Sensational Japanese bar in Izakaya style. The clear menu offers a great selection of different Japanese delicacies, definitely try the karaage and takoyaki! Attention, Izakaya also means that you eat standing up, no seats! Nevertheless: 100% recommendation!

A few weeks ago, I visited 1oder8 with a few family members. We had a great time, we really enjoyed the food and drinks. However, because I was leaning against a pillar, I accidently touched a small picture frame causing it to drop and break. I felt the mood of the staff switching to grumpy and unfriendly, not accepting my apology. In the end, they charged us 20 euros for the damage. At the time, I felt too embarassed to say anything. However, later on I realised. This is the responsibility of the restaurant to ensure the safety of their customers. This is a standing bar, people drink, accidents happen. You can not blame a customer if an accident happens. Besides, every business should be insured for accidents like these. I apologized many times, but they didn't even respond to it. In the end, it ruined our night. I would have tipped in any case if they didn't charge us extra...

An experience! When we were looking for a small snack shortly after 10 p.m., we ended up in this authentic Japanese standing bar by chance. It couldn't have gone better, we got a seat after a short wait and were completely thrilled. Unfortunately we weren't that hungry, otherwise we would have tried a lot more. Great atmosphere, fantastic food and very friendly service. Be sure to try it out for yourself!

One friend accidentally bumped into a frame attached to a pole, which fell down. The owner reacted very grumpily and charged €20 for it. This is a place where you can only eat standing up, so it’s not unlikely that someone might lean against a pole or table. The fact that their frame wasn’t properly secured should be the restaurant’s responsibility, especially since it could even injure a customer.

A culinary delight in a class of its own. Best octopus I've ever eaten with a mayonnaise that was so delicious. The eggplant was a poem and the service was just super friendly. Delicious drinks and the price-performance ratio is right here. You completely forget that you have to stand ;)

I went to an omurice restaurant once because it served fried oysters. The cook seemed Japanese, so I went in. It was absolutely delicious for the price. I couldn't eat the fried oysters because they were fishy (because they were frozen, of course), but the rest was really delicious. The staff was friendly and highly recommended!!!! Definitely. One thing I don't like is that there is a shelf on the table, so it's very uncomfortable to eat because your head touches it..ㅠㅠ

Been there for the second time, the first time the store was super full and the waiting time was longer. This time we ordered four dishes from the speed menu and received them in about 10 minutes. Great taste and clear recommendation!

Review based on 1 experience. Let's get the ''cons'' out of the way. It's small, so parties of 4+? Good luck. This is a place for 2-3pp. You eat standing. Strange? A bit...Which is kind of the point. If you have been to Japan you will recognise the feeling. The food is great. Had ramen and soy marinated steak.

This lunchtime I tried a Japanese omurice and I loved it! The fluffy, perfectly cooked egg shell with the savory filling was a real treat. For €10 you not only get a delicious meal, but also great value for money. Absolutely recommended!

We were super positively surprised! We stumbled in without any prior knowledge of the store's concept and were immediately greeted warmly by everyone. The food is served to the standing guests in small spaces on the right and left along the dining room - it is a bit cramped and cozy, but it is twice as much fun because a completely different interaction takes place than when everyone is sitting at their little table. We tried out the (rather meat-heavy) menu and were surprised. In the end, each of us was able to choose a favorite on the menu and we went on to the theater full and happy about the surprisingly positive experience :) clear recommendation!

Place is quite small and can be full so it’s better to come earlier otherwise expect to wait in line for half an hour or so. Food is 10/10 i enjoyed it a lot and the wait was worth it!

Very small and probably very authentic shop for that very reason! The Japanese omelet was excellent and prepared with such craftsmanship that you really feel like you are in Japan! It is important to know that it is a kind of izakaya restaurant in the morning where you can also sit. In the evening it becomes a standing restaurant, which is relatively normal in Japan and also has a great flair!

