Wir hatten ein wunderbares Mittagessen. Gastfreundschaft und Speisen/Getränke waren erstklassig.

Was für ein wundervolles Erlebnis! Vom ersten Moment unserer Ankunft an wurden wir unglaublich herzlich und gastfreundlich empfangen. Die Inhaber waren außergewöhnlich freundlich und wir fühlten uns sofort wie zu Hause. Das Essen war absolut köstlich, und was uns am meisten beeindruckte, war die Flexibilität und Aufmerksamkeit, die sie uns entgegenbrachten. Obwohl wir eine Gruppe von zehn Personen waren, passten sie die Speisekarte gerne an, sodass wir verschiedene Vorspeisen und Hauptgerichte teilen und probieren konnten. Dieser Service ist alles andere als selbstverständlich und wurde von allen am Tisch sehr geschätzt. Nach dem Essen hatten wir das Vergnügen, uns mit den Inhabern zu unterhalten. Es war sofort spürbar, dass sie dieses Restaurant mit echter Leidenschaft, Hingabe und Herzblut führen. Ihre Liebe zu dem, was sie tun, spiegelt sich in jedem Aspekt des Erlebnisses wider und schafft eine ganz besondere Atmosphäre. Vielen Dank für einen fantastischen Nachmittag. Wunderbarer 45. Geburtstag – Kulinarik mit Herz und Verstand! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Wir haben am 20.05. meinen 45. Geburtstag im Mahl und Werk gefeiert und waren – wie eigentlich immer – absolut begeistert. Speisenauswahl, das tolle Ambiente und der aufmerksame Service haben den Abend perfekt gemacht. Kulinarisch wird hier wirklich auf extrem hohem Niveau gekocht. Das zeigte sich schon bei der Vorspeise: Eine dekonstruierte Tintenfisch-Carbonara, bei der Tintenfischstreifen die Pasta ersetzten, kombiniert mit cremiger Sauce, knusprigem Speck und geriebenem, getrocknetem Eigelb. Eine fantastische Idee! Der Hauptgang stand dem in nichts nach: Ein perfekt auf den Punkt gegarter Steinbeißer auf einer wunderbar cremigen Polenta, serviert mit einer feinen, gefüllten Zucchiniblüte. Toll abgestimmt, auch mit den kleinen Knusper-Elementen als Textur-Kontrast. Den krönenden Abschluss machte die Mousse au Chocolat mit Mandarineneis. Die Mousse war richtig schön tief schokoladig und fein, ohne bitter zu sein – perfekt balanciert durch die Fruchtigkeit des Eises. Hier bekommt man glücklicherweise keine abgehobenen Miniatur-Kreationen, aber eben auch keine überladenen Riesenportionen. Es ist geschmacklich in sich absolut stimmig. Super Essen! Während des Abends hatten wir auch ein sehr nettes Gespräch mit den Besitzern über das Thema Michelin-Sterne. Ich habe ganz ehrlich gesagt: Ich bin froh, dass ihr keinen habt! Ein Stern bringt oft nur unnötigen Stress, Hype und ein ganz anderes Publikum mit sich. Wer so eine kulinarische Idee auf den Teller bringt, braucht kein Siegel – die Mundpropaganda begeisterter Gäste ist das Beste, was man haben kann. Das Mahl und Werk ist ein absolutes Juwel. Wir kommen immer wieder gerne!

Ein ganz hervorragendes Restaurant! Ein absoluter Geheimtipp und ein Muss für jeden Genussmenschen. Wer dieses Restaurant gefunden hat, kann sich glücklich schätzen! Das Essen ist ganz hervorragend und der Service grandios. Dabei ist es nicht abgehoben, sondern überzeugt durch eine super angenehme Atmosphäre und ein super sympathisches Team! Es gibt eine wechselnde Karte, die sich durch eine Mischung aus Bekannten Zutaten und aussergewöhnlichen Highlights auszeichnet. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder!

Ist definitiv passend für Leute mit viel Zeit :) Wir wollten mit der Familie einen schönen Mai Abend verbringen. Um 18:15 haben wir uns an den Tisch gesetzt und ziemlich flott war das Essen auch schon da. Punkt um 20:55. Ich nehme mal an, das Personal hat die Tiere für unsere Gerichte eigenhändig im Eifelwald gejagt, damit wir möglichst frisches Fleisch bekommen.Und währenddessen konnten wir den geschmackvollen Interieur des Restaurants bestaunen. Bis ins jedes kleines Detail. Wirklich. Langsam fühlt man sich da auch wie zuhause. Besonders schön fanden wir die Griffe der Buttermesser in form einer Schnecke und einer Schildkröte. Wenn wir nur wüssten, dass dieses Detail so symbolisch sein wird... Dank dieser Wartezeit ist uns das Essen allerdings natürlich auch viel leckerer vorgekommen und wir haben es alles in 5 Minuten verspeist. Und dank dieser geschickten Strategie des Restaurants konnten wir später die Schönheit des Eifels nach dem Sonnenuntergang genießen. Wäre das Essen schneller da, hätten wir diese schöne Natur des Abends vermutlich nicht gesehen. Herzlichen Dank für diese Möglichkeit!

