Quaint restaurant with a beer garden, definitely worth a visit!

I ordered the knuckle, it was lukewarm and I let it warm up. Service rather unfriendly! Price performance rather sufficient. We won't be visiting the restaurant again!

Unfortunately, the brown sauce with the spaetzle was pretty bad for a Bavarian restaurant. That means it was brutally heavy and a bit sour, way too strongly spiced, almost too salty. That's why I could hardly eat the spaetzle because I had already poured the sauce on it beforehand and it tasted way too strong, so I couldn't taste any good, delicious sauce flavor, and unfortunately I had to leave half of the spaetzle soaked in sauce. The prices, moreover, were also very high. The tortellini with tomato sauce, however, was very tasty. But I'm no longer sure if it was from this restaurant. The photo? The waiters weren't particularly attentive to us, and overall they weren't particularly friendly, but rather stressed, bored, and uninterested. Did you have an effect on us? Not experienced any special commitment. The only nice thing about the whole thing was the beautiful ambience, the huge beer garden with plants, and the great restaurant inside and out.

Unfortunately, the old innkeeper has become very neglectful. Yesterday I had a salad with goat cheese for €18. On the plate were 2 slices of goat cheese and a heap of lettuce the size of my fist. Not acceptable for the price.

Poor service. I waited 12 minutes for the waitress to see me. Maybe I'm invisible. Average food. Pork knuckle wasn't crispy, portion wasn't very big. For the price, I expected more. There are better options in town. I don't recommend it.

The beer is good and only that. Terrible service even though there were few people we repeatedly asked for cutlery and napkins without being considered. Some really embarrassing dishes, look for something else. Value for money non-existent.

In 2020 we moved to Moosach and were looking forward to being able to go out for a relaxed meal again after the long restrictions caused by the Corona measures. A visit to the traditional inn "Zum Alten Wirt" was high on our list - unfortunately, in retrospect this turned out to be a bad decision. When we entered the beer garden we were first asked whether we wanted to sit inside or outside. Since the outdoor area was already full, we – as non-smokers – consciously decided to sit indoors. At this point we were the only guests in the guest room. When we walked past the bar, where there were three employees, we weren't greeted at first. Only when we actively started a conversation ourselves did we receive attention. The waiter in charge expressed incomprehension about our choice of seating and commented that the weather outside was nice. Our comment that, as non-smokers, we didn't prefer the fully occupied beer garden was met with a less than understanding facial expression. We ordered two drinks and also asked for a glass with ice cubes. This request was accepted, but only reluctantly. We also had to ask for the menu ourselves. When the drinks were brought, the waiter put them on the table without comment and without asking what we wanted. The glass with ice cubes was also missing. A few minutes later he returned and asked if we had chosen anything. I politely replied that we had done this before but he had moved away very quickly. The waiter then responded in an inappropriate tone and replied: “You are not the only guests here.” We found this reaction to be inappropriate and irritating. After ordering, we asked again about the ice cubes. The waiter responded with an annoyed sigh. At this point we decided to pay for the drinks and leave the place. When we asked him about his behavior, he asked what he had done wrong. I politely pointed out that his facial expressions and demeanor didn't seem very friendly. Instead of showing insight, he started a discussion and explained that we were the only guests who had ever had problems with him - everyone else was very happy. I then stated that I intended to contact management the next day. He then referred to the operations manager, who was near the bar. Although he obviously noticed the incident, he did not react. Shortly after the waiter spoke to him, the manager left the room. The behavior of both the service staff and the responsible manager struck us as extremely unprofessional and uninterested in solving problems. Because of this experience, we will no longer visit the restaurant in the future - which we very much regret given the generally attractive atmosphere.

The service staff is very nice and accommodating. Unfortunately the food was not very satisfactory. I had the Brzenschnitzel with fries, which was also completely okay. My husband's quarter duck was completely dried out and the sauce was watery. So unfortunately not recommended.

You can eat and drink great there, the ambience and service is good, and the price-performance ratio is also completely okay. I can recommend the business without any ifs or buts.

