We only had a cappuccino and a smoothie, but I still rated the food 5 stars because everything they brought out looked great. Unfortunately, I didn't take a picture. Everything was very nice, the location was fantastic.

The location on the Vils is great, but the waiter was incompetent. First, we waited forever for him to come and take our order. When we got our drinks, he walked back to the table and threw empty glasses down. We were sitting in broken pieces... it happens... but he was incompetent to clean them up properly, especially since they were lying on the bike path. My good-natured wife helped with the cleaning. Afterwards, we wanted to order a second drink, but they were ignored because the waiter was overwhelmed with two other tables. We didn't get the bill to our table either, so we went in to pay. The guy (Sat 9/8 around 2 p.m., tables facing the boathouse) was incompetent personified. Never going there again.

It was full inside, so the patio heater was set up outside for us, and blankets were already provided. We had to wait a bit because it was busy, but it was worth it.

The outdoor seating is well-arranged and inviting, but the culinary experience did not fully meet our expectations. Although the restaurant focuses on vegetarian and vegan cuisine, which suggests bold and exciting flavors, not all dishes lived up to this promise. The eggplant tartare, while nicely presented, was rather bland. The salads were generous in size but not particularly memorable. The seasonal soup was the highlight – tasty and well-seasoned – while the currywurst was nothing special. The biggest disappointment, however, was the service. We waited for our food for over an hour because the waitress forgot to pass our order to the kitchen, and there was no apology or explanation afterwards. Overall, Das Notstain is worth visiting for its beautiful location and concept, but the flavors and service need more attention to truly impress.

We spontaneously got a table for the two of us. The beer was delicious, and so were the smoothies. After ordering with the super friendly waitress, we only had to wait 10 minutes before we could start fighting our hunger! The salad far exceeded our expectations, and the vegan selection was also very satisfying. We'd love to come back :))

Unfortunately the service took forever. It took a long time for us to get drinks, and we waited a whole hour for the food to arrive, and it wasnt that good either.

Absolutely top recommendation. During our two-day stay in Amberg, we honestly went here twice for dinner and once for lunch. The menu is amazing, and the service staff is incredibly friendly and attentive—we've rarely experienced anything so good anywhere else. If we're ever in the area again, we'll definitely visit Notstain again 👍

Unfortunately, the service was poor; we waited a long time for the menu to even arrive, and drinks took forever. If we hadn't gone inside to pay, we would have waited forever there too. It's a shame, the ambiance is very nice!

The currywurst is extremely expensive at €13.50. You can find much cheaper options in a very nice atmosphere in Amberg. For example, Schießl Wirtshaus, with its pleasant courtyard atmosphere, costs €8.90.

I've eaten there a few times now. Except for the last time, there wasn't much to complain about. The only thing that's unacceptable is that on Father's Day, with a reservation, four people had to wait 1.5 hours for our food in an empty restaurant without an apology or anything else. The fact that the vegan currywurst is a carrot is also a bit ridiculous.

😪Bei meinem letzten Besuch war ich sehr enttäuscht vom Service des Restaurants. Die Mitarbeiter wirkten sehr langsam und desinteressiert. Einige Kunden mussten bis zu 30 Minuten warten, ohne dass auch nur ein Mitarbeiter kam, um sie zu begrüßen oder nach ihren Wünschen zu fragen. Das zeigt deutlich, dass es an einem effektiven Management und an Organisation fehlt. Außerdem hatte man das Gefühl, dass sich niemand wirklich um die ankommenden Gäste kümmerte – sie wurden schlicht ignoriert. Es gab keinerlei Struktur bei der Bedienung, was bei einem öffentlich zugänglichen Restaurant absolut unangemessen ist. Ich hoffe, dass dieses Feedback ernst genommen wird und sich der Service in Zukunft verbessert.

Had breakfast there on Mother's Day: Despite reservations, we unfortunately had to wait 1:15 hours for the food... The food itself was very tasty :) When I asked for horseradish with my salmon, one of the waitresses told me that unfortunately they didn't have any. Because I couldn't believe it, I asked another waitress again, who told me that they did have horseradish. LOL

Noteworthy: They have more vegan/vegetarian options than other restaurants. 👍 Food: We ordered vegetarian options, it was fresh and delicious. Excellent quality !! 👌 Atmosphere: We preferred to sit outside in sunny weather. Next to Vils is always so calm and relaxing. However only two people may sit there. Three chairs are not allowed there. 🙂 Service: Staffs are nice and friendly. But service was slow, although there were not much people in the restaurant, still it was taking much longer to get drinks and food.

