I ate here with my boyfriend, and I don't know who that is, but it might be the owner of the restaurant. She was incredibly rude to us because my boyfriend accidentally played a video on his phone at a relatively low volume, but she immediately said, "Could you please keep the volume down!" Huh? What's that all about? This is a restaurant, and we have to be quiet?? Hahaha, such strange people! If we, as guests, are going to be loud, no matter what, whether it's playing a video loudly or whatever, that's irrelevant! We have to talk to each other, not just eat, and not with sign language!

Best currywurst hot dog in town. Great place.

Maria Bar in Freiburg impresses with creative burgers, good cocktails, and a lively atmosphere in the heart of the city. Ideal for a fun evening with friends. A bit noisy during peak hours, but overall a stylish, modern meeting place.

The food was fine. Unfortunately, recently we've had to eat out of dog bowls and from prison-sized serving trays.

Just before my night shift, I fortified myself with a delicious homemade lemonade. The bar offers plenty of space, both inside and out, and there's a good selection of vegan options. The waiter was very friendly and attentive. On my next visit, I'll definitely try one of the vegan dishes.

Very, very tasty burgers. Super juicy, prepared and well-balanced. The crispy fries are 'regular' fries, which I like better than the curly fries. Also highly recommended; super crispy. The dips that accompany them are also delicious and you can order more (for an extra charge). Service was always friendly and courteous. All in all, a great place if you want a burger. Update 2025-10 New menu, new burgers. Very tasty again. The fact that the cutting board is gone makes eating more difficult, but it certainly speeds things up in the kitchen.

They don't adhere to the company's regulations; for example, changing time isn't considered working time. Tips were pooled, etc. Apart from that, the boss was unfriendly, and the food was just OK at best.

Unfortunately, they're no longer serving the Achilles Burger :( The food is still delicious. The staff is friendly and very quick. The prices are a bit high, but you can treat yourself every now and then. The cocktails are especially recommended. Both alcoholic and non-alcoholic cocktails taste great 👍

I don't know what they're doing in the kitchen here, but it's nothing short of magic, the food tastes so good here. I've never eaten such good curly fries, it's a dream, and the burgers, oh, just perfect. Friendly service, cool music, and atmosphere. I was here on New Year's Eve, too, and the bar and drinks are really great.

We were in Freiburg with the class on a graduation trip and decided to go here for dinner. And what can I say, it was a very, very good decision. If I'm in Freiburg again, I'll definitely come back.

I've been there many times years ago and always enjoyed it! Unfortunately, today I discovered that the place has completely changed. The burgers are smaller but more expensive, which was still acceptable given inflation. Unfortunately, the taste was no longer convincing. The service was nice, but they unfortunately mixed up pretty much everything.

Good food, good drinks menu, a bit on the high side but reasonable. The burgers are excellent, I just miss the 2 for 1 specials. Often very crowded.

I have mixed feelings. I ate two dishes at your place: the goat cheese honey burger and the veggie chicken burger. The first was very tasty, not the best, but still good. The meat had a nice crust on the outside, as befits a (semi-)smash burger. The curly fries (twister fries) that came with it were also crispy and, above all, plentiful. So, for its rather hefty price, the meal is filling, which is why the price isn't too high after all. These days, you'd pay €16 for a burger and fries. After what was actually a great evening, we returned to the restaurant a few days later. This time I tried the vegan chicken burger (truffle). I've had some terrible burgers, and this one easily ranks up there. It was like a four-year-old had put too much sauce on a boring burger. It tasted even worse. With every bite, I thought to myself, "If only I had gone to the McDonald's next door, I could have gotten better veggie burgers there, too." A flop. I'm giving you three stars, but if I come again, I'll stick with the meat burger.

Additionally, the seating selection isn't particularly extensive, and unfortunately, they don't accept reservations for the patio. Overall, it was a rather mixed experience, even though it had potential.

A burger joint right in the city center, popular with locals. Wide selection (including vegetarian and vegan options). Excellent burgers, generous portions of fries. Not the cheapest, but you pay for quality. Recommended!

I recently visited Maria's Bar for the first time and I'm absolutely thrilled! This bar is a true gem. From the very first moment, you feel incredibly at home thanks to the stylish and cozy ambiance. ​The absolute highlight of my evening, however, was the service – and I have to particularly mention Siri! I've rarely experienced such attentive, friendly, and competent service. Siri always had a smile on her face, a fantastic recommendation at the ready, and with her professional yet relaxed manner, she made sure we lacked nothing. You can immediately feel her passion for her job. ​The drinks were excellently mixed, the atmosphere was fantastic, and Siri's service made the evening perfect. ​I can wholeheartedly recommend Maria's Bar and will definitely be back soon. A huge thank you to the whole team and especially to Siri – keep up the good work!

There's a large vegan selection, and it's clearly labeled. The burgers are delicious. Service is nice, but less attentive when it gets too busy. The second round of drinks wasn't so good. They tasted a bit watery.

