass man Wert auf Qualität legt. Ich hab nur eine Suppe gegessen, aber wie bekannt kann man bei dem Vorspeisen und den Desserts am einfachsten erkennen, wie gut eine Küche ist. Die Suppe war wirklich sehr gut. Den Kaiserschmarrn hab ich nur gesehen und er sah hervorragend aus. Ich komme wieder und probiere den Rest versprochen

As a longtime fan of the Ayinger Bräustüberl in Aying, I naturally had to check out the Munich locations as well (I had already been in the Altstad one). The service and atmosphere here are great, but when it comes to the food, Aying is still my top choice and favorite.

Very delicious food and super friendly service in a beautiful courtyard. Unfortunately, we had an unpleasant experience because someone was smoking at the next table while we were eating. Since the air in the courtyard is a bit stale, we were completely exposed, which was very unpleasant, and since we had already eaten, we couldn't change tables. Perhaps we should consider banning smoking, creating a non-smoking area, or encouraging smoking guests to be a little more considerate of surrounding tables?

Anyone looking for authentic brewery flair in Munich can't miss Ayinger in der Au. The menu delivers what you'd expect: roast pork, dumplings, coleslaw – the full range. Absolutely solid in terms of taste, no culinary high point, but honest, hearty brewery food that will fill you up and satisfy you. For me, as a northern German visitor, the beer was the real highlight: drinkable, strong, and diverse – exactly what you'd imagine southern German beer culture to be. A toast to the selection! And then the service: attentive, quick, yet truly warm. No routine, just genuine hospitality – you feel welcome, even if you say "Moin" instead of "Grüß Gott." Conclusion: If you're looking for a Bavarian atmosphere with classic dishes, great beer, and friendly staff, this is the place to be. No frills, but a place with atmosphere and character.

This place is located over the river, near the technology museum. It’s out of town (but walkable) and pretty quiet and chilled out. I’m pretty biased, but as Ayinger is my favourite brewery the drinks selection was a delight. I didn’t eat but the food also looked lovely. The city centre bräuhaus experience is worth it once, but I’d recommend coming out here to see how pleasant and relaxed a version is available! Cannot recommend more highly. They accept card and are welcoming to English speakers too.

We wanted to have a beer in the outdoor area, which was half empty. The waiters completely ignored us at the entrance. When we went inside to ask if it was possible to sit outside, they said, "Absolutely not." I have no idea if there weren't enough waiters that day or if they just weren't in the mood to serve customers. That's definitely not how you treat potential customers.

A restaurant that also caters to vegetarian/vegan options. All your hunchbacked relatives should be able to find something to eat there.

We enjoy eating out in Munich often. Unfortunately, despite having made a reservation, we were only offered a small bench. The staff was friendly, but didn't really try to find us an alternative, even though we (nicely and politely) offered to wait. It's a shame, as we usually enjoy Aying's hospitality. Therefore, we weren't able to try the food...

Wir waren im Juni 2x in diesem Lokal. Eine schöne alternative zu den klassischen großen Biergärten, tatsächlich würde es eher als Wirtshaus mit Garten beschreiben. Wunderbar ruhig gelegen mit nettem und flotten Service. Wir hatten Biertapas für 19,90€ die etwas hochpreisig anmuten, aber handwerklich und geschmacklich super dem perfekten frischen und gut temperiertem Ayinger passten. Weiter hatten wir Schweinebraten mit Knödeln und Kraut eine gute Portion zu fairen 19,90€ und eine Salt für 15,00€. Der Schweinebraten ein Gedicht, wirklich.! Die Sauce- eher ein Safterl- wunderbar, perfekter Semmelknödel, nichtlabrig, sondern fluffig und ein guter Geschmack, das gleiche gilt für den Kartoffelknödel. Der Krautsalat, nicht sauer, sonder prima anmariniert, dezent mit Kümmel abgekürzt, so mag ich das. Der Salat war eine Riesenportion, mit dem Hausdressing angemacht, das gut ist, aber hier wäre weniger mehr gewesen, lässt ich abe verschmerzen. Wirklich gelungen!

This location is a hidden gem, such a nice garden with live music when we visited. Their wheat beer and dark beer is delicious and we tried all their desserts and really enjoyed our visit. Best kaiserschmarrn I've ever had. Our server Timo was fantastic as well!

With my family and friends to ho to this restaurant and all was god, But one person / waiter dont work nothing. Ruded to my son(15 years old), my Mom, my guests. 13:00 ocklock we was in this place. Waiter in shorts. Thanks Administrator that corrected this person/waiter.

On April 26th, 2025 we were guests at Ayinger in der Au for the first time. The food (gnocchi with asparagus, roast pork and tavern platter) was excellent and was served very quickly. We four adults felt totally at home in the atmosphere. A place where you can have a nice conversation while eating. The service at table 17 was extremely friendly and attentive. My wife and I felt slightly full after eating. The waitress gave us both some soothing relaxation with a light stomach massage. That deserves a raise! The owners can only be congratulated on such top performance. The Ayinger in der Au is an absolute example of outstanding Bavarian hospitality.

It was fantastic, we were seated straight away even without a reservation and had very nice service. We were there around 5pm and it wasn't full, perfect👍. The prices are reasonable and the portions are big enough. The raw vegetable salad with fried chicken strips is highly recommended. Overall, a visit is definitely worth it and our expectations were even exceeded.

The marinated roast pork was delicious with the crust 🤌 The apple strudel in the apricot sauce was a very good surprise at the end 😋 It's a shame that it wasn't on the menu that the coleslaw costs an additional €4.

