Nice staff, typical of Kreuzberg (except for the boss; more on that later) and a nice interior. You sit at the long counter, see a record player playing and watch the dark-clad team cooking and serving. In between there is a man in a bright dervish look scurrying around, who is always trying here and having a glass of wine there - the boss, as it turns out. The food, "brutally local", is simple and good. But it is absolutely puzzling why a Michelin star was awarded here or, based on self-promotion, why this restaurant is supposedly one of the best 50 restaurants in the world (what???). Brutally local here means serving good bread with butter and local vegetables and sometimes a piece of meat; That's good, but it has absolutely nothing to do with high culinary art. You can do this yourself without any major problems after shopping at Denns. The simple meal comes out ok on the plates, but a high level of art would require at least beautiful presentation. When asked whether a record from the collection on display could be played, the dervish comes and humiliates the person who innocently asked in front of the other guests and the accompaniment with a raised index finger and shaking his head: "... where does the guest tell the DJ what kind Music he should play?...". All you can do is continue eating quickly, stunned and with a reduced appetite, and dutifully say goodbye after the last course. About time, because eating takes place in three shifts, which suggests high demand (are they all tourists?). I have no idea how long it's been since the Michelin testers visited, but I won't be setting foot in this place again. A one-cooker kitchen at a high one-star Michelin price and a boss like that aren't worth it to me, despite the lovely atmosphere.
