Always a highlight! Traditional, old-fashioned inn-style. Excellent brewery cuisine at extremely fair prices. For us, it's still the highlight of all restaurants in this style. Highly recommended: the Kaiserschmarrn. The portion size is insane and comfortably serves 4-5 people or as a main course. The only downside: like many inns, it can get very loud with larger groups. We're already looking forward to our next visit to Munich—of course, to Dürnbräu again.

After seeing the top ratings, I had high hopes. I ordered the Zwiebelrostbraten, and it was mediocre at best. The salad was terrible, dressed in an obviously cheap, unpleasant sauce. To top it off, the bill came to 40 Euros! For that price in Munich, you can find truly excellent food. A massive disappointment and poor value for money.

Dürnbräu is always on my to-do list when I'm in Munich. Today I had a Wiener schnitzel. It tastes exactly like the picture. Simply delicious! The staff is always super friendly and, above all, on the ball!

There were eight of us here and we received a very warm welcome. Water for the dog was even provided right away. The menu left nothing to be desired, from the classic pork knuckle to Sauerbraten. To finish off the meal, we had a Kaiserschmarren (sweet pancake)! Here's a tip: one portion is huge and was enough for 5-6 of us! All in all, a very good place in Munich.

Was having a wine local and just after Arriving in the city had a look at local restaurants and reviews... had some fantastic reviews today...so we went. Fantastic service from Armin at the front door and continued... the Snitzel is magnificent & beers as well...Loved the Wheat beer and prices... wow, they made it a great first Night in Munich..

The atmosphere is actually quite nice and not at all crowded. Friendly service and clean restrooms. But: €17.80 for a mini portion of Käsespätzle, despite the generous side salad, is simply too expensive when you're still hungry afterward and wondering if the Käsespätzle was just the starter. It's a shame. The almost €6 for the blackcurrant spritzer unfortunately reinforces the unpleasant aftertaste. It's a shame. It could be better.

My husband had the best knuckle of pork he'd ever eaten, and I had a delicious salad. We were also warmly welcomed with our two small children and had a wonderful time.

One of our regulars. Very good food. A Kaiserschmarn (sweet pancake) that melts in the mouth. The dishes are very well-prepared and attractively presented. All in all, one of the more upscale restaurants near Marienplatz. We highly recommend it.

The food tastes fantastic and the portions are generous—which really helps my usual appetite. Definitely try the Kaiserschmarrn!!! Service is friendly and attentive! Unfortunately, it's often noisy due to the large number of guests.

Yes, absolutely. Located in a small alley in the center of the valley, the staff is very friendly, the menu is well-stocked, there's a beer garden in front and a large restaurant behind the house. The pork knuckle was very 👍

We had a wonderful evening at Zum Dürnbräu and would love to come back! The liver dumpling soup was 10/10, the cordon bleu was 10/10, the potato and cucumber salad was 10/10, and the service was simply outstanding. Heidi (a sweetheart!) gave us a warm welcome, and thanks to her, the evening was unforgettable. Our dog was also warmly welcomed and was treated to a drink before us (without asking). Thank you!

Great historical food spot that is off the radar for many visitors in Munich. English menus and staff speaks English. Great food and location just off Marienplatz. We enjoyed our entree choices. Bonus - they will make a small Kaiserschmarrn dessert for 10.90$€. Just ask!

Zum Dürrnbräu is THE traditional restaurant that should definitely be on your itinerary when visiting Munich; the food is excellent—but it's more about having been there once in your life...

The food was incredibly good. The waitress was okay, although she seemed a bit annoyed at times, but it was fine.

the food was great, but the one staff was not that great, curiously enough, at the end she just added a 10% tip by default, without even giving me the chance to say no, as she noticed we were tourists. this is odd enough to me as this is not the only restaurant in Munich that we have been to. we will certainly not come back here

A wonderful restaurant tucked away in Munich. I had white sausages with pretzel and mustard and the roasted duck it was wonderful. Their entrees were a decent amount.

Not a super fan of these old dark beer places, but hey, they have beer. Quick service, but there where no other guests there when we needed a beer.

Absolutely outrageous!!! I was there with two Italian guests for dinner at 6 p.m., and had registered at the entrance. At the table, the guests decided to just have a drink, then go to the hotel, and later have dinner. I explained this to the waitress when I wanted to order drinks. She was then thrown out, with the explanation, "It's dinner time now, we can't reserve the table just for drinks!"

