Zur Alten Tanke Engstlatt in Balingen

The two of us went to eat at the Alte Gaske (Old Gas Station). My food came right away, but my colleague had to wait a very long time – even when I was finished, he still didn't have his food. That's unacceptable. Very disappointing. As a result, we didn't order the second meal.

You have to experience something like this to be believed. I've never seen a restaurant where things were more haphazard and chaotic than here. This is experiential gastronomy...

This was our first time at the Alte Tanke and we were absolutely thrilled! The food was very good, and the service was friendly and attentive. What was especially nice was that our little girl got a free ice cream – a really nice gesture. We'd love to come back and highly recommend the Alte Tanke!

I picked something up for the first time today. I had chicken with fries and sauce. The chicken was perfect, the fries were a dream, only the salad was a bit watery. The kids had schnitzel with fries and sauce. The portion was normal, I can only say wow, those are decent portions. The taste was very good. My wife had the grilled platter. She said it tasted great. However, it could have been a bit juicier. But the service when we picked it up was top-notch. The price was amazing, and all in all, a great meal. We only have a 5-minute walk there, and we know that from now on, we'll leave the kitchen cold on Sundays and come to you. Thank you.

The food is excellent. The doner meat is the best I've had in this area so far, ultra-tender and very well seasoned. So far, I can highly recommend the doner kebab plate and the mixed grill plate. Service is still a bit chaotic when it's busy, but I'm sure that will improve over time.

Die ersten Getränke kamen schnell. Die speisekarte habe ich nach 30min selber geholt und das Essen kam dann 40 min später im Abstand von je 15 min pro Person. Ein zweites Bier ist ausgefallen da keiner kam. Schade eigentlich bei der location

The first drinks arrived quickly. After 30 minutes, I finally got the menu myself, despite asking repeatedly. I then had to order at the counter. The food (doner kebab) arrived after 45 minutes, every 15 minutes. Ordering another drink was impossible because no one came.

The old gas station has reopened and has new operators. We understand that things can be a little more chaotic in the initial phase. But what we experienced was anything but acceptable. We had reserved a table for 10 people outside on the terrace by phone. When we arrived there wasn't a single table left. We were told that other people had simply sat down at our reserved table and that there was nothing we could do about it and that we should sit in and have our drinks inside and that there would definitely be a free place by then. But we didn't want that & after a long back and forth we were finally able to take a seat because other guests had left. We still didn't have enough chairs and 10 of us had to squeeze into a table that was designed for 6 people. Once we ordered our drinks, it took some time for the drinks to arrive - but 3 drinks were missing. This was noted and then three drinks followed promptly, albeit the wrong ones. They were then taken away again and many minutes passed until the correct drinks arrived - the others had already finished theirs. And then the chaos continued with the food... 4 of us ordered a normal kebab plate. That came at some point too. Unfortunately, everyone else didn't receive anything... we asked several times and pointed this out. Another waitress kept coming and asked what was still missing. We probably had to say it 4 times. There was no apology from the owner of the restaurant but they tried to talk their way out of it because there was a lot going on. We later found out that the meat for the dishes we ordered was out and that we had to get the meat out of the freezer first. In the meantime, some people had ordered drinks that didn't come either. You had the feeling that no one had any plan anymore and the waiters seemed to avoid our table and didn't come at all. At some point one of us said that she no longer wanted her food and the answer from the operator was “yes, then not”. This is anything but customer friendly & I have never experienced anything like it. In the end a waitress was sent who then apologized to us, but there was no apology from the operator. The only thing we were offered was a glass of schnapps for each of us, which each of us declined. I will definitely avoid this place in the future. The taste of the food was okay, but nothing special.

We fully understand that not everything can run smoothly in the initial phase of a new opening. Unfortunately, what we experienced during our visit was far from acceptable service. Despite prior reservations for our larger group, there were no tables available when we arrived. After a short wait, we were finally able to sit down, but then had to wait around 40 minutes for our first drinks - three of the beers we ordered were missing, and these were only served another 20 minutes later after repeated inquiries. The chaos also continued with the meal: out of ten dishes ordered, only four initially came. Again we had to point out our order several times. It seemed as if communication in the service team wasn't working at all - we were repeatedly asked what was still missing. After another long wait, we were finally informed that we had run out of meat for some dishes and that more had to be brought from the cold storage. At this point we had already been sitting for 1.5 hours - with no clear information, let alone an apology. It gave the impression that our table was deliberately avoided. After a total of two hours, the rest of the food finally arrived - which, to be fair, tasted good. The location and the ambience are also very appealing. Unfortunately, that alone cannot outweigh the disappointment about the process and the way we were treated. In the end we were given an apology - we thank you for that. We very much hope that the processes will work better in the future, because the potential is definitely there. Unfortunately, this visit was a very unsatisfactory experience for us.

