A very kind two stars... the tables are very small and the paint is peeling, and the chips stick to your clothes. The food was below average; the schnitzel lacked any seasoning and was cooked in old fat, and the potato salad was relatively okay. Criticism was kindly addressed and a drink was offered, which was very hospitable. However, I won't eat here again.

We went for brunch on September 14th, 2025. I wouldn't recommend it; there's so little room! 40€ per person was way too much, with far too little food/selection. We were told "what's empty is empty." There were about 12 pretzels for a lot of people. I wouldn't pay 10€ for something like that! Very friendly service! The location is beautifully decorated, very colorful, and cozy! There were fruit flies on the yogurt... 🤢 Lucky Leaf is much better, and there's only 2.5 times less!

We've tried the Palmengarten restaurant twice now. The service is so bad that I can't in good conscience recommend this restaurant to anyone. The food is actually quite good BUT: The first time, we persevered. They simply didn't serve us. We waited a very long time (over 20 minutes) before anyone even came to take our order. Unfortunately, it didn't get any better as the evening progressed. Even when we asked for ketchup with our fries, it simply took a very long time. Sometimes, when we asked the waiters, we got answers like, "Sorry, I'm not responsible for that. I'm just running the bar." In the end, we wanted to pay, but it simply wasn't possible for us for 45 minutes. We ended up just leaving the money on the table. If the restaurant had been full, we would have even understood all of this. But there weren't even many guests. The organization here is simply terrible. The second time we tried, we were at an event at the Stadthalle. Unfortunately, we had to give up and leave the restaurant without food or drink, as we weren't even able to place our order within an hour. Absolutely not a recommendation. I'm sorry to say that.

It enriches my Mülheim!! Without a doubt, a wonderful beer garden! The food is great! The service is simply abysmal! I stand in line for 15 minutes for an €8 glass of wine! For 15 minutes, I'm not with my girlfriend, date, or friends; one server is pouring, serving, and holding the bar. While the second server brings the glasses from point A to point B (two glasses each)! When I ask for a quick handout, I'm met with an annoyed look! And again, she brings 10 glasses from point A to point B. Sorry! Not cool, really, you should be much better at that! But it works for the boss! 😅 Three stars only because of the time wasted waiting to order! What a shame!

Nice place to grab a drink. Everything is self-service, which is quite annoying because you have to pay for your food and each drink immediately, so you don't get a total bill at the end. Whether that's always the case or just an exception this time, I can't say. Regarding the food, I can only comment on the kibbeling, which was incredibly delicious there years ago, which is why I ordered it again. What I got this time had absolutely nothing to do with kibbeling; instead, it was inferior and tasteless fish nuggets from the freezer. The tartar sauce was also disappointing, as it was far too acidic. The fries and salad were okay. It's a shame; as a regular visitor to Bagatelle before its current concept, you can only be disappointed with the food!

A very nice beer garden. It filled up pretty quickly. We ordered a few snacks. We actually wanted an appetizer and a main course, but the two pretzels with Obazda (traditional German sausage) and the bread with aioli were already quite filling, so we went straight to dessert. 😉 The only downside is that there's no waiter service, which means our evening together as a couple is constantly interrupted by orders at the bar. Unfortunately, the beer tap is the slowest I've ever seen, which inevitably leads to longer wait times.

The staff was sparse but very friendly. A side salad for just under €6 was just leaf lettuce from a bag, picked a long time ago, quite a challenge. I'd come back for a drink, but not necessarily a meal. Otherwise, the outside is quite cozy, but it could smell fresher inside...a bit musty.

We were invited to a 40th birthday party yesterday. The food was really, really bad. The currywurst was cold. The schnitzel tasted really bad. Gorgonzola has no place in it. The service was okay.

The seating right next to the park is very nice. The food is excellent. The simple cevacci were served with several sauces and salad. Having to order on a piece of paper takes some getting used to, but it's definitely better than using an app and similar nonsense. I'll definitely be back.

It's a nice place to sit outside and while away the time until you get into the town hall. But I wouldn't eat here again. It's very cheap, but the quality isn't that bad. Currywurst with fries is definitely good, though. The service concept isn't my thing. We had to place all our orders at two outside stalls and pay directly. You can take drinks to go, but that can take a long time when it's busy. The food is then delivered to your table. As I said, if you like it. It's not my thing.

The staff tried hard, but seemed annoyed because customers were asking for drinks. The beer garden manager responded to our criticism unprofessionally and seemed personally attacked. I've never experienced anything like that before. What a shame.

