We were here again for the first time since the change in ownership and chef. Unfortunately, the quality of the food and therefore the price-performance ratio do not come close to its predecessor. My fish trio was dry and fried to death at a price of 28.50 euros. The vegetables were on point, but bland and carelessly arranged. A pat of butter and a little salt could have worked wonders. I also missed some love for the starter, bruschetta. Quartered cherry tomatoes are not what I know as bruschetta. When eating, everything fell apart because the pieces were too big. My mother had ordered spaghetti aglio e olio and when she finished the pasta there was still a huge pool of oil on the plate. So the chef has to get a little better. The service was nice and the ambience is great. We will therefore give the restaurant another chance soon.

As the start of a concert evening, we started at the Osteria Il Ghiotto. You sit in an aquarium-like glass box in which it gets very, very loud as the number of guests increases! The service is quite quick, the food is ok, the veal chop is recommended! Prices pleasant.

This story is based on a true story and all characters are not fictional. On the way home we wanted to eat somewhere and so I reserved a table at Ristorante Fiorello in Cronenberg at short notice. Why not try a solid local Italian restaurant?! The restaurant in the former traditional house “Zum Alten Köhler”, which has been located for over 10 years, was founded in 2023 by anonymous people? Wuppertaler Rundschau restaurant testers were awarded the “Golden W” in the “Service with Heart” category. The ambience is of course a matter of taste, you feel like you are in a country inn from the 70s and only the red and white checkered tablecloths are apparently intended to convey some Italian flair. We found the bright lighting to be a bit annoying and not particularly comfortable. We chose the Penne all' Arrabbiata and a homemade pizza with vegetables and Gorgonzola from the appropriately old-school look menu. I asked for some garlic oil in a separate bowl and the friendly waiter assured me that this would be happy to do as was the case at the next table. A short time later the gentleman appeared again and informed me that the chef would not serve garlic oil for just one person and that he would put the garlic on the pizza in advance. I then said that I didn't like baked garlic and wanted to measure the amount myself. No, my friendly request came to nothing. The boss explicitly said that this would only be possible for several guests and that it would taste good. Actually the best time to get up and go, but my loved one was looking forward to some nice spicy arrabiata and so I resigned myself to my fate. The pasta was cooked al dente to perfection and was quite spicy as requested. Unfortunately I can only describe the pizza as below average. I can't remember ever having a pizza so full of cheese and the vegetables, which were slightly watery in parts, could have used a little more seasoning. It's actually a shame, because the dough was well made and I also liked the crispy, fluffy edge. However, I wasn't particularly interested in further discussion and didn't complain. As we all know, hunger drives in so many things. The boss soon appeared in the dining room, greeted a pair of regular guests with a handshake and asked how satisfied they were. The lady asked for garlic oil and they quickly rushed to the kitchen and immediately came back with a small bowl for the single lady. By now I would have expected someone from “Understand Fun” at our table, but it was only the boss who seriously asked us whether we were satisfied. After a short speechlessness, I of course made my anger known. The gentleman seemed as if we had been caught, he mumbled something about a misunderstanding, turned around and sent me the waiter, who had to dutifully apologize, the classic pawn sacrifice case. The waiter who really tried hard couldn't have come up with such a stupid story and the two requests for a separate bowl couldn't have been misunderstood. You have to like oversized garlic under and in the middle of the lush blanket of cheese. It's a shame I wasn't allowed to decide for myself. As a non-regular guest, it is advisable to give this inhospitable house a wide berth. Unless you're into nostalgic time travel, dusty decorations from days long gone and pizzas that are completely covered in paste. Then you've come to the right place. We forego any further service with heartfelt experience. Who wants to feel like a second class guest?! I also much prefer writing reviews about great restaurant visits, committed restaurateurs with high standards and authentic cuisine. It can be simple, it just has to be good. Card payment is not possible and an Italian with a bit of honor in his body would not only offer open table wine in discounter quality. Contemporary gastronomy is completely different.