Used to be one of my favorite places. Unfortunately, they remodeled it at some point and sacrificed the coziness that the beautiful bar brought to the restaurant in favor of maximum seating capacity. Now it just looks like a canteen, just tables and chairs everywhere. Really a shame. 😞 Food is still good though

Good food, normal prices for Munich, authentic ambience

We ate here again after a year. The food in and of itself was okay. You can get this quality in almost every Bavarian restaurant in Munich. The two waitresses (shift change) we had were both very nice and quick. What doesn't make sense to me, however, is why you have to pay €1.50 for a change of side dish, in our case a potato salad with the schnitzel instead of fries. Doesn't it matter what the chef puts on the plate? I actually see no justification for this. But now, in my opinion, comes the worst this restaurant has to offer. The rabbits in the beer garden area. These poor animals sit crammed into tiny cells. A large specimen kept trying to turn. But it doesn't work. The animal cannot move and sits in the same place day and night. It's unthinkable when the beer garden starts operating and the poor animals also have to deal with the children. Who will knock on the cells with a roar. The rabbits then sit in their cells in a panic while they are then exposed to the blazing sun. Since I think they were purchased as an attraction for the little visitors, I would like to say, wouldn't there have been a climbing frame, sanitary bin and swing to keep the little ones entertained? I'm seriously considering whether we should contact the veterinary office's "endangered animal husbandry" department.

The ALTE WIRT is definitely highly recommended. Particularly worthy of mention is the extremely friendly and attentive service. We had a small complaint about warm food (it was only lukewarm), but the response was immediately very positive and we received a completely fresh and hot meal. Really really great service. The food in general was very tasty. Roast pork highly recommended, sauce excellent. It might be an advantage to make a reservation. Great beer garden in summer... we still have to try it out. Thank you again, we felt “very comfortable”. We will definitely be back and can only recommend the ALTEN WIRT.

Now I have to get rid of it: Every visit to the “Alter Wirt” in Moosach was a pleasure. The duck was tender, fell apart in the mouth, the crust was deliciously crispy and flavorful. There was also red cabbage and dumplings - simply great The Nuremberg sausages are always tasty, but they come with sauerkraut: incomparably delicious. Marco offers a great service, not only does he give good advice, he is charming and funny, and entertains quickly with a delightfully sharp tongue... (I had to take good care of my wife, she would have liked to enjoy his charm longer

We have been regulars at this location for years. Since the operator changed here, some of the food in particular is not edible. From lukewarm, uncooked soups, to snacks without Obazda, to mini-portions of wild game that have been cooked to death. There are now much better pubs in Moosach.

I've been coming here for years... and each time I notice that this famous old innkeeper is becoming more and more subpar. Food is becoming more expensive, less and of poorer quality. I'll only enjoy the beer garden outside in the summer... otherwise that's it. Unfortunately

I would have liked to give it 5 stars, but unfortunately my experience wasn't all that positive. I've been there three times - at different times - and each time the food didn't entirely impress me. Unfortunately, the duck was a bit dry and overcooked, the spaetzle could have been creamier, and the Kaiserschmarrn was served floating in oil. The ambience is cozy, but quite loud, making conversation difficult at times. It's fine for drinking and the atmosphere, but I still see room for improvement when it comes to food. I hope that something happens here in the future, because the restaurant definitely has potential.

Company Christmas party in the Altes Wirt – a complete success! Our Christmas party began with a round of curling before heading to the cozy ambience of the Altes Wirt. We were warmly welcomed outside the curling rink by our waiter Marco and were well looked after throughout the evening. He was always attentive, friendly and made sure we didn't lack anything. The food was excellent, the selection of drinks was good and the atmosphere was simply great. A special thank you to Marco for the first class service! We'd love to come back! 😊

We were in Munich with friends at the weekend and ate twice at the Alten Wirt. What can I say…..Mega!!!! The pork knuckle was top notch and everything else was top!!!!! The restaurant manager Rainer is a professional and an expert in his field, the whole team is super friendly and competent. We'll be back, for sure!!!!!!!!

Today was my first time with my boys. There I have to say, such a good Bavarian restaurant, which is rare in Munich. What particularly stands out, I don't know, I think it was the restaurant manager. His name was Reiner, the gentleman was very accommodating, very friendly and often asked if everything was okay with us, keep it up

The kitchen is good with a lot of experience...but the prices have gone up spectacularly!

