Augustiner Klosterwirt in München

We went in the afternoon without a reservation, although it was crowded, we found a place in the open area. The service was very fast. Our food was delicious. There was also a vegan sausage option.

Pleasant atmosphere, exemplary service, their famous ciolan really deserves its reputation.

I was there yesterday. The young lady who assigned us seats was unfriendly and rude, which is completely unacceptable. On the other hand, the waiter was super nice and attentive.

A beautiful terrace on the square in front of the cathedral. A menu with local dishes. So everything's fine, you might say! Alas, no, my wife had finished her breaded schnitzel and I still hadn't been served. A very long wait for simple grilled Nuremberg sausages. In their defense, the establishment offered me a pretzel and sauce to make up for it. So we consider that to err is human and we forgive; it's still a nice place.

First and foremost: excellent service. You walk out of the Frauenkirche and walk right into the Klosterwirt. Incredibly friendly and competent service – delicious food and a great atmosphere, at the foot of the Frauenkirche. I'd gladly go back, preferably right away!

Great service, excellent atmosphere and the food + beer combo couldn’t be beaten. One of the better places in Munich to sit down and have a drink and food with family and friends. Does get busy as can be towards dinner so make a reservation or get there before the 6pm rush.

Had the Leberkäse with potato salad as well as a beer and a Spezi all in all 38€ a great experience right next to the Frauenkirche

We asked for a table for 2 and the waiter sat us outside without asking if we wanted to eat or drink. We sat down and after 15 minutes another waiter came and informed us that we couldn't eat but could only order drinks. It was around 11pm and I understand the time, but the first waiter had to inform us that we couldn't consume food, leaving us sitting for 15 minutes without anyone coming to take the order! Poor service

As the star rating suggests, the food was delicious, the atmosphere was very European (outdoor terrace) and very nice, and the service was extremely rude. They just threw things on the table. But we are travelers, after all. ^^ We are a family of four traveling with a middle school 3rd grade son and a 4th grade daughter. One haksen was a bit too much for our standards, but we were full. I recommend haksen.

May be am not a huge fan for German food but it's a good German food. Being a little bit expensive but the place inside is fantastic. The only food recommendation for me would be apple strudel.

First , it is possible to say that the most beautiful waitresses are working here in the world:) They are helpfull and smiling. Waitress are wearing traditional clothes . Here , I tasted Schinitzel and a small Käsespätzle. They are all delicious.😋 In the beggining I was eating alone but later a a family (3 person) came and sit near me. It means that you can sit with people who you dont know in this restaurant, beacause it is very crowded and they have limited place. Briefly, foods are really delicious.

The cheese späetzle was just ok.. tasted more like gnocchi. The crispy pork was very good, but soup with pancake VERY salty. Pretzel and cheese was good (if you like blue cheese). Overall had a good experience and heavy German dinner here, friendly service and good vibe. Maybe come once to try some staples and move on. You can find much better and cheaper food at the Viktualienmarkt

I was looking for a place to eat and I had no reservation. And im glad I found this place. Everyone were so nice. Good bavarian food and of course good beer!

Super friendly service, delicious food, and a cozy interior. We had to wait in line for about five minutes because it was packed (on a Saturday). Everything looks worse than it is, though. The wait is worth it. We'll be back.

Nice place, typical German place, watch out for the prices, they are also typically German, a Viennese cutlet with potatoes 30 euros. Good, the bread must be ordered separately and is paid for by counting the slices of bread, I specify for those who are not used to this type of place.

Very busy and noisy “German” restaurant. Could not have a conversation because it was so loud inside. I had the sausages and sauerkraut which were tasty, but my wife had the vegetarian pasta which was not “al dente”. The beer steins were fun and the staff were all dressed up in traditional German clothing which added to the environment

Despite it being very busy, we got a table right away. The service was very fast and friendly. The food came fairly quickly, and there wasn't a long wait. Very tasty. Unfortunately, I can't say much about the ambiance; we ate outside. Nevertheless, the location is nice.

The sausage was good, the sour potato salad was interesting, but forget about the pig's feet, they smelled like pig and were greasy.

Recommend the sausage platter and pig's feet, the portion is large and you can eat a lot.

Excellent food, first-class service, and a typically Bavarian atmosphere. I wanted to share a photo with you, but unfortunately it was too delicious and gone too quickly—it was too late 🙈 Addendum: next visit, it was just as great, and I remembered to take the photo beforehand. Just as delicious as last time. We enjoyed a Bavarian journey 😋 They also served it with gravy and warm potato salad. Highly recommended.

The atmosphere is pleasant. We sat outside in the beer garden in front of the restaurant. The menu reads really well and makes you want more. Unfortunately, the food for two people was brought out separately – with a significant time difference. The food wasn't even hot. Only the plates were warm. Of course, they reheated it, but there was little understanding for this. Oh well... We really expected good food and were disappointed.

Great beer garden in the center of Munich, great Bavarian delicacies and great beer. The beer garden has 2 floors, one below street level and the staff is very friendly.

