The view was amazing. The staff was very friendly. The food was okay. The drink prices were outrageous.

I usually write positive reviews or none at all, but in this case, I feel it's my civic duty to warn others about this place. It's dirty, the staff is unfriendly and overwhelmed. The only thing restaurant-level about the food was the price. The schnitzel tasted like Tillmans Tosti, the fries were pale, and the sauce came from a can. A 0.4-liter no-name beer costs €7. The price-quality ratio is pure robbery.

The schnitzel was fine (360g total). The steak should have been medium, unfortunately it was a bit too well done.

For a restaurant that probably relies primarily on tourists, the food was absolutely fine. We've had significantly(!) worse food in Cochem. Everything was hot and tasty.

What they serve there is a disgrace. Pressed schnitzel with flour sauce, and at a price that even surpasses good restaurants. Well, at least they're top-notch in that regard.

WARNINGS!!! RIP OFF!!! GROSS! Seriously tourist trap. Worst food, obnoxious server, across the street from the central trash dump, got charged 5 euro for a 8 oz glass of tap water, didn’t want to fight. Passed by and should have kept on walking.

I've rarely eaten so badly. A classic tourist rip-off. Only ready-made and frozen products. Poor quality and reheated. Drink prices are ridiculously inflated. The beautiful view is the only thing I can recommend.

We went there for dinner yesterday after a long day of cycling. I was looking forward to a delicious schnitzel. The food arrived and looked good. I had the champignon cream schnitzel. The schnitzel had been deep-fried and kept warm. The mushrooms were from a can, and the sauce was a ready-made one. It wasn't tasty at all and was lukewarm. The potato wedges were good and hot. I haven't had such a bad meal in a long time, especially when the dish costs €17.

The potato wedges and tzatziki were okay, but the schnitzel was slightly burnt in places. The welcome was a bit surly, and things didn't get any better. The best part is the view.

A smoky, drafty, second-rate "pub." When the chef and waiters smoke in the kitchen next to the food, that's a real disappointment. Great views, but the hygiene and cleanliness in the dining area are bottom of the barrel!!!

We visited this restaurant twice, the first and last time. The greeting was already very grumpy, and when we wanted to move, he became quite annoyed. Since there were only four guests in the restaurant, we didn't see it as a problem. The food wasn't particularly good either, as it was all ready-made. The tarte flambée was okay. Since the waiter had nothing to do, he refilled the cutlery racks at the table behind us, even though they were still eating. He could have done that for at least ten empty tables. The guests also asked for an extra plate, so he called out to his colleague: "They have special requests." Instead of asking us if we might like something else to drink, he preferred to sit on the chair. The icing on the cake came when we were paying: because we hadn't tipped for such poor service, he muttered, "You're running yourself ragged and you don't even get a tip." The best thing about this restaurant is the beautiful view from the upper floor, but that doesn't make up for the rest. We definitely won't be back.

A lovely, rustic restaurant in itself. The service was mediocre (rather uncaring). But the food was disappointing, especially for the price. As many other reviews indicate, the schnitzel is frozen, and in my opinion, that doesn't justify the high prices. Despite the reviews, we wanted to see the restaurant for ourselves, but I wouldn't visit it again.

The ambiance is quaint, the prices are higher, and the service is very good. It's not listed on the menu, but they also serve Coke Zero. The food came quickly and was good. The server didn't ask for a tip. I recommend it.

I ordered a schnitzel with fries, and the price was decent. But the drink prices are absolutely extortionate: €6.99 for a 0.4-liter beer or €5.99 for a 0.5-liter Coca-Cola is absolutely outrageous. Several customers got up and left the restaurant because of these drink prices. The fact is, at these drink prices, I personally won't be going back to this place.

Great location, drinks arrived quickly, as did the food. The food was average. The restrooms are in need of renovation. The hand dryer is so old, you're afraid to use it. The staff was very friendly.

