Altstadtbrauhaus „Zum Stadtkrug“ in Schwerin

An absolute must in Schwerin! The old town brewery “Zum Stadtkrug” offers a great atmosphere with rustic charm and a cozy ambience. The in-house beer is a real highlight – freshly tapped and incredibly tasty! The food was excellent: hearty, regional cuisine prepared with great attention to detail. Especially the [insert your favorite dish here, e.g. B. pork knuckle or brewery pan] was a delight! The service was extremely friendly and attentive, despite the house being busy. Price-performance is absolutely consistent here. If you are in Schwerin, you shouldn't miss this brewery. I'll definitely be back!

Delicious beer, good food, good service. We were there during Christmas time 2024. Reservation recommended!

Wir waren anlässlich des Geburtstags meines Mannes mit fünf Personen dort. Als ich mein Essen bekam, war ich schockiert. Ich hatte das Hähnchenbrustfilet mit Feta-Kräuterkruste vom Grill = 19,90€. Als Beilage dazu die gebratene Champignons mit Zwiebeln für 3,90 €. Das Fleisch samt Kruste waren verbrannt (siehe auch Foto). Die anderen Gäste an unserem Tisch waren zufrieden mit ihrem Essen. Der Service war sehr schleppend. Bei der Zahlung wurde mir nur der Gesamtpreis gezeigt - keine detaillierte Auflistung der Speisen/Getränke. Die bekam ich erst als der Betrag gezahlt war und ich auf die Quittung bestanden habe. Nach Durchsicht musste ich dann feststellen, dass auf dem Bon eine Beilage berechnet wurde, die wir nicht bestellt & erhalten haben. Schade, es war wohl das letzte Mal in diesem Restaurant.

Although the brewery was very busy, we were welcomed very warmly and a place was found for us even without a reservation. The service was organized very well and quickly. The food was really very rich and extremely tasty.😋 We wish you a nice holiday and keep it up, there are complainers everywhere, they should do this job every day.

Schweriner Bierkutscher steak, "Brauhaus specialty", was not a 300g neck steak but 5mm dry schnitzel meat from the pan, not grilled. Fried potatoes ok, “colorful cabbage” without dip. Actually disappointing...

Das Essen war okay, aber wir wurden von den Damen aus dem Service trotz Reservierung mehrfach unfreundlich umgesetzt.

The technically satisfactory food was overshadowed by unfriendly service. We were handled several times by two different ladies from the service, sometimes in a very unfriendly manner, because the team did not coordinate sufficiently with each other or had difficulties using the reservation tool. Unfortunately, other guests seemed to be experiencing the same thing at the same time! As an alternative, we were given two separate tables as a “two-person reservation”, whereby we were surrounded by mountains of dust through the partitions on the left and right and in the back on the wood paneling. The same cleanliness could also be seen in the men's toilets, only with makeshift attempts at repairs and torn off soap dispensers.

Here you are always warmly welcomed with very good cuisine and value for money. We are from Potsdam and are always satisfied. I can only recommend it. Would love to come back.

We were there on Christmas Day and wanted to enjoy home-style cooking again. Very friendly, fast waitresses took the order and quickly brought drinks and food. I have to say about the latter: Lots and tasty - but a little too much for my taste, namely too much onions and too much fat. If you are sensitive to this, you should choose French fries as a side dish instead of fried potatoes. The promised dip for the Brauhausschnitzel turned out to be a bowl of garlic butter. Also delicious, but just not a dip. Otherwise there is nothing to complain about. You should be hungry, the portions are generous. The ambience is rather rustic, as befits a brewery restaurant. The price level is moderate, considering the portion sizes. Card payment is possible.

You should definitely try their own light and dark beer.

We have reserved for 10 people. This inn has a lovely rustic charm. The service was very friendly and attentive. Thanks for that. The food and drinks came quickly and were very tasty. We can only recommend everything

A very nice and quaint restaurant. The lunch menu for €8.90 is very tasty and sufficient. The only drawback is that it is very loud and conversation is hardly possible. Be sure to order tables in the run-up to Christmas.

