Cool event location, friendly and very efficient team, and the snacks (wraps) were freshly prepared and incredibly delicious. I especially liked the two options with grilled vegetables and falafel, but there were also options with Serrano ham or chicken, and even a fifth variety. All were at least good. It was a fantastic party. I will definitely recommend you!

Great location, indoors and outdoors

A Mediterranean flair in Cologne's Südstadt district – rocking out in 30-degree heat with 140 people in the large hall. Dancing and celebrating were a hit. The Alteburg's service staff fulfilled all our wishes, and thanks to clear coordination with management, the organization ran smoothly. The venue was attractive and very clean.

A great location with multiple event spaces. Every time I've been here, the wait staff have done a fantastic job and the evening has been fantastic.

A small, charming beer garden with relaxed music. If you prefer something a little more rustic, this is the place for you. They serve not only Kölsch, but also other beers. Friendly service. We'll try the food next time.

The location? Dreamy. A summer evening, a relaxed crowd, cold drinks. The music? Groovy house, funk & a bit of soul – just the thing for the sunset. And the food? Next level! Really good street food at beer garden level! Especially cool: The combination of a chilled atmosphere, an attentive bar team, and this honest cuisine. You can tell that the work here is done with passion – both behind the grill and behind the DJ booth. 😉 Definitely not my last gig or visit to the Alteburg – and next time, souvlaki is already on the playlist! The alteburg is a top location if you are looking for a suitable room for a large family celebration or a birthday party. The operators are super friendly and provide very competent advice and, based on their experience, very forward-looking! The beer garden in combination with the hall means there is a solution for all eventualities when the weather is good. The price is more than fair! My unreserved recommendation! Alaaf! Had a really good time in the Alteburg again. Great atmosphere, good Cologne music, nice security and the outdoor area to cool down and eat. A dream.

Everything is full of jeckeeen, a jutting piece of Kölle. Above all, there's this huge, pretty bouncer up front who has arms made of tree trunks and a face that looks like it was made with a chisel made of cathedral stone. And then there was such a sweet Berliner🥰 My Gaffel Kölsch tasted twice as good... Bützche 😘

We had a wonderful Christmas party! The space was outstanding and provided the perfect ambience for a festive atmosphere. The food was excellent, as was the service - everything was very courteous and professional. Two event rooms with a lot of atmosphere and a friendly team in Cologne's Südstadt, where it's fun to party and dance. In summer there is open air in the beer garden, which you can also use in winter to warm yourself by the fire.

Simply a fantastic beer garden! The selection of beers is impressive and the Rhenish specialties are homemade and delicious. I had a schnitzel and the portion and taste were perfect. The beer garden is cozy, offers a great view of the countryside and is extremely child-friendly. A must for families looking for a good mood and an authentic Cologne atmosphere!! The service is great and not intrusive, the service staff make you feel really comfortable, I'm thrilled. Keep it up and see you in the summer!!

Very disappointing development! We have enjoyed going here for years, the location is still great and relaxed. Unfortunately the food turned out poorly. The schnitzel was absolutely great, now tastes dry and not half as good. The price went up several euros again and the side salad was eliminated. The rest of the meal developed the same way. We also noticed unfriendly service and strange encounters with the owner, as other reviews mention. Very, very unfortunate!

I celebrated my 30th there. Planned and well organized from start to finish. There was a board with my name on it to welcome my guests. There was always someone to contact. For catering, I can recommend the Odenkirchen butcher shop. They also have a lot to offer vegetarian options! It was a great celebration and I only received positive feedback! Nice atmosphere, mostly attentive staff but there is a lot of catching up to do when it comes to drinks. Aperol Spritz, sometimes absolutely watery and then with a lemon?? Various other drinks unfortunately similar...

Nice premises, but the operator wants a minimum turnover of €2,600 + another €500 on top for service and cleaning. It was also very inflexible when it came to seating. 70 people max. They said there was no room for 80 - I've seen a lot and that was just "off the mark" - sorry.

Was invited to a party here, so can't say anything about the food. The ambience and service were really top, very attentive. My kids were able to move freely throughout the entire area without being reprimanded by anyone. Really high praise.

Went there for the company party. Separate area for around 60 people with 6 tables and a few bar tables. Apparently you weren't allowed to move outside the boundary. It's a shame because it was full of sunshine. A little more space would have been nice. Otherwise it was nice there, food was ordered, so I can't say much about it there.

In the summer there is a nice beer garden where you can sit comfortably. Fair prices. The staff is friendly. Why then 1 star for service? Unfortunately, the boss doesn't know (!) how to deal with customers or what the word "friendliness" means. I politely asked the two waiters who were responsible for the outside area if we could add two more chairs to our beer bench. Both of them thought that was completely okay. When we were sitting down, the boss rushed up and shouted at us. He probably thought that we hadn't asked and had moved the chairs on our own. Even then the reaction would have been over it. But when I pointed this out to him and said that this tone of voice was not appropriate, he tried to push me back into my chair (I had stood up in the meantime, I should vacate the seat): “We're talking now. Now sit back down.” That’s just not possible. Maybe I had a bad day - but I would never treat other people like that. It doesn't matter whether I work in service or not.

Unfortunately not recommended. Food not great, children absolutely unwelcome. Only cash payment possible. Wonder why? This is so 90s. Sad.

