We came as two families with our children, ages 5 and 7. The atmosphere captivated us as soon as we walked in; we knew we'd come to the right place. The food was delicious. We were delighted to be able to sample authentic Bavarian cuisine. On a side note, we were very fortunate that Geza, who took care of us, was very informative about Bavarian cuisine. He went out of his way to help us make the right choice. We'd also like to thank him for his friendly and helpful manner. If I ever return to Munich, I'll definitely dine here again.

Absolute hotspot for tourists but still Bavarian style.

I had reserved for a group of 100 people. In the end, we had almost 200, and the team opened up additional areas for us at short notice and provided fantastic service! The food was excellent, as always! Thank you so much!

Some of the best service I’ve experienced, especially because of a wonderful server named Geza who was extremely friendly, helpful, and made the experience all the better. Food was delicious, the atmosphere and location are wonderful, and the place has a rich history. If you’re searching for good local food and a fantastic experience, this is the restaurant to be! (I was so amazed with the food and quick service that I forgot to take a photo of the food before we started eating!)

Dinner with our American friends, who were very impressed by the good food and the atmosphere, as there were also locals there, not just tourists. The roast pork/crusted roast/Wiener schnitzel were great, the food came quickly, and the service was prompt!

A real tourist trap. We waited 40 minutes for our drinks and almost 50 minutes for our food to arrive. The prices were really steep considering the plates felt half empty.

It was totally terrible experience. They are racists. We were very offended by their treatment. Even though we were first in line, they kept letting people behind us in first. Also, because there were 7 of us, We thought it would take a long time to get in, so we said it was okay if we sat in groups of 3 and 4. The employee said okay and told us to wait, but they kept making us wait for another 30 minutes and kept letting people behind us in. When we asked them, they suddenly got angry and told us that they wouldn't let us in separately and kept telling us to wait. They were two female employees standing at the entrance. After waiting for a long time, we couldn't stand it anymore and went to another store. This kind of treatment is unacceptable.

A very good experience at this restaurant! Typical Munich food, and very good. The service was very attentive and friendly, and they served quickly. If you want a good meal, this is a good place.

An absolutely amazing food experience with 10/10 authentic german eats. The location is cozy and dimly lit, creating an old and homey feeling. We were served by Nela who was really nice. We hope you’re served by her also. If you’re not going, you’re missing out!

Augustiner Klosterwirt – a good recommendation We've been to the Klosterwirt several times. Including a group on a Wednesday. It was a real hell of a place, but thanks to advance reservations, we had our seats secured. It was on the lower level. Since the restaurant was almost fully booked, it's only natural that the noise level would be quite high. Nevertheless, the staff remained very friendly and polite. Service was also good. The food was once again excellent. No one will go home hungry. All in all, the Klosterwirt is highly recommended, as was the recommendation to us.

One of those places which get visitors only because of their location. Food: 20+eur warmed-up/ not fresh dishes. Service: unfriendly almost at rude level for non german speakers. And extremely slow and unattentive - I had to stand up and ask 2 times to get the bill. Beer: good

Augustiner Edelstoff beer is delicious, with a hint of banana, hops, and a sweet and bitter taste. Crispy pork knuckle, not salty, good for snacking. Chicken breast salad is also good. The steak has too many fried onions, which overpowers the meaty smell.

The best examples of Bavarian cuisine. The place works like a factory and is crowded but it is historical and very nice. The staff is friendly and the service is incredibly fast.

We were here for dinner and a tip: arrive early, or better yet, make a reservation. We were lucky to get a table for five when we arrived shortly before 6 p.m., others were less fortunate. The waiters are all very nice and friendly. You can tell they're a bit underrated here, but if you give the person you're seated a quick signal, they'll be there very quickly. The food was excellent. The portion sizes were average for Munich prices, and special requests can be accommodated. We sat outside due to the temperature and the nice weather. Even though it was in the middle of the city, we barely noticed anyone outside the restaurant. Which, in my opinion, is a huge plus. For five people, including drinks, we paid approximately €198, which is a very fair price (we've had much higher bills, but with considerably lower quality). The only negative point could be seen as the fact that we had no chance of getting a spot inside because of the thunderstorm that happened.

