(Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.) _____________________________________ In the garden restaurant “Dank Augusta”, operation and service unfortunately seem to be foreign concepts. In such an attractive environment I would not have expected such lack of style and unfriendliness towards the guest. You can either request something via QR code, which is complicated and also requires that you are already a member of "Facebook" - or you have to wait in different checkout lines. Two older women sitting next to me were so disappointed by these options that they got up again to go to a café in downtown Cologne, which I could understand only too well. I just wanted to have something to drink in the heat. To my horror, at the checkout where I queued, an organic tea and a bottle of mineral water were packed into a small plastic bag. It couldn't be more stylish. When I complained, I was promptly told that this was the system that would be very well received. I didn't even receive my tea in a pot or at least a cup, but in an indefinable reusable container. On the table where I sat there was also a plastic bag with glass bottles from my predecessors. In addition, the withered flowers should have been disposed of long ago. The staff I spoke to were consistently unfriendly and reserved. Nobody seemed to feel responsible for wiping the tables or even clearing anything away. Just because of the very appealing ambience and the view, STILL two stars... PS: By the way, cake is only offered in a glass. 😧

I love the relaxed atmosphere on the terrace surrounded by greenery. Here you have exactly the mix you want: delicious food, fair price, sustainable concept and everything beautifully furnished. What I particularly like: the price-performance ratio is right. You get really tasty, home-made food in good portions. No overpriced hipster food, just delicious dishes that fill you up. And the choice is large: various salads, hot and cold dishes and lots of delicious cakes. The concept is as simple as it is well thought out: the food - including the cakes - is available in reusable glasses, the porcelain cups come with lids (finally the coffee stays hot for longer!) and even the practical picnic bags that you can get at the kiosk are sustainable. Totally charming and cleverly made. Ordering is also possible digitally using a QR code at the table. You simply scan, select and pay easily with PayPal. No waiting, no queuing. In this place you can have a good time - in a large group or just alone for a coffee with a chocolate-caramel cake. I'll treat myself to that more often this summer.

A nice restaurant with delicious food and friendly service staff. Unfortunately, one of the service staff couldn't tell me what yogurt ice cream tastes like.

A really nice restaurant in the middle of the botanical garden. It is easily accessible by public transport and the zoo is in the immediate vicinity. The team on site really puts in a lot of effort and is super friendly. It is even open on public holidays and despite the heat on May 1st the staff was quick, friendly and helpful. Great! I can highly recommend the apple pie, it tastes “like grandma made”. There is only seating outside, which is made clear by the name “Garden Bar”. When it rains (and heat) you can easily find shelter under the large umbrellas, which are opened by the staff. The concept of “picnic baskets” is unusual and refreshing. A return visit is already planned. <3

A very interesting concept! There are many savory warm and cold as well as sweet snacks in glasses, e.g. salads, currywurst, American cheesecake etc. There is also an extensive range of drinks. You get your order packed in a bag and can take it with you to the table. From the terrace you have a wonderful view of the park. The park and the restaurant are close to the zoo and a real tip if - like us - you don't find the zoo's restaurants appealing at all.

Cool self-service concept! The baskets are a very good idea! Maybe we'll work on the pricing policy a little more, then we'll come back more often and then we'll get 5 stars

We were there again today! ☺️ Simply wonderful! Self-service, but you don't have to wait too long in line and the young lady behind the counter today was very friendly, courteous and quick. My daughter loves the American cheesecake and the 🍋 ice cream. The potato salad was also very delicate. The baskets are a great solution for transporting drinks and delicacies. 2 nice girls made sure that all the tables stayed clean and tidy. Great concept! 🤩

A nice garden restaurant with an intelligent self-service concept. And the little things packed in the glass taste excellent. We made a stop here after the camellia exhibition and before the further tour of the Flora grounds. Recommended!

A great beer garden, away from the busy city. Loads of outside seating and self serviced. Very nice setting to enjoy a beer in the sun. We didn't eat here, but the food looked very good as well.

We were there last weekend, and it was already very crowded. It was the first beautiful spring day of the year, and the whole of Cologne and the surrounding area seemed to be there. With such a great view, that's more than understandable. The lines at the counter looked worse than they were. The staff were young, friendly, and generally quick. We had to wait about 10 minutes, which we thought was fine. In the meantime, my wife easily found a seat with a wonderful view. We had a pasta salad in a glass (it seemed rather small at first, but turned out to be a good portion), which was very tasty and fresh, and a goulash with a lot of meat. We also had a cappuccino and cheesecake in a glass (unusual but absolutely delicious). We were completely satisfied; a beautiful spot.