Protein-rich iced tea, thanks to lice on the mint. Iced tea with 10,000 little animals was replaced, but the disgust factor remained.

The location is fantastic – with a view of the canal and the charming old town buildings. When the weather is nice, you can relax wonderfully on the modern terrace. The food was absolutely top: The truffle linguini with parmesan was perfectly seasoned - creamy, aromatic and wonderfully al dente. A real highlight for truffle lovers! The salad with crispy chicken and fresh strawberries was equally convincing - a fresh, creative combination with a delicious dressing. The service was very friendly, attentive and at the same time pleasantly reserved. All in all, a clear recommendation for anyone looking for good food and a relaxed atmosphere. We'll definitely be back!

We were there and only drank a shandy. But the service was very nice and quick. And the ambience was very nice by the river. The toilets were also clean. We will definitely come again and try the food.

A few weeks ago I was here with my daughter but unfortunately I can't rate the food and drink at all because we didn't get ANYTHING. I don't know what problem this waitress had with us but she just didn't want to serve us. After half an hour she finally came to our table and gave us the drinks or menu without greeting us and without a friendly smile. After another half hour passed, I had to give her a hand signal that we wanted to order. She reluctantly took the order. And then she was gone. And then she stopped coming. She served four tables that came after us. These people got their drinks and some of them had already been drunk and we still didn't get our order. She also looked at us really provocatively. So she definitely hasn't forgotten us. That was too stupid for us and we just left. I don't know what problem she had with us. Unfortunately we had the feeling that we were not welcome here. It will be the first and last time we were here.

I was here for the first time shortly after it opened. Back then, I had a kind of bulgur bowl that's no longer on the menu, but it really wasn't good. I wanted to give it another chance, but this time, too, I was disappointed. The vegan gnocchi weren't seasoned at all, and the texture was completely odd. My companion had the Caesar salad, which was truly outrageous (just a mini romaine lettuce with dressing, and the anchovies on top instead of in the dressing). The currywurst and Thai curry must have been okay, though. The prices are also clearly too high for what you get there. The service wasn't particularly friendly either. Regarding the dishes, I can only speak for the things we had. I had really high expectations, which were unfortunately disappointed the second time around. What a shame :(

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ALL STARS! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We decided at short notice to celebrate a 60th birthday with a small dinner for four people. The online reservation was straightforward, and I indicated the milestone birthday in the "Other Comments" field. FOOD The food was somewhere between EXCELLENT and HEAVENLY! The starter with toasted white bread and herb butter was deliciously fresh and aromatic. The main courses – all four served simultaneously – were a visual feast. The linguine with truffle: a dream! The cordon bleu (choice of pork or veal!) and the burger were fresh and excellently prepared. Even simple dishes like baked cauliflower became a true feast thanks to the high quality of the ingredients and the delicious vegetable side dishes. A delight! AMBIENCE The layout of the restaurant is a success. The lower level is more reminiscent of a bar, while the kitchen and restaurant are located upstairs. The entire building combines a historic, rustic ambiance with modern, stylish furnishings. Solid wooden tables and comfortable, upholstered chairs invite you to linger. The thoughtful decor and, above all, the generous amount of space make the restaurant both aesthetically pleasing and cozy. Our table in the adjoining room was decorated in a particularly festive, almost picturesque way! It's understandable that a historic building can't be wheelchair accessible everywhere – but everything on the ground floor seemed easily accessible. (Now, in mid-March, we couldn't sit outside in the evening, so no information on that.) SERVICE AND CLEANLINESS Our waitress obviously had a lot to handle that evening – and she mastered it with admirable thoughtfulness and great friendliness. Everything was perfectly prepared for us, and we received extremely warm service. Despite the freshly prepared food, the time between the starter and the main course didn't take long. (By the way, I always find it worth mentioning when the restrooms are clean – and that was fortunately the case here!) COFFEE QUALITY Even though Notstain isn't a café, the coffee deserves a special mention: The cappuccino was truly delicious! As an "old coffee aunt," I'll be back for that reason alone. VALUE FOR MONEY Just one word: TOP! ➡️ CONCLUSION I really hope Notstain maintains THIS quality! I wish the entire team continued success – and many satisfied guests.

