My salad was delicious; a little bread would have been nice. Roast pork was supposed to be lean, but unfortunately it wasn't. Service was good and friendly. Nice, quiet location in the city!

Went with a small group and had a whale of a time. Excellent beer (well, would it be any other way), quick service and very atmospheric surroundings. A great place to spend time with great people.

I sat in the garden and waited for my girlfriend for what felt like forever. The staff was super friendly. It's a truly relaxing corner of central Munich.

Only called in to sample the amazing Spaten beer on draft. It is one of my favourite beers so had to give it a go in the city it is brewed in. The bar is tucked up a small alley. There is seating nutrient to the front and side and a massive amount inside so you won't struggle to get a seat. Staff were really pleasant Boo very welcoming. Which is always a plus. Beer was amazing. So fresh and easy to drink. It was just nearly 6 euros for a half litre so not too bad for a city centre bar. Will be back as the food looked amazing. Massive hearty portions.

Very cozy place with very good food.

Really great restaurant with big portion sizes and well cooked meals. The duck was really nice and very crispy. Great sauces to accompany the dishes too. I do wish their kaiserschmarn desert was offered in a half potion because the standard desert is just too much to order between two people. Otherwise, no complaints.

This would have been a 4* review. Let's start with the positives. The food is quite nice and it seems that they put effort into their cuisine. The waitress who was in Charge of our table did look after us well. It's also relatively calm (we went on Friday 5pm on a busy Champions League weekend) and peaceful atmosphere. But unfortunately the service from one of the other waiters left a lot to be desired. When we first arrived at the front of house to ask about available tables in the front outdoor section, one male waiter (tall, white, brunette, with a ponytail) condescendingly and impatiently told us to go to the back to the left of the restaurant. We spoke to him calmly asking if there are any free tables at the front we can quickly eat at (there were a lot of tables reserved from later on in the evening). He continued to repeat "GO TO THE BACK AND LEFT", condescendingly gesturing that way. Then we understood that there was an outdoor section at the back and left. That was all he had to say, instead he was incredibly rude. He did not lead us us our table, but just left us and joked to his colleagues in German "finally they understood" (thinking we couldn't understand German). His colleagues laughed along with him. Before this is dismissed as a quirk of this waiter, let me say that I saw him speak similarly to another couple of colour. Later on, however, he was friendly and jovial with a white elderly couple, leading them directly to their table. You can make your own mind up as to what this reflects of his character. When I spoke to him and told him he was quite rude to us earlier, he pretended not to understand what I was saying, then shouted after us "you don't understand!"

Forget the more well-known and touristy beer halls of the city. This is the best place in the center of Munich for authentic Bavarian cuisine. The atmosphere is authentic as the place has centuries of history. The food was impeccable. Whatever we tried was delicious and well-cooked. Among the dishes, we distinguished the schnitzel but also the pork knuckle. This is a must-try place for Munich.

A very nice place to go for lunch. It's not very big, but it's pretty. It has tables inside and outside. The waitresses wear traditional costumes. The food was the best we tried in Munich. It was delicious, and they have a wide variety of beers. 100% recommended.

A clear advantage: super close to the center, but on a quiet side street, ideal if you need a short break from the hustle and bustle. We ate and drank outside twice during our stay in Munich. The food is perfectly fine in terms of value for money; I recommend the knuckle of pork, the roast pork, and the Kaiserschmarrn.

We went four people. I got the first meal.(First pic)Roasted pork and dumpling(potato). We were here to see Germany and we are teenagers. I liked the food. The pork wasn't anything new to me except the dumpling. The texture was weird (something new to my taste) I wouldn't eat it again. I found the waiter there really friendly. His English was really good. He was smiling and we even had a small conversation. Personally, I found the restaurant really welcoming bc of him. He did come check on us too. He stared at us once from far. I count this more as him being curious about seeing people from where we are. The other two people that were with me felt like he was being creepy and didn't like the food. They also stated that they thought the waiter was checking on us because he was afraid that we would leave without paying. I don't see this this way. The toilets were clean. The only problem was that some of the doors wouldn't close and you had to hold them. At the end, I went to the waiter and said thank you for the wonderful service. He smiled and we did a handshake. This was a good experience bc of him. The other waitresses there were gloomy though. The inside wasn't really my taste of place to sit. That's why we say outside. The chairs were okay to sit but not for long.