Wir hatten einen absolut wunderbaren Abend im Restaurant Mahl und Werk Obermaubach! Schon beim Betreten spürt man mit wie viel Liebe zum Detail dieses Restaurant geführt wird. Das Ambiente ist stilvoll, gemütlich und gleichzeitig etwas ganz Besonderes – perfekt für einen entspannten Abend in der Eifel. Das Essen war auf höchstem Niveau: kreativ angerichtet, unglaublich aromatisch und mit frischen, hochwertigen Zutaten zubereitet. Jeder Gang war ein echtes Geschmackserlebnis. Besonders beeindruckt hat uns die Kombination aus regionaler Küche und moderner Raffinesse. Auch der Service war herzlich, aufmerksam und professionell, ohne aufdringlich zu wirken. Die Lage in Obermaubach mit der Nähe zum Stausee macht das Erlebnis noch schöner. Wer außergewöhnliches Essen, eine tolle Atmosphäre und echte Gastfreundschaft sucht, ist hier genau richtig. Für uns definitiv eines der besten Restaurants in der Region – wir kommen garantiert wieder!

Einfach nur himmlisch, Speisen, Ambiente, Service 🔝

Wir waren zum ersten Mal in diesem wunderbaren Restaurant und sofort begeistert. Die Einrichtung und der Mix aus einer alten Mühle mit modernen Anteilen überzeugt. Die Begrüßung war sehr freundlich und wir haben uns sofort heimisch gefühlt. Unsere Bedienung war sehr aufmerksam, zuvorkommend und hat uns gut beraten, so dass die Speisen genau unseren Geschmack trafen. Alle Gänge waren frisch zubereitet, gut ausgewogen und schön aufeinander abgestimmt, so dass das Essen ein wahrer Genuss war. Das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis ist mehr als angemessen, hier wird noch echter Service gelebt. Das nette Gespräch mit Katja zum Abschied wird - wie der ganze Abend - gerne in unserer Erinnerung bleiben. Wir werden definitiv wiederkommen und empfehlen dieses fantastische Restaurant gerne weiter.

Ein unverhofftes Juwel, das jetzt aber gespeichert ist. Die Kreationen machen Spaß, sind unerwartet anders, aber nicht verkünstelt. Das eingesetzte Geschirr ist ebenso mutig und abwechslungsreich wie das Essen und die Einrichtung die Tradition ehrt aber nicht verstauben lässt. Eine Freude auf allen Ebenen für die es sich auch schon mal zu warten lohnt… Dabei hilft auch die Auswahl an Weinen…

Zum 1. Mal dort gewesen. Sehr, sehr schönes Lokal, idyllische Lage, sehr geschmackvoll + viel mit Liebe eingerichtet, Essen super , auch der Service !! Ein Rundum-Wohlfühlort und ein Besuch dort wärmstens zu empfehlen !!!! Es war/ist einfach etwas Besonderes !! Und mit Sicherheit werden wir uns das wieder gönnen !! Ein ganz kleiner Kritikpunkt: fühlte mich etwas vom Kochgeruch gestört, der ins Lokal zog. Denke aber, wenn man die Tür zur Küche schließt, ist der Störfaktor kein Thema mehr .

Wir waren gestern zum ersten Mal dort. Das Lokal überzeugt mit einem sehr schönen Ambiente und einer angenehmen, stilvollen Atmosphäre, in der man sich sofort wohlfühlt. Wichtig zu wissen ist: Hier gilt „Gut Ding will Weile haben“. Man sollte sich bewusst Zeit mitbringen, um das Erlebnis in Ruhe genießen zu können – das lohnt sich aber definitiv. Das Essen war durchweg hervorragend. Jeder Gang hatte eine besondere, individuelle Note und wirkte keinesfalls wie „von der Stange“. Zudem war alles sehr kunstvoll und mit viel Liebe zum Detail angerichtet, was das Ganze auch optisch zu einem echten Erlebnis macht. Die Speisekarte zeigt, preislich bewegt sich das Restaurant im höheren Segment, aber aus meiner Sicht ist es das absolut wert. Obwohl das Preisempfinden ja auch individuell ist. Die Qualität, Kreativität und Präsentation rechtfertigen den Preis vollkommen. Insgesamt kann man hier außergewöhnlich gut essen – ein Ort, der hoffentlich noch viele weitere Gäste ins Kreisgebiet Düren zieht. Besonders hervorheben möchte ich auch den Service: Unsere Bedienung sowie Frau Lauterbach waren sehr freundlich, aufmerksam und höflich, was den Besuch zusätzlich abgerundet hat.