Zum Durnbräu is a cozy and atmospheric restaurant right in the center of Munich. The food is delicious and perfectly paired with a good glass of beer – just the way you want it in Bavaria. The location is fantastic, in a beautiful spot in the heart of the city, so booking in advance is definitely recommended. We had booked inside, but the staff was very generous and eventually let us sit outside, where the atmosphere was even more convivial. Moreover, the prices are not higher than you would expect in such a prime location. Highly recommended for anyone who wants to enjoy good food, beer, and an authentic atmosphere in Munich.

While searching for good places to dine in Munich, we ended up here thanks to Google reviews. The place is quite large and tastefully decorated. Like many restaurants in the city, the staff is dressed in regional clothing, which gives it a very cool and traditional touch that greatly enhances the experience. Despite it being the May bank holiday, the weather was splendid, so we decided to dine on the terrace. It's a small but charming terrace, located in a sort of alley in the heart of the city. We sat at a shared table with a young German couple and had a delightful conversation. It was all very authentic. It was our last dinner in Munich, and we still hadn't tried the quintessential dessert: the Kaiserschmarrn. Since we knew it was quite a substantial dessert, we opted for a couple of beers and a single savory dish to share, leaving room for dessert. And then the Kaiserschmarrn arrived. Although it could easily be shared between four or five people, we managed to finish it between the two of us. We came to play… and we played. 🤣🤣😂😂 I'm more of a savory person than a sweet person, and I don't usually get excited about desserts, but… what a delicious treat! Just thinking about it months later, I'm already salivating… 🤤🤤 Good service and reasonable price. Definitely recommended, especially if you want to say goodbye to Munich with a good taste in your mouth (literally).

The beer here is great, but the traditional Bayern food is not so yummy as another restaurant I have tried. This pork knuckle has already had its skin and meat separate, and the lean meat is very tough. I don’t know whether it’s fresh or not.

We discovered this restaurant on Google Maps and decided to try it out spontaneously over the weekend. It was quite busy, but we were lucky and managed to snag a table for the three of us. The service was truly excellent – our server was super friendly and attentive. We especially appreciated that, when we were ordering, he specifically asked if it wouldn't be better for our daughter to replace the side dish with fries – very thoughtful and child-friendly! The food was consistently delicious, and the portions were truly generous. My Kaiserschmarrn was huge – delicious, but I couldn't finish it even if I tried. Overall, a very pleasant visit with a good atmosphere, delicious food, and friendly staff. We'd love to come back!

The best Schnitzel I've ever eaten in my life. I ordered Schnitzel which was marinated in mustard, the sweetness, saltiness and fat from the schnitzel was perfect. The crispiness of the schnitzel was also perfect! We also ordered Käsespätzle which was also really good. The service was top notch, beer and food came very quickly.

Definitely worth a visit. The small beer garden is lovely, and the Kaiserschmarrn is sensational.

A very nice place to go for lunch. It's not very big, but it's pretty. It has tables inside and outside. The waitresses wear traditional costumes. The food was the best we tried in Munich. It was delicious, and they have a wide variety of beers. 100% recommended.

Super fast, super friendly, super tasty

I found the place by chance, and seeing the Franziskaner acronym, I went in. Armin was immediately friendly and seated us in the internal garden. Service was quick and friendly, the food was good, and the beer was at the perfect temperature. The place isn't as noisy and chaotic as HB, and the service was much more welcoming. I ate the best Kaiserschmarrn I've ever imagined. I highly recommend it.

DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT… EXTREMELY RUDE AND CONDESCENDING STAFF. HORRIBLE TASTELESS FOOD FOR TOURISTS Extremely rude waitress exactly as mentioned by the other 1 star reviews… reserved a table for 5:00pm and got there 5:15pm and said they wanted table back by 5:50pm and a lot of things on menu couldn’t be made within the 35mins left so just ordered simple ham salad which was horrible and also vegetarian dumpling which was very starchy and flavourless. She rolled her eyes when we asked for condiments and cutlery which she didn’t provide enough for all of us. She had her back to us and was pointing back towards our table to another colleague who then also looked at us in contempt. Again like another reviewer mentioned that being non-European looking made them think they can treat us poorly with contempt. We asked for the bill many times and that was also slow despite her saying we couldn’t have the table for long. When paying the bill she had the audacity to ask for a tip.. I told her that her service is very rude so no tips for her. She was surprised someone dared say that to her but I hope she takes it as a lesson learnt and treat customers with respect and dignity in future. I doubt it looking at all the 1 star reviews dating back many years. They simply don’t care. DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU DON’T WANT YOUR DAY RUINED!

