Nice beer garden, friendly service, but the food didn't blow us away: fries were good, burgers were OK, suckling pig was too dry, and the potato dumpling was a rubbery lump.

For a reason I can't fathom in retrospect, I assumed it would "start" at 11:00. So I entered, peed, sat down in the beer garden, and started ordering. The waitresses remained very friendly and matter-of-fact: "You can have the light beer right away, but the white sausages won't be available until 11:30." I read that you get free tickets for the beer festival if you write reviews on Google—really, with photos. So I crawled onto one of the umbrellas to take a picture of the logo on the other umbrella—essentially risking my life. I didn't get a chance to take the obligatory selfie: I slipped. By the way: It's a good thing the old landlord labels his salt shakers—well, I would have thought they were peppercorns!

We were in the beer garden, and it was simply beautiful. So typically Bavarian. I love going to Munich, and from now on, I'll be a regular here. The service was quick and courteous. The food was very good, and the price was really reasonable. You don't often find a half-liter of beer for under €5 in Munich these days. So, we were completely satisfied. We'd love to come back. It was a very pleasant evening in a great atmosphere.

The service wasn't particularly friendly, rather lackluster. The food is really expensive, especially the portions. My daughter ordered a medium roast beef with onions, but she got a tiny piece of meat with 1 kg of onions, and it was just cooked through, which I personally don't find surprising, as the meat was so small and thin. Then our dessert, Kaiserschmarren, was so overcooked and the portion was okay. So, we certainly wouldn't recommend it. I've had much better in Munich.

Highly recommended. The food and service were excellent. Parking is available. On our evening, there were also folk musicians performing a wide variety of music. They were able to play our music request promptly. A very enjoyable evening!

Exceptionally friendly service, a rustic atmosphere. Unfortunately, the snack board was a disappointment for the hefty price of €20. The bread was stale, the pretzel I ordered was the same as yesterday's, and the ham and cheese were mediocre. It's a shame, as with the friendly and cheerful staff, good food would have rounded off the evening.

For us, this is the absolute culinary winner with a feel-good factor. We spent four days in Munich, three of which were in a row at the beautiful, quaint, and very well-kept Alter Wirt! While the restaurants in the city aren't bad either, they can't compete with the friendliness, great food, and correspondingly generous portions in my opinion. We made a last-minute reservation (an hour in advance) for a larger group of 10 people – it was completely uncomplicated and friendly. The welcome was warm, and the ambiance was wonderfully rustic and traditional. Most of us had knuckles of pork, which were delicious – crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside. The other dishes on the menu were also consistently delicious. Despite our group size, the food arrived surprisingly quickly and simultaneously – huge praise for the kitchen and service! The team was attentive, friendly, and professional. Overall, a truly successful evening – we'll definitely be back!

My boyfriend and I were vacationing in Munich and stumbled upon this Bavarian restaurant. Our impressions of the day were positive from start to finish. The staff were really friendly and accommodating, yet not at all intrusive. The food arrived super quickly, and everything was just perfect. The meat was cooked to perfection, and our dessert, our Kaiserschwarn (smoked scallop), was simply magnificent. We can wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone. It was a fantastic experience with an exceptional taste experience!

We went to Alter Wirt for lunch on Friday. There we were met by a waiter who kindly led us into the garden. He helped us choose dishes and drinks. Everything was done in the best possible way. Large portions, the beer was the freshest. We left full and in a great mood.

So I/we don't understand how the reviews here are always so great. Maybe it's because there's a Oktoberfest table up for grabs, so they leave a review? The food is somewhere between a canteen and a convenience store. We're not talking about quantity here, but rather quality for the price paid. Juice spritzer (as advertised on the menu) with currant and rhubarb syrup, and the service is either overwhelmed or completely overly friendly. Some people probably remember this beer garden from its better days, but to us it seemed more like a money-making machine for tourists. It's definitely good for drinking beer, but as we all know, you can do that very often in Munich. Conclusion: There are many places where you can do much better!