Wir waren Anfang September 2025 dort und suchten nach einer Location, in der man sich wohl fühlen und gut Essen kann und sind eher zufällig auf das Restaurant „Mahl & Werk“ in Obermaubach gestoßen. .Wir sind dort in einem Restaurant mit Stil, Flair und Charme gelandet. Alles dort ist mit viel Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet. Bei unserem Besuch dort saßen wir auf der Außenterrasse, die eine unglaubliche Ruhe und Eleganz ausstrahlt. Das alles hatten wir so nicht erwartet - haben unseren Aufenthalt dort und das hervorragende Essen wirklich sehr genossen. Der Service durch Katja, der Chefin des Hauses, war perfekt - herzlich, nett, persönlich und sehr zuvorkommend. . . . und unser kleines Hundchen war dort auch sehr willkommen. Vielen Dank an Katja (Frau Lauterbach, der Chefin) und an das Team von „Mahl & Werk“ Das war garantiert nicht unser letzter Besuch dort, auch wenn der Weg dorthin für uns ca. 1 h Anfahrt bedeutet. Für alle, die mit dem Auto anreisen. Vor dem Eingang zum Restaurant geht es sehr eng zu und man findet direkt vor dem Restaurant kaum eine Parkmöglichkeit. Aber wenn man von der Seestraße kommend in die kleine Gasse Heidbüchel einbiegt, befindet sich linker Hand gleich ein Parkplatz für Gäste des Restaurants. Von dort aus sind es keine 100 Meter mehr bis zu diesem traumhaften Restaurant mit seinem außergewöhnlichen Charme. Wir sprechen hier über ein Restaurant, welches nicht die übliche deutschen Küche darstellt, sondern über einen GOURMET-Tempel mit dem Anspruch „Fine Dining“ zu bieten an einem Ort, an dem man so etwas nicht erwarten hätte. Für das Gebotene sind die Preise für die Gerichte, die mit viel Liebe zum Detail zugerichtet werden und außergewöhnlich gut schmecken, völlig in Ordnung. Wer das Restaurant nicht kennt, sollte sich vorab auf der Homepage des Restaurants informieren - die ist echt toll gestaltet und wieder erkennt man dort die Liebe zum Detail und vor allem auch den Anspruch auf Nachhaltigkeit. Echt toll. Ich kann nur empfehlen, dort einmal vorbei zu schauen. Wir werden das garantiert wieder tun . . . . . . aber vorab einen Tisch reservieren. Dieses Restaurant wird kein Geheimtipp für Insider bleiben. Bei unserem ersten Besuch saßen wir auf der Außenterrasse. Aber was wir auf der Homepage des Restaurants über den Charme, den Stil und das Flair des Innenbereiches gesehen haben, war mehr als überzeugend. Zu den Gerichten und deren Qualität muss ich hier nichts mehr sagen . . . da wurde auf in den Rezensionen hier auf Google schon genug drüber gesagt. Die Gerichte muss man einfach einmal probiert haben und den Stil, den Flair und den Charme des Hauses bei einem Aufenthalt dort auf sich wirken lassen. Schön, das es solch ein tolles Restaurant in der Eifel gibt - wir kennen in der Gegend dort kein besseres. Und nun, Anfang April 2026, waren wir erneut dort. Diesmal mit 4 Personen. Frau Lauterbach war leider nicht anwesend und konnte uns daher leider nicht empfangen und bedienen. Aber wir wurden von einer bildhübschen Frau, vielleicht Mitte 20, empfangen und hatten die Wahl zwischen zwei Tischen und haben uns dann spontan für einen Tisch im Mühlen-Zimmer entschieden. Das Mühlen-Zimmer ist unglaublich - perfekt restauriert mit dem Ziel, den Charme einer ehemaligen Mühle zu erhalten. Die Gerichte waren wieder hervorragend und die Bedienung durch die junge Frau ebenfalls (. . . das man mit Mitte 20 als Kellnerin schon so perfekt ist, hätte ich nicht erwartet. Aber besonders beeindruckend für mich war, das die junge Frau neben ihrer Professionalität auch eine unglaublich natürliche Ausstrahlung hatte). Wenn man das Restaurant betritt, dann hat man einen direkten Blick in die Küche. Bei meinen jetzt zwei Besuchen dort habe ich in der Küche nur zwei junge Männer gesehen - höchstens 30 Jahre alt. Wenn das die Köche waren, dann kann ich Familie Lauterbach nur zu dem für mich absolut perfekten Team beglückwünschen.

