Alter Wirt Moosach in München

We got the schnitzel plate and it was amazing! So much food, it could have easily fed 3 or 4 people 😅 I think my favourites were the spätzle with the mushroom sauce and the brezel-crusted schnitzel, but the regular one was super tender and delicious too. And you can’t beat the location! Traditional Bavarian beer garden 🍻

Food tasty, quick and inexpensive. Delicious 🍺 Parking spaces free of charge. My highlight: roast onion roast. Lots of cheese pätzle portion! small.

In the end at 10.20 we slipped out without any prior warning. To be bold, we should drink quickly.

Very nice Bavarian brewery kept in excellent condition. Beautiful Christmas decorations! Wooden table I and mugs of excellent beer. A good choice of local dishes. Friendly staff even if a little rushed. Menu in English also available. Good quality. Internal or street parking.

Unfortunately, the roasted onions were not cooked to the desired cooking point. Meat was also a bit tough. The fried potatoes are a complete disaster. Soft, cold and dripping with fat. With the dessert you can taste that it must be frozen goods and the raspberry sauce has a totally artificial taste. The service is okay overall. Unfortunately the coffee arrived at the table lukewarm -.-

(I eat little meat) delicious roast pork/dumplings etc. and dessert - apple fritters with ice cream! 😍 For years ! Very cozy, very harmonious... and super good food!!

We had dinner as a family. Although everything was full, we were accommodated in the hall, where more guests came. A service as you wish. The food was probably the best I've ever eaten. Goose breast with potato dumplings is the dream. A really authentic Bavarian restaurant. We will eat there again next time we visit Munich. LG from Austria

Went to the Altes Wirt for the second time today. Again it was delicious and the service was great. The food is typically Bavarian and tastes very good. A reservation, especially if the beer garden is not open, definitely makes sense. We'd love to come back :)

We've eaten there several times and the pretzel schnitzel with fries is legendary.

Just ate there. The oldest restaurant in Munich, 582 years old and you can tell, it works perfectly. There was really something going on, but the service staff still had a complete overview. There were no long waiting times, the food was on point. I couldn't take a photo of the schnitzel because it was eaten too quickly 😂. The Kaiserschmarren is a poem. We are visiting Munich this weekend and will probably come again tomorrow.

A very large Bavarian inn with many separate rooms and buildings on the farm. The staff is very nice, but forgetful. The atmosphere is very quaint and beautiful. There is also a separate room in the main building for larger groups. There is a playground for children in the yard. Parking spaces for guests are also available. The food is really very good. One of the best roast pork I've ever eaten. The prices are moderate. Gladly again!

Very tasty lunch menu, today pumpkin cream soup, meat patties and chocolate mousse for dessert for €13.50 Super tasty and reasonable portion, gladly again :-) highly recommended! And nice and attentive service :-)

The food was good atmosfere too

Super nice and competent service and the lunch was delicious and at a fair price. And special praise to the kitchen for the truly sensational pumpkin soup. We felt completely at home, thank you very much and see you soon.

We've eaten here several times, the roast pork is always ok, the duck is rather dry and has limp skin, but still ok. Today, however, the food was really bad. I had the Viennese veal schnitzel with fried potatoes for around €26...the schnitzel was dripping with fat, but the fried potatoes were even more so, and they were absolutely soggy and kept warm in the pan for ages. It had nothing to do with crispy fried potatoes. Every apprentice chef can do this better. And the cranberries were cheap. But the Kaiserschmarren was almost an impertinence. It came to the table after exactly 6 minutes, so at best it was either kept warm or frozen. It was also dripping with fat and stuck to the plate, the applesauce and plum compote were the cheapest of the cheap...inedible! It's a shame, the staff is nice but the cook is just bad...

Simply always great, a visit to Munich is part of it.

Yesterday I was there again for a long time, I was so pleasantly surprised. The food was very good and our waiter was extremely attentive. I really liked the ambience (the beer mugs on the ceiling provide nice indirect lighting.