Had a wonderful evening with delicious food

Es ist mit unser Lieblings Restaurant, haben auch seit Jahren immer den selben Tisch. Aber diesmal hat es nicht geklappt, als wir reingekommen sind sahen wir gleich komplett anderes Personal, anderer Tisch. Personal auch nicht so freundlich - bestellten dann wieder unser Lieblings Gericht und Getränke. Mußten sehr lange warten und auf einmal wurde das Essen geliefert, ohne Getränke vorweg. Es wurde natürlich vergessen, der uns das Essen gebracht hat, der fragte keine Getränke nein noch nicht, sagte wurde wohl vergessen, er ging dann zur Bar und holte uns denn die Getränke und wurden auch beleidigt, hier dann braucht ihr auch nicht weiter meckern. Das Bier helles, schmeckte voll komisch. Hatten den Schwarzbierburger mit Pommes - aber die Pommes waren sehr sehr schlecht hart klein fettig als wenn die wieder neu aufgewärmt wurden. Bestellten dann wieder neue Getränke, wo wir gleich sagten aber denn auch abschicken die Bestellung. Was uns gewundert hat das es für einen Freitag so leer war, was wir gar nicht kannten - dachten uns dann, bei dem Personal hat es sich wohl verschlechtert. Wir waren echt nicht so zufrieden wie sonst, zahlten und gingen dann.

Phew, difficult, 11 p.m. is the end of the day, from around 10 p.m. you get another drink and then you have to leave around 10:30 p.m. Really not that great.

Quaint restaurant, nice and tough service, acceptable prices

Everything has gone down except the prices. We had reserved a table for 2 people. The table was an imposition. Way too small. It barely fit 2 plates. The food wasn't a revelation either. I had Mecklenburger Schnitzel. Nothing special. Service was good and friendly.

Very disappointed!!! Despite a reservation, we were told right away that we only had 1.5 hours and that the table had to be free again because new guests were coming. The food was on the table 10 minutes later after ordering. The waitress then wanted to clear away, even though some were still eating. I imagine something different when it comes to a cozy evening with good food!!! Never again !

Wir waren zu zweit und wollten nachmittags essen. Wir haben uns dieses Lokal ausgesucht, da es zentral war und wir in der Nähe waren. Wir haben nach einem Tisch gefragt und erhielten einen nach kurzer Zeit, mit der Info, dass dieser bis 19:00 Uhr frei wäre. Wir waren irritiert, da das Restaurant groß war und sehr viele Tische frei waren. Die Bestellung wurde relativ schnell entgegengenommen von der Kellnerin und die Getränke kamen auch nach kurzer Zeit. Auf das Essen mussten wir leider etwas länger warten, so dass wir unter Zeitdruck kamen, wegen der Tischreservierung um 19:00 Uhr. Und dann kam das Essen. Dies war eine „Überraschung“ im negativen Sinne. Die Spareribs waren lau warm und die dazugehörigen Pommes mehrfach durch die Fritteuse „gewandert“. Als wir die Kellnerin darauf ansprachen und die Pommes zurückgaben mit dem Hinweis, dass diese nicht essbar sind, zog sie ein Gesicht und ging. Danach kam eine andere Kellnerin, die freundlich war und die Information der Küche weiter geben wollte. Wäre die letzte Kellnerin nicht gewesen, hätte es noch einen Punkt weniger gegeben.

A quaint, very cozy brewery. Despite the hut being full and without a reservation, we got a nice seat. The service was nice and very attentive. The starters came quickly as did the main courses. As a main course we each had a Wiener Schnitzel which was really very good. The house beer was also delicious. This restaurant is fully recommended.

The food is very good. I have rarely eaten such a good Wiener Schnitzel.

Like everywhere in Schwerin Food is no longer up to date and not of good quality

We stopped there after a 7-hour train ride without knowing what to expect. The atmosphere was very pleasant, the staff was super friendly and always up for a little joke. The food was very good, in my case the Hamburger Schnitzel, very tasteful and the house beer was also very good to drink. If I ever come to Schwerin again, I know where I would like to go again.

It couldn't be worse! Altstadt Brauhaus – a disgrace for the gastronomy! I am simply STUNNED at what happened to us here! What is referred to as “service” in the Altstadt Brauhaus is nothing but sheer impudence! We wanted to celebrate a birthday and had reserved a table in advance, but what we then experienced was simply shocking. As soon as we entered we were greeted by an outrageously cheeky waitress who obviously had no idea what politeness was. There was no greeting, but a cheeky request, "Wait here!" As soon as we had mentioned the huge problem - the unbearable, screaming children's noise - we were told coldly in the face: "Then leave if you don't like it!" So I have never encountered a disrespectful answer in a restaurant! Are you serious, Altstadt Brauhaus?! Despite reservations and the information that it was a birthday party, there was ZERO preparation: no decorated table, no nice gesture - absolutely NOTHING - instead of simply offering us another, quieter place. It was very clear that anyone who complained about the deafening children's noise would be kicked out! We have absolutely nothing against children, but this constant screaming is simply out of place in the restaurant! Children can also learn that a restaurant is not a playground - at least that was the case in the past. Today, some parents seem to have given up on raising children completely, and this is still supported here. A shame! My conclusion: If you're hoping for a nice day without bully "service" and a kindergarten atmosphere, you should give the Altstadt Brauhaus a wide berth. This store is a prime example of treating guests like dirt. I have never experienced anything like this and I really wouldn't wish it on anyone. Save yourself the money and the nerves – it’s best to AVOID this “restaurant”!

