Asam Schlössl in München

My favourite Wirtshaus in Munich, great for the summer in their biergarten, and cosy in the winter. I also really like their modern take on traditional cuisine, which is made better by a great location and staff.

A spontaneous first visit, we enjoyed incredibly delicious carrot tartare and all the waiters were absolutely delightful! We'd love to come back again soon!!

This was my first time at Asam Schlössl. There were nine of us (for a company event). The food was exceptionally good. The service was very attentive and professional, without being intrusive. For me, it's one of the best places for a good piece of meat. The preparation of a 300-gram fillet was perfect. The ambiance is very pleasant. I was very satisfied with the price for such a good meal.

Great inn, excellent food, the best beer (Augustiner on tap), friendly service, cozy atmosphere inside in winter, beautiful beer garden outside in summer…

Our white sausages were alright, but the Caesar salad was drenched in dressing and came with cold shrimp. €28 isn't worth it. Interestingly, we only received an interim bill instead of a final one. I wonder why that is?

I had dinner at Asam Schlössl and was absolutely delighted. The fish was perfectly prepared, cooked to perfection, and wonderfully seasoned. The service was exceptionally attentive and warm; I immediately felt at ease. The ambiance is also beautiful, cozy, historic, and shows great attention to detail. Highly recommended, I will definitely be back!

I would be careful here. I came here tonight for some traditional Bavarian food, which was good. The atmosphere was nice, and we generally had a good time. However, when I went to pay, the total was 47 euro. I am from a part of the world where we don't tip, so I'm unaware of the exact tipping culture in Germany. Nevertheless, I asked the waiter to round the bill up to 50. Clearly the waiter thought this wasn't enough, because after I had walked out I see on my banking app he had charged 53. I get it's only three euros, but I didn't like the practice of dishonestly taking without consent.

Excellent evening in a cosy atmosphere. Highlights came with the dishes. The tomahawk was perfectly cooked and served with great veggies and pommes. Paris butter was the cherry on the cake. Nothing better than a red wine to pair with. The wine card is quite extensive from glasses to bottle, counting on French, Italian, German and Austrian vineyards. The hazel dessert was delicious with fondant Williams pears and hazel ice. From service to plates, I would recommend this place with no hesitation !

Great food, very friendly service. I'm a little nitpicky about the ambiance because I found the restaurant too cold. Autumn temperatures call for closed doors and some heating, especially when the restaurant isn't full at lunchtime...

A magnificent, traditional Munich restaurant with an upscale, very pleasant ambiance! Both inside and outside in the beer garden. Service and food quality are also top-notch. Please keep it up, we'll be happy to come back! It's important that the value for money remains good... PS: You can also celebrate birthdays and weddings here in the large hall.

We were there with a group of 14 people and were treated very well. The food was delicious, the value for money was excellent, and you immediately felt very comfortable. The ambiance was also great; highly recommended for both groups and couples/individuals.

The quality of the food our group enjoyed ranged from excellent to just okay. Given the rather high prices, enough money should have accumulated over the years to do a thorough renovation. Or are the tables, chairs, other furnishings, and even the flooring listed as historical monuments? It's really overdue.

Food was delicious, most of all Hischam our sever. He was our favorite person we meet in Germany! He helped us understand the menu and gave us and authentic experience! We were lucky to meet him!!!

We were at the Asam Schlössl in Munich again today, and I have to say the restaurant is still a real highlight and highly recommended. I was particularly impressed by the perfectly prepared Wiener Schnitzel and the juicy rib-eye steak—both dishes were of the highest quality. You can immediately taste the freshness of the ingredients and the attention to detail in the kitchen. The service was also excellent again: attentive, friendly, and always present at the right time, without being intrusive. The atmosphere is cozy Bavarian yet elegant, perfectly rounding off the culinary experience. A wonderful place for enjoyment and hospitality in Munich. We'll definitely be back soon.

Hischam was the best man I’ve ever met! He is the absolute best of the best!

A few friends and myself came to have a couple drinks here and we were met by Hischam. This man gave us a brilliant experience, made us feel at home and recommended some brilliant drinks here. We absolutely loved our time in this beautiful venue and credit it to Hischam! Thanks for having us!

