We were warmly welcomed in the evening without a reservation and offered a table on the terrace. Service very friendly and accommodating. We ordered saltimbocca. Very fine, great taste. A light wine sauce, broccoli refined with herbs, onions and parmesan. Delicious rosemary potatoes. The dish was a delight. It's a shame that Norderney isn't just around the corner.

Chic restaurant with attentive staff and delicious food

Eating is like that. Service a bit sour. Friends ordered another bottle of wine, it was restricted because they said the table would be given away in 10 minutes. We were with 12 people. It would have been nice to say something beforehand.

We had linguini with porcini mushrooms and beef fillet. Overall, the food tasted quite bland and the pasta was far from al dente, possibly pre-cooked or simply in the water for too long. The beef fillet strips as a topping were really good. In contrast, the beef mixed into the noodles was terribly tough and reminded me of my first failed attempt in my life to make a roast beef. Maybe a bad day in the kitchen, but unfortunately it wasn't even close to worth what was shown on the bill. The remaining leftovers on both plates also seemed to be the reason for the service side not to ask how we liked it and the plates were then cleared away with the words “I’ll take that with me.” The tip wasn't given, still no indication of a query, what a shame!

At first we had a good impression of the restaurant, which later turned completely negative. When we pointed out to the waitress that something was wrong, the lady became unfriendly, really rude and tried to twist the words in my wife's mouth, which is not possible at all. whereupon we stopped eating. Going to the restaurant, it is located in a pedestrian zone where every centimeter is used, so it is very narrow, what we ate was ok, plates were quite clear, price/performance was borderline, service was a disaster, therefore not recommended.

You don't get what you ordered. Rip-offs

Since the ambience was appealing, we chose this location for lunch. The service was quick and the drinks were ordered quickly. Ordering the food was also quick. While we were waiting, we were allowed to overhear a loud, disturbing conversation. The manager of the store, at the next table, was probably philosophizing loudly with another person about whether or not to buy more houses. He can do it, no problem if he buys a hundred houses. But this nonsense is annoying! I'm on vacation and want to have some peace and quiet. And now? The food was served. Since I was raised decently, I didn't throw this back in the kitchen. Veal schnitzel with 3 mm breading on the bottom, 4 mm meat and 3 mm breading on top. Deliciously prepared in the deep fryer. Plus a potato mash, probably all the house recipes. In terms of quantity, it's more of an odeuvre than a meal. Never again!!!

Wir haben im Al Monumento mit 3 Personen zum Abendessen reserviert. Der Kellner war nett und aufmerksam. Die Karte klang lecker, auch wenn die Preise schon recht knackig für die Insel waren. Wir bestellten Carpaccio, Caprese als Vorspeise. DIe Caprese war lieblos und völlig geschmacklos. Der sehr kleine Teller war mit Tomaten, Mozzarella und einem Blatt Basilikum, thats it!. Die Tomaten billig und der Mozzarella keine Rede Wert, dafür über 14 Euro zu zahlen war schon fast unverschämt! Das Rindercarpaccio war ok aber die Portion auf einem kleinen Frühstücksteller auch für den Preis mehr als dürftig! Keine Pinienkerne, nur vollbeladen mit Rucola, ansonsten nichts! Nur Etwas Fleisch mit Öl... Als Hauptgang hatten wir Pilzrisotto: Portion sehr überschaubaur mit TK Waldpilzmischung. Die bestellte Pasta mit Steak schoß den Vogel ab. Ein Mini-Steak von "Was-auch-immer" Rind einfach nur aufgeschnitten auf einen kleinen Klecks Pasta gelegt. Keine Soße mit Geschmack, keine Liebe und eine Portion von der mach bei über 26 Euro nicht satt wurde. Bei unserem Besuch waren dann auch noch zwei Toiletten geschlossen! Einziger Pluspunkt ist die Lage. Wer lecker essen gehen möchte, geht besser in die bekannten Italienischen Restaurant der Insel oder lässt es sich woanders gut gehen!

A little windy outside... but the heaters were appreciated 😁 Food was excellent! Fast and perfect service rounded off the very positive impression!

Unfortunately the quality has deteriorated significantly. We were there early in the evening, lots of empty tables. Food came after 5 minutes, which is unfortunately how it tasted. The veal schnitzel was dry and the breading was bitter. The pork loin was flat?!, dry and fried to death. Food that takes 5 minutes to prepare can't be any different. Side dishes were lukewarm to cold. It's a shame, it used to be really good here.

I cannot confirm the sometimes exuberant reviews here. The food was quite good, but far too small in terms of size. It's not a posh Italian restaurant, which would justify the small portions. The ambience is not bad, although the space is completely used up and the seating is quite tight overall. What we noticed particularly negatively was that the service team was more concerned with speed and quick processing of guests. It was a very hectic atmosphere, the service team didn't seem really authentic and even as we were sitting, a new reserved sign was placed on our table. If you're looking for a restaurant with a relaxed atmosphere and customer-oriented service, you won't find it here. We won't come back.