Had a beer outside but looked great inside. Food tasty enough, went for the sausages n saurkraut . Thought it was grated cheese on the salad....nope it was horserasish 🤣 . Blew my head off ! Shared a hearty meal which was more than enough for two !

There were many empty seats when we arrived at the restaurant, but even without reservation, we were required to share a table with Chinese people, and the people we shared a table with were Chinese! But for other white people, we could sit in an empty seat outside without reservation. We specifically asked the white people, and they didn't have a reservation! The environment was average, with a lot of flies flying around. The taste was also average.

Ingenious location, lovely to sit out and take out the scene and watch folks go by. Friendly staff, quick on their feet and cute looking in their leather hosen. The food is alright but nothing you write home about. For example the neurberger sausage was nice, but the pile of sauerkraut was a bit of a turn off. The house salad again nice but don't drown it in salad dressing. The spaelze needed the most work. They needed a quick pan fry to bring out the flavour. The sauce and filet mignon was a nice way to round out what the spaelze was missing. Again a great place to hang out, go and have a drink, for dinner there are better options around.

Large restaurant, delicious food, and a lovely atmosphere, especially in summer. The restroom doors look great (made of cast iron, including the latch), but they're a bit stiff.

We made a reservation online! We received a reminder and directions. Very friendly welcome, super friendly service, and amazing food! The dark beer was fantastic. The waiter also recommended a Willi restaurant, which was excellent. We'd go back anytime.

The food and beer were delicious. However, I was not happy that the waiter arbitrarily chose to add a 10% tip to the meal price without my consent or confirmation. If the service had been good, it wouldn't have been a problem, but the service was average (rather, it was a bit dismissive and bland), so I felt that he had no obligation to include a tip without my consent. I will never go there again, including any of their affiliated restaurants.

Beautiful place but the waiter brought us dishes that contained lactose, even though we had been recommended several times because of strong intolerances. Not very serious behavior, especially if there had been more serious allergies.

Nice restaurant with good food and ambiance

Came here for traditional Bavarian food after being disappointed by another restaurant, and it was well worth it. Firstly a great atmosphere with great service, but the food had so much flavour and there were great portion sizes (I got the weiner schnitzel). Would highly recommend if you’re after traditional Bavarian cuisine in a relaxed setting.

The restaurant is truly amazing! From the very first moment, you feel like the Emperor of Bavaria himself. The welcome was warm, just like we're used to at home. The service? Prompt, friendly, and with a feel for every wish! And the food? My dear swan! The oxtail is as tender as a Sunday in a hammock, and the Kaiserschmarrn – yes, you'll immediately fall in love with it. A culinary delight of the finest quality, and of the highest quality. The ambiance is elegant, yet rustic and unpretentious. The host (or the chef) knows his craft – and you can tell with every bite. So: If you want to eat something decent and sit comfortably together, then head here. It's a given: five stars and an extra pretzel on top!

A classic Munich brewery. Wonderful beer, delicious knuckle of pork, attentive service. We only had to wait almost 30 minutes to pay. But we'd be happy to go back anytime.

Came here for some authentic local food while in Munich and it was even better than expected. Ordered the sausage trio platter, which was fantastic. 1 of the sausages was very spicy, but excellent if you could tolerate that level of heat. The German potato salad, which I have despised since childhood, was very good as was the sauerkraut. They even had freshly shaven horseradish, which was fantastic. Also ordered the white asparagus plate since it's a specialty in season. It was good, but it was a LOT of asparagus and between 3 of us, there was still asparagus leftover as there's only so much anyone can eat of it. I would skip this one unless you have a special affinity for that veg. Finally, we ordered the roast pork, which was fine. The potato dumpling- meh. Tables were large so multiple groups may be sitting together at a table. Service was friendly and ambiance, although nothing special, was cozy given that it was rainy and dreary outside. Would definitely return and recommend to others. Order the sausage sampler. Be careful of the spicy one. Enjoy!