Beautiful beer garden, but also super cozy inside. There was a great spot outside and a very friendly server. I had the salmon ceviche. It was sensational: fresh, spicy, and delicious. Simply perfect for the heat of the day.

The food was very good and well-seasoned. My son and I ordered the roast lamb, which was well-cooked and juicy. This was my fifth time there. Last year, the service was very slow, but this year it was the opposite.

We visited Asam Schlössl for the first time last Monday, and because we enjoyed it so much, we went back on Saturday. Great food, and we highly recommend the beef tartare and the Wiener schnitzel. Very friendly service, although a bit overscheduled at times, was nevertheless very attentive, fast, and very friendly :) The beer garden is beautiful, with a great interior as well. Prices are a bit higher than usual in Munich, but it was and always will be worth it for us. We'd be happy to go back!

The food is delicious, but the crowds and service can be a bit hectic in the evenings, so it's not very fast. But ultimately, everything was efficient and pleasant.

A dinner near the campsite so as not to go too far after a day on the bike, a very nice place, well-prepared dishes but not much choice on the menu, even for desserts and beers which are decidedly expensive

Starter: Vegan heirloom carrot tartare was excellent👍 Main course: 300g ribeye with oven-baked vegetables and pimentos didn't exactly blow me away. The flavor was neutral. The vegetable pimentos could use a bit of seasoning. Dessert: Marinated strawberries with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, nothing exciting. The sauce on the accompanying spareribs was already slightly thickened. (Picture) Finally, the bill included one beer and one espresso too many. It shouldn't have happened, but it had a slight aftertaste. But the service was sorted out. Conclusion: Ambience, service, and good. The food, apart from the heirloom carrot tartare, was rather average.

A very pretty restaurant. A wonderful, well-kept castle. A very nice beer garden. Prices are slightly higher. I can't say much about the food, except for the salad. It was only slightly above average, though. The service was at times very customer-oriented and courteous.

From the outside, it looked pretty, but very gloomy, because it was surrounded by dense, tall trees. The beer garden, however, was a total highlight – nice and bright and cozy. The food was good, although we all definitely missed salad dressing; it was almost nonexistent. I would gladly try it again, though.

I haven't experienced such poor service in a long time. The emotionalism of the service staff at this point is very unprofessional. If you're not into the job or overwhelmed by it, maybe you should change jobs. That's when 2,000 dollars easily slipped through the cracks. Absolutely not recommended!

A very nice restaurant with a great outdoor area – a truly atmospheric atmosphere, especially in the evenings. The food was of very good quality and beautifully presented. However, the prices are quite high, in my opinion, even by Munich standards. Anyone willing to spend a little more can still have a pleasant evening here.

The four of us dined here several times; thanks to the lovely weather, we ate in the sheltered, well-kept beer garden. The ambiance is Princess Elisabeth style, top notch! The food is second to none; compliments to the kitchen 🙃 The value for money is top-notch! We'll be back!

First of all: We've become reluctant to eat out in Munich these days. Poor service is usually combined with average quality at inflated prices. It's different here: We spontaneously went out for a light dinner with the family today. The parlor and beer garden are very tasteful, the ambiance is slightly upscale, and so is the consistently excellent food from a balanced menu. We were particularly impressed by the attentive waiter, Khaled. It's a shame there aren't more such dedicated and service-oriented people in the service department. This is how eating out is fun, and Munich needs exactly that! Thank you for the lovely dinner with you. We'll be back more often in the future!

Terribly slow service! We've been sitting and waiting for the bill for 20 minutes already!!!

Not cheap, but that is to be expected since the quality of food is very high. We went here on several occassions and tried a variety of dishes (from mussels and fish dumplings over meat to veggie dishes like pasta and risotto) - all of them were amazing! Seating indoors and outdoors on the terrace is lovely.

We went to Asam Schlossl based on a friend's recommendation who lives in the neighborhood and I'm so glad we went. The steaks were cooked to perfection and tasted incredible. Service was efficient and friendly. Chef / owner was very pleasant and a true Irish gentleman. If we lived in Munich, we'd be regulars. Well done!