Great team, very nice service. I deducted the star from the food because unfortunately there is no vegetarian dish apart from fries. Maybe my tip with the falafels can be implemented, then I'll be happy to come back. By the way, fries are great!!

Were there today and my husband ate a schnitzel platter. 800g meat and 300g pasta. He ate everything by himself. Always delicious there.

It's always an experience for me to come here and eat the world's best chicken.

Really delicious there😘 I always eat the cordon bleu with spaetzle and gravy, simply wonderful. The portion is something for good eaters and the price is great

Tolle kleine Wirtschaft mit nettem Biergarten. Das Essen kam sehr schnell, war mega lecker und die Portionen sind reichlich. Ich bin ein guter Esser und esse oft was mein Schatz nicht schafft aber ich musste am Schluss doch kämpfen. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und der Biergarten ist bei schönem Wetter sehr zu empfehlen. Wir hatten einmal Schnitzel mit Pommes und Salat sowie einmal Cordon Bleu mit Pommes und Salat was beides sehr zu empfehlen ist. Dazu wurde eine super leckere, hausgemachte Bratensoße gereicht. Gerne wieder.

Das Essen war sehr lecker & auch schön angerichtet. Der Biergarten hat uns auch gut gefallen. Allerdings war die Bedienung unfreundlich. Sie machte einen schmuddeligen und überforderten Eindruck.. Ansonsten hat uns das Ambiente sehr gut gefallen 👍🏻

Lecker Hähnchen mit Live-Musik.

Wer hier mit ein paar Getränken, Musik und sehr freundlichem Personal zufrieden ist, kann sich hier wohlfühlen. Doch gut essen ist eher nicht der Fall. Hamburger Petti zu trocken, pommes auch und das Öl wohl nicht mehr so frisch wie es sein sollte. 17,40€ für einen Chessburger mit einer kleinen Portion Pommes sollte super schmecken. Doch dieser Burger wäre natürlich 6 € Wert gewesen. Das Burgerbrotchen war super auch der Belag sn dich war gut. Aber das Fleisch war... Der Kartoffelsalat zu viel Essig. Die Bratensose war ordentlich mit Maggi gewürzt. Die Preise sind sehr Hoch. Kurz um geht hier nicht essen. Preisleistung beim Essen geht gar nicht.

Das Essen war fantastisch. Die Preise moderat. Genug Parkplätze. Hunde sind erlaubt. Tolles Flair. Kein 5 Sterne Restaurant, aber sehr gut bürgerlich und angenehm! Der Außenbereich ist barrierefrei!

Ein uriger Ort. Bisschen scheint dort die Zeit stehen geblieben zu sein, aber genau das macht es so nett. Gute Musik, viele Gäste, Essen schmeckt, Getränke gekühlt. Kommen gerne wieder.

Sehr lange Wartezeit. Knapp 1h. Obwohl nicht viel los. Essen ganz ok .... haben wusa gegessen .

Fast alle Speisen kommen aus der Fritteuse und leider schmeckt man das auch ! Des Weiteren ist wohl alles TK beziehungsweise Konfiniensfood ! Danke aber nein Danke!

Wir wollten Sonntag Abend spontan essen gehen, was in einem deutschen Lokal fast unmöglich ist - da alles voll ist. Dort haben wir aber noch ein nettes Plätzchen draußen bekommen. Es war schon viel los, aber nicht rappelvoll. Wir mussten trotzdem über eine Stunde auf unser Essen warten. In meinen Salat war eine Fliege , was ja mal passieren kann. Das Essen war ok, aber jetzt nichts besonderes, was man woanders nicht bekommt. Man kann mal einkehren sollte aber Zeit mitbringen.

Nettes Restaurant, die Speisen sind einfach aber sehr lecker, der Service herzlich, gerne wieder.

