The food is truly a disaster! Unfortunately, we didn't read the reviews until after our disappointment. Far too expensive for absolutely subpar food.

The one star can only be given for the location, directly on the Moselle River, the rosé wine, and the appetizers. Otherwise, it was awful. The food was frozen and overpriced. Then the appetizer was forgotten, and it was pointed out several times, but nothing happened. So the service wasn't commendable either. I definitely can't recommend this restaurant.

The food was incredibly bad. The only response I received was "I'm sorry, I don't actually work here." We should have known this when ordering, as the tarte flambée is unfortunately frozen, so no changes can be made. The location and venue look very inviting. The prices for the poor food are also higher at the checkout. Well, next time, check the reviews first.

Had a cappuccino, friendly service and a beautiful view

Don't expect too much. Location top, view over the Mosel. Service fine. Food simple. Price a bit too expensive for the "quality" of the food.

The location is of course great! Directly on the Moselle. The service was friendly! But unfortunately it was already. The quality of the food absolutely does not correspond to the prices. Another restaurant in Cochem where I can't understand the bad reviews!!🤔🤔 The prices are way too high, but that also has to do with Cochem being a tourist hotspot!! The food on offer is delicious, though 😋 😋 and definitely recommended!! I've had worse on my travels!!

The service was very attentive. The 0.75-liter medium bottle of water cost us 10 euros. Unbelievable. The food was standard. But they offered a flat rate for mayo and ketchup. 😁 The coleslaw was ready-made stuff from a 10-kg bucket at Metro or something similar. Not recommended for the price of 5 euros. I seem to remember it saying something about homemade or something similar. That wasn't the case. I wouldn't recommend using the restroom. That day, it was as dirty as a backyard.

We ate at a restaurant. What can I say? Hair in the food doesn't go down well... with two dishes... I ordered a schnitzel and discovered it came from the freezer... The second dish was onion schnitzel with fries. They served dry schnitzel with dry fries and dry fried onions from Lidl and the like. No sauce, ketchup, or mayo offered. Today, my wife and I visited the Landsknecht, fully expecting to enjoy a good meal in a traditional restaurant in a beautiful location—with a view of the Moselle. We were treated to a magnificent view of the Moselle. Everything else was simply "below the belt"!!! We could have had tastier food at any fast food joint attached to a supermarket!!! Warning: This place—"Zum Landsknecht"—is, in my opinion, a breeding ground for rip-offs!!! Signs along the street advertise prices "from...€"—be careful—these are the prices for the children's meals!!! The prices for the "regular" meals are not comparable. The schnitzel was still edible, but the advertised fried onions were supermarket fare, and the fries were dry and tough! No side dishes! I should have saved myself the small bowl of watery cucumber slaw for €5.90—I could have easily gotten it in a kilo-sized bucket at the supermarket for a fraction of the price—and not so diluted with water. The soup as a starter was inedible, and there was no telling what it could have been. If you really want to try the Landsknecht, I have one piece of advice: Drink a glass of plain water for €5.90—that will make the owner RICH ENOUGH!!! Rip-off at its highest potential!!! Carsten Tews

We often went there in the evenings for a glass of wine because of the beautiful view on the panoramic terrace. After 6 p.m. there are almost no guests upstairs. Friendly quick service. Prices normal

Nice location but way too expensive for what you get. Everything is from the freezer. Yes it may be a cafe restaurant, but the prices are of a better restaurant than this. Not recommended.

Beware of ripping off tourists! The cards on the street offer attractive prices (prices from...). Drinks and side dishes are very expensive, but above all the quality of the food is simply very poor. I had an "Argentinian" sirloin steak, which unfortunately had tendons running through it and was slightly burnt. My friend had a tarte flambée, which unfortunately wasn't convincing at all. It was definitely our first and last visit!

We had booked a room for 4 days. The best part was the view. It started when checking in, you had to check in at an Italian restaurant 100m away. This was never communicated and was told to us in a rather annoyed manner at the entrance. The dishes and the coffee machine were dirty. The double bed consisted of 2 single beds pushed together and connected by a fitted sheet. Some sockets didn't work and the smoke detector was removed. There was no proper drain in the sink and the toilet already had splintered wood. The chip for the night door didn't work either. If two employees hadn't happened to come by after work, we would have had to stay outside. Conclusion: If you come alone for one night it is sufficient but not recommended for more.

