Dear people... do yourself a favor and give this place a really wide berth. We ate there and got terribly bad food. We had ordered the cordon bleu (for €23!!) and received a frozen product with a packet of sauce that was so soggy that it was disgusting. Price and performance clearly do not match. Drinks also overpriced. And please be careful⚠️ almost right next to it there is almost the same restaurant from the same owner. You'd better go to "Uncle Willi" it's great there!

We had a table on the upper terrace, which would actually be nice if the terrace wasn't blocked with tables and the middle parasol (in full sun) could also be opened (was refused when asked because of possible heat) We drank an Aperol (0.2l), a small Weizen (0.4l) and a Sprite (unfortunately non-carbonated) for a sporty 22.40 euros and decided to do so based on the appearance of the food delivered to neighboring tables in conjunction with the steep prices , not to eat in the Landsknecht. Unfortunately, there seems to be a fundamental problem in Cochem (overpriced/overcrowded with a restaurant flair from the 70s/80s) and we will choose another city the next time we visit the Moselle. In retrospect, Zell was recommended to us.

Headline: What does nonsense mean? I didn't want to believe the many negative reviews, so I made up my own mind. Conclusion: Please don't let the first impression of the "tavern" deceive/dazzle you! For a short stay with a drink on the beautiful terrace with a great view of the Moselle ---> well, ok. However, you should eat out everywhere in Cochem, just not here! Unless you like convenience food, moody service and a hefty bill for services not provided. The positive reviews are a mystery to me.

Drink prices extremely outrageous! A small shandy €6.80 a small cola €5.90. And the best trick is that the drink prices are not listed on the outside of the restaurant. Tourist trap! When asked whether there was an error in the bill because of the excessive drink prices, she said that the large beer costs €12 and the large cola is also that expensive. To describe the food as quality would be a bad joke. "By the way, there are no normal mixed salads either." You can see that the prices for drinks are different when you go a corner further into the “Kellerchen” winery. In the “Kellerchen” all drinks are reasonably priced.

I can only agree with the other reviews. The view is nice but the food isn't worth it. In our food there was too much pepper or simply not enough flavor. It reminded me of cafeteria food. Definitely too expensive for the price we paid! No recommendation.

Overpriced ready-made products, the only thing that keeps you going is the location. If you really want to eat well, you unfortunately have to miss out on the view of the Moselle, because unfortunately this is the owner of a restaurant chain and even a local wine dealer is upset about him.

In contrast to many other reviews here, we spent a very nice evening on the terrace. The service was fantastic and the food was delicious. Of course there are cheaper restaurants, but in a tourist area the prices are still completely reasonable. Initially there was no table available outside for our large group, so we had to wait inside for a few minutes. As soon as a table was available, it only took a few minutes until we were allowed to sit down. The waiters were incredibly kind and funny. Despite the bad reviews, I would eat here again and again.

The tarte flambée worked like this, but was very expensive. But €9.90 for a bottle of water is outrageous. Can't recommend the place.

The vegetarian tarte flambée was very tasty, the waitresses came to our table in a friendly, funny and quick manner. We had good experiences here and fortunately we didn't look at the reviews beforehand. My dog ​​was also welcomed with absolutely no problem and all the staff were friendly and polite to us.

Excellent grand cafe-like restaurant with a lovely terrace on the top floor. I don't share complaints about slow service in other reviews, it was fine,... or perhaps those people forgot to press the "service" button? 😉 We had a delicious meal and drinks for lunch with a great view over the Moselle, so we were very satisfied 👍🏼

Cheap pressed schnitzel with more breading than meat. Thin sticks of fries. You choose from a large menu and when you order you are asked "with the salad?" This suggests as if the salad was included in the exorbitant price. But in the end it costs €4.90 extra. Starter baguette with garlic butter 4, For 90€ you get hard garlic butter and four small pieces of dry baguette. Bread was of inferior quality. The quality of the food cannot keep up with the advertising. But this only reflects my experiences. It should encourage the owner to focus a little more on quality and not quantity. Tourists usually only go there once.

