Schnitzel tasted good sauce was a bit salty. Fries fried in a hurry.. A glass of Coke cost €6.90. A beer cost 12 euros. Price quality ratio is below average.

The service is excellent, and the restaurant immediately invites you to linger. The food is delivered very quickly. This naturally speaks for the fast and not particularly exquisite cuisine, but it's tasty and the food is good.

Niet doen. Negeer de proppers voor de deur. Schandalig duur. Schandalige bediening en je wordt gedwongen cash te betalen. Is een tourist trap.

Food was good, but card payment didn't work

Only went here for drinks. The old guy serving at the front tried to tell us it was cash only. What he really wanted to say was give me cash and I’ll put it in my pocket! When we politely said twice that we had seen other people paying by card, the card machine suddenly appeared! This place isn’t cheap and having read the reviews after ordering our drinks we decided to eat elsewhere. Very much a tourist trap who won’t care about bad reviews. It’s 2025 and you’ve got idiots running a restaurant pedalling the “cash only” con - Shame on the staff and owners.

The waiters were very nice and friendly, but unfortunately, that's where the positives end. Cheap food for unfair prices. The "Metzgerwurst" was a slightly warm, cheap sausage from Metro, and the fries were quite okay. But what I've never experienced, not even at an old rest stop, is the cheapest mayo, ketchup, and mustard from Metro, carelessly packaged in plastic... The price management here is just not right at all. The kebab shop or the one on the corner would have been a better choice...

Don't do that. There are a few youngsters trying to push tourists, we gave them the benefit of the doubt which we shouldn't have done. Wine, GinTonic with a piece of bread 38,-. 4,50 for a glass of water. When we wanted to pay by card there was a failure of their payment system and we were told that one of us had to go and get cash to pay. We refused. A lot of hassle and he was going to call the police whereupon the card payment suddenly worked. Scandalous.

There's always room here. Special dishes to match the wine bar. We'd be happy to come back!

Very poor service, drinks extremely expensive, 11.90 for a small glass of gintonic, 7.90 for 2cl of wine...and at checkout the pin didn't work, had to try again 6 times, when we got fed up and said it wasn't our problem, she threatened with the police!?! Sorry? I want to pay but you can't? Go away dude, never go to this looser tent!

We werden naar binnen gepropped, eenmaal binnen hadden we meteen spijt, veel te hoge prijzen en bij t afrekenen werkte de pin niet, na 6 x wilden wij weggaan, niet ons probleem, maar toen werd er met de politie gedreigd! Echt, de honden lusten er geen brood van, ga daar asjeblieft niet naar toe! Uiteindelijk lukte het pinnen na 7 x, geen excuus, geen niks...never nooit meer

The absolute last thing I have ever experienced in terms of service and value for money. Small water €4.90, €6.90 for a 0.4l bitter lemon and the glass was full of ice. The waiter, an older gentleman (Alex), with pitch-black fingernails, was unbeatable in terms of unfriendliness. It was dirty everywhere and the regular waft of smells from the toilet brought tears to our eyes. It would really be a case for the health department!

Didn't eat anything, so we can't rate it. Drinks were average if anything. Water costs 4.90 😂 But the worst was Alex, super unfriendly for no reason and still saying things from a certain distance. Guests are certainly often stressful, but dealing with them like that simply doesn't have to be the case.

Frozen products, excessive prices

If you want to know what it's like to spend money on the gastronomic alternative to taste, quality and hospitality - then please, welcome to the Alte Weinwirtschaft in Cochem. It was an evening that I won't soon forget - unfortunately for all the wrong reasons. I ordered a cordon bleu hoping for something savory. What came was a sad, tasteless rag from the freezer. I'm sure the box this thing came in had more seasoning. Of course, it is sold for the price of a freshly prepared, hand-tapped masterpiece. Sure, of course. The fries? Without salt, without soul, without everything. I immediately suspected that they were served that way out of pure spite. When I then asked for a mushroom sauce, I was given a creamy substance that was very reminiscent of unfortunate school cafeteria memories - clearly ready-made sauce, probably only slightly warmed up so as not to ice my palate. Then the wine: I'm sitting on the Moselle, in one of the most famous wine regions in Germany - and what's in front of me? A simple water glass cup with white wine. If I were in a dentist's waiting room, okay. But here? Wow. Style has reached a new low. Mayonnaise and ketchup? But sure – straight from the tube from “Gut & Günstig”. Who needs small bowls or service when you can dose the stuff yourself like at a barbecue in the garage? And then the price: almost 10 euros for a bottle of water. This must have been magical spring water – perhaps imported directly from the Himalayas. Or simply: rip-off. And now comes the best part: Later, when we were sitting a few streets away at a really friendly winemaker's, he told us that almost all the restaurants in the area belong to the same owner. And suddenly everything fell together like a piece of a puzzle. The ready-made sauces, the water glasses, the cheap tube products, the lack of service - all part of an ingenious gastronomic strategy: give as little as possible, take as much as possible. So dear owner, here is my suggestion from restaurateur to restaurateur (or from restaurateur to someone who would like to be one): Maybe you should complete the “Gastronomy” chapter. Do something with a kiosk, maybe red and white fries on the side of the road - you expect little and are rarely disappointed. But please spare guests who are looking forward to good food and genuine hospitality. For me, this was not only the first and last visit to your restaurant, but probably the last in all of Cochem. I'd rather eat at home again - at least the frozen food is honest and doesn't cost three times as much.