We had a wonderful experience at this lovely local spot, seated outdoors on a beautiful day. The service was excellent—friendly, prompt, and made the entire meal even more enjoyable. We ordered the sausage platter and the crispy pork shoulder, and both dishes were outstanding. The pork shoulder was perfectly cooked—fall-off-the-bone tender—and came with a rich brown beer sauce, sauerkraut, and a soft potato dumpling. Every element complemented the other beautifully. The sausage platter included four varieties, each delicious in its own way, but the spicy sausage stood out as our personal favorite. It’s definitely a must-try! We also enjoyed their house beer, brewed in-barrel. It’s a light, airy lager—refreshing and just perfect for a summer afternoon. Highly recommend this place for great food, great beer, and warm hospitality!

Located next to the old town, opposite the cathedral, the restaurant is in a very nice location in Munich. The restaurant is very spacious, with plenty of seating, both indoors, underground and outdoors. The restaurant decor is beautiful and the WC is also very impressive 😘😘😘. Fast and friendly service. The food, beer and ice cream are all great and the prices are reasonable compared to the general level in Munich.

A perfect evening – we had a business dinner with (18) international guests on June 16, 2025, and deliberately chose a traditional, long-established, and quaint Munich restaurant. The Klosterwirt is simply AMAZING! The platters served were absolutely delicious, and the Augustiner, as always, was outstanding. Also worth mentioning is the super-fast and extremely friendly service, which made this evening something special. The guests were thrilled. Thank you so much for that – we'll be back and would happily recommend the Klosterwirt for a culinary experience.

Very big and beautiful pub. From the outside it doesnt look unique compared to any other pub from the neighbourhood, but once you get inside its a completely different story. The pub has a very large underground area.

A beautiful terrace on the square in front of the cathedral. A menu with local dishes. So everything's fine, you might say! Alas, no, my wife had finished her breaded schnitzel and I still hadn't been served. A very long wait for simple grilled Nuremberg sausages. In their defense, the establishment offered me a pretzel and sauce to make up for it. So we consider that to err is human and we forgive; it's still a nice place.

We asked for a table for 2 and the waiter sat us outside without asking if we wanted to eat or drink. We sat down and after 15 minutes another waiter came and informed us that we couldn't eat but could only order drinks. It was around 11pm and I understand the time, but the first waiter had to inform us that we couldn't consume food, leaving us sitting for 15 minutes without anyone coming to take the order! Poor service

May be am not a huge fan for German food but it's a good German food. Being a little bit expensive but the place inside is fantastic. The only food recommendation for me would be apple strudel.

As the star rating suggests, the food was delicious, the atmosphere was very European (outdoor terrace) and very nice, and the service was extremely rude. They just threw things on the table. But we are travelers, after all. ^^ We are a family of four traveling with a middle school 3rd grade son and a 4th grade daughter. One haksen was a bit too much for our standards, but we were full. I recommend haksen.

Here , I tasted Schinitzel and a small Käsespätzle. They are all delicious.😋 In the beggining I was eating alone but later a a family (3 person) came and sit near me. It means that you can sit with people who you dont know in this restaurant, beacause it is very crowded and they have limited place. Briefly, foods are really delicious.

The cheese späetzle was just ok.. tasted more like gnocchi. The crispy pork was very good, but soup with pancake VERY salty. Pretzel and cheese was good (if you like blue cheese). Overall had a good experience and heavy German dinner here, friendly service and good vibe. Maybe come once to try some staples and move on. You can find much better and cheaper food at the Viktualienmarkt

Nice place, typical German place, watch out for the prices, they are also typically German, a Viennese cutlet with potatoes 30 euros. Good, the bread must be ordered separately and is paid for by counting the slices of bread, I specify for those who are not used to this type of place.
