Unfortunately, I can't understand the predominantly positive reviews here. The pizza itself was below average on my two visits: The tomato sauce didn't taste fresh and was significantly too sour (often a sign of a ready-made sauce), the dough was tasteless, and the pizza Regina tasted primarily of oregano – always a sign to me that the pizza chef doesn't really understand their craft and/or uses inferior ingredients whose flavor is meant to be masked. An original pizza prosciutto e funghi traditionally comes without oregano – and doesn't need it. Incidentally, oregano was not and still is not on the menu – otherwise, you could opt out. Overall, disappointing and not recommended. If you're looking for a good, authentic pizza in Traunstein, you won't find it here.
Another negative thing I noticed: I've never experienced a pizzeria where it's so difficult to order a takeaway pizza. One day, they told me that (in an empty restaurant, mind you) the sheer volume of orders meant they couldn't even prepare a takeaway pizza. When I called around 10:30 a.m. another day to avoid the same fate, the first response to my question about whether it would be possible to order a pizza for lunch was, "That depends on how many pizzas you want to order." As a customer, you don't really feel valued here and are discouraged from calling again. Although, considering the quality of the pizza, that's not so bad.
The food here was simply superb. The taste was impeccable. Every dish was perfectly balanced and a true culinary delight. In addition to the standard drinks, they also offer combinations you've likely never encountered before.
A wonderful start to our Allgäu vacation
Our first day of vacation in the Allgäu could hardly have started better. We spontaneously stopped by for dinner with our family – two adults and two children – and got a table right away, even without a reservation. The welcome was warm, and the service throughout the evening was exceptionally friendly and attentive.
The menu offers a great selection of typical regional dishes – exactly what you'd expect in the Allgäu. The appetizers and drinks arrived quickly, and we didn't have to wait long for the main courses either. We had liver dumpling soup, various schnitzel variations, fried Leberkäse (meatloaf), and spinach and cheese spaetzle – everything was freshly prepared, beautifully presented, and truly delicious.
The cozy atmosphere and attentive service rounded off the experience perfectly. A small note: During our visit, only cash payments were accepted – although this isn't something you're used to these days, it shouldn't be an obstacle to a visit.
In conclusion: An authentic inn with heart, regional cuisine, and genuine hospitality. We can wholeheartedly recommend the restaurant and would love to return on our next Allgäu vacation!
Highly recommended! The fillet was outstanding; I've rarely eaten such a delicious fillet. The roasted duck breast appetizer was also superb!
We will definitely recommend it.
