Iconic restaurant, lots of regulars, food ok, quite long waiting times for the food (40 minutes)

Edit (03/2025): Unfortunately, I have to significantly revise my previous 5-star review. What was once the best burger joint is now less than average. The "shrimp burger" consisted of a completely burnt underside; there was only sauce and five shrimp (smaller ones without batter, not like before). The lettuce and onions were missing, and we waited 40 minutes for them. When I asked honestly how the burger was, I received an honest answer. We still paid. A real shame!

THE BEST CHOICE Croatia is a popular holiday destination on the Adriatic. Many beaches and islands, old towns and nature parks, and certainly also because of its excellent cuisine. But you don't have to travel to Croatia to enjoy good Croatian cuisine. You can also stay in Herford for that. RESTAURANT CROATIA serves pure Croatian cuisine. From Balkan skewers to cevapcici, everything Croatian cuisine has to offer is represented. The menu offers a good selection. Life isn't always a menu with a wide selection of 😋 food where you always have a choice. One event is guaranteed to happen that you definitely can't opt ​​out of: DEATH. The Bible says: IT IS ORDERED UNTO A MAN TO DIE ONCE, AND AFTER THIS IS THE JUDGMENT, HEBREWS 9:27. After that, there is definitely no choice. But as long as you're still alive here, you have the choice between ETERNAL LIFE or ETERNAL DEATH. The holy Apostle Paul also writes about such a choice in his letter to the Romans. In chapter 6, he writes: "EITHER YOU CHOOSE SIN; THEN YOU WILL DIE, OR YOU CHOOSE OBEDIENCE; THEN YOU WILL BE ABLE TO STAND BEFORE THE JUDGMENT OF GOD." There's no need to choose sin, because according to the Bible, everyone is a sinner. The holy Apostle Paul doesn't leave his readers in any doubt about this either: "FOR THERE IS NO ONE WHO DOES GOOD, NOT ONE," Romans 3:12. Now some of you might say: "I'VE NEVER STOLEN ANYTHING, I'VE NEVER KILLED ANYONE, I PEACEFULLY EAT MY BURGER HERE AT HERMSBURGER." You're completely wrong. Just one evil thought is enough to be accused in God's judgment. You can read about this in the Sermon on the Mount in the holy Gospel according to St. Matthew 4-7. There the LORD explains to his listeners that anger alone is equated with the 5th Commandment, "Thou shalt not kill" – and, hand on heart, who among you has ever been terribly angry with another person? You see, no one is so perfect in God's eyes that they could just walk straight into heaven. To get there, you have only ONE choice: to accept SAVING FAITH in the LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS ​​CHRIST. The SAVIOR points this out in the Gospel according to St. John: I AM THE RESURRECTION AND THE LIFE. WHOEVER BELIEVES IN ME WILL LIVE, EVEN IF HE DIES. And whoever lives and believes in me will never die," John 11:25. The Lord is even clearer in the Gospel of St. Mark in his missionary command to the disciples: "Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be damned," Mark 16:16. You see, there's no choice like on a menu. It's either eternal life or eternal death. So choose the first, and you won't have to choose anymore, because you'll be perfectly happy there. I used to really enjoy ordering from Glückspilz Herford, especially after the reopening, the food was always delicious and beautifully prepared. Unfortunately, the quality has declined somewhat - the food still tastes good, but the preparation and presentation are no longer as appealing as they used to be. Still a solid restaurant with good food!

We got a table for 4 people at short notice for New Year's Eve and had a lovely meal. Map was slimmed down, but leaves you wanting more. If you like eating steak, this is the place to eat (good) 👍🏻

Very small portions and then even more fries than meat in the kebab boxes and the kebab plate. That doesn't work at all! Not good in taste either. Unfortunately it was the first and last time I ordered there!

The food was delicious and would be recommended for a great price, although some of the food was forgotten 😅but it was delivered straight away, the delivery people were also very friendly, everything was great 👍👍

What a taste experience! The “Old School” is definitely worth a visit! Excellent cuisine with fresh ingredients and special compositions. There is also a very good selection of wines at very solid prices. We'd love to come back any time!