Sehr schönes Ambiente. Das 4-Gänge-Ostermenü ist sehr zu empfehlen. Alles rundum stimmig. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Ich kann nur das bewerten was uns geboten wurde. Uns wurde ein Restaurant geboten was verspielt und charm hatte. Uns wurde ein Tisch geboten der toll war, jedoch hatte er keine tolle Atmosphäre dort. Wir saßen im Flur. Kaum Privatsphäre. Die Chefin war sehr freundlich und höflich. Doch wir warteten recht lange um zu bestellen und sie rannte oft an uns vorbei. Das Essen war lecker. Doch das preis Leistungsverhältnis war nicht gegeben. Schade.

Wir waren gestern zum dritten Mal im Restaurant Mahl und Werk und haben unsere Eltern mitgebracht, weil wir mit ihnen etwas besonderes erleben wollten. Die Gastgeberin hat uns direkt herzlich aber professionell empfangen. Sie ist auf unsere Wünsche aufmerksam und flexibel eingegangen. Eine sehr angenehme Person. Es war wie erwartet ein toller entspannter und leckerer Abend. Hier darf man keine Pommes mit Schnitzel erwarten. Dafür eine tolle abwechslungsreiche Karte die jedesmal neue Köstlichkeiten anbietet und man am liebsten alles probieren möchte. Hier zu Speisen ist mit Augen, Ohren und Gaumen ein Erlebnis. Einfach mal raus aus dem stressigen Alltag und genießen. Vielen Dank dafür. Wir kommen gerne wieder und freuen uns bei schönem Wetter den traumhaften Garten zu erkunden.

Das Mahl und Werk ist ein sehr gemütliches Restaurant mit teilweise originalgetreuen Überbleibsel der ursprünglichen Mühle, wie z.B. das Mahlwerk. Das Menü war von vorne bis hinten sehr lecker und passte einfach zusammen. Besonders hervorzuheben ist die Servicekraft, welche sehr umsichtig, freundlich und zuvorkommend war. Es war ein rundum hervorragendes Gesamterlebnis. Wir haben spontan am selben Tag noch einen Platz reservieren können und das hat sich sehr gelohnt. Das Essen war ein Traum und die Atmosphäre in der Mühle ist einmalig schön gewesen. Ein toller Abschluss nach einem schönen Tag in der Umgebung. Ein vegetarisches Menü war problemlos möglich und konnte selbst zusammengestellt werden. Lieber seltener ein qualitativ so hochwertiges Essen zu einem angemessenem Preis als nur auf Quantität zu achten. Vielen Dank nochmal, es war wirklich unglaublich schön und für uns ein Erlebnis Abend!

A very nice restaurant with excellent service. The food was superb, from the appetizer to the dessert. There was absolutely nothing to complain about. What's also really nice is how relaxed everything is.

This was our first time at Mahl & Werk, and we were absolutely thrilled. The welcome was incredibly friendly and warm. The decor is stylish, cozy, and inviting – you immediately feel at home. The food was simply excellent. I had roast goose with red cabbage and dumplings – the best roast goose I've ever eaten. The appetizer and dessert were also unbelievably delicious, perfectly seasoned, and superbly spiced. You can tell with every course that the food is prepared with great care and skill. The service was attentive, quick, and consistently friendly. We felt very comfortable all evening and will definitely be back. A highly recommended experience! Thank you for a wonderful evening! 😊

Last Friday was our first time eating at Mahl und Werk. We were shown to our table, quickly received a bottle of water, and then didn't see a server at our table for 45 minutes. I went down to the counter to get their attention again and politely asked for the menu. Instead of an apology for the long wait, I received an annoyed eye roll from the waitress. Ten minutes later, we were just about to leave when the waiter finally came to us. Based on this initial experience, we asked if we should expect long waits, as we had only ordered a main course instead of a set menu. The waiter explained that set menus were given priority. A misconception, as it turned out. We waited an hour for each course! We could have saved ourselves the wine pairing, as we received the same wine for each course, despite ordering different dishes. While serving dessert, the waiter dropped the dessert spoon on the floor. Instead of getting a new one, my husband picked it up. Completely unacceptable! In the end, I asked the waiter if the long wait was typical for the restaurant. He denied it and offered an espresso as compensation, which we politely declined. After four hours, we were simply relieved to leave. The only redeeming feature of the evening was the food, which was truly delicious. We regularly dine at fine dining establishments and have never experienced anything like this. Delays can happen, of course. That's perfectly fine. We deliberately set aside time for our meals. But instead of acknowledging the lack of capacity and apologizing, we were made to feel like our requests were a nuisance. The waiter was visibly overwhelmed, but at least he was friendly.