Always a delight! We've been coming to the Asam Schlössl for years – and every time I'm amazed by the cuisine. Whether it's Bavarian classics, fine fish dishes, or something from the Big Green Egg – everything is made with love and tastes amazing. The service is warm, the ambiance is fantastic – both inside and in the beer garden. For me, one of the best places in Munich to enjoy a meal. Barbara & Shane are passionate hosts with heart! We were here for a company event. We had a long wait for the food, which I think is normal given the number of guests. However, the food was phenomenal.

Nice and varied place. However, the service wasn't up to par with the venue. A pretzel was ordered and never received, but it was on the bill. The accompanying salads were never received either. The dishes were received, but no table service was provided, and no server saw us waving, so we had to go get them ourselves. Throughout the meal, no server came to ask if everything was okay. However, the server didn't forget to ask if I wanted to add a tip... I think self-feedback would have spared him the hassle! Normally, I would have given it a 1, but the venue and the food don't deserve it. I hope for their sake that it was just a lapse that day.

Unfortunately, the roast pork was pretty bad; you could barely chew the meat; that's a rare occurrence here in Munich and the surrounding area. The Obatzda (traditional German dumpling) comes from Kugler's bucket—and judging by the taste, it seems like it's been sitting in the refrigerator for a while. And when half the food ends up on the plates, no one asks whether you enjoyed it when clearing away. Unfortunately, there's a lot going wrong here—not recommended.

End of June 2025: Steaks are still sooo good. We were there again 😅. Still very good quality steaks, grilled as requested. Reasonably priced compared to other restaurants, but also better than other restaurants. We come for steaks, whether in the beer garden or inside, simply enjoying the meal with a beer or a glass of wine. Service is great, thanks to the team. The atmosphere is lovely. Previous review: We'll be back. We were there in the evening at 6:30 p.m. and had porterhouse steaks with delicious vegetables and gratin. Grilled perfectly to order. The atmosphere is also very nice; smaller rooms with 5-10 tables (estimated) all look good. Attentive, respectful service, nice and friendly. It felt like family.

Horrible service and very unfriendly waiter. It took 1 hour and 20 minutes until we got our food! The waiter was just saying he doesn't know what's going on and just walked away. For such an overpriced place, you could at least offer proper service!

The location and setting is very nice. I have had nice food and experience here in the past. Last night the waiter was incredibly rude, we waited 45min for drinks, even longer for food and the pork roast was the worst I have ever had and a disgrace to Bavarian kitchen. I was embarrassed for the foreign guests that I invited to experience Bavarian hospitality and food. I would not come again after this.

Highly recommended. Great quality cuts of meat. Perfect grilling technique. Easily my favorite place for a good steak. Prices may be a little high overall, but you have options even on a budget.

The staff were exceptionally welcoming and accommodating! The manager came to check on us and she was very present in the entire restaurant, this made us feel very welcome and likely to recommend it to others!

Pretty consistent, nice location, creative menu with daily recommendations, courteous, friendly service. Classics, Grillarden from the Green Egg, everything to the point. Only the wine list has room for improvement, but that's the only downer, correct price-enjoyment ratio!

Whenever I'm in Munich, I make two or three visits. Excellent food, friendly and attentive service, a lovely outdoor seating area, and a cozy restaurant. Reservations are recommended on weekends.

We ate there last night. The food was excellent and the waiter was very nice. If we are in the area again we will gladly come back. We had a roast pork and a corn fried potato as well as a special steak from the daily menu. Unfortunately I can't remember the name of the steak. The owner is welcome to write the name of the steak underneath. It was 400g for 48€ 😊

Während andere Lokale beim Personal oftmals Probleme haben, glänzt hier echte Gastfreundschaft. Der perfekte Rahmen für unser Erstkommunionsfest - drei Generationen am Tisch, alle restlos zufrieden.

A very good restaurant with a twist on German and Bavarian dishes. Everything was super fresh and heartily prepared. The drinks were also good, and the service was friendly, helpful, and fast. The ambiance is rustic and classic, no frills. The prices are slightly high but perfectly reasonable for the quality. Around €35 ​​to €60 per person is a good price. Meat dishes are recommended, but there are also vegetarian options on the menu.

Decent but not spectacular Bavarian fare - there are easily half a dozen restaurants in Munich‘s city centre itself that serve up better food and the prices at this place ain’t any cheaper either despite being out of town. The upside is the nice quaint location though I’m not convinced that it’s worth the price premium or the travel time.