Easy table reservations possible via the website and highly recommended in the late afternoon and evening hours. Fast friendly service. We really enjoyed the food and the Schweriner Altstadtbräu dark. What I will never understand, and this applies to the majority of restaurants, is why you don't rely 100% on regional products when it comes to beer? Hefeweizen is also available in the region, so it doesn't have to be carted over 850 km from the Allgäu. Therefore a star deduction.

Impossible!! We wanted to drink 1 or 2 beers in a brewery at 8.45 p.m., the place was almost empty!! We weren't even allowed to sit at a bar table on the grounds that everything was reserved, that's what we call customers (un)friendly...Never again! 1 atern is still too many

In front of the restaurant, inexpensive lunches are advertised. The only good thing was the salad, the fries had been in the deep fryer for too long and were too salty, and the schnitzel was burnt on one side. The whole thing is accompanied by a bad-tempered service.

At first we couldn't get a table for 2, we were sorry about that, we stayed outside for a bit and then some people came out from the restaurant, we tried again, it was another waiter, she was more smiling and customer-oriented, so there was room to us. We each got a schnitzel, with braised potatoes, the food tasted really good, we also got a couple of beers.

Drinking a glass of wine is too much effort. Service slow and unenthusiastic. Interior old with strange colors. Chairs still covered in rubbish from previous diners. Lamps with a few bulbs broken and crooked. No love.

An absolutely great restaurant. Cozy, the service staff were absolutely on their toes, quick and always with a funny saying on their lips. The dishes were plentiful, well prepared and very tasty. Try the fisher's spirit served piping hot! You should definitely reserve in advance (possible online). For people with disabilities: there are steps at the entrance and also inside or to the toilet. The building does not allow for any change. It may be possible to do this with a walker (with help); this should be requested when making the reservation by telephone. Otherwise: great restaurant - absolutely recommended

We were there on a Saturday at 8:55 p.m. When we went in we were immediately told rather harshly by the landlady that the kitchen closed at 9 p.m. It would be fine if it didn't say the kitchen closes at 9:30 p.m. outside.

Reservations strongly recommended for lunch and dinner. Popular with groups! The pork tenderloin with salad was tender and grilled just right. The portion was large. You'll be full here. The beef in aspic tasted excellent in combination with fried potatoes. No pork is recommended. The restaurant was fully booked at lunchtime. Despite being busy, the staff remained friendly. We'll be back!

I was here as part of a class reunion with 15 people. From the reservation to the stay in the restaurant, everything was completely satisfactory. The ambience is excellent, as is the service and the food. Good portions at a reasonable price and very tasty.

One thing in advance - the food is good! Likewise the service. At least that's what I thought until we just paid. Because we were asked by the waitress, who had been quite nice (and corpulent) up to that point (after she had received our 3 euro tip!!!!), why we were able to give her young assistant a 5 euro tip... with all due respect I alone decide who and how much I tip as a guest! My mother and I meant well to the young girl because she always served us drinks in a friendly and courteous manner throughout the evening. In many years of restaurant experience, I have never experienced why we as guests have to justify who we tip and how much when we pay. Absolutely customer-unfriendly and especially towards my mother, who was really insulting the waitress about why she was “ONLY”!!!! I received a tip of 3 euros in contrast to the 5 euros from the other colleague, a disgrace! Despite the good food, this was our last visit to this restaurant because as a guest I apparently have to apologize for who I tip and how much. This has never happened to us before and is simply absurd.

We were here with a reservation with 15 people. There was nothing to complain about here. Service staff super nice and quick. The food selection is very manageable, but you don't have to wait that long for your food. All 15 people were absolutely thrilled with their selection. Only recommended.