This place used to be the best german food in Tal with a friendly service: not anymore. Just had the worst experience ever. Some of the food is still good, but the service turned out to be terrible und unfriendly. I regret to have taken my family there and will not be returning with visitors ever again

Only called in to sample the amazing Spaten beer on draft. It is one of my favourite beers so had to give it a go in the city it is brewed in. The bar is tucked up a small alley. There is seating nutrient to the front and side and a massive amount inside so you won't struggle to get a seat. Staff were really pleasant Boo very welcoming. Which is always a plus. Beer was amazing. So fresh and easy to drink. It was just nearly 6 euros for a half litre so not too bad for a city centre bar. Will be back as the food looked amazing. Massive hearty portions.

Very cozy place with very good food.

Really great restaurant with big portion sizes and well cooked meals. The duck was really nice and very crispy. Great sauces to accompany the dishes too. I do wish their kaiserschmarn desert was offered in a half potion because the standard desert is just too much to order between two people. Otherwise, no complaints.

This would have been a 4* review. Let's start with the positives. The food is quite nice and it seems that they put effort into their cuisine. The waitress who was in Charge of our table did look after us well. It's also relatively calm (we went on Friday 5pm on a busy Champions League weekend) and peaceful atmosphere. But unfortunately the service from one of the other waiters left a lot to be desired. When we first arrived at the front of house to ask about available tables in the front outdoor section, one male waiter (tall, white, brunette, with a ponytail) condescendingly and impatiently told us to go to the back to the left of the restaurant. We spoke to him calmly asking if there are any free tables at the front we can quickly eat at (there were a lot of tables reserved from later on in the evening). He continued to repeat "GO TO THE BACK AND LEFT", condescendingly gesturing that way. Then we understood that there was an outdoor section at the back and left. That was all he had to say, instead he was incredibly rude. He did not lead us us our table, but just left us and joked to his colleagues in German "finally they understood" (thinking we couldn't understand German). His colleagues laughed along with him. Before this is dismissed as a quirk of this waiter, let me say that I saw him speak similarly to another couple of colour. Later on, however, he was friendly and jovial with a white elderly couple, leading them directly to their table. You can make your own mind up as to what this reflects of his character. When I spoke to him and told him he was quite rude to us earlier, he pretended not to understand what I was saying, then shouted after us "you don't understand!"

Forget the more well-known and touristy beer halls of the city. This is the best place in the center of Munich for authentic Bavarian cuisine. The atmosphere is authentic as the place has centuries of history. The food was impeccable. Whatever we tried was delicious and well-cooked. Among the dishes, we distinguished the schnitzel but also the pork knuckle. This is a must-try place for Munich.

A clear advantage: super close to the center, but on a quiet side street, ideal if you need a short break from the hustle and bustle. We ate and drank outside twice during our stay in Munich. The food is perfectly fine in terms of value for money; I recommend the knuckle of pork, the roast pork, and the Kaiserschmarrn.

We went four people. I got the first meal.(First pic)Roasted pork and dumpling(potato). We were here to see Germany and we are teenagers. I liked the food. The pork wasn't anything new to me except the dumpling. The texture was weird (something new to my taste) I wouldn't eat it again. I found the waiter there really friendly. His English was really good. He was smiling and we even had a small conversation. Personally, I found the restaurant really welcoming bc of him. He did come check on us too. He stared at us once from far. I count this more as him being curious about seeing people from where we are. The other two people that were with me felt like he was being creepy and didn't like the food. They also stated that they thought the waiter was checking on us because he was afraid that we would leave without paying. I don't see this this way. The toilets were clean. The only problem was that some of the doors wouldn't close and you had to hold them. At the end, I went to the waiter and said thank you for the wonderful service. He smiled and we did a handshake. This was a good experience bc of him. The other waitresses there were gloomy though. The inside wasn't really my taste of place to sit. That's why we say outside. The chairs were okay to sit but not for long.

Absolutely amazing! I’m not one to review but felt like I had to here - the food was great and the service was excellent. We’re tourists so wanted to pick out a good German spot. Felt very authentic and non toursisty which is what we hoped for. Our waiter (tall young guy with pony lol) was fantastic and funny.

The food came in 8 minutes and was very tasty! Price, quality and quantity are definitely worth it. After going to look at several establishments in the area, the atmosphere here was the most pleasant. The tables outside are spaced out and there is no privacy, but I guess that's the case everywhere.