Ich kann die zum Teil überschwänglichen Bewertungen hier nicht bestätigen. Das Essen war ganz gut, allerdings von der Größe her viel zu wenig. Es handelt sich ja nicht um einen Nobelitaliener, was die kleinen Portionen rechtfertigen würde. Das Ambiente ist nicht schlecht, wobei der Platz komplett ausgereizt wird und man insgesamt recht eng sitzt. Besonders negativ aufgefallen ist uns, dass es dem Serviceteam eher um Geschwindigkeit und ein schnelle Abfertigung der Gäste geht. Es war eine sehr hektische Atmosphäre, das Serviceteam wirkte nicht wirklich authentisch und noch als wir saßen, wurde ein neues reserviert Schild bei uns auf den Tisch gestellt. Wer ein Restaurant mit entspannter Atmosphäre und kundenorientierten Service sucht, wird hier nicht fündig werden. Wir werden nicht wieder kommen.

Great quality and taste. Best Italian cuisine. The service was perfect, courteous, attentive. We went there spontaneously and got a table outside for 2 people. The pricing matches the quality. I don't know why it was our first time at al Monumento, but definitely not our last. A clear recommendation on Norderney!

After a long walk across the island in summer temperatures that felt like 30 degrees with no wind behind the dunes, we found this small but nice Italian restaurant near the Kaiser Wilhelm monument (one of the few that was already open before 5 p.m., it was short after 4 p.m.). To recharge our batteries for the first time, we shared an appetizer platter with our children (17 and 19), which really suited our taste and left us wanting more. The fish plate and the pollock were perfect. The portion size left us room for an ice cream in the city later :-) but it was just right at the moment and in the warmth. The staff was very friendly and willing to provide information about the children's special requests. The espresso at the end was wonderful, as you would expect from a real Italian restaurant. We definitely recommend al Monumento and would come back ourselves.

The staff is friendly but unfortunately the beers are always served well below the official calibration mark. That can happen, but this year I've already been to Norderney twice and to this restaurant four times. Always the same. That seems to be intentional. It's a shame because we won't be going to this restaurant anymore.

Really great. We first went to another restaurant and left after 20 minutes because we weren't served. Here at al Monumento we were warmly welcomed and served very nicely. The food was very reasonably priced and extremely tasty. We recommend.

The three of us had dinner. My pasta with beef fillet was not to my satisfaction. The fillet was good, but the remaining meat was not edible. My complaint was noted but otherwise ignored. For over 100 euros I expect a lot more.

What can you say? During the walk the drinks menu was tempting and we spontaneously got a table for the same evening. Regardless of whether the boss personally or the staff was great. Very concerned about the customer, quick and great service. The kitchen does a great job and the food was perfect. You immediately feel at home and the warm manner makes it easy for you. A clear recommendation for the island. A great price/performance ratio... If you come back to the island, we will definitely come here again.

A real Italian trattoria. The ambience in a beautiful monument is extraordinary. The food is not off the shelf and super tasty. And then there is the real Italian hospitality, where you feel right at home and welcomed like an old friend. The Al Monumento is like a mini vacation in Italy in the middle of Norderney.

We ate here for the second time today. The cod was fried until translucent with mustard sauce and buttered potatoes. Delicious. Matjes, lasagna and schnitzel are also recommended and delicious. Service very friendly. Upon request, the sauce was also served separately from the dish. We won't be here for the last time.

We walked through Norderney looking for a good restaurant that had two seats for us without prior reservation. We stopped at al Monumento and took a look at the menu. She was doing very well, so we decided to go in. The restaurant was full to capacity. When we asked if there were two seats left, we were promptly answered that there were two seats available upstairs for 1.5 hours and that we could eat a starter, main course and dessert without any problems. I think the gentleman at the door was the manager or the owner. Very likeable man and takes good care of his guests. You feel welcome even without a reservation. The order was taken quickly and the starter arrived after a maximum of 10 minutes. It felt like 5 minutes. After this was finished, the main course followed almost immediately. Starters: Bruschetta Trio & Vitello Tonato Main courses: Saltimbocca The entire meal was delicious and some of the best Italian food I have ever eaten. The service is remarkably fast, friendly and always has a relaxed saying in store. This is how I imagine gastronomy! If my girlfriend and I come to Norderney again, we will pay you a visit again!