The food was well prepared and the service was welcoming. Managed to get a seat without reservation around 5pm, but it gets busier after that and the reservation would be required.

Somewhat curt waitresses dressed in traditional costumes. We only had one drink and it was almost lunchtime, but despite their unfriendly expressions, we were able to sit down.

Absolutely amazing! I’m not one to review but felt like I had to here - the food was great and the service was excellent. We’re tourists so wanted to pick out a good German spot. Felt very authentic and non toursisty which is what we hoped for. Our waiter (tall young guy with pony lol) was fantastic and funny.

The food was delicious, the Wiener schnitzel was very good! Unfortunately, there are no vegan options. The large salad was very bland, and the vegan dressing was just oil and vinegar. Nice and friendly service. A typical German atmosphere.

Definitely. The food was good and delicious, the staff very friendly, and I found it cozy and quaint.

The food came in 8 minutes and was very tasty! Price, quality and quantity are definitely worth it. After going to look at several establishments in the area, the atmosphere here was the most pleasant. The tables outside are spaced out and there is no privacy, but I guess that's the case everywhere.

It was extremely loud, perhaps because we were sitting at the large table in the middle.

Great atmosphere, where you feel comfortable. Portions are unfortunately small (and expensive), although tasty. Two stars deducted for the much too small portions; they could do better.

The food was okay, but unfortunately nothing I couldn't get better at home. The service could have been improved; it's not friendly. The downside was that, despite having a reservation, we were seated at a long table in the middle of the restaurant. With no more than 40 cm of space to eat, as the person next to us was practically sitting in your schnitzel. Conversation was impossible simply because of the noise. Because of the fact that you're sitting at that table, you have to sit opposite your partner. On the positive side, the food arrived quickly, so we were able to pay quickly and leave.

This restaurant offers excellent traditional food, with a great selection of seasonal dishes that truly highlight local flavors. The staff is friendly and welcoming, making the whole dining experience very pleasant. It can get a bit noisy at times, but that just adds to the lively and authentic atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit

A very classic Bavarian atmosphere with a Bavarian menu. Very good food with large portions. Prices are reasonable for a central location. Very friendly service. Reservations are recommended for dinner. Very nice outdoor area behind the restaurant!

May 13, 2025, 6:30 PM I discovered this restaurant the day before through a friend and thought I'd definitely go there for dinner. I reserved a table and was able to sit outside. I received a friendly welcome. I had liver dumpling soup and the roast beef with onions. Today it was absolutely delicious, and the meat in the roast beef with onions was very tender and delicious. I then had a couple of schnapps to unwind. Overall, a pleasant, satisfying evening on the terrace. The service and ambiance were great, and the food was also excellent.

I ordered knuckle with cabbage, but the cabbage was very sour, it was impossible to eat. The meat is good. The potato dumpling was not made of potatoes at all, but rubbery and tasteless.

Warm inside (on the hot side), patio seating is lovely. Schnitzel is great!!! Mustard pretzel breading on it is divine. Had a side of sauerkrat (with bits of meat). Highly recommend it

The food is incredibly tasty, the service is extremely friendly, and the inn is very nice.

Drinks and Domschnitzel were great! Unfortunately the pork knuckle is below average. It is extremely dry and the skin is bone hard and hardly chewable. The knuckle is pre-cooked for a long time and is served quickly. Unfortunately not recommended. I ate my best pork knuckle a week before at the port of Hamburg. Similar price, but very freshly cooked and perfectly prepared. At least the sauerkraut and dumplings were great.

We walked in and were seated right away, service was kind and attentive, the space felt like you were transported back in time but it was clean and tidy. The pork hock with sauerkraut and dumpling is delicious and giant! We didn't have enough room for dessert but the couple people beside us ordered a dessert that smelled like a sweet cake and freshly made to order. It didn't feel like a a tourist trap! To get a good idea of ​​Bavarian gastronomy, some dishes are surprising for Latins but really of good quality and very original!

The king pancakes and boiled white sausage were very good. I packed a large portion of pancakes and ate them for two days. They were very fragrant and not too sweet. The old waiter had a serious face, very German. The most important thing is that they don’t require tips! So conscientious!

Come eat the big pig's knuckle with the big pig's trotters, the big pig's trotters are good, the big pig's knuckles are also good.