We dined at Mahl & Werk last night and were absolutely delighted. The Wagyu carpaccio alone was a highlight – perfectly balanced, incredibly aromatic, and simply fantastic. The main course was also superbly prepared and tasted absolutely perfect. A special thank you to the owner, who made us feel instantly welcome with her warm and friendly manner. The service was also top-notch: always at our table at the right time, attentive but never intrusive – exactly what you want. A truly wonderful experience – we will definitely be back! 😊😊

Last night, six of us dined at Mahl und Werk. The ambiance of the old mill is truly lovely. The restaurant has a good reputation. However, there were a few minor issues. For example, there was no sparkling water, only still. The water wasn't served in its original bottles and wasn't opened at the table. Four of our companions wanted to order goose leg. About two and a half hours after ordering, we were informed that there were only two legs left. Disappointed, we switched to rump steak. All in all, it dampened our expectations.

I highly recommend this restaurant 🫶🏼 It's a 12/10. -> Whether it's the food, the atmosphere, or the staff, it's all top-notch! Thank you for the wonderful experience; I felt very comfortable. I'll definitely be back as soon as I'm in the area again for business. Best regards

My wife and I were there for the third time on Saturday. The first two visits were very good! Unfortunately, not so much on Saturday! We arrived at 7 pm, were greeted warmly, and shown to our table. We then ordered our main courses, so far so good. Our table neighbors received a complimentary amuse-bouche, but ours was apparently forgotten! A real shame, as we always received one the last few times. The wait was very long; we finally received our main course at 8:30 pm. Other guests who were there also waited just as long and left because it was taking too long. When we then heard that they were out of crème brûlée, we decided against dessert, also because we would have had to wait even longer. Overall, the food was excellent. Unfortunately, the wait was long. The complimentary amuse-bouche was forgotten. The service was very overwhelmed. Given the price, it's a real shame that it didn't work out.

A beautiful, welcoming atmosphere. Every course was a delight – exquisitely balanced, lovingly presented, and absolutely delicious. A place to feel good and be pampered. Highly recommended.

After a walk with the dog by the lake, we just wanted to stop in for a quick bite and a tasty snack. The restaurant looked inviting from the outside, and the menu offered delicious food at a very good price. That turned into almost six hours and a full meal. It was so delicious and so cozy that the time flew by. When we then met the lovely Belgian couple at the next table and chatted about this and that, we even stayed an hour after closing time, until 10:00 p.m. The incredibly warm and friendly owner then very kindly asked us around 11:00 p.m. if she could prepare the bill. When we saw the time, we almost felt guilty for delaying her closing time so long. But she was so sweet that we immediately felt better. The food was fantastic, the drinks were fantastic, and the atmosphere was fantastic. In short: we immediately reserved another table for the end of November and promise to keep a close eye on the clock next time. Also important to mention: we went spontaneously and were therefore dressed rather casually, with two large dogs, and despite the truly elegant ambiance, we felt completely comfortable and not at all out of place. On the contrary, you can come exactly as you are and receive the same excellent service as if you had dressed up. That's a really lovely feeling. So, thank you again for the wonderful evening and your generous hospitality. We're already looking forward to the end of November and another wonderfully cozy evening with you.

A beautiful restaurant in a beautifully renovated old mill. Katja's food is phenomenally delicious, with new, innovative creations made with excellent ingredients every time we visit. The service is attentive, very friendly, and competent. For us, this is the best restaurant in the greater Düren area.

We were delighted with the restaurant's impression. The staff is friendly. Given the menu, which isn't overloaded with dishes and contains enough foreign words for its dishes, we were looking forward to a culinary highlight—especially considering the prices—especially since we had traveled a long way to eat well. The homemade salted butter in chive oil with house bread and the accompaniment (risotto balls with saffron and chicken meatballs) were very tasty and served in a visually appealing manner. The main course, however, was "ordinary." The three prawns offered as a side dish to my pasta, which I had ordered, were simply forgotten by the kitchen, so the dish turned out to be just plain pasta with tomato sauce. The second dish also didn't score highly: veal schnitzel Viennese style, just without fries; however, it was still better value than the pasta. Unfortunately, we won't be coming back.

We've been to Mahl & Werk several times, including tonight, and we're always impressed. It's truly exceptional that such a small town has a fine-dining restaurant of this quality. We particularly like the fact that it's owner-managed, and you can feel their passion in every detail. The service is first-class, warm, and attentive. The dishes are creative, seasonally inspired, and change regularly—every menu is an experience. For us, Mahl & Werk is a true highlight, and we're always happy to return. Highly recommended!

