Dear Ms. Stavridou, I am writing to you today with a complaint regarding my attempt to make a delivery from your pizzeria La Rustica. This evening, I called you around 7:15 PM to place a delivery order to 55129 Mainz-Hechtsheim (your neighboring town). My goal was to order directly from you, thereby deliberately avoiding the Lieferando platform. The reasons for this are varied – from the excessive fees you have to pay to questionable business practices by Lieferando itself, to the significantly higher prices they charge for your food. A simple example: Italian salad at Lieferando: €16.30, directly from you: €12.50 - Difference: €3.80 Four Seasons pizza at Lieferando: 33cm €19.37, directly from you: 33cm €14.90 - Difference: €4.47 I understand that you are passing on these costs, as you have to pay Lieferando. Therefore, it would be more than fair if you also allowed direct delivery orders by phone. A pizza at Lieferando costs up to €5 more than if ordered directly from your restaurant. So, I was all the more surprised when I was told on the phone that delivery was only possible via Lieferando – they couldn't accept delivery orders by phone or directly from your restaurant. To be honest, I was stunned. We have very good restaurants here in our neighborhood in Hechtsheim. I don't rely on ordering from you, but I wanted to support you. Especially in today's world, when many restaurants are fighting for their survival and regular customers play a crucial role, I find this practice more than just incomprehensible – in my opinion, it's simply customer-unfriendly. It creates the impression that the additional revenue generated through Lieferando is more important to you than the direct connection with customers. I find this business policy extremely disappointing – especially because I valued your restaurant. Unfortunately, I now feel compelled to leave a negative review to make other potential customers aware of this practice. I sincerely hope that you take this warning seriously and reconsider your delivery policy. Direct orders – whether by phone or via your own website – should also be in your best interest. Transparency, customer service, and fairness should not be sacrificed in favor of platform fees and convenience. I wish you all the best and "good business!"
