Unfortunately 1 star is too much, but you have to give at least 1 star. The service was unfriendly, the food was so bad. The schnitzels were made from pressed meat, tasted terribly like pork and the sauces were ready-made and everything, including the drinks, were overpriced. We were there with 6 people and were simply dazzled by the beautiful view of the Moselle. Never again and really not recommended at all!

This one I wouldn't recommend the store to anyone, frozen food is served, prices are exorbitantly expensive, I wonder why we didn't get up and leave, I wanted to check for reviews before we went in but couldn't because there's no reception in the area. Give the store a wide berth.

We had lunch on October 13th, 2024. Ambience was fine, friendly staff. But the food was a disaster. Cold, poorly seasoned, the fries were floury, the others didn't get the sauces, the knuckle was by no means crispy and the meat was wobbly. We haven't eaten so badly in a long time. Also too expensive for this quality.

It's a shame for the staff, but given the prices I assumed that the tip was included in the regular price on the menu. The food was so well. We had a tarte flambée: not bad; Baked potato: Somehow it didn't taste as good as you would expect from a reasonably fresh potato; Potato wedges with Eifel quark: These were potato wedges (I would have imagined something different under corners) with garlic curd (a la aioli). Under Eifel quark I would have imagined something with herbs and not a garlic dip. Oh well and the bottle of water for €10!!! If you don't look at the Google reviews first!! That was a good lesson that you should always use this tool.

The location of the restaurant is really nice, you have a direct view of the Moselle. The service staff was always attentive and very friendly. But now to the big flaws: Following a recommendation, we ordered a schnitzel with mushroom cream, a tarte flambée and a sirloin steak. There was also a coleslaw. - The coleslaw came to the table very quickly. The portion for the price of €5.90 is simply ridiculous. After two forks the starter salad was served. Just way too expensive. - The tarte flambée was served on a wooden board which had seen better days. Splinters of wood that were hanging on the tarte flambée were already coming loose. - The schnitzel with the mushroom cream, which according to the staff's recommendation was supposed to be the best meal in the house, was an absolute disgrace. It's a frozen schnitzel that hasn't even come to the table yet. It was still frozen in the middle. The sauce was extremely salty and sour. The fries that were served as a side dish were also not yet cooked and were frozen in the middle. But what should you wait when the food is at the table 5 minutes after you order. - The steak was ordered medium and it was more than well done the first time. It was then returned and reordered. Even the second time it was more than a hit. When the second complaint was made, the waitress tore the plate off the table and rudely said that she was now going to the chef and ordering a steak in English. We refused, but the waitress still disappeared into the kitchen with the plate. After 1 minute she gave us a new plate with a steak that didn't even really see the pan. It was completely raw and inedible. All in all, an absolute disgrace.

I can't share the many negative reviews! We were there with a small group for dinner in the evening. Positive: Nice atmosphere, super friendly service, response to criticism. Neutral: Certainly not a gourmet temple, but the food was tasty. Since the number of guests for such a tourist location is incalculable, the use of frozen goods is standard. If you expect something different, you should look for a star restaurant. I don't want to discuss the prices; a critic writes about a schnitzel for €2.99 in the store. Would he, for example his wife, pay a wage of €15.00 for preparation, service and washing up; Then add up electricity, water, sewage, rent and the oils/fats used, where would the final price be? You're alienating your own guests. I would never eat with you again. Location is nice but that's about it.