Must visit in Schwerin. We went to dinner without a reservation and, although we went at 6:00 p.m., it was already full. The waitress told us that it is better to make a reservation, but she did everything possible to find us a table. The place is very cozy, almost all made of wood and with traditional decoration. At midday they have menus and at night, at least from Tuesday to Thursday, they have recommended dishes at a special price. So we tried this Tuesday's dish, the hamburger, which was huge and left us very satisfied. To drink we have had Schwerin's "hell" beer, which is available in three formats: small (0.3L), medium (0.4L) and large (1L). They had many other beers, which seemed very tasty. The menu was extensive and has many German specialties, there are vegetarian and vegan options on the menu, the desserts looked delicious but we have not tried them due to the aforementioned satiety. At midday they also have offers on dishes from €8.90. The place dates back to very remote dates, I think 1817 and has a very interesting history told in its letter. They hold many events throughout the year, such as the 90's party, special children's day or the Christmas party. Finally, it is worth mentioning that the bathrooms are at the end of a narrow staircase, this could be a problem for people with reduced mobility. I highly recommend the visit and would return.

Terrible, the food was burnt and the meat was as tough as shoe sole, no excuses, the staff was overwhelmed, the so-called beer garden, ridiculous, not recommended!!!

A traditional site in the center of Schwerin. Many dishes to choose from. Very good atmosphere and above all: they are very friendly. The pork neck with garnish was spectacular, as was the stout. Without a doubt recommended.

Very friendly staff and very tastefully decorated. But boring for vegetarians: there used to be changes (the lukewarm lentil salad and the tomato soup, for example, were delicious), but now it's always the same. My husband and I go to other restaurants now. Too bad!

Friendly staff and good food at a good price

We've never experienced anything like this before. The first time we sat on the street and were served friendly and quickly. By the time we were finished, the waitress appeared to be off work. We sat there for 40 minutes with empty plates and glasses and were even ignored by another waiter who saw us sitting there. Only a third waiter cleared away. Then we wanted to give this restaurant another chance, so we went and sat down at a table on the street again. This time no one came at the beginning. Then I saw the display on which the guests were invited to the beer garden. When we went in to ask, there was a totally overwhelmed and annoyed service person standing at the counter. They pointed out to us rather rudely that they couldn't do all of this at the moment. So we went somewhere else and received friendly service there. We'll never go to the Altstadtbrauhaus again. And we weren't the only guests who had this unpleasant experience.

Unfortunately it wasn't possible to get 4 beers from the lady at the counter to quench his thirst. Apparently there were too many guests in the house and a group also came. We just wanted to have a beer. A male waitress would certainly never have said that. It's a shame because the brewery wasn't full.

The bread is crispy, the pork ribs are delicious, the milkshake is delicious, and the service staff is very friendly.

Unfortunately I cannot agree with the positive reviews. I ordered the brewery burger. The bottom bun was burnt and the rest of the bun was very tough. Unfortunately the patty was very unseasoned and not very edible. The fries also had very little salt and were unfortunately almost cold when they arrived. My children's ordered ketchup and mayo were only served after I asked again. The waitress was very accommodating and even introduced herself by name, something I've never experienced before. 5 stars for that The ambience is very nice even though we were sitting at the entrance and someone often entered the restaurant. So it wasn't very quiet I didn't like the women's toilet in the basement. Unfortunately, it almost smelled like a Dixiklo. Nevertheless, I would give the restaurant another chance if I were to be in the area again. But then with another dish 😄

Very nice restaurant in the center of Schwerin. 11 people with different dishes were very well entertained. All the dishes came at the same time and were very tasty. The waitress Sandy, with her friendly manner, was particularly enriching. Her recommendation with fisherman's spirit for dessert was great. Thank you for the lovely evening.

A beautiful brewery. The staff was very welcoming. The food was excellent and the portions were large. What made me happy was that there were steins and the beer was wonderful. I can highly recommend this restaurant. I thought the venison bratwurst was really tasty. My wife also thought the sour meat was really good, the vegetarian dish with goat cheese was also very good and the classic schnitzel with mushrooms was also good, you could tell that the mushrooms were fresh. All in all, we all enjoyed ourselves there.

It's still a nice restaurant, but unfortunately the music in the background and the guests as well as the food menu have changed quite a bit towards a very modern and "hip" restaurant. Has lost some of its old brewery charm and the speed of service has also decreased with less staff density (drinks come clearly after the meal). Nevertheless, the old-style cuisine is still very tasty