Addendum: after being in Japan all I can say is that it is so authentic. The food is great, just as good as in Japan, I would even say! The smallest details in the restaurant (the sheets at the entrance, the way the food is presented, the music, the chefs saying goodbye/thank you loudly) are exactly like in Japan. Simply great!! Authentic Japanese restaurant with a modern touch. The music in the background is pleasant and fits the ambience very well (Japanese city pop). The kitchen, which you can look into, looks very clean. The food was very tasty. I can only recommend the Tonkotsu Ramen! Significantly better than those in the area! I'll be back :)

You can definitely do it for the price

Food and service is great. However being a small place it gets bit stuffed during rush hours.

We were at 1oder8 on a Wednesday evening and quickly got a table without making a reservation (we were there just after it opened). The shop seems quite small/cramped due to its narrow design, but it still has its own charm. Since we weren't particularly hungry, we all ordered a few snacks and something to drink. We ordered, among other things, Geso-Kara (fried squid tentacles), the matcha cream cheese taiyaki and the cheesecake with yuzu jam. My sister and I don't drink or tolerate alcohol at all, so we explicitly ordered sour drinks without alcohol (everyone ordered for themselves, so this was said twice each). In addition, it is also stated separately for the sour drinks that they are all available without alcohol. The food came relatively quickly and so did the drinks. First of all, the food was very tasty and absolutely impressed us. However, the first time I drank some of my drink, I immediately thought it contained alcohol. I was confused by the fact that our friends, who had also tried the drink, told us that there was no alcohol in it. I also thought to myself that it was unlikely that they had even laced both drinks with alcohol and that there would only be an "imitation" alcohol taste. Only after I had already drunk three quarters of the drink and we had finished eating did I start to feel very warm and uncomfortable. When paying, I asked the waitress whether there was alcohol in the drinks, which she confirmed (she was shocked/regretful herself). Now for my review: The food was great. However, I have to deduct a few points for the service, although there was generally friendliness. Once for serving alcohol despite an explicit request not to do so. And that we still had to pay in full for the drinks. Unfortunately, the alcohol made me feel really bad that evening, so I had to put my future plans on hold. Overall, I fluctuated between 3 and 4 stars because I think it's a no-go. Due to the lack of attention, I would recommend being careful here in case someone has an allergy or is pregnant. Despite all this, in this case I'm choosing 4 stars (but deducting stars in the service area instead) because the food was very good and that's mainly why I'm writing the review. However, whether I will go again is another question :)

My brother told me about the cool store and today we finally managed to check it out. As a chef and restaurateur of Asian cuisine, I am impressed. After every bite I had to do a little dance of joy (if you're a total foodie, you'll understand what I mean :D) Give it a try guys, eating while standing was also a cool new experience :) My absolute favorite was the eggplant in miso, the fried squid and karaage, the breading just mhhhhhhh... <3

Went to the restaurant shortly after midnight to have something good to snack on. Unfortunately there was no more ramen, so we ordered karaage and takoyaki. Was great, authentically Japanese. Maybe a little earlier next time.

There is only standing room and there is only one person cooking, so the food is late. Still, I was satisfied with the food. I ordered karaoke and pollack roe baguette. There is a reason why karaage is a signature menu item. It's a pretty good portion and a generous portion.

Lovely place with welcoming staff and good food. We both had the omurice, one with curry+chicken and the other with pork. The rice is with butter and garlic flavour, well balanced. The omelette is soft. The only negative point are the seats, a bit uncomfortable, but food and staff are 5stars!

WONDERFUL, highly recommended. I can absolutely recommend this little Japanese shop. The food was very tasty and the quality was very good. The cleanliness of the toilets was also excellent. Since there is an open kitchen, you can watch the preparation and also see that it is very hygienic.

I came here alone, but still enjoyed the ambience thanks to the really good music taste, good mix of drinks and the superb food. The chicken had perfect juiciness, crispiness and sauce flavor. The kimchi cream cheese also goes perfectly with the drinks. I felt the ratio of cream cheese to kimchi was a bit higher than needed. Just be aware that it‘s a standing bar that‘s more suited for one or two people going together.

Unfortunately, apart from the fries, the food was very bad and unfortunately the waiters don't know what vegetarian means and even though you explicitly order a vegetarian dish, they still just serve you fish and a non-vegetarian soup. Just ridiculous

I'm just disappointed! I specially ordered my meal vegetarian just so that I would still be served fish roe and a non-vegetarian soup! With the soup I suspected it myself and asked again, with the main course I simply assumed that it was also vegetarian (as I read as a possibility on the menu and explicitly ordered)! Unfortunately, this wasn't the case and I had to pay extra for the fish roe, the price of which wasn't even mentioned on the menu - just a cheeky thing! By the way, the waitress and chef couldn't even understand that I, as a long-term vegetarian, obviously have a problem with this "misunderstanding"...