Great site. We go once every fall because the chestnut soup is amazing. The rest of the dishes, especially the meat, are very well prepared and the meat is tasty and of quality. The beers have more variety than other places.

The food was prepackaged. Both the soup and the Kaiserschmarn. It was just warmed up. The employees are very hard working.

The duck and beer were excellent. The porcini mushroom dumplings were brought to the table twice (!) not cooked. No reaction from the chef or GF.

The old innkeeper is a Bavarian restaurant as you would expect. The food is great, the beer is excellent and the decor is very cozy. The waitresses are particularly pleasant and worth mentioning - they are all very friendly and attentive. Really pleasant.

Been a few time was not bad but last time October berrfest time was there food was not very good sad to say

I find it crazy that in Bavarian taverns, which usually have nothing special in terms of cuisine, you pay an insane price for most dishes. This is also the case in the Altes Wirt in Moosach. In my opinion, it's crazy that a restaurant at the end of a subway line is sometimes more expensive than restaurants in the center or in busy areas. The restaurant has been around for a long time and apparently has a cult following, but there is still a lot of room for improvement in terms of culinary and price performance. The quality of the dishes was no more than okay, although I would almost say below average. The taste of the Kaiserschmarrn was okay, but for 15 euros the mini portion was too small and overall just grossly overpriced. Cheese spaetzle and starter nothing special. This quickly creates a bill for 50 euros. In my opinion not justified. Unfortunately, Munich is expensive and the cuisine is nothing special compared to other cities.

The restaurant fully meets the expectations of a Bavarian inn. Visually great, the service was nice. Unfortunately, it's not really great from a culinary point of view, but it's okay. But what was really sensational was the Kaiserschmarrn!!!

The restaurant was right opposite our hotel. Because of the NFL weekend, we decided to have dinner away from the hustle and bustle at the Alten Wirten. Reservations can be made quickly and easily online. Although it seems very quiet from the outside and you almost think that nothing is going on, the dining room was very full. Service was friendly and quick. Food came to the table very quickly, was hot and very tasty. The ambience is very rustic and classic but not in a negative sense but very positive to note. The menu has something to offer for all guests, whether meat eaters, veggies, vegans or children. You can also find what you're looking for as a sweet fox. So 5 stars. Great inn outside of the hustle and bustle.

The menu is really big and everyone should find something they like. The portions are also generous and there is a large selection of Hofbräu beers. We'll definitely be back soon 👌

Fake Bavaria: Bad and expensive food (heated roasts, thin sauce), trying to be beer-like decko ("beer mug blanket"), relatively uncomfortable chairs. The most serious thing is the disregard for the Bavarian tavern culture: a regular regular's table with which - without individual consent! - is also advertised online with pictures and videos, is regularly ignored by the new managing director, the table is not reserved, "just sit somewhere else". Apparently the essence of a regulars' table is not understood. For whatever reason, groups of tourists are carted in by the bus from the hotels. Not the point of it all...

Unfortunately, compared to the last visits, it was really a big disappointment. Portion very small, much too dry, as there was no sauce or anything similar with the noodles. In addition, the noodles were cooked so softly that it was more like porridge. It also didn't taste like anything because there was nothing with the noodles apart from the three decorative mushrooms. Ultimately, charging around 23 euros for the dish without meat is really bottomless and in no way justifiable.

We were looking forward to a nice evening, but were unfortunately disappointed. The vegan mushroom dish was bitter, and when we asked if that was the case, the service took forever to arrive. In the end she just said that the bitterness was due to the mushrooms - an unconvincing explanation. The other dishes weren't any better either: the pork knuckle came lukewarm and tough, while the fish wasn't yet cooked through. Overall, the food left a lot to be desired. In the end we didn't want to give a tip, to which the waitress reacted visibly annoyed and said goodbye to us with a rude "Thanks for nothing". This attitude was the negative highlight of an already disappointing evening. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this restaurant for either the food or the service.

Great beer garden, good selection of food. Yesterday pretzel schnitzel + salad + nougat dumplings = today again + Kaiserschmarrn (awesome)😉. At Christmas it will be the goose.