The meat in the Wildgulasch was tough and overcooked. The Schweinehaxe meat was tough but the skin was good - likely overcooked or pre-cooked and held for too long in a dry environment like an oven. Even the Speck crumbles on top of the soup were hard. The waiter was too busy and we often waited for refills. We had to initiate all reorders and fixes to our order. Nice atmosphere but they HAVE TO do better with the food and service. We were disappointed.

We went to Florian Otto's magic show (very good by the way) in the old inn. After the soup, an accident happened: the waitress let a beer glass slip and it spilled over my right shoulder and the right side of my pants. That can happen to anyone, but then there was only a short apology from the landlord and the waitress, and then it was followed up with, "If the clothes have to go to the dry cleaners, I should send the bill to the landlord. That's actually normal and regulated by law . And I found that I then had to pay the entire bill for the drinks..... In other restaurants (I've observed that) the guest was courted with drinks or other benefits after such a mishap. But not here.

If the nice waiter is a bit more talkative - 5 stars 😉

Yesterday we went to the Bavarian comedy dinner for beginners. It was a fun evening, but also very exaggerated and at times annoying and tiring. The food was good and appropriate to the theme evening. The service was ok.

We got the schnitzel plate and it was amazing! So much food, it could have easily fed 3 or 4 people 😅 I think my favourites were the spätzle with the mushroom sauce and the brezel-crusted schnitzel, but the regular one was super tender and delicious too. And you can’t beat the location! Traditional Bavarian beer garden 🍻

Very nice Bavarian brewery kept in excellent condition. Beautiful Christmas decorations! Wooden table I and mugs of excellent beer. A good choice of local dishes. Friendly staff even if a little rushed. Menu in English also available. Good quality. Internal or street parking.

Unfortunately, the roasted onions were not cooked to the desired cooking point. Meat was also a bit tough. The fried potatoes are a complete disaster. Soft, cold and dripping with fat. With the dessert you can taste that it must be frozen goods and the raspberry sauce has a totally artificial taste. The service is okay overall. Unfortunately the coffee arrived at the table lukewarm -.-

Very cozy, very harmonious... and super good food!!

We had dinner as a family. Although everything was full, we were accommodated in the hall, where more guests came. A service as you wish. The food was probably the best I've ever eaten. Goose breast with potato dumplings is the dream. A really authentic Bavarian restaurant. We will eat there again next time we visit Munich. LG from Austria

Went to the Altes Wirt for the second time today. Again it was delicious and the service was great. The food is typically Bavarian and tastes very good. A reservation, especially if the beer garden is not open, definitely makes sense. We'd love to come back :)

We've eaten there several times and the pretzel schnitzel with fries is legendary.

Just ate there. The oldest restaurant in Munich, 582 years old and you can tell, it works perfectly. There was really something going on, but the service staff still had a complete overview. There were no long waiting times, the food was on point. I couldn't take a photo of the schnitzel because it was eaten too quickly 😂. The Kaiserschmarren is a poem. We are visiting Munich this weekend and will probably come again tomorrow.

A very large Bavarian inn with many separate rooms and buildings on the farm. The staff is very nice, but forgetful. The atmosphere is very quaint and beautiful. There is also a separate room in the main building for larger groups. There is a playground for children in the yard. Parking spaces for guests are also available. The food is really very good. One of the best roast pork I've ever eaten. The prices are moderate. Gladly again!

The food was good atmosfere too

We've eaten here several times, the roast pork is always ok, the duck is rather dry and has limp skin, but still ok. Today, however, the food was really bad. I had the Viennese veal schnitzel with fried potatoes for around €26...the schnitzel was dripping with fat, but the fried potatoes were even more so, and they were absolutely soggy and kept warm in the pan for ages. It had nothing to do with crispy fried potatoes. Every apprentice chef can do this better. And the cranberries were cheap. But the Kaiserschmarren was almost an impertinence. It came to the table after exactly 6 minutes, so at best it was either kept warm or frozen. It was also dripping with fat and stuck to the plate, the applesauce and plum compote were the cheapest of the cheap...inedible! It's a shame, the staff is nice but the cook is just bad...