The best-selling mushroom schnitzel on the menu turned out to be a cheap frozen schnitzel with canned mushrooms and ready-made sauce. The salt wasn't skimped on either. High prices, terrible food. Yes, and of course you ask yourself why you choose this restaurant despite the previous reviews? Because the internet in this area is at least as bad as this restaurant. We went there for dinner. A chicken and a pork schnitzel were ordered, each with fries and mushroom cream sauce, which is suggested to be a bestseller on the menu. We were asked by the service whether we would like a side salad with it. The choice was cucumber or coleslaw. We decided on coleslaw... Within 4 minutes a glass of coleslaw arrived and about 5 minutes later the food. Now things are starting to get really bad. The sauce was watery and you could see the lumps of milk powder from the cream powder. To make it mushroom cream, canned mushrooms were added... So the kitchen doesn't do any work with this and has no interest in at least refining this powdery mess. The schnitzels are frozen as are the fries. The schnitzel with sauce and fries came for €16.90 The coleslaw was charged extra at €4.90. It has to be mentioned here, it came from a bucket from Aldi or one of the other supermarkets. When I wanted to take the first sip I noticed that my glass wasn't clean. There was a pretty disgusting layer of grease on the bottom edge of the glass that looked like it had been stuck to the edge for a few weeks. Unsuspecting tourists are being ripped off mercilessly here! We kindly pointed out the deficiencies and the food to the waitress, she mumbled a sorry and wanted to make it clear that she would pass it on, but she certainly didn't. We definitely won't be dining here again.

Room is good, only negative is that there is no heating in the bathroom and hooks for the towels. The walls are relatively thin and you can hear the neighbors. The food in the restaurant is good, but the sauce was a bit thin and the prices were a bit higher, but it's in the first row on the Moselle and you pay for that (it's no different elsewhere). It would be good if there were hot radiators on the second terrace (like on the first terrace) and a small discount for hotel guests.

Got the Holzfäller stek. Worst ever. The dish was so dry that it was hard to swallow. Not even mayo could help me swallow. The chef must be so uninspired to even aim for something that even tastes good. The terrace was nice! But don't let that fool you.

I've been to a lot of good and bad restaurants, and this is definitely one of the worst. Service is terrible, prices are outrageous and the chef has clearly missed his job. Every food joint makes better food. Here it is part of the business model to make the guest wait extra in order to sell them overpriced appetizers or outrageously expensive drinks (bottle of water 10€) while they wait. After I explained to three different people that I wanted to pay (cash), the bill came what felt like 20 minutes later and the question whether cash or card 🙄. The lady could have saved herself the “goodbye”, that won’t happen.

Not recommended! The location directly on the Moselle was promising and the view of the terraces, which were nicely decorated, suggested a good restaurant... unfortunately I was completely wrong. Fin utsikt men tyvärr höll inte maten samma klass. Beställde snitzel med pommes o pepparsås. Det var också vad som fanns på tallriken. Inte något som gav ett trevligt intryck som en skiva tomat eller något annat. En väldigt beige maträtt med en pepparsås som skurit sig och var tjock som en stuvning. Dessutom till för denna rätten ett högt pris. Personalen var trevlig och mat och dryck kom snabbt.

Wie hier schon einige zuvor, möchte auch ich vor dem Verzehr der dargebotenen Speisen warnen. Zum Schutz der Geschmacksnerven und der Magenschleimhaut - bitte essen sie woanders ! Ich bin nun 67 Jahre alt und habe nur einmal in meinem Leben schlechter gegessen. Die Qualität des Essens in dieser Touristenfalle grenzt an Körperverletzung, die Preise sind völlig unangemessen.

Location on the Moselle with two higher terraces, so nice. The food gets deductions. The grilled knuckle was not grilled and the schnitzel came across as if it had been made somewhere else. UNBEDINGT WEITERGEHEN und woanders einkehren!!! Wir hatten den Sommertipp Folienkartoffel auf Tomatensalat mit Ruccola und Schnitzel Bernaise ... wer Tomatensalat incl. Strunk mag, der nicht frisch angemacht sondern irgendwann morgens vorbereitet wurde, sowie als Topping welken Ruccola und TK-SCHNITZEL mit TetraBernaise liebt, ist hier genau richtig! Auch der TetraTraubensaft (ebenfalls bestimmt die billigst zu kaufende Variante) gleich neben dem Apfelsaft, der auch nicht viel besser war ... und das für 6,90 € pro Getränk! Sehr ärgerlich alles, hätten besser vorher gegoogelt!

So einen Fraß habe ich selten erhalten. Das war abscheulich und höchste Abzocke. Das ganze Serviceteam wirkt total gleichgültig, schmutzig und unprofessionell. Nie wieder. Meidet diesen schlechten Imbiss.