Unfortunately I can't say anything about the food, we had made a reservation for breakfast for 6 people today. Unfortunately we had to leave again because dogs weren't allowed in upstairs and there was no room for them downstairs. Sorry, so many people take their dogs with them these days, so why am I making a floor that is off-limits to dogs? I do not understand. The six of us should then sit at the counter. Great, you can have a great conversation there. Then they left again. We were there last time. Not animal friendly for me. We've never had anything like that before where we had to leave because of our little dog.

In the summer, it's great to sit outside by the Vils River; unfortunately, in the winter it's not so pleasant. The food is relatively expensive, but relatively good.

Beautifully situated on the Vils River in the heart of Amberg. The Kurfürsten Bad parking lot is just a short distance away. We received a very friendly welcome, and the online reservation worked perfectly, even at short notice the day before. Unfortunately, there was a larger event taking place in one of the upstairs rooms, so the two of us sat very close together and less intimately, with a distance from neighboring tables, and it was less possible to have a free conversation. This could perhaps be improved. The service was very friendly. Later in the evening, a server could have come back to the table and asked if everything was okay. Unfortunately, the hot drinks were also out of sugar, and it was impossible to get past the table afterward, so it took longer to reorder it than it took us to consume it. We got up and went downstairs to pay for the bill. Both dishes we chose were very, very tasty!!! The second visit was impeccable and very friendly! They also checked at the table just the right amount of time to check if everything was okay. This time I ordered the Camembert with nuts – very, very good and beautifully presented. The only thing I'd like to improve is that it was a bit too sweet. The syrup and candied nuts were a bit too much. The menu only listed "caramelized nuts." Otherwise, a great dish! This time, we sat with another couple at a large table, but the middle section remained empty.

A charming and sophisticated cafe and restaurant with a lovely bar and a prime location on the river in the city center. The young and exceptional service is fantastic, including original coffee mugs instead of cups!

Despite reservation, turned away for no reason! Instead of our regular steakhouse, we chose Notstain because of the food preferences of our friends who had traveled from Munich and made a reservation for four of us on a Saturday evening at 8 p.m. At lunchtime we were reminded of our table by email and asked to let us know if we changed our plans. When we got there on time, the only information we received was that the table was not free because the guests from the first slot were still sitting there. When we asked that it wouldn't be a problem for us to sit at the bar first when the other guests might need another half hour, the unmotivated person at the bar went to their table to ask - only to come back with the answer that they had now ordered something new and the table would definitely no longer be free. So we were left standing - no apology, nothing. Sorry, never again - anyone who plays poker unreliably with 2 reservation slots and is only interested in the turnover, no matter who is sitting at the table, has nothing to do with hospitality. A no-show fee should also be discussed for such situations. We then contacted our regular steakhouse, which spontaneously organized a nice place after a maximum of 10 minutes of waiting, even though it was actually reserved.

The restaurant is beautifully decorated, and the atmosphere is very pleasant, with soft, relaxing music and lovely lighting. It was just a bit chilly, so we were freezing. The food is high-quality and lovingly prepared. The portions were more than sufficient, so we were all full. I find the selection of hot drinks very varied and creative. With so many appealing breakfasts, I had a hard time deciding which one to choose. Breakfast took a while to arrive, about 45 minutes, but that was still acceptable. We will definitely be back. We came to the restaurant the first time on a recommendation.

I was really looking forward to eating there. However, we were disappointed. The first problem was that two dishes had been forgotten at our table. Apparently they aren't used to larger groups there. The dish with fried cauliflower and salad was manageable... And the only salad they offered was red cabbage salad, and you had to chew it for half an hour. The hummus was okay, but far too little. 15 euros for that is too much. This should be a starter. The curry was actually quite good, but the vegetables were barely chopped, if at all. My husband had a whole, peeled carrot on his plate. The falfel with salad couldn't really be called a main course either, given the quantity.

My partner and I went to Notstain for dinner for the first time in mid-November using the Schlemmer voucher book. We both treated ourselves to the Serf & Turf dish with a buttery medium-rare beef steak and king prawns with delicious fried potatoes and a surprising herb butter candle. The dish was well worth the money at €34 and was incredibly delicious! We were also impressed by the fresh side salad, and the starter of goat's cheese with special plums was also a new experience. The evening was a great success, and we'd love to come back! The only downside for me was that the toilet seat in the women's restroom was very loose, the lighting was too dim, and I didn't feel comfortable because I couldn't judge the level of cleanliness in the dim light. Of course, I passed this information on to the waitress. I can highly recommend this restaurant and its cuisine if you want and can afford to treat yourself!

I think Notstain is a really great place. The tables, the dishes, the service, everything was great! The food is always delicious. It often reads normally on the menu, but is then served in an exciting and creative way.