Ich hatte heute das Vergnügen, in der Alten Tanke zu essen, und es war eine großartige Erfahrung!! Das Essen war köstlich und wurde sehr schnell serviert. Die Bedienung 7 war professionell und wirkte kompetent. Es war offensichtlich, dass er das Kellnern mit Leidenschaft ausübt. Ich war rundum zufrieden und kann die Alte Tanke jedem empfehlen, der gutes Essen und einen erstklassigen Service schätzt Tisch 26 sagt Danke. 👌👋👍🏻Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Sehr nettes Lokal, leider wie überall mit Personalmangel in der Küche, deshalb reichlich Wartezeit einkalkulieren.

Gutes Essen bei super Service mit Rolf!

Genügend Parkplätze, schöner Biergarten vor dem Haus.Das Essen, in meinem Fall der Hackbraten vom Rind mit Pommes und Gemüse kam schnell und war sehr schmackhaft. Preis-Leistung war Super. Der Beilagensalat könnte besser sein. Die Speisekarte selbst ist auf gute Bierkartenmenüs ausgerichtet. Alles in allem als Biergartenrestaurant ist die Alte Tanke zu empfehlen. Wir kommen gerne einmal wieder.

Guter Service ,leckeres Essen sehr freundlich jederzeit wieder

Schöner Zwischenstop um einen Snack zu sich zu nehmen. Der neue Biergarten ist einladend und unser Schnitzel & Bacon Burger war der Hit.

Für den kleinen Hunger oder das kurze Bier ist es okay. Im Sommer im Biergarten bei Livemusik macht es aber mehr Spaß dort zu verweilen

Die Speisekarte wird oft erneuert und das Essen schmeckt sehr gut. Was mich nur stört sind die ständigen Verspätungen, weshalb man oft bis zu einer Stunde auf sein Essen warten muss. Jedoch sind die Lieferanten sehr freundlich. :)

Etwas ältere Einrichtung aber trotzdem fühlt man sich wohl in der Atmosphäre. Bedienung freundlich und wirkt nicht überfordert, trotz mehrerer Gäste. Essen war sehr lecker und gerne wieder.

Haben Burger und Nuggets mit Pommes bestellt zur Lieferung. Essen kam zügig und war mega Lecker! Freuen uns auf den Sommer und draußen im Biergarten zu sitzen!

Wir waren schon öfter in der alten Tanke und das Essen sowie der Service ist super! Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Die Räumlichkeiten sind zwar nicht up to date, aber das Essen ist lecker. Insbesondere das Rumpsteak kann ich empfehlen.

Die alte Tanke ist einfach Kult. Hähnchen und Schlegel, Wurstsalat in verschiedenen Varianten gibt es dort. Hier muss man mal gewesen sein. Der Wirt und das Küchenteam sind sehr schwäbische aber auch super freundlich . Wir haben spät abends (21.30 uh) noch Essen bekommen. Draußen sitzen oder auch drin ist einfach klasse. Ein Must-Go.

Bei schönem Wetter draußen sitzen und Bierle trinken passt und gefällt. An verschiedenen Tagen auch Programm mit Livemusik etc. Auch schön. Die Kategorie „Restaurant“ passt m. E. hier nicht. Klar, ne Kleinigkeit zu Essen ok, geht hier aber nicht in die Wertung ein.

Leckere Schnitzel mit Pommes. Cooler uriger Biergarten mit genügend Schatten. Im Sommer gibt es bei der WM Public Viewing.

Zum etwas Trinken kann man da vielleicht schon mal hin. Das Essen ist jedoch unter aller kanone. Alles aus der Friteuse selbst die Bratwurst. Die Toilette ist sehr eng und klein und man muss schon sehr viel Geschick haben um dort einparken zu können.

Aus Neugierde haben wir die "alte Tanke" auch einmal getestet- einmal und nie wieder. Schön sitzen draussen im Biergarten- ok. Aber das Essen war zum Abgewöhnen. Verkochte Spätzle, ungewürztes Fleischm, sehr saurer Salat. -da kochen wir zu Hause deutlich besser Der Service war ok.

Wer Sky Sport sehen möchte ist gut aufgehoben. Im Raucher oder Nichtraucher Raum. Essen kommt wohl aus der TK oder Früher. Wurstsalat ist ebenfalls aus dem Eimer. Das Essen ist für die Qualität deutlich zu teuer. Einzig der Biergarten ist angenehm.

Wir waren heute in dieser "Absteige" zum Essen. Das Essen ist lieblos gekocht - wenn man Fertigspätzle aus der Tüte und eine Fertigsosse denn kochen nennen kann. Toiletten schmutzig, Boden und Tische fettig und verschmiert. Das Desinfektionsmittel auf der Toilette wurde dankend angenommen von uns...