We (2 people) were looking for a traditional restaurant near Marienplatz on Maundy Thursday evening to have something to eat spontaneously, without having made a reservation. As we quickly discovered - hopeless. Until we found the “Dürnbräu” a little ways away. A nice waiter sat us at a slightly larger table where two guests were already sitting. Location, beer and food were exactly as expected (great ambience, friendly service, delicious draft beer, good food).

Maybe the waitress was just having a bad day, but I haven't experienced anything so unfriendly in a long time. This left us with negative memories of the visit - despite the beautiful ambience and good food.

Very nice local restaurant in the heart of the tourist area. You wont go wrong with food and beer herein a relaxed atmosphere.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5 out of 5 stars – A culinary highlight in the heart of Munich On my last visit to Munich, I had the pleasure of dining at Zum Dürnbräu, a traditional inn with a history dating back to 1487. As soon as I entered the restaurant I felt the cozy atmosphere and warm hospitality that make this place so special. The menu offers a variety of Bavarian specialties. I chose the Wiener Schnitzel, which was perfectly cooked - crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. There was also a fresh potato salad, which tasted excellent. For dessert I chose the Kaiserschmarrn, which was served in a cast iron pan. The caramelized edges and fluffy texture made this dish an unforgettable experience. I was particularly impressed by the option to have both applesauce and stewed plums on the side, which gave the dessert an additional depth of flavor.    The service was attentive and friendly, even with a full house. The waitress took the time to make recommendations and made sure we didn't miss anything. I found the prices to be reasonable for the quality and portion sizes.  For me, Zum Dürnbräu is a must every time I visit Munich. The combination of traditional cuisine, historical ambience and excellent service makes this restaurant a real insider tip in the city center. 

Food was excellent, the staff were friendly, we were served quickly. Prices on the high side but average for Munich. We ate inside, and it was extremely loud due to the acoustics - I'd recommend eating outside if you can.

The Dürnbräu is somewhat hidden in a side street not far from Marienplatz or the Viktualienmarkt. But the journey there is definitely worth it. There is traditional Bavarian cuisine, the portions are large, the prices are okay, and the service is so nice and friendly. That's exactly how it should be, that's how you feel good.

Had the pork schnitzel with some extra sourkraut on the side. The sourkraut was splendid (the guess is that it was boiled in it's own brine with some butter, a splash of lard and small pieces of pork rind - sour and creamy at the time) and the schnitzel crispy and sweet-ish. Comfort food made with love.

Really good food with massive portions. I had the Schnitzel and Kaisercmschmarrn. Both really good. Probably the best traditional restaurant in Munich. Only downer was the really bad service. I had the menu thrown at me when I first got there and that one waitress was particularly rude. I got another one though who was more friendly. Quite blunt but that's just German service

A great little brewery, somewhat hidden away in a side street. Quaint atmosphere, very friendly staff, and delicious food. Perhaps a little insider tip as an alternative to Hofbräuhaus and the like.

Quaint inn away from the crowds, highly recommended. The main courses were very tasty and reasonably priced (for Munich). For dessert there was freshly prepared Kaiserschmarrn - a delight! The service was attentive and very friendly, we felt comfortable. We'll come here to eat again on our next visit to Munich!

13 January, 21:00. Terrible schnitzel (with upper layer separating from the meat) for 30 something euro. Is it a joke? Usually it happens when you first freeze and then warm them up. The waitress didn’t ask if we need a separate or combined bill and simply brought a combined bill which couldn’t be changed. Extremely loud inside, you need to shout to be heard. Will never visit again of course. Tourist rip-off.

Highly recommended. We were greeted very warmly, even though we arrived at the restaurant much earlier due to the cold. The waitresses were extremely friendly and accommodating. We felt very welcome from the first second. Food and drinks were very tasty (roast pork, sausage salad). We had a lovely time in the restaurant and would be happy to come back on our next visit to Munich.

Nice typically Bavarian restaurant, on a human scale and with friendly service. Special mention for the ham which was, against all expectations, a real culinary discovery for me, so different with its crispiness from what I had tasted before.

I found this restaurant by chance, as we couldn’t get a table at another restaurant. What a gem this restaurant is. The food and beer were so delicious, we came back for more to try other dishes during our visit. The service was also very good and efficient. It’s busy on the weekend, but weekdays should be ok. I highly recommend the pork knuckle :).