Het oogde gezellig en knus. Eenmaal binnen besteld. We hadden vooraf een tomatensoep, deze stond binnen 5 minuten op tafel. Deze had ik nog niet voor de helft op en ze kwamen al met het hoofdgerecht. Het werd in onhandige koekenpannen op tafel gezet. Een grote schnitzel zijn gewoon 2 stuks en zat alleen wat friet bij en verder niks. Personeel was onvriendelijk en straalt niks positiefs uit. Nog nooit zoiets meegemaakt.

Please give it a wide berth. Subterranean food for outrageous prices. It's an impertinence to serve frozen, soggy schnitzel and advertise home cooking. Drink prices even more outrageous. 1/2 liter of water from a carafe Euro 9.90. Wine 0.2 l Euro 6.90...inedible booze.

The reception is particularly deplorable, especially if you don't speak a little German. The waiter, Alex, is aggressive and contemptuous towards foreigners. The service is quick and the food is satisfying. It would be better not to choose this place if hospitality is an important criterion for you!

Tourist rip-off, a case for Peter Giesel

We just wanted to enjoy a glass of wine in the evening and decided to sit outside in the terrace. The waiter let us know that the terrace would be closed soon but brought us the wine anyway. We drank the wine (of poor price/quality) and when paid without leaving generous tip the waiter was very rude - did not even say thank you or good night. We have rarely met that kind of unfriendly service.

We had 2 schnitzels with fried onions from the cup and 1 cordon bleu, all with fries, the portions were very manageable, the fries had little or no seasoning. The ketchup from the bottle had been expired for over a month. A draft beer for €7.80 is also a real joke. Service is also hardly available.

The old waiter was very arrogant and unfriendly. This man spilled half of your drink on the tray while walking to your table and was not friendly. When paying he just shouts: “Pay cash!” I would definitely not recommend this place.

Besser grossen Bogen um diese angebliche "Weinwirtschaft" machen. Cochem bekommt durch dieses Lokal (es gibt davon wohl mehrere) für mich einen ganz schlechten Ruf

Absolutely not recommended restaurant. Without looking at Google reviews, we sat down at a table based on the visual impression. The “instructor” and the waiter already had differences because the waiter was apparently responsible for allocating tables. It seemed very unfriendly and the atmosphere was very bad. The food was a disgrace, cold and not what was described on the menu. There was a Dutch family sitting at the next table who was unaware that in Germany you pay the bill at the table and not at the counter. The comment from the waiter “Alex” was outrageous and derogatory: “They should stay in Holland and not come to Germany”. I can't recommend this restaurant to anyone in a tourist spot like Cochem.

The setting is much friendlier than the servers. What's more, it's a real steal: €10 for a 75 cl bottle of water is unheard of. A shame.

A lovely restaurant with a very interesting interior. It’s cozy to sit on the second floor. They serve an amazing pork knuckle! The Mediterranean-style flammkuchen is also very tasty.

Alte Weinwirtschaft in Cochem – A surprisingly positive experience Before our visit to the Alte Weinwirtschaft in Cochem, we were initially put off by some negative reviews. But our experience surprised us positively! The ambience was charming and cozy, and the food was really excellent. We were particularly impressed by the quality and taste of the dishes. Although the prices are quite high, as in many tourist areas, but that is to be expected. A small downside was that no special requests could be made for the kitchen. Nevertheless, our visit was overall very pleasant and we would definitely recommend the Alte Weinwirtschaft.

