We used to go to the Mercato Deluxe several times and were always really impressed. The ambience with the high tables, the large display counter with sausages, pasta, cheese and antipasti and, last but not least, the friendly, competent and spirited service staff always made the visit a real experience.
This time, however, we were very disappointed. Let me say in advance: the food was very tasty! The ambience outside is simple and of course can only be influenced to a certain extent. But much of the former charm has also been lost in the restaurant.
It was a warm summer evening and we were more in the mood for various small dishes rather than large and possibly heavy main courses. That's why we ordered antipasto misto, six variants of MERCATINI BRUSCHETTE and a salad with mountain herbs and goat cheese.
And here the disappointment began. The antipasti consisted primarily of various creams and blobs of salad, a few vegetables and a few slices of ham. No salami, no cheese, no olives and, as I said, only a few vegetables. Conveniently, most of the creams/spreads were also found on our bruschette. The salads then also appeared in the salad with goat cheese. So we basically had more or less the same thing three times, slightly varied. I would have liked the service person to have mentioned this when ordering. Then we would probably have chosen a different combination.
However, the service staff was the biggest annoyance. Listless, taciturn and not at all attentive. We were not asked once during the meal if we would like any more drinks, even though empty bottles were cleared away. Only when we asked for the bill were we asked whether everything was OK and whether we would like to order anything else such as coffee or desserts. When I expressed my irritation about the duplication of dishes, the only information I received was that it was on the menu - and not even from our waitress, but from a colleague. However, the menu does not say that the antipasti consist primarily of salads and creams, which are also used in the salad and on the bruschette.
After the bill was brought to us, no one showed up to actually settle the bill. At some point I went to the restaurant so that we could finally end the evening.
For us, service counts at least 50% in a restaurant and unfortunately that was our last visit to this once great restaurant.
The operator is very, very nice...as a service technician I sometimes have to do business on this street...and every time I was there there were very nice moments...I was always invited and nice conversations made the pizza even better...
If I write that the bread was the best part of a very boring salad, then that says something about the quality! If I write that €8 is charged here for an insignificant bottle of water, then that says something about the price! If I write that with a turnover of €270 (6p) there isn't even a "thank you" shot from the grumpy boss, then that says something about the service!

Now that I've read through her pitiful response to my review, I can't help but ask myself:
"Why did I tip €12?" Probably because (at that point) I just “felt like it”?
You have understood nothing, absolutely nothing (!), of what I have written and what you want to achieve with an objective criticism!? Service = 0 (zero) stars!
Although the trend is (perceived?) increasing, it is still the absolute majority of restaurants and pubs that are quite capable of conjuring up a delicious and sophisticated dish (even with "what the market has to offer"!)!
Otherwise we would really have a “serious” catering problem!
In the past I would have been extremely annoyed by someone like you, but today I just go where people still value each other!
arrivederci per semper!
We came to have a nice dinner through our friend who lives here. It is a very pleasant place. It is small but friendly. The starters were very delicious. The pastas themselves and their sauces were very successful as a whole. It would be better if you make a reservation. There are a limited number of tables inside.
Went there for dinner and had a table for 4 people. Food was delicious and everything was brought to the table very quickly. If someone is there again for rehab, they'll be happy to come and eat again. We can recommend the restaurant without reservation.
There was a special menu for Easter. Unfortunately not to our taste. The great new boss still baked us 2 normal pizzas. Great service and very nice operation. The food was delicious and we can recommend the restaurant.
Sono andato a pranzo con mia moglie, se venite da queste parti Ve lo consiglio vivamente, qui si può provare della buona cucina italiana all' estero, personale gentile e simpatico, ottimi vini, consiglio provate il pesce!!
I've been there twice now and will definitely go more often.
The food is great, the service is very friendly and quick.
Inside it is very nice and comfortably furnished in a rustic-Mediterranean style, outside you can also sit very well.
As a vegetarian, I got along very well and also saw other dishes on the menu that I will try in the future.
Highly recommended!
Unfortunately the service has deteriorated extremely!!!
Only the Aachen Chickeria receives friendly service...we were ignored for an hour.
We enjoyed eating there often for a long time, but unfortunately not anymore.
Very disappointing!!!