The first impression, when the owner sits smoking at the entrance, doesn't reflect the restaurant's style. However, the outdoor area, designed with real attention to detail, made up for this. However, it took an unusually long time for us to be attended to. Overall, the service was average. The starters were split in two. The tomato variations were our highlight of the evening. It was exceptionally tasty and creatively prepared. We would have expected all the dishes to be of this standard. The beetroot carpacio starter, on the other hand, was almost a disgrace. Absolutely nothing special for a high-priced dish. For my main course, I had the chicken, which was reminiscent of chicken nuggets and was a bit dry in places. The fish was okay. Overall, our expectations were higher based on reviews, recommendations, and price, but these were unfortunately not met. Since we had to travel a long way, we probably won't go there again.

A small bridge leads to idyllic seating under the trees, right next to a babbling brook – a dream come true. Anyone who wants to experience enjoyment, style, and nature in perfect harmony should definitely visit the Mahlundwerk. A place to fall in love with – and definitely not an insider tip for long!

We came here spontaneously at the weekend following a recommendation. The ambience is beautiful and welcoming, the food was so-so, with everything from missing ingredients to cold pasta which, at €30 and without the freshly shaved truffles as stated on the menu, was a bit steep. The service was unfortunately not good at all. The young man was completely overwhelmed after making so many mistakes. From missing napkins to no sugar in the coffee, when we asked for cutlery (which was again missing), it was simply forgotten. And unfortunately the waiting times were far too long... All in all, at this price category, mistakes like this shouldn't happen, I won't be coming back!

Unfortunately, I can't give it five stars. Overall, it was a lovely evening. The Mahlundwerk is beautifully decorated and you feel at home. The food was delicious, especially the appetizer and the welcome from the chef. Unfortunately, we were missing that special something, the icing on the cake. We understand that all the dishes are prepared with high quality, but unfortunately, we had to wait a very long time for the main course (almost 2.5 hours), which was a bit annoying. There were other guests visiting, and the chef herself frequently visited them and asked how they tasted. Unfortunately, she didn't come to us (two people), which gave us the impression that two people aren't worth that much. Overall, it was a lovely evening, and we were able to experience something new.

We visited Mahl und Werk for the first time and were greeted like regulars, warmly and courteously. A very romantic location with an interesting mix of rustic and modern. The food was excellent. The starter was bread with delicious cream and oil, and the final dish was cauliflower foam with Gorgonzola and beef salad, which was very delicate. The same goes for the main course and dessert. All in all, a successful evening with very good food in a relaxed atmosphere. Thank you very much!

The restaurant Mahl und Werk in Obermaubach is an absolute insider tip and a must for connoisseurs! Fantastic location, convincing service, creative food with attention to detail and an ambience that is stylish and warm at the same time. The kitchen is clearly at a star level ⭐️ - finely composed, courageous and perfectly executed. Therefore, the restaurant is rightly and undoubtedly one of the best addresses for eating between Cologne and Aachen!

Five of us and our dog were there today to celebrate two birthdays. We sat outside, had peace and quiet and were able to enjoy the beautiful ambience with the best view of the landscape. The food was a dream from start to finish, the staff and the owner were super friendly and warm and I wrote to my boss during the starter that I would like to hold the Christmas party there. A stay at Mahl und Werk is really a must and definitely won't be our last one there! Thank you so much for our wonderful double birthday. ❤️

The start with the amuse bouche was great, but the main course afterwards was rather disappointingly banal. There was no question about the doneness of the entrecote, which resulted in an overcooked piece of meat. In addition, the main course took far too long of over 1 hour.

Ich reise viel und esse auch in Sterne Restaurants aber ich sehe bis auf das Verspielte bei den Sterneköchen kaum einen Unterschied. Yesterday we were in this restaurant and we were really impressed. The ambience was decorated very lovingly and with style. We were warmly welcomed by the hosts. The food was fantastic. Finally a restaurant in the Düren area where the food is a treat for the palate. The service staff was very attentive and charming. She fulfilled our wishes immediately. We were given a voucher for this beautiful restaurant some time ago and redeemed it today on a dreary, rainy spring day. As soon as we entered the restaurant, our eyes wandered from one place to the other because every corner here is decorated with such warm delicacy that it is truly a delight for the eyes. You can find great art between wonderfully set tables and the overall picture simply invites you to linger. We had prepared ourselves for asparagus and were served home-baked bread with wild garlic butter (that alone was a poem) and a great selection of small snacks as a greeting from the kitchen. Of course, this made me want more. We enjoyed an excellent main course and if we weren't already so full, we would definitely have ordered dessert too. I also have to mention how attentive and unobtrusive we were served by a young lady throughout the evening. This extremely good service alone clearly sets it apart from other restaurants. This is something that rarely happens these days. We thank you for a great evening and will definitely come back. Thank you very much 👍🏻