I love Notstain 😍 I've been here regularly since it opened, whether for coffee (tip: pistachio latte with extra espresso ☕️) or for dinner. Whether it's breakfast, lunch, or dinner - it's always been delicious. The avocado bread is my all-time favorite for breakfast. (Tip: with extra salmon) 🥑 We've even been there once for a very successful baby (shower) brunch in the beautiful, separate room upstairs. Today's tapas evening was the absolute highlight and topped all previous experiences 🇪🇸 - it's so great that Daniel and his team always come up with something new. Speaking of the team: everyone has been absolutely accommodating, caring, and helpful. Keep it up! 👏🏾

Little insider tip in the city center. The service was very friendly, the atmosphere invites you to linger. The food was very nicely prepared and tasted absolutely good. The portions were sufficient and the price was completely reasonable for this good quality. I can highly recommend the restaurant.

A really wonderful place. We were there for breakfast and sat on the 1st floor. Great facility, nice service. Great coffee selection. I had a pumpkin spice latte and would have liked to try the pistachio latte, but unfortunately it was out. Food very nicely prepared. Not exactly cheap in terms of price. I can recommend it.

Very tasty food and super friendly staff. The dishes not only taste good but are also served in a visually appealing way. The cordon bleu surprised me a bit at first and reminded me more of a roulade, but it tasted excellent. Extra praise for this creative idea. The “French fries” are not run-of-the-mill potato sticks, but rather something of our own that really looks good. A small drawback is the sizes of the non-alcoholic drinks. They are only available in 0.2ml or 3.3ml, which is also reflected in the price.

Insider tip in Amberg's old town, right on the river. The breakfast menu is particularly creative! The food tastes excellent and is prepared with great attention to detail. You can also have lunch and dinner there very well. The staff is super friendly and committed. We have become big fans! Reservations are highly recommended on weekends.

We went to the restaurant with a toddler and a baby because it kept appearing in the searches as child friendly. They do have a changing table, but that’s about it. No kid’s menu, even though they did make pasta with butter for our 2 year old. The food was great, service, as almost everywhere in Bavaria, slow, but polite. The location is very nice, sitting by the river. Overall I recommend this place for singles, couples or maybe a family with a baby.

The caramelized goat cheese was pure heaven. I also loved the chips and tartar sauce from my fish and chips. The fish was also good but could have used a little more spice.

Beautifully located on the river bank. The service was very nice and attentive. The prices for breakfast seem high at first. But when you look at the high quality and the quantity, this is put into perspective again. My husband had hearty pancakes and I had the bowl. Both tasted extremely good and we were so full that we didn't need lunch anymore. This means that the price of 40 euros for the taste experience is justified again. We would definitely like to come back!

Durch Zufall hier gestrandet, die Servicemitarbeiterin war super freundlich und hat ein wirklich gutes Fachwissen und ein ganz besonders Lächeln. Wir saßen wunderschön im freien,aus der Nähe hörte man leise Livemusik. Essen war toll, tolle Auswahl und wirklich sehr schmackhaft. Unfortunately, the delicious breakfast is only available until 11:30 a.m. This is a far cry from big city offerings. Too bad!! Last year coffee was included in the breakfast price. That was a good idea and an advantage over the competition. Too bad!!!

Nice restaurant right on the river with outdoor seating, an indoor area with high chairs on the ground floor and a second one on the 1st floor, where dogs are not allowed because of the new wooden floor. Because there was a public viewing outside that evening, we had the entire place on the ground floor to ourselves. the service was very friendly, attentive and accommodating. The food was a dream, we had the salad bowl as a starter and the red Thai curry 1x with crispy chicken and 1x vegetarian as the main course. The vegetables were perfect, for once not as hard and almost raw as is unfortunately often the case. thank you for the nice evening!

I recently visited Das Nostain and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the coffee offered. As a coffee enthusiast, I have high standards, and I must say, Das Nostain exceeded my expectations.

The Notstain in the heart of Amberg is definitely recommended. We had a table inside and found it very cozy and inviting. The service was very friendly and we were able to enjoy our dinner quickly. There is also plenty of seating outside, which is really nice in summer. We had pasta with salmon and a falafel bowl. Both were really very good. The noodles could have just used a little more spiciness. The ingredients of the bowl were fresh, the hummus and dressing were very tasty! That's how it has to be. For dessert we decided on a vanilla parfait which was really very good. In general there is a nice selection of food, there is something for everyone.