The Alte Wirt Moosach impressed us with its authentic and cozy atmosphere (including Unikum Masskrug Heaven), the very friendly service and the very good food at fair prices.

We had a really great time at the “magic dinner with Florian Otto” today, I can only recommend it…. The food was excellent, our service was very friendly and accommodating All in all we were very satisfied... Also very easy to reach by public transport

Very friendly management, got a table despite no reservation and, as expected, the food was very tasty. It's worth a visit, gladly again!!!

At first we were ignored by the waitress for 17 minutes. Only when we asked did we get the drinks/menu menu. We wanted to order a schnitzel from the children's menu for our daughter (13), but this was not possible. Instead they wanted to sell her a Viennese schnitzel for 26.95 euros. We ordered 2x pork pretzel schnitzel and once roast pork. The fried potatoes with the schnitzel were simply a disaster. An oily porridge made from floury potatoes. The head waiter then explained to us that the chef was aware of this and that they had tried to improve things with a little oil. Incredible story. Last but not least, when we asked, we were only given a waiver of the 1.50 euro surcharge for the “fried potatoes”. In my opinion, a dish like this should never have left the kitchen! If you know that the wrong potatoes were delivered, you can't offer fried potatoes, that would have been better. Too bad! The schnitzel and roast pork were okay. Unfortunately we cannot recommend this restaurant.

This was my second time at the Altes Wirt. Both times it tasted great. The atmosphere is nice and quaint. The prices are absolutely fair for Munich. People are happy to spend money on quality and good meat. I will come again ☺️

Super fast and friendly service

Simply a good pub, with an idea. Munich classics, good beer, fine Spritzz variants and always a good atmosphere. Landlord Toni shows his collection of historical Oktoberfest packages. The illuminated ceiling made of beer mugs is unique.

A waiter (Marco) who celebrates his job and whose professional attitude one can unfortunately only dream about these days. Really authentic, delicious Bavarian cuisine in the same location. The Alte Wirt in Moosach is the oldest inn in Munich and highly recommended!

If you like it traditional, this is the place for you! From the furnishings to the food, the beer garden in the back yard and the extensive selection of beer, you can find everything Bavaria is known for here! Very friendly service!

The food is really amazing, the service is great, always open to every request and the ambience is rustic and beautiful. Does it look up to the ceiling? You will then really see it.

Went to the old inn on Sunday at 6 p.m., yes everything is getting more expensive and so an evening in a restaurant is unfortunately no longer a given for us. We had the beef ribs (they were good and sufficient, the potatoes weren't very seasoned) and the veal schnitzel... My goodness, for just under 30 euros you can at least fry the schnitzel cleanly and not only boil the supposed fried potatoes but also fry them :-(, sorry but unfortunately today the price/performance ratio wasn't right when 62 euros are left for two dishes and two drinks then you just expect more than OK.

They have a lunch menu for around €14! Very German place for traditional food and beer. It is worth going down from Moosach to eat in this place and then continue with your trip, we have come on a trip and on all the journeys we have stopped safely. The sky of jugs in the central dining room stands out. It's bad if you come in a hurry on a very busy day, they go slow

Real German pub and restaurant. Wooden benches and large tables. Not quite Deutsche Dirnen in traditional costume as waitresses. Just delicious German dishes for a German (not expensive Dutch) price. Worth to visit and eat. Own parking space, so you don't have to search long for a place to park your car. Highly recommended!

We had a wonderful evening in this Bavarian restaurant! The atmosphere is exactly what you would expect from a traditional Bavarian restaurant – quaint, cozy and full of charm. The food was outstanding! The pretzel schnitzels are highly recommended and the portions are generous. The prices are very fair and offer excellent value for money. What is particularly noteworthy is how child-friendly the restaurant is. The staff was very attentive and friendly to you, which is unfortunately no longer a given. We will definitely be back and can recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to experience real Bavarian cuisine in a relaxed and family-friendly environment!