We celebrated our graduation party here and couldn't have asked for a better place! A super friendly team, delicious food, and a fantastic atmosphere. Thank you for an unforgettable evening!

The dishes were fresh, flavorful, and lovingly prepared – simply delicious. The atmosphere was also very pleasant, and the service was extremely friendly and attentive. If you're in the area, you should definitely stop by – a definite recommendation!

Having arrived late, I didn't think the brasserie would welcome me for dinner, but in the end I had my delicious slice of roast pork quickly with an unforgettable atmosphere worthy of what you would expect in Munich!

We had a lovely and entertaining visit there. Marco served us excellently with delicious food and beer at reasonable prices. It wasn't my last time there. One of the band members happened to be from the Cologne/Bonn area, like us. Carnival music was spontaneously played.

Not only the oldest pub in Munich, but also one of the best! Service is outstanding as always, the food is hearty yet modern. Many events take place and there's a great beer garden! The half-liter and one-liter beer are always a delight, and they also serve good wines and schnapps. We always enjoy coming here, no matter the season or the event—a Moosach institution!

After a karate DAN exam, eight of us went to the beautiful garden of the Alter Wirt Moosach. The atmosphere was very relaxed and typically Bavarian—perfect for a celebration. The food was truly excellent Bavarian pub fare: fresh, delicious, and plentiful. Everyone particularly enjoyed the classics like schnitzel and duck. The service was attentive and friendly, even with our large group. We definitely recommend it; we'll be back!

The food doesn't even arrive an hour after you ordered it! Incredibly slow. Then it doesn't even arrive. After an hour, they say they'll bring it. Who wants to eat at 9 p.m. while hungry for another hour?! They don't even apologize.

This is probably the only restaurant with a beer garden near the station. You can enjoy HB beer and delicious German food. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is not harsh, which is my favorite point.

When the weather is nice, it can take up to 30 minutes to get your drinks.

At beer gardens in Bavaria, it's assumed that you can bring your own snacks. Especially if the website describes the terrace and beer garden separately. When you were seated in what was supposedly the self-service area (there were beer benches here), you were asked to sit in the seated area, as the other area was closed for some unknown reason. After moving to the seated area, you were brought menus, but no one came to order your food. So you left without food. All in all, a disappointment.

Here you'll find a wide selection of delicious vegan dishes, which is quite unusual for traditional inns and beer gardens. We had the "i-Tüpferl" (various vegan spreads with a bread basket). We also had peppers stuffed with rice and vegan mince, red cabbage, and a side salad. Everything was delicious, and the portions were filling (we had to have some packed up). The staff is very friendly and quick. We always enjoy coming here.

Things always run smoothly at the Alter Wirt 🍻 Since I live right next door, the Alter Wirt is a regular pub for me. When my parents come to visit from the Netherlands, we definitely go there every day. Sometimes even several times a day. The food is always excellent, the people are friendly, and the atmosphere is simply fantastic. Whether inside in the winter among the Christmas decorations or outside in the beer garden, you just feel at home here. For me, the Alter Wirt is a special place that I highly recommend to everyone!

06/2025 - Today only two stars, because the service was only okay, the food only okay, water pressure in the restroom was mediocre, and the hand dryers were cold. When there's nothing else going on, I expect top-notch service, and it's unacceptable to wait 20 minutes for drinks. It's worth mentioning that we were offered dessert and coffee. What was completely unacceptable, however, was that when the tables behind us were being prepared, we had to apologize for still sitting there. A drink with ginger unfortunately didn't have ginger. Only after asking was it served was ginger provided. Menu very good. Drinks menu very good. Then we ordered a vegan meal and mentioned that we would like two plates because two people were sharing. The food was very, very large, and we thought, "Oh, great for the price." But then the bill showed the meal twice. We honestly didn't like that. The waitress accidentally spilled an iced coffee all over our table, hitting a cell phone and shoes. The waitress immediately cleaned and dried the phone and apologized. Unfortunately, there was nothing but apologies. I should also mention that we had made advance reservations for a large number of people. Especially in this heat, I expect people to ask for drinks right away. What a shame. The service here still has a lot of room for improvement. 11/2019 - We had our Christmas party here. Advance reservations, email exchanges, and last-minute drop-off of our gifts went smoothly. THANK YOU. The waitresses were super nice and very helpful. The food was delicious. We'd love to come back. Everything was great! The food and beer were great, and the service was also excellent: from friendliness to speed, everything was top-notch. That evening, I only had to contend with the many flies, so the ambiance was only 4/5. But there's always room for improvement ;-)