We were there to watch the European Championships. Nice beer garden but unfortunately no good sound, which disturbed the atmosphere. Unfortunately you couldn't understand anything. Very good service, but unfortunately the food wasn't good. Soggy fries, schnitzel not good and why the mushrooms were served with goulash sauce and cinnamon remains the secret of the kitchen. Kölsch was very tasty. All in all, only 3 out of 5 points. It's a shame...

Very nice beer garden that invites you to linger. The service is friendly and the food is delicious. We would be here more often if we knew when the beer garden was open or when society was closed again. In our opinion, finger food is also missing. There are only main courses between 10-20€

Erst mal vorweg: das Ambiente ist wirklich schön und lässt einen Arbeitstag wunderbar ausklingen. Der Service war freundlich und sehr aufmerksam. Das Essen (Chamapignonschmortopf mit Kartoffelstampf war ok, allerdings hätte ich mir definitiv frische Pilze gewünscht und keine Dosen Champignons. Als wir zahlen wollten, gab es keine Rechnung (ans Finanzamt) , sondern nur den „Deckel“, dann hieß es : nur Barzahlung. Das hatten wir vorher nirgendwo gelesen, weder beim reinkommen, noch befindet sich ein Hinweis auf der Speisekarte. Man wollte uns dann ernsthaft zu einer Stadtsparkasse in Bayenthal schicken. Unser Angebot, per PayPal zu zahlen, wurde ausgeschlagen. Fazit: schöne Lage und abends toll für ein Bier, das Essen war allerdings nicht berauschend und Barzahlung ohne Rechnung hinterlässt irgendwie einen faden Nachgeschmack.

On Weiberfastnacht we wanted to spend our day in the Alteburg. We were already in line at 10:00 am. After we had waited in line for 2 hours and still hadn't gotten in, the bouncer sent us away on the grounds that we were supposed to have stood up for it. After a long discussion, we agreed to leave because we no longer wanted to support this store.

Jeder Tag auf dem Irmgardis Gymnasium muss mit einem Besuch dieses Biergartens enden, sonst verendet man selber.

Waren hier auf einer Hochzeit. Die Location hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Besitzt Charme mit Platz draußen und drinnen. Es gibt nur eine handvoll Parkplätze, glücklicherweise haben wir einen bekommen und deswegen war es für uns praktisch und genial. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich, aufmerksam und zuvorkommend. Essen war tiptop, Getränke wurden schnell serviert.

Essen nicht mehr lecker, schade der Biergarten ist immer noch sehr schön.... Man sollte vielleicht wieder mehr die griechische Küche anbieten!!!!!

Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis schlecht. Wir hatten Falafel mit Salat (Falafel total trocken, Salat eher langweilig), Burger: da waren leider nur die Pommes super (Burger zäh, gepresstes Fleisch)... unser Eindruck: alles Fertigware. Schade, denn die Lage und das Ambiente ist top!

Tolle Location bei schönem Wetter. Genial für Feiern mit Family & Friends. Lauschiger Biergarten. Das Essen haben wir selbst besorgt, deswegen die fünf Sterne. Doch die Bierpreise sind wirklich in den letzten Jahren explodiert - absoluter Hammer! Einige aus der Crew sollten noch mal einen Kurs "wie öffne ich ein Kölsch-Fass" machen. Insgesamt ein schöner Abend, gerne wieder!

Biergarten with a a buzzing atmosphere. Located in the south of Cologne in a rather business-ish area. Well hidden gem with a nice little shady garden. Apparently you can also host events here (atleast my DJ friend told me) like birthdays or so. Service we’re doing their best but it was crowded so that’s okay. They don’t offer a big variety of dishes but the ones they do are decent. We had the salad with mushrooms and the souvlaki with skewers and fries. The salad had loads of mushrooms so a recommendation for shroom lovers. The skewers were great the fries okay. While we were there someone was hosting a birthday party or so. So we had some nice background music. A minus on service as they only accept cash. In total: I’d recommend coming here when you’re in the south of cologne.

Kölsch war lecker, Bedienung eher unfreundlich. „Normalerweise setzt man sich erst hin, wenn der Tisch abgeräumt ist“ oder „Das ist nicht gut, was Sie da machen“. Ich hatte das Geld inkl. Trinkgeld auf den Tisch gelegt. Ich werde mit der Alteburg nicht warm.

Wir waren das erste mal dort und waren positiv überrascht! Obwohl an diesem Abend zwei Veranstaltung mit sehr vielen Menschen stattfanden, wurden wir super schnell und sehr freundlich bedient. Auch das Essen und die Getränke wurden uns schnell gebracht. Wir hatten die vier falafelbällchen mit Joghurt dipp und einem großen Salat. Der einzige Wunsch wäre gewesen, das zu dem Salat ein Essig/Öl Dressing dabei gewesen wäre, anstatt Joghurt Dressing. Aber das ist meckern auf hohem Niveau. Sitzkissen auf den kalten Steinen wären auch nett gewesen. Wir würden nochmal wieder kommen!

Wir haben dort den Geburtstag unserer Tochter gefeiert. Der Service, der geboten wurde war hervorragend. Junge, motivierte Servicemitarbeiter, die freundlich und schnell waren. Ums Catering haben wir uns selbst gekümmert, was kein Problem war. Alles in allem ein gelungenes Fest. Gerne wieder!