I think the negative reactions are a bit exaggerated. It is a restaurant for a quick bite, as there are so many in Cochem, entirely aimed at tourists. So a lot for little. That a lot works, that for a little less. You have to pay a lot of money for snack bar quality food. Likewise, you cannot eat out in the Netherlands, not even at a Chinese restaurant. As mentioned, the quality is comparable to a menu at the snack bar. A frozen schnitzel with gypsy sauce from a large bucket from the wholesaler. But you shouldn't go anywhere here for a culinary delight, that's not what the restaurants are aimed at. The location is great and the staff is friendly, but they cannot cope with the crowds, which causes people to leave without having eaten because waiting half an hour before your first drink is taken is a very long time.

Our recent visit to Zum Landsknecht was disappointing, mainly due to the extremely slow service. Upon arrival it took 15 minutes before we could order our drinks, and this only happened after we called the attention of the waiter ourselves. The service didn't seem to care and was not attentive at all. Once we finally ordered our drinks it took another 10 minutes before we could order our food. Once again we had to speak to the waiter ourselves. This lack of service continued throughout the evening. About 30 minutes later our food arrived at the table. Although the dishes themselves were fine, they were nothing special and certainly did not justify the high prices. Another disadvantage is that you cannot order small glasses of drinks; only large glasses are available, which may be inconvenient for some guests. The poor service overshadowed the quality of the food. During our visit we saw several tables leave because they were not helped and everything took far too long. Finally, after asking for the bill it took an awfully long time before we could pay. If you value fast and attentive service, Zum Landsknecht is not the right choice. This restaurant is not recommended for people without patience. Quite a nice view.

Nice location, really nice terrace with a view of the Moselle. But otherwise absolutely not recommended. The service staff seems annoyed and lets the guests share in this mood. We wanted to enjoy a cozy cocktail to end the summer evening. The service staff gave us more than enough time (almost 20 minutes) to choose. But the cocktails were mixed together carelessly and seemed a bit watered down. Since the amount in the glass was rather small (by the way, no filling quantities are specified in the menu, which is actually mandatory), the glasses were quickly emptied and so we were able to pay for the overly expensive drinks and the staff also seemed happy that we were finally leaving . My conclusion: From now on the vacation can only get better.

Although this restaurant has a great view, it is better to avoid it. The apple juice and coke were diluted and/or old. The coke almost had no sting left. Yet you had to pay almost 6 euros for a large drink. I was looking forward to a Schweinhaxe, but the menu indicated that it needed to be grilled for at least 40 minutes. When I asked the waitress if there was anything on the grill yet, I received a very gruff "40 minutes" as an answer. In the end I went for flammkuchen. The bottom of this was incredibly soft, and not much tastier than the frozen variety from the supermarket. Someone else's Angus steak was dry and almost tasteless. Very unfortunate. Another negative was that they asked for salad with the schnitzel, which was later charged separately. This happens more often at restaurants, but this little bit of lettuce was certainly not worth €5.90 per portion! (Another tip: pepperoni on the flammkuchen are peppers, and not spicy salami!) Staff was not friendly. The answers to questions were short and not always clear.

Unfortunately, I can understand the reviews. The restaurant looks promising and is in a great location. The table was stuck, the sheets of a menu were stuck together. Unfortunately, fries and schnitzel were very bad. There was no ketchup or mayo either. Waitress seemed very stressed. The neighboring table was full and the waitress was there often. There were only two of us. My tarte flambée was very tasty, but the price was a bit outrageous. We paid a total of €72, unfortunately we weren't completely full. Unfortunately there is a lot of room for improvement. A pity.