Advertising brunch but only having three dishes plus white sausages on the menu is ridiculous. The portions were tiny but very expensive. And not offering a milk substitute these days is even more ridiculous. The only good thing about the brunch was the super friendly and attentive staff. Never again 👎

We came here for breakfast, and it was fantastic. For five people, we ordered two tiered breakfasts to share and two Kaiserschmarrens. Everyone enjoyed it. Unfortunately, the Kaiserschmarren had very large, hard caramel chunks, so you had to be careful how you bit into them. I would use a bit less sugar. The taste, however, was excellent, and it's great that they come with both applesauce and plum compote.

Everything is amazing here. Food is SO GOOD, desert as well. But I think the most important thing that deserves appreciation here is the service team💖 They are super professional, super fast and also always smiling:) Specially Jacob🥹and everyone giving you a very nice warm feeling:) and they are all looking like MODELS, is this a restaurant or a model academy?! 😍

The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxed evening - whether as a couple or as a group. We would particularly like to highlight the exceptionally friendly service that accompanied us from start to finish. We tried the heifer tartare, which was so generously portioned that it could easily pass as a main course. There was also the braised Bavarian Ox mayor's piece - both were simply extremely tasty! The quality of the meat was excellent and the portions were more than satisfactory. The price-performance ratio is absolutely reasonable. To round things off, we relied on the house's dessert recommendation: the pear and rosemary panna cotta with chocolate tart. This combination was simply incredibly delicious and a refreshing change. The flavors were perfectly balanced and rounded off the entire experience. That was fine dining in a tavern! We would like to thank you very much for the lovely evening and the great service! We'll definitely be back!

It was a shame I wanted to eat Bavarian on Sunday, the kaas spaetzle and a soup but there was only brunch. Then I got the chicken soup and I have to say it was beyond that. Paid everything and put it in the Schober opposite

Freundlicher Empfang, aufmerksamer Service, gemütlicher Gastraum mit angenehmer Akustik. Wir waren als Familie zu Fünft uns alle waren mit ihren Gerichten sehr zufrieden. Negative Bewertungen bei tripadvisor können wir nicht nachvollziehen. Münchentypisch sind die Preise hoch.

Generally friendly service and the ambience is also quite nice. For me there was Picatta from the pretzel dumpling. The vegetables were good, but the pretzel dumplings were unfortunately very dry. A little sauce would have been good for the whole thing. However, I don't think the price level there is justified, €30 for a Hoibe of beer, a double espresso and I think my main course is too much of a good thing. In total, an amount of between €20-25 would have been enough for the landlord to have something left. Too bad :/

We reserved a spot at 5:30 p.m. Nice sign on the door, but then a table was assigned almost directly to the entrance door, but the protective curtain couldn't be pulled forward. So we were exposed to the pull of the entrance door. The portions of food were plentiful, the soup came lukewarm and the rest of the food was rather mediocre. Our espressos were forgotten and only served upon request. The Altbyerisches Dunkel was delicious😉

Visit in mid-January. We felt very comfortable. The young waiter, probably a trainee, was very friendly and went out of his way to help us. The food was very good, the menu is similar or the same as Ayinger am Platzl. Had the obligatory tartare, beef roularde, plum dumplings and Kaiserschmarrn. Parking directly across the street. Anläßlich meines Geburtstages war ich am Sonntag im Ayinger in der Au. Schön die Begrüßung war sehr freundlich und wir konnten aus zwei Tischen wählen. Der Seevice war aufmerksam und schnell. Das Essen sehr sehr lecker. Meine Gäste und ich haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt. Ein besonderen Dank noch für den leckeren Aperitif, der war sehr sehr lecker

Absolutely recommended, you walk in the door and are immediately greeted and seated by a very polite service person. Despite the high occupancy, the service was extremely friendly and super quick. Kaiserschmarrn beautifully prepared and served with applesauce and plums. Roast pork was delicious, could have been served a little warmer. Well, it's not so easy in winter. Very friendly service. There's a lot going on, the volume is still pleasant. Locally beautifully decorated. It seems very harmonious and has its own touch. Public parking opposite for 10 cents per 3 minutes - interesting timing...

We were there on Christmas Day evening. The gentleman who served us and the boss were very friendly and accommodating. Two young waitresses, a woman and a man, still have to practice being friendly. Since it wasn't our first time there, we were disappointed with the food this time. Especially at Christmas you want something very good on your plate. Goose and duck with dumplings and red cabbage were not that tasty and not very hot either. In the Kaiserschmarrn the sugar was so thick and burnt in places. Not fluffy, but thick fatty crusty pieces. I was really ashamed of the food in front of my relatives. I will never rave about a restaurant again and then invite you there for such an occasion.

Service not appropriate for the price level. Drinks and small items (such as a straw) have to be reminded again after ordering. A children's menu is available upon request. Risotto not fully cooked. New portion was good and al dente, but unfortunately much late. It's a shame that eating together turns into eating one after the other.

The service was disastrous. I had to wait half an hour for my two beers each. The other guests were no better. This was completely unacceptable. The payment process was a disaster. It felt like it took 10 minutes per invoice. For dinner I had beef roulade. Meat was tough and fibrous. Really not good. My wife had the salad with goat cheese. It wasn't fresh. Regarding the ambience, it was unpleasantly loud that evening.

Unreservedly recommended! Great selection of food, and from 6 p.m. there is beer from the wooden barrel. The service was excellent on every visit, “restaurant” literally describes it, you feel right at home and welcome as a guest.

The food is excellent, from crispy Wiener Schnitzen to delicious Kaiserschmarrn, all freshly and authentically prepared. We were particularly impressed by the selection of Ayinger beers, which go perfectly with the food. The service is attentive and friendly, you feel completely comfortable. A must for anyone who wants to experience Bavarian cuisine and cosiness.