Schnitzel auf Kantinenniveau und Getränke total überteuert. Als wir unser Essen bestellt haben, wurden wir gefragt, ob wir Gurken- oder Krautsalat dazu haben wollen. Scheinbar hat dieser 6 Euro extra gekostet. Der Laden sieht zwar super aus, aber ist die größte Touristenfalle.

Unfortunately, there seems to be a fundamental problem in Cochem (overpriced/overcrowded with a restaurant flair from the 70s/80s) and we will choose another city the next time we visit the Moselle. In retrospect, Zell was recommended to us.

You can see that the prices for drinks are different when you go a corner further into the “Kellerchen” winery. In the “Kellerchen” all drinks are reasonably priced.

In contrast to many other reviews here, we spent a very nice evening on the terrace. The service was fantastic and the food was delicious. Of course there are cheaper restaurants, but in a tourist area the prices are still completely reasonable. Initially there was no table available outside for our large group, so we had to wait inside for a few minutes. As soon as a table was available, it only took a few minutes until we were allowed to sit down. The waiters were incredibly kind and funny. Despite the bad reviews, I would eat here again and again.

The vegetarian tarte flambée was very tasty, the waitresses came to our table in a friendly, funny and quick manner. We had good experiences here and fortunately we didn't look at the reviews beforehand. My dog ​​was also welcomed with absolutely no problem and all the staff were friendly and polite to us.

Excellent grand cafe-like restaurant with a lovely terrace on the top floor. I don't share complaints about slow service in other reviews, it was fine,... or perhaps those people forgot to press the "service" button? 😉 We had a delicious meal and drinks for lunch with a great view over the Moselle, so we were very satisfied 👍🏼

Starter baguette with garlic butter 4, For 90€ you get hard garlic butter and four small pieces of dry baguette. Bread was of inferior quality. The quality of the food cannot keep up with the advertising. But this only reflects my experiences. It should encourage the owner to focus a little more on quality and not quantity. The location is great and the staff is friendly, but they cannot cope with the crowds, which causes people to leave without having eaten because waiting half an hour before your first drink is taken is a very long time.

Our recent visit to Zum Landsknecht was disappointing, mainly due to the extremely slow service. Upon arrival it took 15 minutes before we could order our drinks, and this only happened after we called the attention of the waiter ourselves. The service didn't seem to care and was not attentive at all. Once we finally ordered our drinks it took another 10 minutes before we could order our food. Once again we had to speak to the waiter ourselves. This lack of service continued throughout the evening. About 30 minutes later our food arrived at the table. Although the dishes themselves were fine, they were nothing special and certainly did not justify the high prices. Another disadvantage is that you cannot order small glasses of drinks; only large glasses are available, which may be inconvenient for some guests. The poor service overshadowed the quality of the food. During our visit we saw several tables leave because they were not helped and everything took far too long. Finally, after asking for the bill it took an awfully long time before we could pay. If you value fast and attentive service, Zum Landsknecht is not the right choice. This restaurant is not recommended for people without patience. Quite a nice view.

We wanted to enjoy a cozy cocktail to end the summer evening. The service staff gave us more than enough time (almost 20 minutes) to choose. But the cocktails were mixed together carelessly and seemed a bit watered down. Another negative was that they asked for salad with the schnitzel, which was later charged separately. This happens more often at restaurants, but this little bit of lettuce was certainly not worth €5.90 per portion! (Another tip: pepperoni on the flammkuchen are peppers, and not spicy salami!) Staff was not friendly. The answers to questions were short and not always clear.

High prices...we didn't eat...we didn't like what the others had on their plates. However, the view is a dream

Drenched in the rain, we sat down in the restaurant, which was so beautiful and attractive from the outside. It was drafty and cold, so we pushed the large open window slightly closed. Then the service person, who did NOT deserve this name!!, came and maliciously and stroppily pushed the window EVEN FURTHER OPEN!! with the nonsensical justification that it would otherwise break and that the boss had forbidden it. The food and prices were mediocre, but the drinks were even more expensive. Many dishes were removed from the menu. The waitress hardly paid any attention to us, even though there were very few guests there. Instead, she preferred to talk loudly with an acquaintance/friend the whole time. We were happy when we walked out of this unpleasant shop! The location and the view get the one star.