Schnitzel-Haus… really? Before you read any further, just don't go here. There are plenty of other better places in Cochum: quite expensive, dirty, and unfriendly & slow staff. The schnitzels are straight out of the freezer section at Aldi, I'm guessing (since everything from sauce to drinks came from there). Nothing tasted good or fresh. The gurnard salad was a watery, disgusting cucumber mess. The fries were so salty my kidneys didn't function properly for 24 hours. And I think the mushroom sauce was from last week because we had stomach problems the rest of the day. The incomprehensible, smelly waiter also didn't quite understand what "EIN WURST" meant, since the order was also wrong... and when I pointed it out to him, I got a shrug. I made a big mistake by not reading the reviews here... but everything is correct, except the 5-star ones... I guess they're from family members or something.

If you buy a bottle of water 0.7 liters in the store for 35 cents and then offer it in the restaurant for 9.90 euros, it is really a rip-off

You pay 8 euros for a 50ml beer and 9 euros for a small glass of wine. The schnitzels were okay, but the fries were rock hard and bad for your teeth/fillings. The waiter is a bit grumpy, but when you're ready with your debit card, he suddenly speaks Dutch. 😀 The tables and interior are just disgusting... a great place for a group of drunk teenagers, but not for us.

It looked nice, but my schnitzel tasted like metal (due to the "serving pan"). Outdated schnitzel name (zig...). The somewhat overweight employee didn't fit easily into the narrow aisles and created an uncomfortable situation. All meant well. Just take tips with you.

Simple food, good to serve when you don't really want to eat anything special, but for example a quick bite... more expensive than indicated prices outside I think are for the small size schnitzel and not normal or large as indicated on the menu card...

Unfriendly Received the wrong food but paid a lot.

One star is way too many. First order was wrong - completely wrong dish. Correction order was wrong again. I was then asked to pay an extra €3 for that, because the correction dish (which was also wrong) would have been €3 more expensive. A disgrace. The "waiter's" argument – a disgrace. On top of that, everything is significantly overpriced. €60 for two people in such a "restaurant" with only frozen food (for two schnitzels with fries) and a drink – a rip-off! This "restaurant" should definitely be avoided!

Enjoy delicious German schnitzels in a charming, atmospheric restaurant overlooking the water. If you enjoy a down-to-earth atmosphere, you'll love it here. Dogs are welcome!

When I ordered a Hawaiian schnitzel, it had dead wasps in it. I reported it and said it was raisins. 😡😡😡😡😡

The table and chairs were sticky. The menu was also in disrepair. The service was very bossy, not particularly friendly, and pushy. The food came very quickly, but that's not difficult with frozen schnitzel and ready-made sauce. I don't think the pans instead of plates are bad, but the food is just slapped in, without any care. A small wheat coke for €6.99 is also a lot.

We ate there today, and I have to say we've never had such a bad meal out! The food was a) frozen, b) reheated, and c) tasted terrible! We paid a lot of money for absolutely terrible food. Absolutely not recommended. The location is great, but the place isn't worth a cent!

Within two minutes, we had our drinks, and shortly after, our food arrived, served in attractive little pans. The portions are generous. It's also very pleasantly decorated with a lovely view of the Moselle River. We did encounter a lot of flies, though. In short, this is a good place for a quick bite.

I really don't understand the positive reviews... You can easily get a schnitzel in Cochem that's much better than this one... No vegetables with your schnitzel, and it's on the table in a minute. The pan is literally slammed on the table, and the fries are way too salty. The tables are sticky, Yuck. The beer was good, but not good enough to wash away the aftertaste of the high bill. 15 years ago, I had the best schnitzel of my life here with gorgonzola sauce... it was delicious. There's nothing left of that quality. What a shame.

Nice staff and terrible food. They poured goulash soup on my schnitzel as a hunter's sauce. At least the beef chunks from the soup were still on the pork schnitzel. The schnitzel itself was a disaster. It was mushy; I suspect it was frozen, briefly thrown in the hairdryer or even in the microwave. You can serve this rubbish to the stupid tourists who only visit Cochem once anyway.

Absolutely awful! The schnitzel was half cold, felt like it was just took out of a freezer. The beer was barely cold and felt like still water. GO TO THE OTHER PLACE TO GET A LUNCH 100%%% Save you money( The prices are not pleasant as well.) Advice: most of the good restaurants mostly with german food open at 5 pm. Have a snack and just wait until 5.