We visited Dank Augusta on a sunny Sunday, absolutely fantastic! One of the most beautiful places in Cologne, one of the most beautiful self-service concepts – and it was delicious too (at least everything we tried 😉). Thank you for your hospitality, see you very soon!

The botanical garden/flora is beautiful especially towards spring! When the weather was nice, we sat down in the garden restaurant to enjoy the sun. It's really nicely made, but really outrageous prices as far as aperitivos like Aperol Spritz go. Self-service or walking to the stand is completely fine, but then asking for an Aperol for €9.80, which you don't even prepare yourself, but comes already mixed in a bottle. The Aperol is made with white wine instead of Prosecco and without ice cubes. Paying almost €10 for that is really steep. Too bad...

A very beautiful place (like Flora and botanical gardens in general), food and drink were always very tasty. Staff friendly. Especially on weekends and when the weather is nice, it can sometimes be a bit crowded and then you occasionally realize that there are limits in the catering industry if you still want to offer good service. Overall, of course, a clear recommendation!

Super delicious goulash and super delicious cheesecake.😍 Ordering and paying via the app was easy and we were able to avoid queuing. Food and drinks were then quickly brought to the table. Everything's fine. 👌🏼 I like the concept of picnic bags and serving the dishes in screw-top jars. 😊

45 min waiting time for table service for drinks and food. Many foods and drinks are not available at all. Food in glasses was still hot but unfortunately the taste and quality were not very good. Nice idea, bad implementation. The ambience is convincing, but you sit at plastic tables and chairs, you could get a lot more out of it here. Employees are nice and try their best, but they can't help it because of the organization of the store. It was okay once, but won't be repeated.

Anyone who is here in the park should definitely stop by. The food and drinks can be purchased and consumed as a picnic. The view of the park also gives the whole thing a nice atmosphere.

A beautiful garden restaurant in the middle of the flora. As has often been described, the concept of self-service and the special presentation form give it a picnic feeling. There are all sorts of delicious things, I've already tried a lot of them, in the glass and there's also a very successful and wide selection of drinks. It leaves nothing to be desired and is still special. Both the salads and classics have a real kick and are excellent. The desserts and cakes are also worth trying. So to speak, a luxury picnic in a great ambience. I feel very comfortable here and have often enjoyed the good food and delicious drinks. Nice staff, beautiful furniture and well-kept gastronomy make it a really great experience here. Thanks! I'll definitely come back.

The restaurant is a great place to spend some time out, regardless of whether you want to protect yourself from the rain or are looking for shade. You order from a food truck and take your order with you in a small picnic bag - a very nice concept! We also found the cakes and tarts in jars original (and delicious!) as we had never heard of anything like that before.

I was there today for the first and not the last time. Great concept, friendly staff, small meals with a super nice concept. It's the place in the sun in Cologne! Forget the Rhine, the old town. Sunny Sunday -- thank Goddess -- not too crowded thanks to Augusta. More comfortable 2 table with metal chairs. I send Fetch my friend for food and drinks and look at the other guests. Very tasty Kraft 🍺 and the currywurst in a glass is very good/the potato salad Also, the view of the bot garden is unique. Whenever possible, I went there with my visit. All in all: definitely go Recommend and much cheaper than the zoo next door.

Great concept with the picnic in the Flora. A pity; that you can't really have a picnic in a meadow, but you can still have delicious food and delicious coffee!

I LOVE the food, the atmosphere and did I say it? - exactly, the food! We come here as often as we can in the summer and enjoy Sunday afternoons under the parasol with a picnic at Dank Augusta. One of the most beautiful and relaxed places in all of Cologne💓

I would give the whole thing 5 points because of the concept, quality etc. but if I have to pay €18.40 for 2 meatballs, a small salad in a glass and a juice spritzer, unfortunately I can't do that. I'm happy to pay and even go along with it if they say everything has become more expensive, but that's a rip-off and is disproportionate! Especially if you know what kind of company is behind the catering.

If you are around Cologne and want to chill under the sun with a beer or a coffee, this is your place. The staff is lovely, the views are amazing and they give you a basket with your food so you can go anywhere in the park to have a picnic. Amazing experience!