We were here a year ago and at that time there were still fresh salads. Unfortunately not this year. Maybe the owner changed? We ordered fried fish and schnitzel with fries. The food was delivered within 5 minutes. It was tasty, but everything seemed to come from the freezer.

You can visit this restaurant for Moselle wine and tarte flambée. Unfortunately, all other dishes definitely consisted of fried ready-made products, which were offered at far too high prices. We really regretted our visit here. Tip: The menu cards in front of the restaurant had cheaper prices than in the menu in the restaurant and according to the law this is allowed because the menu cards outside and in the restaurant are only suggestions and not binding prices.

We thought it would be a nice, cozy meal… we asked for medium steak. Got weird ones. Then sent back. Everything came back pitch black. Not really worth the money when you pay 25 euros for a steak.

You can only find so much food from the supermarket in the supermarket itself. The ketchup and mayonnaise bottles from Gut und Günstig were served with the fries. Vorab, es gab sehr schlechtes Essen. Leider wirklich furchtbar. So viel Essen aus dem Supermarkt findet man sonst nur im Supermarkt selbst. Das Ketchup-und die Majonäseflaschen von Gut und Günstig wurden zu den Pommes serviert. Der Rucolasalat wurde kaum ausgeputzt und so wie war, aus der Packung auf den Teller geklatscht. Die Backkartoffen stammte aus der Vorjahressaison und ins Wasser geworfen. Sie waren gar. Aber das war’s dann auch schon am Positiven. Gut wie Lange an der Mosel nicht zu vergessen. Also wer gern fettig und geschmackloses Essen bevorzugt ist hier richtig aufgehoben. Die unverschämten Preise für so schlechtes Essen kann man wohl so schnell nicht überbieten .

Menu was extremely cluttered and confusing, sticky pages. 3. Food. Bruschetta was okay, but way too much arugula salad and balsamic sauce. We had to look for the olive oil. My beef sirloin steak was good, but nothing more. Rancid garlic butter or just plain old? The wedges were frozen and not quite cooked through on the inside, very dry. Very carelessly prepared - the eye doesn't really appreciate it. The lumberjack steak was very thinly sliced ​​in places and more than done, very dry. Fried onions - finished product, in excess. 4. Drinks. The bottle of NON-carbonated water won the day: 9.80 euros!!! For everything together we paid around 90 euros. Price-performance ratio definitely NOT met.

Rip off They advertise dishes that are only available at certain times or not at all. Sauerbraten only at carnival time, roulades were sold out, 12 p.m. even though there was hardly anyone there, are guaranteed to be sold out tomorrow and the day after. Senior schnitzel, fryer schnitzel with fries in sufficient quantity, but zero decoration. Cucumber salad in a mini bowl should cost 5.90 extra. The drinks are a rip-off, 0.4 Cola 5.80 and beer 0.4 6.90, but the beer at the Oktoberfest in Munich was a bargain.

Splinters of wood that were hanging on the tarte flambée were already coming loose. - The schnitzel with the mushroom cream, which according to the staff's recommendation was supposed to be the best meal in the house, was an absolute disgrace. It's a frozen schnitzel that hasn't even come to the table yet. It was still frozen in the middle. The sauce was extremely salty and sour. The fries that were served as a side dish were also not yet cooked and were frozen in the middle. But what should you wait when the food is at the table 5 minutes after you order. - The steak was ordered medium and it was more than well done the first time. It was then returned and reordered. Even the second time it was more than a hit. When the second complaint was made, the waitress tore the plate off the table and rudely said that she was now going to the chef and ordering a steak in English. We refused, but the waitress still disappeared into the kitchen with the plate. After 1 minute she gave us a new plate with a steak that didn't even really see the pan. It was completely raw and inedible. All in all, an absolute disgrace.