Two stars because the beer garden, with its lush greenery right next to the park, is very pretty to look at. Apparently, they couldn't understand why I was criticizing the fact that the beer was only slightly chilled and, by 9:30 p.m., there were no more bottles of the type I had already consumed. The draft beer was extremely warm, and the bottled beer also wasn't cooled in time. There was no attempt to understand me as a guest and somehow satisfy me, or to find a solution. Instead, they even recommended that I get my groceries from the kiosk around the corner outside the beer garden. I couldn't and still can't understand this understanding of hospitality, even with the best will in the world. Considering that guests have to do everything themselves—for example, writing their food order on a slip of paper and handing it in at another kiosk, ordering and picking up drinks from the kiosk themselves, and the staff, who seemed completely overwhelmed and even had to explain the drinks on offer to them—no positive outcome could be achieved, even with the best will in the world. It's a shame, especially given the manners of the "management staff" and the way they handled a guest's criticism. That was truly poor self-promotion, and if I were the manager, I would have to apologize to the guests afterward. This is not how you treat guests, who are the basis of the business. A real shame for this beer garden, which enjoys such an excellent location by a park and on such a beautiful summer evening. Another few guests lost. The beer garden is very quaint, surrounded by greenery. The currywurst with fries is delicious, as are the schnitzel with potato salad and the cheese dumplings with salad. A good selection of drinks. Friendly service. Wheelchair accessible, but the restroom is in the basement, accessible only via stairs. In nice weather, expect longer waits. But the wait is definitely worth it! ☀️😎

The Palmengarten is a beer garden located right next to the Cologne-Mülheim Stadthalle (City Hall). In bad weather, you can also sit comfortably inside and enjoy a meal. Fortunately, vegans and vegetarians have also been taken into account, and several suitable dishes are offered. The prices are absolutely reasonable. I opted for a delicious beetroot tartare. They also occasionally hold so-called living room concerts. Parking is available right around the corner, in the Stadthalle parking lot. Nice location.

One of my most visited restaurants in the summer. Has a few delicious vegetarian dishes, although unfortunately they are often sold out, such as the white sausage (vegetarian) so there was currywurst every time. That's okay, but it doesn't have to be every time. It's really nice to sit under the blooming wisteria with a view of the park. The service is nice but there is not the classic service. You go to the counter to order and the food is brought to your table.

In the summer when it opened, we found the beer garden's offerings even more appealing. The 4 stars are benevolent because there isn't much on offer in Mülheim. As is the case in many places these days, service is only very limited, which is certainly due to the general lack of staff in the catering industry. Both drinks and food have to be ordered at the huts and it sometimes takes a long time. We didn't think the food was adequate for the price, both in terms of taste and portion size. Very nice outdoor area in the green lung of Cologne-Mülheim. If you want to grab a bite to eat or just want to have a drink in a quiet beer garden atmosphere, this is the right place for you. Inside, the palm garden also invites you to linger. For your information: to order, you go to the wooden house and pick up your drinks for immediate payment. The food is handed over to the food booth on pieces of paper left on the tables and later served to the table.

We were there for the first time because we had heard so many positive things a year ago. Unfortunately we haven't heard anything about any concept changes. The food was absolutely boring, tasteless, the kibbeling was frozen fried fish, no beer batter, little fish, a lot of batter. In the Caesar salad, parmesan, croutons and dressing were used in a more homeopathic way. The chicken breast was totally dry and I don't think I saw any seasoning at all. The bacon was soggy and had cooled down in its own fat and was inedible. Everything looked as if it had been prepared by untrained temporary workers using the cheapest convenience products. The prices were too high for that. First and last visit.

Went to the palm garden today. The whole meal was a disaster. There were convenience products such as kibbeling with fries at exorbitant prices. The kibbeling was in the deep fryer for too long, with hardly any fish in it. All in all a disaster. In the hallway to the toilet there was a terrible smell of old fish. It cannot be compared to before and I do not recommend ordering food there. The waiters tried to make up for it. But all in all it doesn't go beyond one star.

Finally a restaurant in Mülheim with flair

Visiting this beer garden was quite a disappointment. At first we had to wait forever to even be served, and when it was finally our turn the staff seemed pretty random. It almost seemed like they would rather be somewhere else and weren't interested in making money. The food was also a bitter disappointment. It seemed like everything came straight from the freezer or can. I honestly can't recommend a single dish. For the money we spent we really could have saved ourselves the visit.

An unexpected idyll on Wiener Platz. With the friendly staff, great food and fair prices you will be transported to another world. If you don't want to treat yourself to something really good after a good meal, order the Kaiserschmarrn. A poem for dessert, it couldn't be better. Cheers!

Great location in the park. The living room concert for children by Pelemele was well organized. Slightly smaller portions for kids so that you don't have to throw away so much would be great. The fries portion was really huge.

My absolute favorite shop in Mülheim. I've been here many times and even after the reopening in April with the new menu and the new concept. Unfortunately, I have to say that some of the charm has been lost due to the elimination of the bagatelle menu and the smaller drinks menu. We also waited an incredibly long time for food and drinks that afternoon, obviously it's a new opening and it's stressful, but you shouldn't have to wait an hour for a salad and not even be able to drink something during that time because the counter staff can't find the wine. I hope my next visit will give me more positive vibes again.