Friendly service, or as it should be. Frozen schnitzel. Bag of sauce with canned mushrooms probably extended with lots of cornstarch, miserable. This is bad takeout food. Way too expensive. You just have to read the reviews. But there are enough tourists. I'm not one to complain, but that was nothing, nothing at all.

Not all menu items on the street actually existed in the actual menu. Low “starting at” prices in the street advertising, considerably higher once you got into the restaurant for everything else. Got told when we ordered that we needed to order food and drinks at the same time, when we decided to leave the drinks were already prepared and we had to pay for them.

I have to agree with the negative reviews. We were dazzled by the location and appearance of the restaurant. Watch out, trap! When ordering, you are immediately asked about side dishes, you get the impression that the side dish is part of the schnitzel, but that is not the case. The awakening comes with the bill. €5.90 for a small cucumber salad. So just don't order a side dish. The food was very bad. It seemed like it had already been prepared and was now just reheated because we had the food 6 minutes after we ordered it. So it's better to give this tourist trap a wide berth

Very strange food, dried onions from a can, that a chef makes something like that, unimaginably bad

The waiter was telling off the customers, that should have seemed suspicious to me, but times are tough, so everything changes. The atypical setting, good location and beautiful view of the Mosel. The food was ok, not difficult a schnitzel and a currywurst. I asked the waitress for Ketchup and Mayo, she said yes, I'm still waiting. My husband ordered a beer, he found that it tasted as if it had been diluted with water and then the pompom billed him for €9.90 per bottle of water, mind-blowing. I made the remark, I was told that the price was indicated on the menu, indeed but the drink was taken before having the cards. In short, nothing to do, only arrogance. In my opinion, to be avoided.

We wanted to eat and drink there but after 10 minutes no waiter or waitress came. Then we just got up. So they didn't feel like working. So there is only one point for everything.

Terrible. I'll say it straight: go somewhere else.

0 stars! Cordon Bleu, potato wedges and a dollop(!) of mushroom cream sauce for €22 at canteen level. Cola 0.4 for €6. I've even eaten better food in canteens. The sauce from the bag, already clumping. The frozen potato wedges. Ketchup and mayo cheap brand from the discounter L... We are really annoyed that we didn't read the reviews that confirm our experience earlier. Unfortunately, the ambience and the view blind you. This is absolute audacity! We have never experienced anything like this!!

Warning, rip-off!!? Prices like those at the Oktoberfest in Munich and eating ready-made products with far too little on the plate... We should have read the reviews beforehand

Put off by the bad comments, we just wanted to watch a European Football Championship game here (due to a lack of alternatives) (which they also advertised with signs outside) We ordered two shandy and a coke - in the end the surprise came: the prices did not match those on the card (which we had previously collected), instead we paid almost €6 for the 0.4l of coke. The highlight was the TV being switched off without comment during stoppage time. When we asked to wait until the last minute, the only reply we got was that the waitress had finished work half an hour ago and we should go somewhere else where they're open until 12. This stay was a complete disgrace and we have learned to definitely listen to Google reviews in the future!

Friendly staff, food is quite good. Not as bad as some reviews, but not special either. The food is not expensive, but you pay a lot for the drinks (diluted coke).

Very bad food, way too expensive

I can only advise everyone not to visit this restaurant. Pure tourist rip-off. Food at the lowest level, but the prices are the exact opposite. Absolute failure.

Fried mushrooms were still frozen inside. A sauce for all dishes. Everything tastes the same. Ketchup and mayo from Lidl. Excessive drink prices. Absolutely not recommended.

Wie waren mit einer größeren Gruppe da. Kinder-Nudeln mit muffiger Soße gingen zurück. Ansonsten Fertigsoße zum Jägerschnitzel und alle Schnitzel (laut Karte vom Strohschwein) waren auf keinen Fall selbst paniert, sahen alle gleichförmig und nach TK-Ware aus. Das hatten wir vor einigen Wochen abends anders erlebe.

We went out to eat on July 4th, 2024 and can only advise against going out to eat. The quality of the food is very poor and the service is so lazy to sit at the table. It's a shame, given the location right on the Moselle you could expect more. Just a rip off.