Beware of fraud! Wanted 170€ too much!! We were traveling with a larger group of girls and had reserved a table in the evening. At the beginning, one of us left an amount with the waiter as an invitation for the group. The cellar probably saw that as an invitation to cheat on us. In the end, the treasurer was told the remaining amount was far too high. There was already a lie of €100. When we wanted to see the receipt, it was “deleted”. We addressed another cellar, then the receipt was suddenly there. The cellar then simply gave us €100 and wanted to push us out of the store. However, a look at the receipt showed us that the first dish had not been ordered by us. We still couldn't see the receipt directly because the cellar covered it, but we made a rough estimate and received another €70 back when we asked. Pay close attention to your receipts and count your cash carefully! “Completely by chance” no EC reader worked… Pure disappointment, but the food was really tasty.

Wir waren mit 3 Personen am Ostermontag Abend im Al Monumento. Wir hatten einen Tisch für 19:45 - 20:00 Uhr reserviert. Um 20:00 Uhr wurden wir wieder weggeschickt weil kein Tisch frei war und sollten in 15 Minuten wieder kommen. Wir mussten dann wieder warten bis ein Tisch frei wurde. Darüber konnten wir noch hinweg sehen, weil an einem solchen Abend eben sehr viel los ist. Aber es wurde leider nicht besser. Das bestellte Steak medium war noch "rare". Ein anschließend bestelltes kleines Alster wurde in gross gebracht und abschließend war ein Glas Wein zu viel auf der Rechnung. So hatten wir uns den Abend eigentlich nicht vorgestellt !

We were greeted warmly and even the door was held open for us by Keller, who was open-minded and in a good mood! That's what I call a welcome! We got a great seat in front of the counter and could look directly into Friedrichstrasse. We were given expert advice on which tonic we should drink our “Dejavue” with. We were also told other news that there will be aperitifs in 2024 and were told that, for example, the PIMS is a gin with herbs etc. (Also a pleasure on its own.) Since the kitchen is open all day, we were able to eat a little something even at 12 p.m., although the tarte flambée was plentiful, but with its cheese it looked more like a pizza and the pond was more reminiscent of puff pastry. Unfortunately, my risotto with porcini mushrooms didn't have much in common with a classic risotto and the sauce was far too dominant and you didn't taste anything that was reminiscent of a classic risotto. It was worth a try, although in retrospect I should have had the spaghetti aglio e olio with Gambias, you can't go wrong with that. But the bottom line is a great location, with nice outdoor seating, a great waiter with a large selection of aperitifs and other drinks. That's why we'll definitely come back!

Short-term reservations by telephone were made possible. We were rewarded with lovingly prepared starters (Vitello Tonnato and Tres Bruscetta) and main courses (Parpadelle with strips of beef and porcini mushrooms and Raviolo Tartufo), which were as tasty as they were sufficient. There is something for everyone on the menu. The portions are completely sufficient, we were more than full (no reason to complain, see previous review). Sehr gastfreundliches Restaurant, selbst unserem kleinen Hund wurde eine Decke hingelegt. Das Essen war sehr gut, frische Zutaten, heiß serviert und sehr schmackhaft. Auf der Speisekarte ist für jeden etwas dabei. Die Portionen sind völlig ausreichend, wir sind mehr als satt geworden (kein Grund sich zu beschweren, siehe Vorbewerter). Man möchte einfach länger sitzen bleiben, weil es so schön war.

Had dinner at Al Monumento again today. It was super tasty. Price performance fits. And the waiter is awesome. Super friendly and on the ball. Brought us a blanket straight away for our dog. Great. Nice restaurant, also for sitting outside. We were lucky and were able to sit outside in February thanks to the mild weather :-) Very attentive, friendly service. The food was very good, really special! Veal schnitzel Saltimbocca and pork fillets with rosemary potatoes. Highly recommended and worth the money.

Um satt zu werden, sollte man auf Vorspeise und Dessert nicht verzichten. Die Pastagerichte sind gekonnt zubereitet, ihnen fehlt außer einer anständigen Größe aber der letzte Pfiff. Die Preise sind vertretbar. Der Service ist sehr freundlich und auf Zack.

Delicious cocktails, super attentive and unobtrusive service. It wasn't a problem that we just wanted to have a cocktail. There was a Bramble blackcurrant, a Dejavu and lavender spritz. All delicious and you can have all gin cocktails without alcohol (gin 0%). The food at the neighboring table looked delicious and was very nicely presented. True to the motto “the eye eats with you”. We'll come back for dinner.

Heute im al Monumento gegessen. Hatten einen schönen Tisch auf der oberen Ebene. Service war sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Als Vorspeise gab es das Carpaccio vom Thunfisch und Bruscetta. Als Hauptspeise das Thunfisch Steak und Risotto ala Milanese. Alles war sehr lecker.