If you expect something different, you should look for a star restaurant. I don't want to discuss the prices; a critic writes about a schnitzel for €2.99 in the store. Would he, for example his wife, pay a wage of €15.00 for preparation, service and washing up; Then add up electricity, water, sewage, rent and the oils/fats used, where would the final price be? (Semi-)negative: A group member had ordered a crispy pork knuckle, but only half of it was really crispy. No drinks were charged as compensation (by the hotel). (see positive review)

We went there for dinner. A chicken and a pork schnitzel were ordered, each with fries and mushroom cream sauce, which is suggested to be a bestseller on the menu. We were asked by the service whether we would like a side salad with it. The choice was cucumber or coleslaw. We decided on coleslaw... Within 4 minutes a glass of coleslaw arrived and about 5 minutes later the food. Now things are starting to get really bad. The sauce was watery and you could see the lumps of milk powder from the cream powder. To make it mushroom cream, canned mushrooms were added... So the kitchen doesn't do any work with this and has no interest in at least refining this powdery mess. The schnitzels are frozen as are the fries. The schnitzel with sauce and fries came for €16.90 The coleslaw was charged extra at €4.90. It has to be mentioned here, it came from a bucket from Aldi or one of the other supermarkets. When I wanted to take the first sip I noticed that my glass wasn't clean. There was a pretty disgusting layer of grease on the bottom edge of the glass that looked like it had been stuck to the edge for a few weeks. Unsuspecting tourists are being ripped off mercilessly here! We kindly pointed out the deficiencies and the food to the waitress, she mumbled a sorry and wanted to make it clear that she would pass it on, but she certainly didn't. We definitely won't be dining here again.

High prices, terrible food. Yes, and of course you ask yourself why you choose this restaurant despite the previous reviews? Because the internet in this area is at least as bad as this restaurant. Room is good, only negative is that there is no heating in the bathroom and hooks for the towels. The walls are relatively thin and you can hear the neighbors. The food in the restaurant is good, but the sauce was a bit thin and the prices were a bit higher, but it's in the first row on the Moselle and you pay for that (it's no different elsewhere). It would be good if there were hot radiators on the second terrace (like on the first terrace) and a small discount for hotel guests.

The view of the Moselle is beautiful. Service is limited due to a lack of staff; some of them only understand German to a limited extent. When drinks other than what was ordered were served, this was only exchanged with a grumpy face. We didn't eat there anymore because the food wasn't tasty. For a small bowl of cucumber salad 5.90 euros, I think it's too much for the quantity. Hotel room was clean and functional. A small cooking facility, refrigerator and Senseo machine are available.

But don't give a negative review of the place. Very appealing from the outside and inside. My meal (breaded veal schnitzel with champion cream sauce and fries) was sufficient and delicious - the best thing I've eaten in a long time! Well, you can argue about the cucumber salad for six euros. I always want to recommend this place!

The service was friendly and quick, but the food was not recommended. Everything sounds better than it is. Got the Holzfäller stek. Worst ever. The dish was so dry that it was hard to swallow. Not even mayo could help me swallow. The chef must be so uninspired to even aim for something that even tastes good. The terrace was nice! But don't let that fool you.

I've been to a lot of good and bad restaurants, and this is definitely one of the worst. Service is terrible, prices are outrageous and the chef has clearly missed his job. Every food joint makes better food. Here it is part of the business model to make the guest wait extra in order to sell them overpriced appetizers or outrageously expensive drinks (bottle of water 10€) while they wait. After I explained to three different people that I wanted to pay (cash), the bill came what felt like 20 minutes later and the question whether cash or card 🙄. The lady could have saved herself the “goodbye”, that won’t happen.

Ugh, you don't look on the internet, but do the old version: full terrace, isn't it a good sign!? I thought. Cheapest frozen food. Not even the fries were edible, just warmed up in fat. The prices on the boards are very cheap and the prices on the menu are considerably more expensive.

Fin utsikt men tyvärr höll inte maten samma klass. Beställde snitzel med pommes o pepparsås. Det var också vad som fanns på tallriken. Inte något som gav ett trevligt intryck som en skiva tomat eller något annat. En väldigt beige maträtt med en pepparsås som skurit sig och var tjock som en stuvning. Dessutom till för denna rätten ett högt pris. Personalen var trevlig och mat och dryck kom snabbt.

Wie hier schon einige zuvor, möchte auch ich vor dem Verzehr der dargebotenen Speisen warnen. Zum Schutz der Geschmacksnerven und der Magenschleimhaut - bitte essen sie woanders ! Ich bin nun 67 Jahre alt und habe nur einmal in meinem Leben schlechter gegessen. Die Qualität des Essens in dieser Touristenfalle grenzt an Körperverletzung, die Preise sind völlig unangemessen.