For me, the Maria Bar is a staple in Freiburg's city life. Here, you can relax, enjoy delicious drinks, and eat well – exactly what I, as a city dweller, want. The atmosphere is pleasantly relaxed, and the staff is always friendly, attentive, and helpful. I especially like that you can spend a pleasant time with friends both inside and outside. The selection of burgers is creative, and the quality of the food is consistently excellent. The fast service and pleasant atmosphere also always impress me. If you appreciate good food, a wide selection of drinks, and a relaxed atmosphere, the Maria Bar is the perfect place to be – I'm always happy to come back!

I was pleasantly surprised! The burger joint boasts a great ambiance – modern, cozy, and inviting. The staff were consistently friendly, attentive, and helpful, which made the visit even more enjoyable. The prices are absolutely reasonable, especially considering the quality and portion size. The food and drink selection is impressive: In addition to classic and creative burger variations, there are also vegetarian options, side dishes like sweet potato fries or chili cheese fries, and a good selection of soft drinks, craft beers, and homemade lemonades. An all-around successful experience – I'll definitely be back.

The food is generally good, as is the service. But for some reason, our waitress forgot to record our order, and about 30 minutes later, another waiter asked if everything was okay. The waitress apologized, but the food still didn't taste the same after about 45 minutes.

Not recommended! All the burgers we ordered were dripping with grease and sauce. The meat was very limp and the bread was soggy! The "homemade" iced tea is just ice with syrup!! Considering the prices and the loud atmosphere, the food is nothing! This place is for teenagers looking to get drunk.

A very large shop with two entrances and a large outdoor area. Friendly and attentive service. They specialize in burgers. We had a pulled beef burger and a chicken burger. Both were delicious. The value for money is good: burger, fries, and beer for around €25.

The burgers were always a 10/10 for me, but the menu changed, and what I don't understand even more is that the delicious burger sauce was replaced with ketchup and mustard. It's a real shame.

This was definitely a favorite spot in Freiburg, with cool service. I ate there recently... the quality has declined so much... I was just so disappointed :( My burger just tasted like ketchup... It must have reminded me of a well-known fast-food chain. And the cocktails... have declined significantly in quality and taste! Please get back to how they used to be! :)

The restaurant has a very pleasant, open, family-friendly atmosphere. The waiters are very attentive and fulfill all your wishes. The food, in my case the Mykonos with Love, and salad were simply fantastic. A gentle explosion of flavor. 🤩

I gave them 3 chances over 2 years. It was a mistake every time. Undercooked food. Orders not served correctly. Servers blaming customers. Long wait times for orders...NEVER again. I knew the former owner. When talking about this place, even they say, ''I am not responsible for anything going on there now.'' I see the owner's responses on other reviews: No, your staff is not praised. When several people are leaving the same comments (example, your drinks), get a clue and stop making excuses. Edit for reply to owner: ''ownership not changed in 13 years'' Irrelevant. ''virtually impossible for patties to be served undercooked...'' And yet you have many low reviews for exactly that reason. hmmm.... ''Our team receives a great deal of positive feedback daily.'' Not in your reviews, which you obviously don't pay attention to if you can write this. ''...find a place that better suits your expectations.'' As I'm not a picky person, that includes nearly every place in Freiburg except you and 1 other.

Four of us went to the Mariabar on Sunday, and the food and service were excellent. The service team was excellent, courteous, and friendly, and accommodated our every request. A huge compliment to the young lady. We'd be happy to return.

Maria Bar is located in the heart of Freiburg's city center. There's plenty of space here, offering a selection of burgers, wraps, hot dogs, and salads – there should be something for everyone. The burger I had was very tasty, and the fries were excellent. The service was very attentive, fast, and polite – you couldn't ask for more. In my opinion, the price and quality were excellent. The only thing I found a little too loud was the noise level, but that's just a snapshot in time and could be completely different on a different day of the week at a different time (I was there on a Saturday evening). In any case, this place is highly recommended for those who want to eat good burgers...

It's become disproportionately expensive, and unfortunately, the quality and taste have also deteriorated considerably, which is a real shame. The service: well, you're offered shots, and only after you've finished drinking them do they tell you it's going to cost you something – we were probably too naive… Still: poor communication, a bit reminiscent of scam sales on vacation. At least they responded kindly to our complaint – whether that helped, I can't say. It's a shame – it was definitely our last visit.

The Maria Bar really has something going for it: the staff was super friendly, the welcome was warm, and the food tasted really good. Service was top, the atmosphere was great – everything went smoothly. But then the bill came and that's when it all came crashing down: I was ripped off and paid significantly more than I was supposed to. I don't know whether that was an "oversight" or whether the waitress brazenly pocketed a tip for herself, but that's not possible! 😡 Despite the good food and service: This rip-off really spoils the impression. Next time I'll check the bill more closely!

I was a little disappointed when we were there on April 21, 2025. The burgers are getting flatter and then priced at €18. The sweet potato fries came with a surcharge of €1.50. The lemon flavored iced tea was not iced tea. So I've been there several times and the portions were always good but that was sorry like at McDonalds. And what is absolutely not possible and what I don't understand is why do you have such heavy chairs at the tables? I almost couldn't move it. Please change. If there's an older person there, they can't move the chair.

The new changes to the menu are absolutely disappointing! The burgers only taste like ketchup and mustard. I enjoyed eating there regularly for 5 years. As long as the new menu remains, I won't eat there again.