Anyone who reads the owner's explanation on the website will understand why some service issues might arise, and anyone with even a shred of humanity will fully support these restaurateurs! 2025.01.04_ FOOD: It tasted good, even though some products were different from those offered on the menu. SERVICE: Glasses, plates were left for a very long time. Unused cutlery was left lying around. Drinks knocked over by staff were not replaced. Many drinks were missing from the bill and were subsequently reported by customers. AMBIENCE: OK

On December 25th Last year we reserved a table for seven people in this restaurant. Any intolerances and seating requests were confirmed again via email on the day of the meal. Unfortunately, everything turned out very differently. The food was excellent. Unfortunately the service was limited (Rita was great!!). The boss justified the relocation with economic aspects. Unfortunately quite insensitive. The plate language at our next table was clearly different (probably due to the guests). As a result, the price for this special evening did not meet our expectations. We definitely won't be visiting there again...

The four of us were at Mahlundwerk shortly before Christmas. It was a wonderful evening with a lot of pleasure for the eyes and the palate. The ambience is so cozy and inviting, all rooms are stylishly and lovingly tastefully decorated. The super delicious bread is served with a special dressing, and there was also a special greeting from the kitchen. Starter Surf and Turf...yummi, the prawns were perfectly grilled...and the carpaccio tender and very delicate. There was real veal schnitzel in the main course... there was plenty of meat in a crispy breading... the portions were really more than generous... Katja and her team are very attentive hosts and we will definitely come back, even if we have to drive almost an hour from Cologne. It's definitely worth it. 😊

Wir waren kurz vor Weihnachten zu viert Mahlundwerk. Es war ein wunderbarer Abend mit viel Freude für das Auge und den Gaumen. Das Ambiente ist so gemütlich und einladend, stylisch und liebevoll sind alle Räume geschmackvoll dekoriert. Das super leckere Brot wird mit einem besonderen Dressing serviert, und es gab auch extra einen Gruß aus der Küche. Vorspeise Surf and Turf...yummi, die Garnelen waren perfekt gegrillt...und das Carpaccio zart und sehr delikat. Echtes Kalbsschnitzel gab es im Hauptgang...es gab reichlich Fleisch in einer knusprigen Panade...die Portionen waren wirklich mehr als reichlich.... Katja und ihr Team sind sehr aufmerksame Gastgeber und wir kommen definitiv wieder, auch wenn wir fast 1 Stunde aus Köln fahren müssen. Es lohnt sich definitiv.

The whole evening was a delight.

The two of us ate in the restaurant. It was the first time we were there, the welcome was very warm. From the start, the atmosphere was very familiar without being intrusive. The furnishings are very stylish and yet comfortable. The selection on the menu is rather limited, but everyone should still find something for themselves here. Some of them are classic dishes but also unusual dishes. Everything we ate was prepared with attention to detail and tasted extremely good. I can recommend the restaurant without reservation. I would even say if you appreciate good food, a visit here is a must.

Wir haben hier köstlich gegessen. Die Gerichte waren wunderschön präsentiert und schmeckten ausgezeichnet. Der Küchenchef liefert Juwelen auf den Teller und Geschmacksexplosionen im Mund. Großes Kompliment an die Küche. Das Ambiente des Ortes ist sehr einfach und stilvoll, wobei die Authentizität respektiert wird. Der Service ist freundlich. Manchmal muss man eine Weile auf die bestellten Getränke oder Gerichte warten. Allerdings war die Rechnung völlig falsch. Statt 2 Gläser Wein wurden 2 Flaschen berechnet. Alle Tische um uns herum hatten falsche Rechnungen. Das Verhalten des Herr des Haus passte nicht in ein Nobelrestaurant wie dieses. Zwischen den Gästen musste er immer die Hose hochziehen. In einem Brauhaus wäre das kein Problem, aber hier hat es unseren gelungenen Abend etwas getrübt. Wir kommen gerne wieder. Hoffentlich mit einem stilvolleren Manager.

Wir waren mit der ganzen Familie (9 Personen) da. Die Hauptgerichte waren lecker aber nicht herausragend. Der Gruss aus der Küche versalzen. Leider waren nicht mehr genügend Hauptgerichte da so dass nicht jeder das Essen bekam das er wollte, nur noch Schnitzel waren ausreichend da. Das war schade weil wir den Tisch vorbestellt hatten. Auch dass ein Geburtstagskind dabei war wurde zwar bei der Bestellung aufgenommen aber dann nicht berücksichtigt. Insgesamt war die Wartezeit sehr lang obwohl wir sehr früh da waren und trotz guter Hauptgerichte stimmte das drum herum bei diesem sehr hochpreisigen Restaurant nicht ganz. Da hätten wir uns mehr erwartet, besserer Service, schnellere Versorgung, großzügigere Amuse Geule und vor allem ausreichende Hauptgerichte.