Delicious food, good service, accidentally spilled coke which got over the food, new coke and a new plate of food for free within 5 minutes.....very neatly resolved and the food was delicious

Tourist trap. It seems many of the restaurants here are just tourist traps with the same owner. You can see them by the identical menus and marketing. The food was cheap fairground type but with Michelin prices. It's awful! The waiters were miserable and the older guy was weird and rude. He was muttering swear words about us and behaved very strangely. Then he demanded a tip quite aggressively. Obviously we did not. They desperately want you to pay cash, shouted at us 3 times, which is usually indicates they are avoiding tax or laundering money for criminals. I suspect the latter as these operators seem to have spread across the town in most of these tourist restaurants. Avoid if you want a nice meal and take an authentic German bar or hotel terrace.

The staff is really very friendly and it's a nice atmosphere. But the price-performance ratio is not right here at all. Steak with Bernaise sauce ordered medium, but arrived raw and with hollandaise. Cucumber salad used to look better too. Definitely expected something better for the price

From the outside and also the interior, the location looks great and convinced us to spontaneously eat there. The food (Schmitzel) came after less than 5 minutes and was okay. The service wasn't very helpful, had no idea about the wine selection, was just extremely friendly and didn't even ask how it tasted. Cochem is very touristy, I think we happen here more often... Hence the average overall rating.

I think it's a very nicely decorated restaurant and has a special charm in an atmosphere that fits the place. We were able to place our order very quickly, nothing special, Jägerschnitzel, 2x chicken schnitzel each with fries and drinks plus cucumber salad. It arrived relatively quickly and everything was very tasty. The waiters are very nice. One star less because we had to shell out around €85 for the above-mentioned menu.

Very cozy tent and good food, definitely recommended.

An absolute disgrace. 22€ for a baked potato with schnitzel. At most, I would have described the baked potato as a larger triplet. When I asked if that was really a large portion, I was told that the potatoes were smaller. When asked if you could get the dessert without raisins, you were told that the kitchen doesn't make any special requests. Think for nothing.

No, not recommended, overpriced and the food at the neighboring table is small... it advertises food that is only available seasonally and even a bottle of water costs 10 euros. Apart from that the ambience looked good, a bit crowded at times. And the conditions were also friendly.

Unfriendly service, the beer costs 7.90 and you get a cucumber side salad where it is suggested that it is part of it and then it costs 5.90 extra aioli with bread supposedly homemade comes out of the packaging just like the Jäger and Pusta sauce and the schnitzel very cheap goods from the frituese the fries are fried in fat that feels like they are 5 days old, never again no question whether the food was good from the staff or something similar an impudence in this shop please spend your money somewhere else 🙏

I ate there with my wife today, thinking it would be a delicious gypsy schnitzel, my wife an onion schnitzel. And then they were brought to the table by an unfriendly waitress. My wife looked at me and just shook her head. They also served a bottle of mayonnaise from Aro and a bottle of ketchup from Gut und Günstig. I've never eaten such a bad schnitzel. Nothing was made by them, what you tasted was old fat. We didn't eat it; the fries were in the same fat. The sauce we bought had no flavor, the onions were from a can. Not normally my style of writing a review, but even the schnitzel itself said the pig was killed twice. Therefore, all I can say is, it's a disgrace to serve it and charge a price of 16 euros. I can only say, better walk past.

We were kindly escorted to the table. Some of the cards were already broken on the front, but they fit the overall atmosphere with all the wood and old things. We were able to order drinks relatively quickly and the grape juice spritzer was definitely okay but not intoxicating. After a while we became aware that we also wanted to order something to eat. The waiting time for the food was okay at 10-15 minutes. The sirloin steak with red wine sauce and fries wasn't really hot when we reached it and I would normally have given it back, but we were just hungry. My friend's baked potato was a little darker than normal, the quark and salmon were fine as a side dish. The fries with my steak were also lukewarm. When my girlfriend ate the potatoes, there was suddenly a black spot in the middle of the potato, which was absolutely unacceptable. When we had the bill arrive, we pointed out the problem to the waiter and that they should please not put the potato on the bill, but the staff didn't do so. What we think is bottomless impudence and then acting ignorantly and cheekily wishing you a nice day almost borders on mockery and showed us that the staff don't care about their customers.

Dry, rubbery schnitzel, slimy sauce with no taste, some raw fries without salt, the waitress doesn't understand German (I don't really care if someone doesn't speak this complex language, but having to explain what a cola is 5 times is just really bad...), literally makes you gag. After paying, no goodbye or see you soon, just silence. What a tourist trap!!!!!

The food was amazing. The sauce was out of this world, and you can definitely tell it's homemade. It was a bit crowded, but we got our food pretty quickly.

