Food was okay so far. We had roast pork with potato dumplings and schnitzel with asparagus and potatoes and hollondaise sauce. For dessert we had Kaiserschmarrn with applesauce and apple cake. Kaiserschmarrn was homemade and apple fritters were also very good. Roast pork was a bit over the top. Hence a star deduction. But that could well be because we only came in the afternoon. The schnitzel and the side dish were very good. Service good.
There was even live music on site with Hanse Schoierer. Very good entertainment.
Ambiance is just enough for a sports restaurant.
Very nice bosses, the boss is very creative, the waitresses are also very friendly and the service is very quick. Particularly noteworthy
is. You immediately feel at home: is.
The food was far too greasy and the meat was cooked in the deep fryer, after 2 plates the sauces were no longer available despite having been ordered months in advance, the food came out extremely unevenly. When the second round got their food, the first had already finished eating in 15 minutes and the drinks were also brought incorrectly. Carbonated water was brought several times instead of still water and the glasses were not clean either. We are a large group but certain things still have to work. Therefore only one star. Not recommended!
Always good, down-to-earth cuisine. Price-performance is great. I've never received anything that I didn't like.
Unfortunately, this facility no longer exists.
You're sitting in a real oasis of calm, everyone is trying very hard and the menu offers something for everyone.
Sometimes the taste is a bit lacking, but we really enjoy going!
I've enjoyed being a guest here for decades, but the way in which the gentleman in the gray jacket in the old blacksmith's shop has to shamelessly throw me out really pisses me off.
Yes, it was Saturday evening around 7:00 p.m. in Advent and no, the two of us hadn't made a reservation. It doesn't cost anything to ask and we were shown two "free" seats, at a table occupied by two groups in the middle of the table and opposite each other. But, since we are both seasoned men and you could only guess where the two chairs were, we didn't want to squeeze ourselves between the two groups. When we declined, the gentleman in the gray jacket became extremely unfriendly and said; He would show us free seats and we should take them now or go out immediately. I also said that we should please remain friendly. This then caused the person to really aggressively start the way out with us and continue to complain that...
... until we no longer said in a friendly and firm manner that it would be enough now. Someone like that really has no place in the hospitality industry and stress isn't an excuse either, since at that time the old forge was pretty empty except for this table and possibly two smaller ones.
We really enjoyed the upscale Bavarian cuisine, so the slightly above-average prices are justified
Our tip is the Caesar side salad
When it gets full it is quite loud, the dining room has poor acoustics, so we deduct a star
The food is really tasty. The waiter was annoyed even though there were still few people in the restaurant. He even had problems implementing an order of spaetzle on French fries. Really a shame. If he doesn't enjoy his job, he should just work somewhere else.
A unique place and a shame that it no longer exists after so many years. The Lucullus was truly the living heart of Birkenau and you were always greeted as a neighbor. I celebrated my last birthdays there in the beer garden - it was simply uncomplicated, sociable and cozy. Thank you for the great years, I think we will all miss it sorely.