I've visited this inn many times. Everything I've eaten here has been delicious. The service is excellent and they also have a sense of humor. I think the value for money is excellent. It's also very easily accessible by public transport, and I can recommend this inn, which dates back to 1442, to everyone.

I've been going to the old inn for years. My parents first brought me here as a child. That's where I learned to love the schnitzel with cranberries. I've never been any different since... today I was there again. The food is always excellent and the waiters are incredibly friendly and welcoming. The Bavarian cream dessert was a perfect ending. The "Alte Wirt" (Old Innkeeper) in real life is a very personable boss and very keen to welcome "the future," small children, to his beer garden. The rabbit hutch and playground confirm the family-friendly attitude. The food was excellent, as usual. (Wienerschnitzel is highly recommended) Whether big or small, Alte Wirt in Moosach is a must! The Bonny Tones added even more charm to the children's birthday party in the beer garden. Thank you for that!

Nice atmosphere. Super friendly and witty service :-) The schnitzel was perfect, as were the potatoes, meatballs, and sauce from the other dish. Only the fried onions on top were too dry, not crispy, and even partially burnt. I still enjoyed it overall; I picked out the onions that were still good. The portions were generous.

Very friendly staff, a nice playground for children in the beer garden, and the food is fresh and always arrives super quickly. We love going here as a family. The beer stein heaven in the inn is also a highlight when the weather is too bad for the beer garden!

The food was a real treat: 🥗 The salad with grilled chicken was fresh, crisp, and perfectly seasoned – with a sweet and spicy dressing that went wonderfully with it. 🍺 The freshly tapped draft beer (HB, of course!) was ice-cold and wonderfully refreshing – just what you need in summer weather. 🍽 And the highlight to finish: Kaiserschmarrn! Light and fluffy, with raisins, almonds, and powdered sugar, served with fruity plum jam and applesauce – simply heavenly! The service was also top-notch: friendly, attentive, yet pleasantly unassuming. You can tell the heart and soul of the place is put into the work. This was my second visit to this restaurant. Just like the first time, the food and drinks were truly excellent. Unfortunately, the service on my second visit was a bit disappointing. We had to wait over an hour for our drinks, and some of them even brought us the wrong ones. Nevertheless, I can highly recommend this restaurant and hope this was just a slip-up. I'll be happy to come back and look forward to my next visit.

Don't come here on a nice day! The staff is hopelessly overwhelmed. Ordering food takes over an hour. You can't get anything to drink either. The waitress doesn't know what was ordered; they don't even bring a cooked fish on a stick. The bar staff just stands around and doesn't look overworked. Yet, you still can't get a drink to your table.

There were eleven of us and we had reserved a table for 7:00 p.m. The reservation was forgotten, but the waiter wanted to make sure a table in the beer garden was set up as quickly as possible. After a 10-minute wait, we were able to take our seats and look forward to a pleasant evening with delicious food. Unfortunately, we were both extremely disappointed: the wait for drinks was a full hour, and even after that hour, a third of our order was still missing. I never would have thought this could be topped, but I was proven wrong. Going into detail here would go beyond the scope of this article, but in summary, I must say that those in charge should urgently consider a career change; the kitchen and service were complete failures!

Great selection, delicious food, friendly service. Everything was great! The fish in the colorful salad (see photo) was very, very tasty! The salad dressing was also good, not too sour. In the summer, they serve fish on a stick, and there's a rabbit enclosure for children to explore.