Fine cakes in a glass, good concept! Unfortunately, many guests don't clear their tables, and then it's a bit disgusting to eat your lovely picnic amidst crumbs, wind-blown wine glasses and licked spoons. Someone from the staff could definitely check things out, which didn't happen in 1.5 hours.

Way too long of a wait… There doesn't seem to be any organization here. If it takes 5 minutes for each guest to put together a basket, then with 6 people in front of you, after more than 20 minutes, you're still a long way off... Wouldn't recommend anyone to queue there, a complete waste of time!

The idea of ​​the picnic is brilliant. The food tasted incredibly good and we had a very nice time with the children. Only the rain bothered me. But the cake, soup and salad in a jar was so delicious, visually appealing and inspiring. We will be back.

I find it very cozy here, the ChaiLatte was very tasty, even if it was only a thimble full and was empty after two sips due to the small cup with a lid. It's a shame because it was really great. Butter pretzel is also great and the service is extremely friendly. Self-service

I've been visiting Flora and Thanks to Augusta Gartenlokal regularly for several years, I love it!! The garden restaurant offers very tasty selections, very nice staff, I always enjoy going there and can only recommend it!

We are regular guests and would love to come back next year. A stroll through the garden followed by moments of enjoyment in the café is always great.

There used to be a nice café here where you could also sit inside. And there was just coffee and cake. But now this food in a glass is not my thing at all and the store can't do anything for the, of course, beautiful environment. Overall, they could have done something better than something with a catering atmosphere. Tried it once and that was enough.

Tolles Ambiente selbst im goldenen Herbst ist es herrlich im Freien zu sitzen, Kaffee ist sensationell lecker, es gibt vegane Versionen! Das Essen ist höher preisig, aber lecker und wird besonders serviert (alles im Glas)

Der Espresso draußen am Stand ist einfach nur grotten schlecht! Die Mängel war geringer als ein einfacher Espresso. Kein Crema!!!! Einfach nur schlecht! Drinne am Siebträger war der Espresso gut.

Freundliche Mitarbeitende Die Speisen sind sehr schön angerichtet Die Verpackung ist originell Es liegen sogar Decken und Hüte bereit, damit sich die Gäste wohlfühlen Alles macht einen (hoch)-wertigen Eindruck und passt zu meinen Erwartungen und den Preisen. Danke für die inzwischen zahlreichen schönen Momente.

Selbstbedienung mit viel Wartezeit, Cappuccino schmeckt ausschließlich nach warmer Milch, Atmosphäre wie am Bahnhof am Wochenende, man lebt offenbar von der Lage innerhalb der Flora

Tolle Idee. Die angebotenen Speisen haben eine sute bis sehr gute Qualität. Die Lage ist einfach perfekt. Der Service an der Theke ist nett und gibt auch passende Ratschläge. Einzig klappt es nicht mit dem Abräumen - sollen es jetzt die Gäste durchführen oder der gute Mann weclcher durch die Reihen schlendert..hmm. Wir haben selbstständig abgeräumt - ist Ok.

Es gibt wohl kaum einen ruhigeren Ort, als die Flora im Herzen von Köln. Entspannung pur. Dazu trägt auch das SB-Cafe „Pick dir was raus“ bei. Eine geniale Idee, leckere Gerichte in Gläsern zu verpacken, welche dann - in einer praktischen Henkeltasche - zum selbst gesuchten Platz gebracht werden kann. Die Preise sind moderat, die Bedienung am Stand sehr freundlich. Ein Genuss pur, hier in dieser grünen Umgebung mit teilweise schlossgartigem Charakter.

Lecker Essen! Ruhig,am Flussufer, obwohl Hauptstraße nahe. Angestellte super; allerdings scheint eine jüngere Dame stets unfassbar schlecht gelaunt zu sein..

Man sitzt wunderschön auf der Terrasse. Ansonsten herrscht Selbstbedienung oder Bestellung per App. Man bekommt die Getränke/Speisen in einer handlichen Tasche und in Gläsern, damit man alles sicher zum Platz bekommt. Sehr gute Idee, die auch funktioniert. Der Kuchen im Glas ist lecker, aber eher ein Nachtisch als ein Kuchen. Bei den hohen Temperaturen gibt's leider nur einen kalten Kaffee, der mit "geheimen Zutaten " verfeinert ist. Bis man herausbekommt, dass das Zimt und Kardamom etc sind, dauert es eine Weile. Diese sehr intensiven Gewürze sind nun nicht Jedermanns Sache. Ein normaler kalter überraschungsloser Kaffee wäre bei ü30' schon sehr schön Bei den Getränken gibt's die Weinschorle als Rose mit orangenlimo.... meiner Meinung nach wäre auch hier der Klassiker mit Wasser besser ... aber vielleicht nur mein Geschmack. Trotzdem zieh ich beim Essen Sterne dafür ab. Es darf auch mal gewöhnlich und gut sein.

