We were there for the first time today, and we were thrilled and will definitely be back. The schnitzel was amazing and, in my opinion, the best you can get in Kreuzau. We'll be back!

We waited half an hour, still hadn't been helped, although others who came after us were. We raised our hands several times, but nothing happened. The old woman was busy with a "known" customer, and the young man preferred to look right through us rather than ask if we wanted a drink. It was an unsociable place, so we got up and left, never again.

We were there at the beginning of September 2025, looking for a place where you could feel comfortable and eat well. We stumbled upon the "Mahl & Werk" restaurant in Obermaubach quite by chance. After struggling to find the entrance, because the restaurant looks completely inconspicuous from the outside, attracts attention without garish advertising, and after opening the gate, you feel like you're entering private property... ... we ended up in a restaurant with style, flair, and charm. Everything there is decorated with great attention to detail. On our first visit there, we sat on the outdoor terrace, which exudes incredible tranquility and elegance. We hadn't expected all of this - but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the excellent food. The service from Katja, the owner, was perfect - warm, friendly, personal, and very accommodating. As we're over 60, we now place great value on this, in addition to good food, following the motto "There's nothing better in life than meeting nice people." Our little dog was also very welcome there. Many thanks to Katja (Mrs. Lauterbach, the manager) and the team at "Mahl & Werk." This was definitely not our last visit there, even though the journey there takes us about an hour. For those arriving by car: The space in front of the restaurant entrance is very narrow, and parking is almost impossible. However, if you turn into the small alleyway called Heidbüchel from Seestraße, you'll find a parking lot for restaurant guests on your left. From there, it's less than 100 meters to this wonderful restaurant with its extraordinary charm. We're talking about a restaurant that doesn't represent typical German cuisine, but rather a small "gourmet temple" in a place where you wouldn't expect something like that, with the corresponding price level. For what was offered, the prices for the dishes, which were prepared with great attention to detail and tasted exceptionally good, were perfectly acceptable for us. If you're not familiar with the restaurant, you should check out the website beforehand – it's really beautifully designed, and you can see the attention to detail and, above all, the commitment to sustainability. Truly great. I highly recommend stopping by. We'll definitely do it again . . . . . . but make sure you reserve a table in advance. This restaurant will no longer be an insider tip for insiders, but a restaurant where you probably won't get a free table if you stop by spontaneously without a reservation. On our first visit, we sat on the outdoor terrace – on our next visit there in the fall or winter, that probably won't be possible. But what we saw on the restaurant's website about the charm, style, and flair of the interior was more than convincing. It's great that there's such a great restaurant in the Eifel region—we don't know of any better in the area.