Drenched in the rain, we sat down in the restaurant, which was so beautiful and attractive from the outside. It was drafty and cold, so we pushed the large open window slightly closed. We were happy when we walked out of this unpleasant shop! The location and the view get the one star.

The food was ok, not difficult a schnitzel and a currywurst. I asked the waitress for Ketchup and Mayo, she said yes, I'm still waiting. My husband ordered a beer, he found that it tasted as if it had been diluted with water and then the pompom billed him for €9.90 per bottle of water, mind-blowing. I made the remark, I was told that the price was indicated on the menu, indeed but the drink was taken before having the cards. In short, nothing to do, only arrogance. In my opinion, to be avoided.

We are really annoyed that we didn't read the reviews that confirm our experience earlier. Unfortunately, the ambience and the view blind you. This is absolute audacity! Put off by the bad comments, we just wanted to watch a European Football Championship game here (due to a lack of alternatives) (which they also advertised with signs outside) We ordered two shandy and a coke - in the end the surprise came: the prices did not match those on the card (which we had previously collected), instead we paid almost €6 for the 0.4l of coke. The highlight was the TV being switched off without comment during stoppage time. When we asked to wait until the last minute, the only reply we got was that the waitress had finished work half an hour ago and we should go somewhere else where they're open until 12. This stay was a complete disgrace and we have learned to definitely listen to Google reviews in the future!

Fried mushrooms were still frozen inside. A sauce for all dishes. Everything tastes the same. Ketchup and mayo from Lidl. Excessive drink prices. Absolutely not recommended.

Wie waren mit einer größeren Gruppe da. Kinder-Nudeln mit muffiger Soße gingen zurück. Ansonsten Fertigsoße zum Jägerschnitzel und alle Schnitzel (laut Karte vom Strohschwein) waren auf keinen Fall selbst paniert, sahen alle gleichförmig und nach TK-Ware aus. Das hatten wir vor einigen Wochen abends anders erlebe.

Auf der gesamten Straße wurde man von Kellnern gedrängt bei Ihnen auf der Terrasse zu essen. Hier war dem nicht so. Also haben wir uns hingesetzt und die Karte bekommen. Service: Kleine Getränke fangen bei etwas mehr als 5€ an. Als wir eine kleine Cola bestellen wollten, wurde uns gesagt, dass sie die Größe nicht haben. Statt einfach in ein kleineres Glas zu füllen wurden uns ein Euro mehr berechnet. Kellnerin merklich genervt, als nicht jeder von uns zu diesen Preisen Getränke kaufen wollten. Essen: Leider war die Cola auch merklich mit Wasser vermischt. Flamm Kuchen ist sehr dünn. Backfisch mit Pommes. Der Fisch wird mit Fertig-Remoulade aus dem Supermarkt bespritzt. Die Pommes sind jedoch lecker. Champignons-Rahmschnitzel für 18€. Kleines Schnitzel mit einer gut pfefferigen Sauce und Pommes. Insgesamt Gerichte und Getränke stark überteuert. Die gleiche Qualität kann man sich Zuhause selbst machen, da Essen leider insgesamt viel aus Fertigessen zubereitet wird. Wartezeit ist kurz. Ambiente und Aussicht sind schön.

Kan ik echt geen nul geven? Dit is een schande, een toeristentrap, een aanfluiting van alles wat met gastvrijheid, fierheid restauranthouder ... te maken heeft. Pluspunt waarmee ze volk trekken zijn het uitzicht zogenaamd panoramisch terras en lage prijzen (blijken de prijzen kinderporties) . Eenmaal je neerzit en de kaart krijgt zijn de prijzen hoger, ze weigeren een drankje 0.2 l (grootte zaols in Belgie) te serveren. Je moet een slaatje (6 EUR) verplicht bijnemen bij eten ..... Bij bestelling duidelijk gemeld drankjes 0.2 L (4.5 EUR) kwamen ze toch af met glazen 0.4 EUR (rond de 7 EUR) toen ik ze terugstuurde kwamen ze met de melding dat drankje 0.2L enkel voor kindjes waren. Heb ze weggestuurd, opgestaan en ontsnapt uit deze Toeristen val. Laat jullie niet doen !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What bad food. Fries were barely fried and tasted really nasty. Schnitzel was previously ground meat. Staff unfriendly and irritated when you want to pay by card. All for a ridiculous price. View is beautiful.

