Anyone who writes here that the food isn't good has either lost all taste buds or has some other perceptual impairment! We've been eating here at least 3-4 times a year for almost 20 years (!!), and we drive quite a distance to do so, and we enjoy it because the value for money is simply top-notch! Fantastic food, and everything is fresh and delicious! The service isn't always very friendly, which is unfortunately true. There seems to be a bit of a grumpiness in the family, and that's consistent throughout... But no more or less than at the "Urbayern" (traditional Bavarians) around the corner. We enjoy coming back again and again and enjoy the great food!

Il Pomodoro is a busy restaurant in Rüttenscheid, especially on weekends. Reservations are recommended. With luck, you might even find a free spot on a walk-in. During the week, you're more likely to get lucky with walk-ins, and sometimes you can choose your own seating. We eat here occasionally. We've always been satisfied. The service is prompt and friendly. The food is always generously portioned, and the prices are truly reasonable. Whether it's pizza or pasta, there's something for every taste. There are also regular variations of the dishes on the menu, which are posted on the wall. Due to its location, it's within walking distance for us. Those arriving by car will need a bit of luck, as parking is limited at the Rüttenscheid exit and in the surrounding area. Otherwise, public transport connections are very good. Within walking distance of the Florastraße stop and/or the Messe Essen/Ost (Essen East Exhibition Center).

It looks nice from the outside, but was closed even though it showed open on the website. We would have liked to have lunch here, but there was no notice on the door...

The service ladies were very friendly and accommodating. The bruchetta as a starter was unfortunately disappointing, it came very cold, it was mixed bread instead of baguette and the parmesan on top had no taste. The pizza that came afterwards was hot and very tasty. The price-performance ratio was top.
