ALEX Düsseldorf in Düsseldorf

The Alex in Düsseldorf is like all other restaurants in this chain: you shouldn't expect food like in great restaurants, but everything is still tasty and good. The two of us were there for brunch on Sunday. Unfortunately, the service wasn't very attentive when it came to clearing the table and taking orders. We put glasses and cutlery on the edge of the table several times and they only took it away after a long time and walking past several times. The waiters didn't even ask if we wanted something more to drink, and all of this in an uncrowded place. The selection of dishes at the buffet was really great, only the desserts were all “tetra pack pudding” and not that good. But value for money is absolutely right! Absolute no-go: we took the couscous salad and both said straight away that it smelled strange and was no longer good. We tried both and it was so bad we spit it into the napkins. We told the waitress this and she said she would pass it on. The salad then sat there for a full two hours until the buffet was dismantled. When we asked the waitress about it again while paying, she said that in the kitchen they simply said the salad was just like that, it wasn't tasty and they knew that. We were at a loss for words.

Paid €20 for four drinks even though the bill was only supposed to be €15 - my mistake for realizing it too late. But if you're going to pay too much, at least you expect what you ordered. Instead of sparkling water there was still water and in some bottles that smelled unpleasant. 5 € more isn't the end of the world, but for the price the order should at least be right. Disappointing!

The breakfast buffet was average. However, really too expensive for this small selection. There was no fruit, hardly any vegetables, no salmon, not even cocoa. (It was probably over at 9:30 a.m.). The egg and bacon were cold. The staff was friendly. All in all you can eat there. But you definitely don't have to. A bit disappointing.

The buffet was very rich and there was everything you could want for breakfast, salmon, scrambled eggs, fried eggs and also the rolls, everything was okay. We'll definitely come back

We went to the breakfast buffet during the week with our dog. Very tasty and rich breakfast, all dishes offered were really available until the end of the buffet. Staff is very nice, open and helpful. The Alex is located between main streets and therefore the view is of the street, but the interior itself is beautifully and comfortably designed, a real feel-good atmosphere. Parking spaces are rare in Düsseldorf, but there are plenty of parking options here. We chose the one directly in the Alex building and were very satisfied. We would be happy to come back with a dog.

The selection of dishes is a great mix of creative dishes and tried-and-tested classics, prepared with fresh ingredients and great attention to detail. Whether vegetarian, vegan or with meat – everyone will find something to their taste here. Particularly noteworthy is the large selection of spritzers and juices, great! The service is attentive, friendly and authentic.  Price-performance ratio is also right, as the quality of the food and drinks is consistently high. Conclusion: If you are looking for a modern, cozy restaurant with excellent cuisine, you should not miss Alex. Absolute recommendation!

Nice indoor and outdoor space, quite spacious, bright and welcoming. The service is attentive and very friendly. The breakfast buffet is a typical ALEX breakfast (not meant negatively) and leaves little to be desired. Price-performance ratio absolutely fine. Especially because of the great, central location.

The ambience is modern with warm colors. The service was very attentive despite the full location. The wrap + the crispy fries were very tasty 😋 and were beautifully presented. It's best to reserve for the evening on weekends.

A very nice location in a good location. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety and quality of the food - the sauerbraten at brunch was really delicious. The atmosphere is very modern and stylish - it was just a bit noisy because the restaurant was completely full. The service staff here is attentive and courteous. Recommendation from my side and I would be happy to come back!

A characterless shop like Café del Sol or something similar. Food, as usual for such shops, was poor to passable. In one salad there was a hard part of a plastic bag from which the salad came. That's why I didn't perform because it was exactly the level I expected. However, the service apologized with the obviously indifferent word "sorry" and looked at me as if I wanted to order something else. Otherwise the service is really friendly. Since the shop is within walking distance from me, I will probably have a cocktail here once or twice.

Wonderful place. Husband and i enjoyed the wide menu selection.. Food tastes really great and complemented with good ambience.. Service was good and fast. Recommending the hummus and falafel in starters. It was really delicious and a must try dish for me.

Tables are very small. The staff are nice and try to fulfill all wishes...pleasant atmosphere. Kudos to the chef. A little more dressing on the salad would be nice. And the toilets need to be maintained better. Not pleasant to use. Otherwise it is recommended

Rather disappointed compared to other “Alex” restaurants. Portion of the bowl was very small, almost only decoration in the plate and very small portions of everything, a shame. Not full.