Just keep your hands off! Unfortunately 1 star is still too much here. I was also dazzled by the location directly on the Moselle. Gypsy schnitzel consisted of 80% breading with a wafer-thin strip of meat in the middle. Add a very small dollop of sauce. To make matters worse, I cut myself on the plate, one of which was damaged. When I informed the waitress that she brought me a damaged plate that I cut myself on, all I got was an “oh” and she disappeared with the plate. No apology, not even a question about how I was (holding a bloody handkerchief in my hands). And paid €102.86 for all the “fun”. (4 schnitzels + 3 colas). Avoid this restaurant urgently and if you decide to do so, be sure to check your glasses and plates for broken edges when you receive them!

Restaurant visit on July 3, 2024: The service was good and the staff was friendly. The location with a view of the Moselle is good. I give the stars for that. Unfortunately, the drinks (€4.40 for 0.2 liters of cola) are too expensive and the food is far too expensive for the quality delivered. I can only agree with the negative reviews. Jägerschnitzel prepared cheaply and sauce from the bag. "Baked breaded mushrooms" fried so hard that they jumped off the plate. Totally tasteless. We chose the first restaurant we found because of a hike with our little daughter. I have rarely experienced such poor service in combination with inedible food and ridiculous prices. The currywurst was served undercooked with gypsy sauce from the jar and a touch of curry was sprinkled on top. The fries were also almost inedible. Fried way too short and obviously in old fat. There was a used tempo handkerchief on my seat. And the carpet tiles on the stairs Viewing terraces were one tripping hazard. The female waitress with glasses was in a really bad mood and managed to ignore us when we wanted to order. The shop apparently thrives on the view. I would never eat there again

The overnight stay was ok. Bed was great. The room was very clean so far. Please clean under the bed. Not suitable for allergy sufferers. But we'll definitely be back. Eating in the restaurant is not recommended. Hunter frozen schnitzel! Sauce cannot be defined. Had nothing to do with hunter sauce!

I'm absolutely speechless! We ordered two drinks (1x 0.2L Rosé for €8 and 1x 0.1L Vineyard Peach Secco for €5). The drinks were brought in the wrong glass (i.e. the Secco in the 0.2L glass and the Rosé in the 0.1L champagne glass). So far so good, service was called and we wanted to have it corrected. At first she didn't believe us (!!!) that the drinks were mixed up and we really had to fight for it. The service was very unfriendly and snippy. Then came the kicker: She insisted on taking the peach secco with her, throwing it away and bringing a smaller glass :D what else can I say about that? If you have no idea and don't enjoy the job, leave it alone. NEVER AGAIN!

The drink order was initially brought in the wrong sizes (big was brought into small and vice versa). After a complaint, the existing drinks were thrown away and brought in the correct sizes. Wine glasses weren't even used for the Moselle wine. Never again!

This restaurant is a disgrace. The only positive thing I can say about this store is the location. The schnitzels are just cheap minute schnitzels from the deep fryer. There were also soft, lukewarm fries and a tasteless pepper sauce from the bag. For 3 schnitzels and 3 drinks they charged €80. An absolute impudence and rip-off. Something like that should be forbidden. The tables, railings and cutlery were also dirty. Not exactly appetizing to eat next to a spider web with dead flies... (they were everywhere)

If only it had at least been good.

Eerste dag in Cochem, eerste restaurant dat we zagen en gelijk in de toeristenval gelopen. Restaurant van buiten erg mooi maar trap er niet in mensen! Eten zeer eenvoudig, fantasieloos en je drinkt de eigenaar rijk. Hoge drankprijzen! Overslaan!