Was very positively surprised. When you come in everyone greets you and of course says goodbye. Very kind and attentive. The waitress was super sweet and nice. 👍🏼 She offered us some recommendations that were good. Food was very tasty, although I'm not a big fan of fried things. It's also something different to stand and eat. This means you can also have a good conversation with your neighbors, which I think is great. Price performance a bit expensive but it is unique in Düsseldorf. We'd love to come back. Shortcoming: No - Conclusion: Good food and great little new atmosphere. Friendly people. You should definitely stop by here. A good recommendation!!!

Food is ok - my favourites were the fried shrimp and the eggs. I’m giving 2 stars because I was forced to order a drink even though I didn’t want it. The waitress said “this is a bar everybody have to drink”. I didn’t want to leave because of my friends. There are no seats (fyi)!!!

A very nice bistro. The freshly fried chicken is juicy and seasoned just right to go with wine. After drinking Katana, this wine is very soft and has some sweetness in the aftertaste, which goes well with the salty taste of edamame. The store manager is very friendly but meticulous in his work. You can see that there are many timers in order to grasp more accurate time. As for the environment, there are no seats, so you can only stand. The lights and colors in the store are very warm, I believe it will be very good if you come in winter.

The food is delicious and they have great prices! I will come back many times. There aren't any normal tables, just a bar counter and high chairs. Not the most comfortable, but the establishment is small so they probably didn't have any other option.

Mega cool store with an interesting standing concept. As soon as you enter you are greeted by everyone and the service is generally extremely friendly. The food was really incredibly good, and there was also an interesting and exotic selection of drinks. The kaarage are very tender and an absolute recommendation, as is the cheese cake as dessert. You can generally really let off steam and choose from many side dishes and dishes. Definitely worth a visit!

We felt like we were transported straight back to Tokyo. The food was phenomenal, the owners were friendly and the drinks were authentic. Best food in the Japan district of Düsseldorf. It's a standing bar, don't let that put you off! A visit is absolutely worth it. If you have physical limitations, you can also get a chair, just ask if it is urgently needed. A Japanese bar with the option to eat standing up. Definitely the best tonkatsu ramen I've ever eaten. An explosion in taste. The broth was very intense and all the components harmonized perfectly.

The service was great, the food was very tasty and the price-quality ratio was too. I have never eaten such delicious karage!!

Great food and great vibes at 1oder8! Service was a tad slow on a busy weeknight, but the food definitely made up for it. The only downside is that the establishment is quite small and has no seating, so it can be uncomfortable for some, and not wheelchair accessible. Otherwise, it's great! The kaarage and duck were my highlights!

There were two of us there. The lunch menu was only omurice and you could choose one of three sauces. The sauce and my omurice were mildly salted and lightly seasoned. The soup also went well with it. The owner is very friendly, polite and speaks English.

I got the kimchi cream cheese and tonkotsu ramen. Both were delicious. I did not expect the kimchi cream cheese to be good. The ramen’s broth was very good. It’s inexpensive. The service was great! I will go back, for sure.

1oder8 is a hidden gem among the Japanese stand-up restaurants in Düsseldorf. Small but powerful, when discovered it turns out to be the best place for Asian snacks and drinks in the city. The selection is surprisingly diverse, each dish a highlight of Japanese cuisine. Add a matching Asian drink and the taste experience is perfect. Once discovered, 1oder8 quickly becomes a favorite for anyone looking for real Japanese cuisine in Düsseldorf.

There is something very rare here. Frequently seen and searched for on the internet and so far ONLY found here in the lunch menu at 1oder8. We're talking about Omurice. It was very well prepared and tasted good too. I can recommend everyone to try it. Staff was very friendly. Overall, the standing bar was also completely convincing with its authentic furnishings. Gladly again.