Location on the Moselle with two higher terraces, so nice. The food gets deductions. The grilled knuckle was not grilled and the schnitzel came across as if it had been made somewhere else. When the service received nice feedback, they responded indifferently with a shrug of the shoulders. I would give other restaurants the chance in the future. But as we all know, tastes differ. Dear people... do yourself a favor and give this place a really wide berth. We ate there and got terribly bad food. We had ordered the cordon bleu (for €23!!) and received a frozen product with a packet of sauce that was so soggy that it was disgusting. Price and performance clearly do not match. Drinks also overpriced. And please be careful⚠️ almost right next to it there is almost the same restaurant from the same owner. You'd better go to "Uncle Willi" it's great there!

Inedible food at exorbitant prices. Not recommended

UNBEDINGT WEITERGEHEN und woanders einkehren!!! Wir hatten den Sommertipp Folienkartoffel auf Tomatensalat mit Ruccola und Schnitzel Bernaise ... wer Tomatensalat incl. Strunk mag, der nicht frisch angemacht sondern irgendwann morgens vorbereitet wurde, sowie als Topping welken Ruccola und TK-SCHNITZEL mit TetraBernaise liebt, ist hier genau richtig! Auch der TetraTraubensaft (ebenfalls bestimmt die billigst zu kaufende Variante) gleich neben dem Apfelsaft, der auch nicht viel besser war ... und das für 6,90 € pro Getränk! Sehr ärgerlich alles, hätten besser vorher gegoogelt!

So einen Fraß habe ich selten erhalten. Das war abscheulich und höchste Abzocke. Das ganze Serviceteam wirkt total gleichgültig, schmutzig und unprofessionell. Nie wieder. Meidet diesen schlechten Imbiss.

Schnitzel auf Kantinenniveau und Getränke total überteuert. Als wir unser Essen bestellt haben, wurden wir gefragt, ob wir Gurken- oder Krautsalat dazu haben wollen. Scheinbar hat dieser 6 Euro extra gekostet. Der Laden sieht zwar super aus, aber ist die größte Touristenfalle.

We had a table on the upper terrace, which would actually be nice if the terrace wasn't blocked with tables and the middle parasol (in full sun) could also be opened (was refused when asked because of possible heat) We drank an Aperol (0.2l), a small Weizen (0.4l) and a Sprite (unfortunately non-carbonated) for a sporty 22.40 euros and decided to do so based on the appearance of the food delivered to neighboring tables in conjunction with the steep prices , not to eat in the Landsknecht. Unfortunately, there seems to be a fundamental problem in Cochem (overpriced/overcrowded with a restaurant flair from the 70s/80s) and we will choose another city the next time we visit the Moselle. In retrospect, Zell was recommended to us.

Headline: What does nonsense mean? I didn't want to believe the many negative reviews, so I made up my own mind. Conclusion: Please don't let the first impression of the "tavern" deceive/dazzle you! For a short stay with a drink on the beautiful terrace with a great view of the Moselle ---> well, ok. However, you should eat out everywhere in Cochem, just not here! Unless you like convenience food, moody service and a hefty bill for services not provided. The positive reviews are a mystery to me.

Located directly on the Moselle. Very nice restaurant with delicious schnitzels! We went back to Cochem extra for it, at the request of the children. It is also quite affordable

Rude service, high prices compared to the quality of food and other places around.

Drink prices extremely outrageous! A small shandy €6.80 a small cola €5.90. And the best trick is that the drink prices are not listed on the outside of the restaurant. Tourist trap! When asked whether there was an error in the bill because of the excessive drink prices, she said that the large beer costs €12 and the large cola is also that expensive. To describe the food as quality would be a bad joke. "By the way, there are no normal mixed salads either." You can see that the prices for drinks are different when you go a corner further into the “Kellerchen” winery. In the “Kellerchen” all drinks are reasonably priced.

I can only agree with the other reviews. The view is nice but the food isn't worth it. In our food there was too much pepper or simply not enough flavor. It reminded me of cafeteria food. Definitely too expensive for the price we paid! No recommendation.

Disgraceful for the performance. Everything from the freezer or salad bucket. Far too expensive for the very poor performance and quality from the kitchen.
