Despite the crowds, all the staff were very friendly. The food was delicious.

One of the best meals we had in Munich. While I don't like to bring other restaurants into a review, but there is this other place called The Hofbräuhaus that is very close. We ate and experienced both. Augustiner is better on every account. Better food, less hectic, better service and just an overall more enjoyable experience. The Roast Pork with Dumpling was perfect. Fluffy dumpling, the pork was cooked perfectly, and the gravy was seasoned well. And of course the Augustiner Helles was the absolute best. If you can only go to one of these types of restaurants in Munich, go here.

This is a famous restaurant for Haksen. We ordered a large one and two adult men were full. Trust me, it's delicious. However, it was a little greasy.

From the moment you make your reservation through to your meal, you feel perfectly taken care of. The food is simply the best Bavarian cuisine.

Augustiner Klosterwirt is a classic Munich restaurant with a very authentic atmosphere. We arrived and waited about 10 minutes to get a table, as we were planning to have dinner. We were seated at a table for four, and another couple joined us (not a problem, this happens in other places too). Overall, we had a really great time—friendly service, cozy environment, and a true Munich dining experience.

A truly historic place! The finest Bavarian delicacies, friendly service, and a beautiful historic ambiance, especially in the cellar. A definite recommendation for every visitor to Munich.

Even though there was a line outside of at least 30 people when we arrived, they seated us in less than 10 minutes. The food was very good and quite varied, and of course, the Bavarian beer was perfect! Very friendly staff and very fast service.

The last time we visited Augustiner (1.5 years ago), the three of us had to wait 30 minutes just for our meal, as it was unfortunately very busy that day. It was busy again today, but we were lucky enough to get a table quickly. Our drinks arrived within seconds, and our food came within 15-20 minutes. My colleague highly recommends the Zwiebelrostbraten (onion roast beef). I had the Schäufele (pork shoulder) as my main course, which was very good. On days when you can get a table, the service is very satisfactory!

For food, I had a half-baked Haxen and a schnitzel. For beer, I tried Augustiner Hell, Edelstorff, and Dunkel. I haven't tried much Haxen, but it paired very well with the gravy underneath. The accompanying Knödel was also delicious, with crunchy potato chunks. It's the perfect size for a single adult male. I think I could have finished it all even if I had ordered a whole one. The schnitzel came with two large pieces of meat. It wasn't salty, just right. The flour was thin. The potato salad was a bit bland, but overall, it was a good meal. Of the beers, Hell is a lager. It's very clean and has almost no body, so it's almost watery, but not bland. Edelstorff has a more pronounced body and flavor, and can be a bit strong. Unlike the stouts commonly found in Korea, Dunkel is a lager with a hint of stout.

Even though it looks like a local place, it’s also very touristy, crowded, and there are very long lines. If a table for three becomes available, they won’t seat two people there. But if it’s a table for five, they’ll put you together with three strangers. Inside it’s extremely noisy — it’s impossible to have a conversation while eating. I ordered the grilled entrecôte steak with fried onions and cheese spaetzle. Overall, the food and the meat sauce were very salty. The fried onions were leathery, hard to chew, and unpleasant. The cheese spaetzle was ordinary and salty. The meat was sinewy and fatty. In very crowded places, the food comes out fast because the idea is ‘eat and leave so new customers can come.’ I don’t recommend it.

Authentic Bavarian fare in a large ( yet cozy) upscale/ beer hall vibe. The Christmas decor was lovely and the food was exceptional. The House Special is enormous ( must be ordered for at least a party of two) and gives you a great array of meats and sides. Good luck finishing it!

When we're in Munich with groups, we love eating at the Augustiner Klosterwirt. The location right next to the Frauenkirche is fantastic, the staff are warm and welcoming, and they're incredibly helpful with our Italian groups, even when there are language barriers. It's a wonderful restaurant with beautiful surroundings. We love it!

I tried the 1/2 knuckle with potato dumpling. I wanted to love it but I found the portion overwhelming (enough for 2 or even 3!) and the meat was very salty. Cannot deny it is well cooked and crackling is cracking but it was too rich and I ate only 1/3 meat

We visited the restaurant on a whim and were absolutely thrilled. The atmosphere was fantastic, and the service was excellent. Our server was incredibly efficient and attentive, always making sure we were completely satisfied. The food was all delicious; we tried a variety of dishes. All in all, highly recommended! The location was great, the service was superb, and everyone was incredibly courteous and focused on the guest's comfort, starting with the welcome and seating arrangements. Everything was perfect. The service was incredibly friendly and fast, even though it was quite busy. The food was very, very good, and the atmosphere was absolutely fantastic. It was so beautifully decorated for Christmas. We were absolutely thrilled and would love to come back again when we're in Munich. Thank you!