Zuerst möchte ich jedem raten der auf Norderney in einem schönen Ambiente mit super Service lecker essen möchte , sollte sich von Lokalen die NUR durch ihre Lage am Strand glänzen, fernhalten. Das wird nichts. Wohingegen das al Monumento alles hat was dazu beiträgt einen schönen Abend oder auch Mittag zu genießen. Super netter Service, wunderbares Essen und ein Ambiente zum wohlfühlen. Dazu moderate Preise. Mein Tipp, nichts wie hin

Wo fange ich an? Eigentlich läd das Restaurant augenscheinlich zum hereinkommen und verweilen ein. Der Service ist bemüht, freundlich aber ein wenig überfordert, das ist allerdings kein Wunder, da die Gastronomie mom. generell ein Personalproblem hat. Meine Frau und ich haben jeweils Vors. - und Hauptspeisen bestellt und zum Teil auch gegegessen... Was mich persönlich am meisten dazu bewogen hat nur zwei Sterne zu vergeben, daß der Gastronom Scampis anpreist und Garnelen verkauft (Tafelgericht "Sampi & Calamari Mista Frittura - *dazu am Ende mehr). Der Preis ist für mich erstmal sekundär bzw achte ich da nicht wirklich drauf, da ja bei Reisezielen mit primären Saisongeschäft anders kalkuliert werden muß! Ich hätte dort drauf achten müssen, dann wäre mir auch aufgefallen, daß bei diesem durchaus "günstigen" Preis was nicht stimmen kann. Ich habe es dem Chef umgehend mitgeteilt, daß ich darüber not amused bin. Er antwortete mit folgendem Wortlaut: "Das kann nicht sein, ich kaufe immer die Dicken, gehen sie mal nach nebenan, da können sie ein Scampipfännchen bestellen, gucken Sie sich mal die mickrigen Dinger da an!... Ich verwende immerhin 26/30er"... und verschwand in der Küche. (damit hat er sich nun selbst disqualifiziert, da er nun, vielleicht unbewusst?! , mir meine Vermutung bestätigt hat... Er legitimierte das komplett fade Essen übrigens mit dem "Ausfall eines Koches und das heute nur der Hilfskoch da wäre" - *dieser sollte trotzdem die Speisen probieren, wenn er sie kocht (ich kann eine Aioli auf Milch/Öl Basis leider nicht wirklich nachwürzen, sorry. - auch gehört dann Säure, Senf und Knoblauch dazu...ebenfalls kann ich in Teig frittierte Meeresfrüchte nicht mehr nachwürzen, denn Salz und Pfeffer haften dann nicht mehr!) "Antwort auf diesen Beschwerdepunkt:" sonst nehmen wir fertige Mayo", - damit habe ich subjektiv überhaupt kein Problem, denn wenn die Grundmayo passt, kann man dann aich nicht mehr allzu falsch machen... Das ungewürzte Salatbouquet (Rucola und Kirschtomaten) war übrigens unter den frittierten Meeresfrüchten... Mhhhh - garnicht mal so lecker! *hey, es ist kein Gemüsebett, sondern ein Bouquet / Bukett und gehört an den Rand! Irgendwann kam er zwischenzeitlich aus der Küche wieder und sagte O-Ton: "Hey, sie haben Recht, es steht Garnelen auf der Tüte"... Das für mich Übelste war allerdings, daß er die Tafel die nächsten Tage nicht geändert hat ( habe nach einer Woche noch einmal beim vorbeigehen geschaut - das nennt man übrigens Warenunterschiebung), er auf das Scampipfännchen des Nachbarrestaurants zu sprechen kam, (welches es dort im übrigen nicht gab, denn dort war ich zwei Tage später auch essen)um eigenes Kalkül, oder doch die Unwissenheit? zu kaschieren). Ihr bekommt diese zwei Sterne auch nur, weil der Fisch meiner Frau gut gebraten waren und zumindest meine Calamari ordentlich frittiert waren. Der Rest (Gemüse, Bruschetta (ohne Gewürze, geschweige denn Zwiebeln, Basilikum, oder, oder, oder) war ein kompletter Reinfall.) Der Espresso auf Haus hätte nicht sein müssen, darauf hätte ich gerne verzichtet ;-) dafür lieber einen ehrlichen Verkauf und leckeres Essen! Da ich mein Essen nicht aufgegessen habe, bin ich mindestens von einer Preisminderung ausgegangen - wobei es sich hier NICHT ums Geld geht. Generell gebe ich jedem Restaurant mindestens eine zweite Chance, aber diese habt ihr euch leider gänzlich verspielt.

Alles gut, allerdings sind Wein und Grappa viel zu teuer!

Wir haben einen schönen Abend verbracht, leckere italienische Küche. Der Service sehr gut, Personal ist mit Herzblut dabei. Tiramisu war Weltklasse. Kommen auf jeden Fall wieder.