Ich bin total überrascht sowie überzeugt von diesem Konzept. Das Essen war super lecker! Ich hatte den Couscoussalat und wollte gar nicht aufhören zu Essen…so lecker war er. Das Konzept mit dem Korb und dem Essen in Gläsern ist grandios. Wenn ich das nächste mal in Köln bin, komme ich wieder! Versprochen ❤️

Brilliant concept, well executed. A small lunch wagon with only a couple or so people, serving 50+ covers quickly because everything is pre-prepared and served in glass jars. Food nicely done, majority vegetarian or vegan but some choice for meat eaters too. Warning: puddings are large: consider sharing!

Wunderbare Lokation in schöner Umgebung der Kölner Flora. Hier kann man Essen als Picknick holen oder über die App bestellen, dann wird es an den Tisch gebracht. Leckeres Im Glas (super Kartoffelsalat oder gut eingelegter Ziegenkäse), leckeres Eis oder Getreidekaffee mit Milchalternative, hier ist für jeden etwas dabei. Schöner Blick ins Grüne von der Terrasse, alle Sitzplätze sind draußen. Geöffnet ist Mittwoch bis Sonntag ab 11:30

Es ist super schön zu sitzen! Wir hatten einen Kuchen, einen Salat und den kalten Kaffee und waren leider von allem geschmacklich sehr enttäuscht.

Das Essen wird im Glas serviert, war aber sehr lecker. Auch das Eis ist definitiv eine Empfehlung. Das Personal ist ziemlich jung und sehr freundlich. Es gibt keine klassische Tischbedienung, bestellt wird an der Theke. Die Bestellung wird dann in kleinen Körben verpackt, was einem das Feeling von einem Picknick vermittelt. In Kombination mit dem Ausblick auf den wunderschönen Park, eine interessante Idee. Es wird auch vegetarisches bzw. veganes Essen angeboten.

Sehr schön ruhig und gepflegt. Sehr leckere Kuchen und das hier praktizierte System sollte Trittbrettfahrer finden. Sehr ökologisch und Ressourcen schonend Alle Mitarbeiter sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit!!! 5 Sterne sind zu wenig!!! Der Ausguck von der Terrasse ist sehr schön auf diegepflegte Gartenanlage.

An outside café with healthy lunch options and various soft drinks. The vegetarian and vegan food is clearly labelled, which is very helpful. All the food is served in sealed glass jars, which are then washed and reused. Great for the environment!

Der Eiskaffee bestand aus einem schwachen kalten Kaffee und 3 Eiswürfeln. Und das für 4€.

Kleines Gartenlokal im Botanischen Garten in Köln

Wunderschönes Café in der Flora, mit phantastischen Blick auf den Springbrunnen. Es ist nicht ganz billig, doch die Qualität ist super! Ich habe einen Kartoffelsalat und meine Freundin Kuskussalat, beide sehr lecker 😋. Später haben wir uns einen Cappuccino (gute Qualität) und eine Eissplittertorte (sehr lecker) gegönnt. Kann ich empfehlen!

This is an innovative cafe in the heart of the botanical garden in Cologne. The food comes in re cycled glass jars, put in a plastic container bag with a bottle opener attached . When you finish the empty bottles go back in the bag to be re used. Really nice fresh food and cheap.We had salads. Plenty of spaces to sit and view the gardens from the terrace .

Wunderschönes Plätzchen zum spazieren, verweilen und entspannen. Die Preise für das Café sind exht Inordnung. Auch der Cheesecake im Glas ist zu empfehlen. Sehr sauber, freundlich und man musste nicht lange warten um was zu bestellen.

Die Lokalität ist auf einer Terrasse mit einem schönen Blick auf den Park. Leider gibt es keine wirkliche Bedienung, so dass man sich selbst anstellen muss. Es gibt eine App und eine Webseite zum Bestellen, allerdings findet man dort nicht alle Getränke wie auf der Speisekarte. Punktabzug!

The nice terrace, but dirty dishes spoiled the whole experience. It's not very pleasant to enjoy a drink with someone's red lipstick.