Arrived later and was lucky to get a seat for 3 people. I wanted to try their version of grilled sausages and wasn't impressed. The sausages came across as breakfast meat, Maybe that was intended but it was not what I expected. The spatzle with cheese was great, more than making up for the sausages. They offered the pork shoulder with no bone, this was a perfect portion for sharing. Dessert was strudel (good)and creme brulee (great). We went on the first snow of 2025 season.

The atmosphere during the Christmas season is wonderful. We went late afternoon/early evening and were able to get seated right away without a reservation. Our server, Philip, was wonderful and super helpful. He made recommendations and was very engaging.

It was my first time here. We sat down because of the lovely autumn weather. I had half a pork knuckle. There was nothing to complain about; it was very tasty overall. The waiter was quite efficient, so ordering and paying were very quick. For Munich city center standards and a predominantly tourist clientele, the prices were quite reasonable.

Traditional Bavarian restaurant: wooden tables, warm light, lots of space, but at the same time cozy. The dishes are delicious and the portions are quite large! Tasty and juicy meat, great presentation of dishes. This is a great place to feel the true spirit of Munich, have a delicious meal and try one of the best local beers. I recommend it!

Friday evening, 8:30 pm. The place is packed. It's buzzing like a beehive. Despite this, it's not excessively loud. We had a reservation for six people but arrived with eight. The welcome was incredibly friendly and professional. A larger table was found for us within minutes. The service was friendly and relaxed. They were very patient with the non-German-speaking guests when taking orders. The service was very quick, both for drinks and food. The quality was excellent. Highly recommended for a pleasant evening at a Bavarian pub.

...I went there with my son for pork knuckle...the waiter was super nice...and it felt like being in a Kir Royal movie, everyone around us seemed to think they were something special; the atmosphere was hilarious; we sat there eating and everyone next to us thought they were a millionaire from Miesbach, because everyone was acting like one; tourists like us were mixed in; it's worth going there for that reason alone - you're right in the middle of it, instead of just seeing it on TV; the pork knuckle was also fantastic and so big that my son couldn't finish it...so it was worth the price!

A traditional inn in the heart of Munich, right next to St. Mary's Church. Great food and excellent beer. Very friendly service and a wonderful atmosphere. A little hidden gem.

We visited the Klosterwirt on a Friday, so not during peak hours. The ambiance is pleasant, although I'm not a fan of American Christmas decorations in a brewery. The beer was absolutely top-notch, the service was generally good, but the food was a disappointment. We ordered the selection platter, which offers a bit of everything, and the quality simply wasn't what you'd expect from a brewery. The Viennese veal schnitzel was very greasy and had hardly any flavor, while the pork knuckle was far too dry. Unfortunately, our criticism wasn't simply accepted; instead, they tried to downplay it, which I find incomprehensible. We were actually asked if we'd ever been to a brewery before! So, they're good for the beer, but they need to put more effort into the quality of the food.

Hearty meals, a liter of beer for less than €10, traditional and welcoming atmosphere. The brasserie is noisy, so be aware of that.

We wanted to have a beer with friends. We left the place after it became clear that it was impossible to provide a decent seat for a person with a physical disability, even with plenty of free tables. Even after politely asking and explaining. Seating was only available for customers who were also eating. I've rarely seen such a lack of empathy and decency. Since I can't reply directly to your answer: There's no misunderstanding. I spoke to a waiter downstairs, and the person with the walking aid was sitting next to me. His response: "Unfortunately, we can't do that." The woman at the entrance also simply said she would pass it on so it could be discussed internally. That's all I have to say about that… I would have understood if the place had been full, but as it is, I stand by my opinion… No empathy and simply outrageous.

I often eat here. The beer is fresh, the service is great, and the atmosphere is fantastic. Unfortunately, today was my first disappointment: potato pancakes with salmon for a hefty €22. Two small, pale potato pancakes – cold inside, most likely frozen beforehand. Outrageous! The side dish was okay. I had to complain, unfortunately – but received a free pretzel as compensation.

I'm from Munich and I know many traditional inns, but the Klosterwirt strikes the perfect balance between tradition and being a tourist magnet. We don't need to talk about the beer, but many smaller restaurants could learn a thing or two about food – fresh, flavorful, authentic, simply superb! A real insider tip: the giant pork shoulder for three! The staff are all incredibly friendly, attentive, and treat everyone equally! Big respect and thank you, keep it up!

We had reserved a table online the evening before, and it worked out perfectly. We were greeted very warmly and courteously the next day and shown to our table. Within five minutes, we received our ordered drinks, and less than another fifteen minutes later, we received our two delicious roast pork cuts and the best knuckle of pork in all of Munich. We have been spending our summer holidays in Munich for five years and have eaten at the Augustiner Klosterwirt at least once per stay. We are always impressed by the exceptionally good food, the great service, and the wonderful atmosphere. We will definitely spend at least one evening at the Klosterwirt on our next visit to Munich.