A nice Japanese standing bar / izakaya, with a good selection of different snacks, sours, sake and much more. My sister and I come here almost every week and even though we've loved it since the first visit, the store gets better every time. We try our way through the entire menu with changing offerings and the dishes and sours were consistently delicious. The preparation and serving of the food is very loving - you can tell that the boss understands his craft and enjoys doing it. The employees are all friendly and the boss always greets and thanks them when they say goodbye. We always feel warmly welcome and valued.

The 1oder8 is an izakaya snack bar right next to Immermannstrasse and offers snacks that you can enjoy while standing. Little things like takoyaki balls (dough balls filled with octopus pieces) or small skewers or marinated small slices of pork belly. All quite tasty with a cool Kirin beer.

Such an amazing experience, loved the vibe here. Music was good and the whole place felt cozy. Im not often in Düsseldorf but I will definetly come back if I go to Düsseldorf again.

During the festival there was also omur ice cream as a special, which was really delicious. The karaage were also very tasty and juicy. Not sure about the standing concept, which is why I'm deducting a star here.

We came to 1oder8 by chance last night. We initially stood in line across the street and wanted to wait, but the place and menu looked very appealing, so we went in. If you don't know what to expect, you'll be surprised at the missing chairs. But in the end the bill was worth it: instead of waiting hungry in the cold for 30 minutes, we had delicious food and good drinks. I wasn't familiar with the concept, but it reminded me a lot of sitting together with a beer after work. Our favorite was the pork and pointed cabbage omelet. I recommend a visit!

I've been here three times and I feel like the place gets better each time. The small dishes are not only delicious - they are very tasty and are visually also lovingly prepared. Takoyaki are one of the best in town. The duck was perfectly tender. Kimchi + Cream Cheese is a delight. One is surprised that Tsukune can taste so good. The sour cocktails are very sweet but also very refreshing and the frozen fruits make it even tastier. The concept is great - the fact that you can have a "snack bar" of this level here late in the evening/at night is a brilliant thing. The employees are very nice, you are always warmly welcomed and the atmosphere is great. Some orders arrive after a while, but there is clearly care and quality behind them.

Went to 1oder8 for the first time and were really excited. A very unusual concept for Germany, but totally convincing. Both the food and drinks were great, the atmosphere and warmth were worth their weight in gold. We felt extremely welcome. the japanese curry week - the coffee pop up shop before that. you can only applaud the creativity this place has to stand out compared to otherwise „similar“ restaurants around it.

Japanische „Standing Bar“ im Herzen des Düsseldorfer Japan- Viertels, die neben einer reichhaltigen Getränkekarte, insbesondere mit japanischen Longdrinks, auch tolle Gerichte zum teilen anbietet, die in der offenen Küche frisch zubereitet werden. Eine echte Bereicherung für das Japan- Viertel und in der Klosterstraße gelegen auch etwas abseits des Trubels, den man zuweilen von der Immermannstraße kennt.

Absolut klasse! Nicht von der kleinen Location „abschrecken“ lassen. Das essen ist auf top Niveau und unfassbar lecker! Wenn man genug bestellt kann man hier auch den großen Hunger stillen. Es sind nicht nur Snacks! Auch das eiskalte Kirin Bier ist super! Die Bestreiber sind sehr nett und geben sich vor allem sehr viel Mühe! Ich werde noch sehr oft dort sein.

Kleine Gerichte auf höchstem Niveau! Ich habe selten so hervorragend japanische Kleinigkeiten gegessen wie hier, die Küche schlägt wirklich die größeren Restaurants und Ketten in der Umgebung. Ich habe besonders das Spicy Egg und den frittierten Tintenfisch genossen. Das Chayi(?)Chasu (geschmortes Schweinefleisch) war nicht von dieser Welt. Es war auf einer gesonderten Tageskarte, aber ich drücke uns die Daumen, dass es ins feste Menü aufgenommen wird! 😁 Die Mitarbeiter sind sehr freundlich und das Ambiente ist locker und casual. Ich bin froh das Lokal entdeckt zu haben und werde ab jetzt regelmäßig dort sein.

Japanese standing bar, such a unique experience. The fried potato was the best. It was thicker than normal fried potatoes, but the texture was amazing. It’s crispy outside and soft inside. The eggplant with miso sauce is highly recommended.