We were approached by a member of staff on the street and were a bit hungry from climbing the castle. The menu is very confusing and full of meat dishes. As a side dish there are basically only fries or potato wedges. We ultimately decided to just eat a tarte flambée and drink a Cola Zero. The Cola Zero wasn't Cola Zero but a normal one with sugar, which is not very good for diabetics. The tarte flambée was stable but nothing more, it looked a bit old. Drinks overpriced. Service in broken German. Tourist trap - never again. The restaurant is located right on the main street and is therefore noisy.

The worst food I have eaten at such an expensive price, 7 pieces of calamari and sticky, potato wedges fried several times and the remulade from a discounter in a bottle. A cyclist 7.50 euros. They also offer other prizes down at the wall. You only go to this restaurant once.

Waitress was grumpy. We were in a draft and the windows were not allowed to be closed. Others also suffered from the cold, but we were asked to sit somewhere else. Where it was just about cold. The food was also not very tasty.

Food not necessarily recommended

After a stroll through Cochem we stopped at the Landsknecht. Sitting very nicely on the terrace on the Moselle. My wife had bruschetta, it was okay, I had a Jägerschnitzel, which was nothing and not worth the money!!!!

What a shame, unbelievable that something like this still exists... We were lured to the promenade and rarely had a bad meal...and please: wine glasses have a stem that you can touch!

ATTENTION ABSOLUTE RIP-OFF! We ordered different dishes and they all seemed like old reheated things. Rump steak and schnitzel were ultra dry, fish was definitely cooked twice. Sauerkraut was from a can. Overpriced drinks and in the end about 20 euros were incorrectly charged. Unfortunately we were no longer there when we discovered this. What we experienced here is outrageous.

You couldn't order small drinks because they were supposedly only for children (we had children with us). If that's actually the case, you should at least write it on the card. There were no large bottles of water either, even though it was on the menu. When another couple left because they had been waiting for over an hour for their food, we left without ordering food. It has to be said that the terrace was not even half occupied. The long waiting time could not have been due to the number of visitors. Don't be blinded by the location! Thank God I read the Google reviews before ordering - they were confirmed when I ordered the drinks. According to the menu there are small drinks (0.2l), but the waiter didn't want to take small drinks because they were only for children. There is nothing about this on the map. We then left the store again.

Quite expensive. We had a bottle of beer and a fanta for 11.80 euros. But nice view, yes.

Attention, attention ⚠️ I can only agree with the previous speaker on every point 🙁 the restaurant is a disaster, frozen goods and drinks at outrageously inflated prices e.g. Radler 0.4 €7.80 absolute rip-off, better look for another restaurant.

I can't understand the bad reviews. We had calamari and Wiener Schnitzel, Riesling, coffee. All very tasty. The cucumber salad was homemade, as was the garlic cream. The veal schnitzel was perfect, the fries were well seasoned. The service attentive. We can recommend the restaurant.

Very bad food, unfriendly boss and staff... For the price you pay you expect good food...

Unfortunately, we only read the reviews after our visit. Good for the restaurant's finances, bad for us. As far as I can remember, we've never had such a bad meal. Especially not in a restaurant that appears to be in such a beautiful location. Unfortunately, people are too easily influenced by the situation. Water 0.5l (most likely from the tap with sparkling water) cost just under 7€!!! The food was definitely industrial and poor quality fare and the wine (note that you were in a wine-growing region!) didn't even taste mediocre and natural, a glass €6.90. Hard to believe! Keep your hands away! A real shame!

Oh man! Reading reviews beforehand would have helped. There is nothing to add to the previous recessions... Too bad even for one star. Unfortunately there are no minus stars...

The food there was frozen. The prices are too expensive for what ended up on the plate. The waiter was unfriendly. Never again !