Whenever im in town i always go to Alex, the food is just delicious and the portions are good for the price. The personal is very friendly and the service is fast. I recommend the rib-eye steak with veggies and a portion of fries. The location is easily accessible and they have seats for children as well. If u want a good meal/dinner with the service of a high end restaurant but with good prices, this is the place to go.

As Lloriot asked: "Mr. Waiter, can we bring YOU something?" Here the waiters were more busy taking a break and chatting. The food was okay, but nothing special. There were leftovers from other drinks in my coffee, so I went back. Hence the conclusion: Once and never again - there are much better places in Düsseldorf...

Actually a nice shop. Unfortunately totally overcrowded on a Monday evening. A volume and an atmosphere like in a train station lobby. Tables close together. The food was good, but if I don't have the staff, I can't fill all the tables. Food took about 40 minutes. Too bad.

We had brunch on Boxing Day. As always, it was very good. Only the dessert was minimalist, not enough for Christmas. Service was very friendly and quick.

Probably the most mid of breakfast buffets. The food is not good, the chicken nuggets were even bad. No milk alternatives for coffee or buffet. Coffee was terrible. Service was ok, but he seemed agitated anytime we asked for service. In total I paid $77 for something that should have been far less.I should have done more thorough research on the reviews. If you want good breakfast, this is not the place.

Last month, my wife and I had the opportunity to taste coffee and chocolate cake here. We had a very enjoyable time. The atmosphere of the place is pleasant, the service is good. I recommend.

Great venue! The open buffet breakfast and desserts were also very nice. The environment is decent, close to the center.

We were at ALEX in Düsseldorf as a class at 10 a.m. and were served by a slim, bald waiter. The service was a disappointment: when clearing up, the waiter put his tablet on the table and asked us to put our dirty plates on it ourselves. Given the prices, it should go without saying that the staff will take care of this. I come from the catering industry myself and know how it should actually work - especially in this price range. When paying, the rude comment was made: “At least one” when a student gave a tip. Such behavior is not acceptable at all. That was my first and definitely last visit.

Had our Christmas party there and I really enjoyed it. Very friendly staff. For wheelchair users it becomes very, very tight in front of the buffet due to tables set up on the way to the toilet.

Anyone who knows the Alex chain will not be disappointed. Upscale fast food.

Great and affordable breakfast. We are quite lucky to get a table on a Saturday morning. Lots of choices, including nicely cooked fried eggs. It can get a little busy, which makes moving around a little challenging at some point. We also ordered Sekt to pair with the orange juice.

The weekly changing small three-course lunch offers for the small. Wallets are really recommended. Plus a pleasant atmosphere with friendly service staff. A recommendation.

You can have brunch there every day until 12 p.m. There were two of us and we paid around €45. We missed seafood, otherwise there was plenty to eat. Scrambled eggs, scrambled eggs with leeks, fried eggs, cheese, Camembert and much more

We had made a reservation for 6 people, but upon arrival no one knew anything and we were put together in a small corner where we didn't really have much room. Too bad this happened. It will be difficult for people who cannot speak German to order because they do not understand English well either. Please note, they are friendly. There was nothing to complain about the food and drinks, everything was fine.

Food came quickly, aioli unfortunately too salty, service was very good, the tables are very small, the food barely fits on them, the toilet situation was underground (smelled of feces, was dirty and rocky), there is something that could be improved. Overall good, we would eat there again.

I refer to the Sunday brunch with my impressions from Düsseldorf. We were 5 people in total. Youngest 22, oldest 84 years old. I had invited. What did we get for around 165 euros from 12:30 p.m.: empty containers and almost cold food. Honestly, I feel ripped off for a brunch costing just under 22 euros per person excluding coffee and tea. Never again!

Yesterday we were at Alex in Düsseldorf for the first time. Location and ambience great. Service great. Unfortunately for me the currywurst wasn't a bratwurst but rather a fried boiled sausage (that's how it's often done in northern Germany), fries were great. My wife's pasta dish was very lovingly prepared and delicious. Cocktails were also delicious. Price/performance fits.

It's a little fair right now. Quite nice! It's a good way to pass the time. 😉👍

Hello breakfast friends, The conditions at the morning breakfast buffet had been a cause for complaint for me for a long time. The freshness and quality of the goods on offer does not do justice to the amount of the bill. When I had to watch this morning as the chef replaced the almost empty sausage plate with a fuller one and repackaged the rest (sausage/salad) with his bare hands, i.e. using neither gloves nor a spatula, I left the restaurant. What else can you say about that...