Oh man, the schnitzel was inedible. Frozen cardboard schnitzel, I couldn't eat it. The fries weren't the best either. Unfortunately, I can only agree with the bad reviews. Maybe they should make the schnitzel fresh and pound it themselves. The only positive thing is that the server was really nice.

Very friendly man! This week in Cochem ate at several places, this was the tastiest, that's why we ate twice! Good schnitzel! 1x the hunter's schnitzel the other time the Greek schnitzel! Very satisfied! Also not that expensive. If we come back to Cochem we will definitely eat here again!

I don't even know where to begin! Absolutely the worst "restaurant" I've ever been to! Tables dirty...my husband's shirt was all over it. The food!? Was absolutely awful. Greasy, from the deep fryer. We wondered why it came so quickly. The schnitzel with sauce was simply disgusting. The currywurst too. The beer was completely stale. Mayo and ketchup are served in a tube. The prices are way too expensive! The whole place is filthy, including the restrooms! They take away your almost empty plate while you're eating. The public order office and the food safety authorities should definitely come and say hello! As I was leaving, I could see that the pre-fried schnitzels were lying behind the counter. Everything was absolutely dirty!!! Never again!!!!

I ordered a baked potato for €19.90. For that price, I got a potato the size of a lemon, the quark was bland, the chopped tomatoes were anything but fresh, as was the arugula. In short: outrageous for the price. The only positive thing to mention is the friendly, albeit untrained, staff.

There it was priced at €10.99. Before that, it said "ab*" in a very small size, almost unrecognizable at first glance. But since I didn't have a larger portion or any extra requests (like the asterisk at ab included) I assumed €10.99. Then the bill came and the shock: €15.99!! When asked, the gentleman said that it was the "easier" apple/raisin tarte flambée and I made a mistake and showed me the tarte flambée on the menu for €15.99. When I left the restaurant I checked again and it said €10.99 on the menu in front of the restaurant. So 16 € for a tarte flambée (!) and different cards in front of the restaurant with the small print "from*" to the actual menu in the restaurant, I don't think that's the best way.

In this restaurant there is the option of sitting both upstairs and downstairs. I chose a place on the ground floor and unfortunately had to wait 40 minutes for someone to come to me. When a member of staff finally came to me, it only took 5 minutes for my food to be served. Unfortunately I discovered that it was a frozen schnitzel. When I finally went to pay and still didn't see anyone after 50 minutes, I decided to leave without paying. I had never had such an experience before. It's a shame it turned out this way.

Disappointing experience – unfriendly staff and poor service We had dinner here with a group of 6, but it didn't feel welcome from the start. The six of us were crammed into a place that was far too small: three people on a double sofa. When we politely asked if we could sit somewhere else (while there were plenty of empty tables), we were bluntly refused. What made it even more uncomfortable is that even other guests commented on how cramped we were. The waiter responded with a laughing comment: “The tourists should be happy that they get a place at all.” A truly bizarre attitude. Hospitality seems to be hard to find here.

Wir hatten 2 mal Flammkuchen bestellt. Dieser war nach 5 Minuten bereits am Tisch. Vergebens die Shirmps gesucht. Beide Flammkuchen waren kalt. Darauf angesprochen bekamen wir zur Antwort.. wir bekommen die bereits fertig geliefert. Kritik konnte der Kellner nicht vertragen und äußerte sich mit den Worten: und tschüss. Dieser laden ist nicht zu empfehlen!!!!Überteuert. 10€ 2 Gläser Cola

Prices on the board at the entrance give a different impression than they actually are. The food was miserable (from the freezer??) Fried onion schnitzel - fried onions from the 1 euro can from Lidl, with NO sauce. So completely dry. Drinks as expensive as in star restaurants; But rosé wine wasn't wine, just grape must, unfiltered.

Very pricey store, choice of Senior Schnitzel, medium and XL. The medium schnitzel is half of a regular schnitzel 🥲. My wife asked for spring water and was given tap water for which 5 euros had to be paid. I ended up paying 50 euros for 2 small Schnitzels with fries, a glass of cola, a glass of Radler and a glass of tap water. So it was a huge disappointment, never here again.