This is a tourist restaurant with charm. Nice service, lovely atmosphere and unfortunately not good food. We had tomato soup and schnitzel with "warm" potato salad. Unfortunately the potato salad was cold potatoes with far too much vinegar. Schnitzel was not crispy as it should be, but otherwise tasted ok. Regardless, it is ok for a visit if you are in the neighborhood.

A very nice, traditional inn with great staff and delicious food. Sitting outside, you have a beautiful view of the Frauenkirche. The basement is a beautiful vaulted cellar with a real pub atmosphere. It's a bit noisy, but you can still have a good conversation. We'll be happy to return on our next trip to Munich.

What a cute Bavarian beer hall. The schweinshaxe is so delicious and has a lot of crispy skin. The knudel is amazing as well. I would come back here any time.

For me, this is "typically Bavarian"—hearty cuisine, fast and friendly service, and a rustic atmosphere. Everything was perfect!

We got the House Special platter and the char fish. The House Special was good for every Bavarian food you’d want to try, so there’s that, as it has a wide variety to it. The pork knuckles and shoulder were crispy. The char fish had a nice crunch and the vegetables that accompanied it were pretty flavorful. All in all, the place wasn’t the best but it wasn’t bad. We’re unsure if we’d return, however, the location is close to a couple major attractions, so its convenience is nice.

The service is fast, the food is delicious. The noise is very loud, you can barely hear the people sitting at the table. This is what slightly overshadows the atmosphere.

I took a portion for two from the menu, but the bill was double. So, watch carefully what you order and at what price, unless you want to be screwed - this place is exactly that. The service is typical German. Yes, everything comes but it takes a while. I won't come again, and I certainly don't recommend it - a tourist trap.

Waiting for a table at dinner time but not very long. The cleaning lady at the restaurant toilet ask me for 50 cents, kind of strange bc restaurant toilets are usually free for customers and she didn’t provide an excellent service.

Beautiful, very large venue, with plenty of seating, both inside and out. Fast, friendly and nice service. Excellent typical Bavarian food. Excellent beer. Excellent prices. The two of us, taking two main courses with side dishes and two medium draft beers, spent a total of €70. Excellent value for money.

Some good food in a very large, Bavarian style bier-house. I ordered the House Special to have a taste of all the various types of meats. The schnitzel was very tasty while I found the 2 pork pieces less tasty than I would have pictured. In retrospect it was also a bad idea to order this as the pork knuckle came cut in half while a strong appeal for me of that recipe was receiving the whole piece. The gravy had a spice with a flavor that stood out too clearly for my taste. Service was very efficient. It lacked maybe a tiny bit of personal touch, but that's quite understandable considering the size of the restaurant. I was very impressed seeing waiters/waitresses carrying very large trays full of food down the staircases that connected 2 floors.

This is what you imagine Bavarian food to be, even if they cater to the masses. Truly delicious. A wonderful, rustic, original atmosphere. The service was super friendly, despite the large number of guests. Excellent value for money. Highly recommended.

An authentic place near the church, the beers were good, the service was below my expectations, I can't say it was bad but I wish I had chosen another Augustiner branch because of the staff. The prices were normal, I added the menu in the photos.

The pork knuckle was delicious, as was the Milanese! The beer was excellent! The Pope used to come here for his beer after the ceremony in the church across the street from the rest of the restaurant.

Probably the best place I visited in Munich. Very well prepared food for a very fair price! I ordered a pork knuckle and a beer. It may not look like it in the picture, but it is quite large. Definitely more than 600g of meat alone. I recommend it!

One of the best restaurants in Munich. The food and service were fantastic. A must place to grab a meal if you are in Munich. The restaurant caters to foreigners and has multiple language menus available. I recommend you give it a try. Also they offer inexpensive bier mugs with the logo.

Great Bavarian atmosphere and food. Lots of space inside accross ground level and basement. Fast service, they also speak English and have English menus. Reasonable food prices as for the city centre. I've been a few times now and always enjoy it.

They dont let you sit if you are not European/German enough for them. They treat you really bad and make you feel unwanted and uncomfortable. They lie to your face, saying all tables are taken, then let the Germans who are behind you sit on the table without reservations. When you ask about why they let them sit, they just smile to your face with an arrogant look.

We came for a beer and a fruit juice. The beer was good and cheaper than the fruit juice, to tell you the truth. It's the oldest brewery in Munich, so if you're looking for a typical Bavarian beer, this is the place.

The food was good, but the waiter's attitude was very disappointing. I think he probably hated Asians. He was considerate and served the white people around him in a friendly manner, and even asked "Is the food delicious?" during the meal, but there was no seat for us. We were kept waiting for a long time, whether it was to take our order or to pay, and only started to move when we started speaking German. He asked for a tip, so I paid 1% of the meal, but he even complained about the amount. To top it off, he said later that he would have been fine with 0! It's very unfortunate that racism exists. In order to avoid discrimination, we should also do as the Romans do, and be polite when interacting with other countries and cultures, but the fact that we are discriminated against just because we are Asian, without knowing the person's character, is something that we need to appeal for improvement. It was a disappointing experience that made me think that we need to make an effort on both sides.
