Interpretation of the restaurant review:
The evaluation is characterized by professional depth, emotional authenticity and a great appreciation for good craftsmanship. It becomes clear right from the start: the author is not an ordinary guest, but someone with in-depth knowledge, high standards and a fine sense of observation - especially when it comes to cuisine, service and ambience.
Service & Atmosphere:
The service was described as “quiet, unobtrusive, stealthy” – a style that shows professionalism, but does not convey the Italian lifestyle of “Passione e calore italiano”. The same applies to the ambience: simple and functional, but without that certain Mediterranean flair that you expect from an Italian restaurant. The friendliness and politeness of the staff are nevertheless positively emphasized.
Food:
The real heart of the review is the food – this is where criticism really flourishes. The “green side salad” we ordered turned out to be much larger than expected (more like a main course), but the quality was completely convincing. Fresh ingredients, an excellently balanced yoghurt dressing and the professional way of cutting the iceberg lettuce into fine strips are evidence of experience and attention to detail. A seemingly simple dish is enhanced by craftsmanship.
The lasagna was praised almost hymnically. The critic particularly praises the Ragù Bolognese - he has rarely enjoyed such an authentically prepared version in OWL (Ostwestfalen-Lippe). Ingredients such as celery and carrots show that the work here is based on the Italian model. The only point of criticism: the lack of béchamel sauce, which for the reviewer would have made a classic lasagne perfect. Nevertheless, it is enough for a “1” – the highest rating, with the caveat that a “plus” would have been possible with pancetta and béchamel.
Conclusion:
The assessment is technically sound, emotionally honest and profound. Despite small criticisms of the ambience and service, it is clear that someone cooks here with heart, knowledge and passion. The critic recognizes the potential – not just in the kitchen, but in the entire concept – and concludes with a clear “Top, come back!”
Al Castello used to be available for on-site dining, take-away and delivery. The only options now are local pickup or delivery. Unfortunately.
But the food is very good, the pizzas are quite good and a fair price for what you get. Pasta dishes are also very hot, so you can still enjoy them warm at home when you pick them up. However, you have to park in a place where you are not allowed to stand (just a few meters further down). Or you run to the Seeweg parking lot, where you are officially allowed to park. But until then it's already a few meters.
If you call and want to have food delivered, the minimum order value is now 15 euros (not that I'm wrong, I haven't had anything delivered for a while).
BUT: you can also conveniently place your order via WhatsApp, which is really great. And if you're a little below the minimum order value... you can round up with a tip and they'll still deliver. And it's worth it, because the order can be delivered to you really quickly if you have a good time. I called shortly after 5 p.m. and after just 30 minutes the delivery driver rang my doorbell.

I called today and wanted to order delivery. I was told very politely that there was a lot going on and it would take about two hours. Since I live in the same area, I suggested picking it up myself. The lady was very accommodating and agreed to pick it up in 10 minutes. I was speechless. The chili cheese burger with sweet potatoes... Smashed Burger Style 🤩 were already waiting for me at the counter after 9 minutes. I can't describe to you what a taste explosion I had... you'll just have to try it for yourself.

Ordered for delivery.. Burger bread was more than burnt on the edges.. and the aioli is like water.. I used to think it was better. I don't know what you changed but you should change it again. Definitely the last order from me
We regularly order lunch here through the company. The orders are delivered on time, the boss and the employees are always very friendly. The food tastes delicious, there is a large selection and the prices are fair.
The boss doesn't want to make pizza anymore because it's 1:30 p.m. .. 2 p.m. is lunch break according to him .. not bad, this pizzeria must be doing well financially .. no way
Very disappointing.
The food wasn't cooked thoroughly and took over an hour to arrive. It was inedible, and I'm seriously worried it could give you food poisoning. Absolutely not recommended.