A great location in a good location. I was very surprised by the dishes that were offered here. The currywurst was really gigantic and very beautifully prepared. The ambience is very classy though I must say. If there are several people here, it will probably seem relatively loud. The service staff here is very nice and accommodating. You are served quickly and the waitress always has a smile.

This place has the biggest menu ever!! We trusted this place with satisfying two Aussies craving for schnitzels and it did not disappoint!! Great service and very filling meal.

Diverse and delicious brunch selection, fast service and beautiful location.

We went to the breakfast buffet with Mydays voucher, which actually turned out to be brunch because it was Sunday. The first point of criticism arises from the processing with the voucher; apparently not everyone knows about this. As requested by Mydays, we brought the booking confirmation and the voucher with us. This wasn't enough for one employee and we looked for more messages in the emails from the past few days. The mood sank to a low point and only changed when another service worker explained to us that we had everything we needed with us. Then we went to the buffet and there was enough choice, everything you would expect for breakfast. We weren't interested in the hot food shortly after 9 a.m. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. There is a point deduction for the ambience because the two tables are simply too small, especially at breakfast. So that everything doesn't lie on top of each other, you sometimes need several plates as well as a coffee cup and juice glass, so you don't know where to put it all. The oversized menu in the already limited space is particularly annoying at buffet time; it could perhaps only be distributed later. Finally, a tip about the vouchers. The KD has a list of the booked names and simply checks them off and gives out the ticket. Because the day and time have to be booked with Alex, it could work exactly like that and the guest just brings the voucher with them.

....it used to be 5 stars, but... Sunday brunch now 22.40€, large coffee 5.60 (you get 2 for that elsewhere and I'm talking about good coffee). The buffet has been significantly slimmed down! No more light breads, no more mustard sauce, reduced selection of sausages. No Nutella, just cheap nut nougat cream! That's not possible at this price! Very friendly service staff! Conclusion; Price/performance ratio no longer fits!

A perfect place near the center of Düsseldorf where you can enjoy different options, both typical local dishes and other pizza and pasta options. It had quite a few vegetarian and vegan options and smoothies that were like kombucha that were amazing and surprisingly good. The price is Dusseldorf price, a bit expensive, but the quantity of the dishes was enormous so it was worth it. The interior of the place is cozy but it is also very nice outside and there are views of a beautiful park. I totally recommend it 👌

We were here for the first time for my granddaughter's birthday. My Chicken Tiki Masala was cold and the portion was very small. My daughter's Schnitzel Milanese was average, the food was all lukewarm. My brother got his meal 1/2 hour before my daughter, which apparently was forgotten. Puree with fish fingers remained half standing. Visually, not even a cocktail tomato to spice it up. Loveless. I wanted to eat the spinach that came with it, but it was so disgusting that a small tip of a fork was too much and spoiled my appetite. Everything lacked pizzazz. The atmosphere was very, very, very loud, right behind us were 30 or more Indian/Pakistani young people who were so lively that we could no longer understand our own words and were happy when we could leave. We skipped dessert even though we were still hungry. Conclusion: no more than average, but too expensive. It's better to go to the Afghan in the Bilker Arkaden, where the food is authentic and delicious, the portions are decent, you'll be full, and there's no deafening background noise, even with 30 other guests. The restaurant wasn't so full that the guests couldn't be accommodated. It's a shame, the location is otherwise very easy to reach and the interior is nice, but the semicircular tables are a bit impractical to put together. There was no reaction to the fact that it was the little one's birthday. Not even a congratulation, even though she opened the presents for everyone to see. For 200 € we would at least have had enough at the Italian restaurant and children are king there anyway.

Food was ok, not great, but ok. There were a lot of large groups there, maybe that's why things didn't go smoothly. Apparently things go better overall when there aren't a lot of large groups there. I'm excited to see what it will be like on my next visit. Update will follow.

Locations very nice not so crowded staff is nice. The food came quickly but there was no complaining and a very small portion as for a child.

Great restaurant, beautifully decorated, very friendly staff! The only thing we didn't like this morning was the pancake and the fruit salad. The rest was great! The croissants were delicious!! I'd love to come back to try dinner or a drink🥰