The plus points are only for the restaurant itself and for the interior design!!!! The food tasted like warmed up mush, there wasn't even a side salad with the schnitzel. I'm just shocked at what we were "offered" there. You can choose between “normal” and “small” portions of food... well and good. Since we had a big appetite, we ordered a “normal” sized baked potato with poultry. A mini baked potato came with a chicken schnitzel. I've never experienced it in my entire (restaurant) life... for €21.90 you can probably expect a little more. Service inattentive. We then got ketchup and the like from the counter ourselves. Drink prices are also at the highest level… In my opinion HUI from the outside, Pf.. from the inside! We will definitely NOT be coming back! What a shame!

It was quiet but there were "reserved" signs everywhere. While no one was there and no one came during the time we were there. They arrived quickly to ask for our drinks... since we wanted to look at the menu first, the lady reacted very irritated that she came back so different. There was no smile or kindness on her face. In the end it took a while before we could order and get our food. Food was tasty but not spectacular. For these prices you would be better off eating somewhere else. Abnormally high prices for drinking iced tea 6.90 and Sprite 5.90. No sauce was served with the fries. Cutlery was on the table but half empty. Had to find cutlery from another table. Ended up waiting 10 minutes to pay. No one was on the work floor. Dredging tent. Definitely not recommended.

I'm not picky but the Winnerschnitzel I ordered was like it came from a chip shop. 0.2 liters of cola for €4.99 is absolutely amazing 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ So that you understand it 1 liter 25 €!!!!!!!

Von außen lädt die Wirtschaft zum Verweilen ein. Urig und gemütlich sieht sie aus. Leider hält die Wirtschaft dann nicht das, was sie verspricht. Das Essen ist einfach überteuert und hat die Qualität nicht. Die Getränke haben überirdische Preise, das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis stimmt in beiden Fällen nicht. Die Bedienung versucht zwar, aber kann nicht über den eigenen Schatten springen, tritt teilweise frech und arrogant auf. Aus meiner Sicht ist die Lokalität nicht zu empfehlen. Diese Tatsache scheint dem Eigner aber auch egal zu sein. Also Augen auf.

We noticed this restaurant as we walked past because it looked really nice, cozy and rustic. Unfortunately, that was it. The food tasted okay. The staff was very friendly. Price-performance ratio is not right here, for 4 small pieces of baguette with herb butter €5.90, small bowl of cucumber salad €5.90. In many other restaurants, some fresh vegetables are included in the portion ordered, but here everything costs extra. There are stars for the staff and the beautiful atmosphere.

Tolles Ambiente, das war es aber auch. Flammkuchen kalt, Bedienung gezwungen freundlich. Preis/Leistung passt überhaupt nicht. Achtung: "Zum Landsknecht " gleicher Eigentümer- guckt euch bitte die Bewertungen an!!! 1 Stern, da sonst keine Bewertung möglich

Völlig überzogene Getränkepreise, ein alkoholfreies Weizenbier 0,5 Liter für 7,80 EUR, das ist schon eine Hausnummer, die Qualität der Speisen war mit viel "Godwill" allerhöchstens ausreichend, das Personals sollte noch eine Gastronomie-Fachschule besuchen

We ordered our food (schnitzel) and after three minutes both dishes were on the table!!! What made me very suspicious was that both dishes tasted good. Schnitzel is super thin but no expense was spared on the breading. I felt like someone was wearing XL but S would have been enough. Two stars for the food because it filled you up, nothing more, nothing less and finally 😂😂 7.80 for a 0.4 non-alcoholic wheat beer in a really big cinema.

The food is an absolute disgrace. Marking the Champion Schnitzel as a tip of the house and then serving a ready-made Maggie sauce is really cheeky.. this place is a tourist trap!

The olives were tasteless. I think 9.90 euros for a carafe of water is quite extreme. It looks nice and atmospheric, but we will certainly not go back.

The optics are great and definitely let you expect something different. Tarte flambée was ok so far, but the "homemade" aioli definitely contained zero garlic both in terms of smell and taste, not even a hint and tasted of absolutely nothing else, completely tasteless. The accompanying bread, on the other hand, had a burnt taste because it was already black on the bottom. The young employees were so friendly, but it's kind of strange when you hear them talking to colleagues and/or acquaintances passing by in the "Ey Bruder" or "Digga" style, or they just go away for 10 minutes Admire my friend's new car 100m away. Well, this at least led to a certain memorability. 😅

There were 8 of us at the restaurant for dinner. Unfortunately the food wasn't warm. The advertised homemade aioli was not good. The bread that was served was probably from the day before. All in all we were not satisfied. The service was attentive and friendly. The ambience looked very quaint and inviting from the outside. Unfortunately there were too many signs which were confusing as some of the dishes offered on them were not even offered. In conclusion, for us, not recommended.