Painfully slow service: we were there for dinner with 2 children (7 and 10). As a precaution, we had previously asked whether it would be okay to come with two children. No problem, they said. We were assigned a very nice table on the terrace. After waiting for a while the drinks were requested. We asked for some bread because the children were hungry. The drinks came, but no bread. We repeated our request for bread. Again a lot of time passed. Then the menu was presented. We asked again about bread and were told that it always comes “according to the menu”. After about an hour the (very good) bread finally arrived. Our request when ordering that the children be served their Wiener Schnitzel at the same time as our starters was ignored. Almost an hour later, both our main courses and the children's schnitzels arrived, which - by the way - were charged at the full price of the adult portion. We spent about 3 hours at our table, with increasing frustration. Although we found our food excellent, we would only recommend the restaurant with reservations. I would definitely not go there with children. Unfortunately, bad timing and lack of flexibility meant that we didn't have the lovely evening we had hoped for. Too bad!

… und obwohl ich einige Tage gewartet habe immer noch „unvergessen“. Ich habe lange gerungen überhaupt eine „Bewertung“ zu schreiben… aber von vorne. Anlässlich unseres 31. Hochzeitstages und der Aufenthalt in der Region haben wir nach einer guten Lokalität gesucht. Das Mahl und Werk war schnell gefunden und konnte noch online gebucht werden. Leider erst ab 20:00 Uhr – aber wird schon gehen. Der Empfang war freundlich und wir wurden auf einer Außenveranda platziert mit der eigenen Wahl zwischen 2 Tischen. Der Service fragte sofort nach Wasser und Aperitif – Vorbildlich-. Kurz nach 20:00 Uhr wurden dann unser Name zweimal durch das Lokal … ich sage mal gerufen (bei uns heißt es :gebölkt). Nach ordnungsgemäßer Meldung folgte aber keine weitere Frage oder Einlassung. Meine Begleitung klärte mich auf, das bei Absagen eine Ausfallgebühr fällig wird. Es war wohl die Kontrolle der Anwesenheit. Leider ging es mit dem guten Service nicht so weiter. Die Weinkarte hat von Ausgabe bis zur Bestellannahme 24 min gedauert. Beim Servieren viel dann auch auf, dass wir keine Gläser hatten. Warum dann der bestellt leichte Rose in einem riesigem Rotweinglas eingeschenkt wurde erschließt sich mir nicht. Leider konnte der Service meine Frage nach der Portionsgröße der Tapas nicht beantworten– es gäbe vorweg auch noch Brot und ein Amuse. Warum das wichtig ist? Nun Preisfrage: … wie groß ist eine Pulled Chicken Praline? So groß wie eine Traube oder Erdbeere oder sogar wie eine Pflaume oder Mandarine? Dies würde die Bestellung sicher beeinflussen… Tata.. Auflösung… bei uns war es irgendwas zwischen Pflaume und Mandarine. Überhaupt wie stellen Sie sich in gutem exklusiven Lokal „Trüffelpommes“ vor. Ich unterstelle mal diese waren „Handmade“, man hat nur Sorte und Schnittbreite von Herrn McCain benutzt um den Gast nicht zu überfordern. Hier hätte ich mir mehr Abstand zur Industrie aber durchaus gewünscht. Das reisen auch keine Raspel von Sommertrüffel raus. Auch schade das ein tolles Produkt wie die Gambas durch die Folter der Fritteuse musste. Überhaupt habe ich mich über die Vielzahl der frittierten Tapas gewundert. Schön wäre hier auch eine frische Abwechslung gewesen. O.k. nun muss ich aber zum Ende kommen… man hatte vergessen Teller für das Essen bereitzustellen, nach dem Wein gab es keinen weiteren Service (außer Essen), die Bestellung kam in 2 Schritten. Erst alles was meine Begleitung geordert hatte – ca.30 min später meine Bestellung und ihr Rest. Der Service konnte uns die Gerichte nicht zuordnen und der Koch wurde geholt. Nach 2,5 Stunden Brot und 5 Tapas je Person war der Abend zu Ende. Das Bezahlen ging dann wieder schneller mit Service. Allen weiteren Gästen viel Erfolg bei ihrem Besuch – für uns war es leider nix. Jetzt müsste eigentlich die Frage kommen ...Warum haben Sie nichts vor Ort gesagt? Nun ja, unser Köbes äh Servicekraft war der Chef…. P.S. … über das angekündigte Amuse kann ich nichts sagen, da nie erhalten.
