We went to dinner at the Deutsches Haus with friends after strolling through the Christmas market and were extremely disappointed by the quality of the food and the prices. I know this restaurant from the past with its wonderful Baden cuisine. The food was bland, the Brägele without salt and pepper. And not crispy. It's a shame that this traditional house doesn't put more effort into preparing the food. A tourist may come once and leave again, but a local would like to eat out more often and feel comfortable there. Tip for the kitchen: try your food yourself and think about whether you would like to put it on your table at this price.

We had delicious cheese spaetzle and very good lamb's lettuce. The service was quick and friendly despite the full house. Nice, traditional atmosphere

Nice surprise! We ate at the counter because the restaurant was crowded and we breathed in the pleasant air of a typical German tavern. Friendly waitresses and very good food! Adequate prices (the only flaw is the high price of desserts). I highly recommend!

We took the käsespätzle two glasses of wine and an apple pie, every single dish and the drinks were superb! The owner is super nice and you can feel the love to the profession. Definitely coming back again!

The inn is a bit older in style, but I don't think that's a bad thing at all and it's close to the cathedral. The service had a bit of a myrical impression, but was friendly. The food was ok. It wasn't bad, but nothing special either. The meat from the Jägerschnitzel was too firm and the food as a whole was very lightly seasoned, but with additional seasoning it was good. A little careless presentation, but very good portions.

The food in this house is not good at all. The Maultaschen served were industrially produced Maultaschen, which you would also find in the supermarket. 17.90 euros for three small industrial dumplings and a bit of salad is audacious... if you just want to drink a beer you can go here, also because the service was really ok - I would steer clear of the food.

Yesterday I was in Freiburg for a concert and stopped in with my friend to have something good to eat. OK, we won't have the pork schnitzel, we'll treat ourselves to the better "Wiener Schnitzel of veal with Brägele" As soon as we ordered the “Wiener Schnitzel” was already on the table. I was very surprised that you can prepare a Wiener Schnitzel so quickly. Unfortunately I was very disappointed with the schnitzel! What can I say, the edges of the schnitzel are burnt, the taste of old oil, probably from the deep fryer. Was safely taken out of the fridge, thrown into the deep fryer, burned, placed on the "Brägele" and served. The waitress asks: “Are you okay?” whereupon I told her that the schnitzel was probably fried in old fat. She replies that the oil is used again for each schnitzel. My conclusion: the “Wiener Schnitzel” was almost inedible! Disappointing! Martin

This is exactly how German cuisine should be. I ate cheese spaetzle and it was very good. The mixed salad was great. All in all happy and happy again.

Unfortunately not quite as nice. Old and nostalgic there is no need for cobwebs in the dining room. Food was really okay. Service was rather poor despite fewer guests. You could do more with it. A pity. So cool and typical in itself.

I ate in this restaurant today on January 23rd, 2024. The dish I had was pork schnitzel with fried potatoes. What can I say...The food was super delicious, plus the friendly staff and a pleasant atmosphere. What more do you need? If you are visiting Freiburg and like German cuisine, you will be well looked after and catered for in the restaurant “Zum Deutschen Haus”. For me it's an absolute "must" when you're in Freiburg. That's why I give it 5 stars straight away. TOP! Gladly again!

Unfortunately the food 3 days ago wasn't as good as last year...🙄

I've never really eaten so badly... we ordered a rump steak and an onion roast with fried potatoes, but I got it with spaetzle (luckily because it was the only thing you could eat) Meat had a very strange taste and even though it was ordered medium rare it came through... everything was left behind.. the waiter was far too busy with his cell phone and didn't have the time to ask us why we hadn't eaten anything. Even where the food was ready, the waiter stood in front of the food with his cell phone and the food came to the table quite cold.. I'm speechless. Never again.

I can't give worse even if I would like... The worst rumpsteak I've ever eaten... even if eaten is a misnomer given that you couldn't eat it... non-existent service, always and only with the phone in hand. the "food" was ready on the counter but it was brought to me quite a while later... he didn't even notice that people were coming in... I asked for the bill after three minutes when he brought me the food he didn't even ask me whether everything was okay or not... and let's not talk about my wife's eating, inedible meat... the worst place we have ever been...

Einfach gute badische Küche zu einem sehr guten Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis. Historisches Ambiente, freundliches und kompetentes Personal runden den guten Eindruck ab. Wir kommen gerne wieder.

Am Heiligabend hier zu Mittag gespeist.... Gut das wir reserviert hatten, die ganze Zeit über kamen Gäste die hier speisen wollten, aber unverrichteter Dinge wieder gehen mussten. Sehr nette und aufmerksame Bedienung, das Essen hervorragend (Schäufele).... Gerne wieder.

Wir waren 15.12. zum Abendessen hier. Die telefonische Reservierung ca. 4 Wochen vorher hat einwandfrei geklappt. Wir bekamen einen schönen Tisch, die Bedienung war Superfreundlich und machte einen Top Job (merkte sich alle Getränke und Essen für 6 Personen ohne aufzuschreiben). Getränke 🍷🥂🍻 kamen sofort, das Essen war gut Bürgerliche Küche und alles schmeckte sehr gut 😋 Super Preis- Leistungsverhältnis 👍🏼 Ich kann die Gaststätte nur weiterempfehlen 😉

Ich war am 20. u. 21.10. mit meinem Sohn zum ersten mal in Freiburg. Anlass war das BL Spiel Freiburg - Bochum. Leider hat der VfL durch eine katastrophale Schiedsrichterleistung nicht punkten können. Versöhnlich stimmte uns der Besuch im o.g. Restaurant. Auch die Altstadt, einfach super.

Essen und Trinken top. Coole Gaststätte in Freiburgs Altstadt. Hier sollte man rechtzeitig reservieren. Ansonsten gibt es an der Theke immer einen Platz.

Das Essen war gut aber ich habe noch nie so lange warten müssen und Rechnung erstellen scheint auch schwer zu sein. Für Wurstsalat über ne Stunde Wartezeit, ist frech.

Spontan hat es uns "zum deutschen Haus" geführt. Obwohl einige Plätze besetzt und reserviert waren, wurde ne schnelle Lösung gefunden. Zudem war das Personal sehr freundlich und auf Zack! Das Essen waren sehr lecker. Ebenso das Pils und die gekühlte Cola 😊.Gerne kommen wir wieder,wenn wir nochmal in Freiburg sind.

Très bon accueil. Chambre confortable spacieuse. Une climatisation fonctionnelle qui était la bienvenue. Très joli jardin. Ligne de bus juste a la sortie de l' hôtel ce qui est très pratique pour gagner le centre de Fribourg.

Lugar para salir del paso y llenar el estómago. Fuimos a hacer free tour y nos recomendaron sitios turísticos y al ver a través de las reseñas que este era más “castizo” decidimos ir a probar y salir de lo común. Poca variedad en la carta, te la dejan en español. Restaurante con terraza e interior muy antiguo y nada cuidado. Cuadros que si muestran que es un lugar antiguo pero por el cual no han apostado en limpieza ni cuidados. El personal no destaca por su amabilidad y las cervezas son alemanas pero no hay variedad. Pedimos para salir del paso ya que nada era 100% típico de Alemania. Escogimos finalmente un escalope empanado y lentejas con salchicha y pasta de patata. Comida como indico comestible para salir del paso, pero nada fuera de lo común. Cierra antes de las 23h, nos atendieron entrando a las 20:30h pero personas que entraron a las 21h no fueron atendidas. No fotos prácticamente de interior en esta reseña ya que estábamos prácticamente solos y me parecía algo violento.
