Insanely beautiful restaurant/café to feel good! The location is unique with a view of the Black Forest and the furnishings are casual and stylish at the same time. The best thing, however, is the people who work there, always friendly, polite and all around excellent service. The food is also super tasty, always fresh and made from regional ingredients - for me it is therefore one of the best addresses in all of Freiburg! See you soon again at Hermann! :))

Unfortunately you are only welcome here with a stroller when the baby is sleeping?! Understand that you want the seating to be as close as possible and strollers can therefore get in the way. Nevertheless, I find this blanket approach quite family-unfriendly and a real shame. If the baby can't sit yet, a high chair isn't a solution... and eating with a child in your arms isn't so cool either. Therefore: thumbs down, we won't be coming back, but we were always happy to be guests.

I enjoyed coming here. Good value for money. Good cuisine. Hearing pummel on the toilet was always great. Nice stuff. Except for a young lady with glasses and long dark blonde hair. It is also the reason why I will no longer consume there in the future.

Very nice and attentive (young man) service person! I would like to emphasize explicitly! Unfortunately, the lamb's lettuce, although tasty, was too expensive. There were also raw vegetable salads underneath the lamb's lettuce, which of course made the proportion of lamb's lettuce much smaller. Unfortunately, I read the menu too late, where it was described differently (lamb's lettuce, mushrooms). Unfortunately, I missed the direct complaint, but the price/performance ratio just isn't right. Too bad.

Beautiful, urban, exceptional architecture, great panorama. The food is fresh and of good quality. Not the cheapest but you can enjoy the amazing view. Also practical if you bring guests to the train station and want to have a cup of coffee beforehand! The only drawback: no flavor syrup for the coffee…

We had our Christmas party here with coffee and cake. The booking was problem-free, the staff was very friendly and everything was simply uncomplicated. It's a nice ambience with lots of windows and nice lighting. The next room was made available to us and the atmosphere was set right away with Christmas music. The selection of cakes was very good and extremely tasty, as were the coffee and drink specialties.

Ambiance is nice. The menu selection is good. Plus point: Great roof terrace in summer. But: very loud. Coffee just average and prices (for the quality) a bit high. Overall, if you want to grab something to eat/drink before or after a train ride, we recommend it.

Absolutely recommended! The food and drinks were very tasty, the atmosphere was cozy and inviting, but special praise goes to the staff! We were very warmly and competently accompanied throughout the evening by our waitress. You and the team even made special requests possible for us. All in all a lovely evening and definitely on the list for the next Christmas party!

Great cake and cappuccino, search without caffeine

Hermann Cafe has ruined avocado toast for me. If is not Hermann’s I don’t want it! But seriously, the best avocado toast was the best I have ever had. The pickled vegetables were a delicious surprise, and they did not skimp on the avocado. The vibe and service in the café were wonderful. They accommodated my family with a baby in family style seating and the other patrons seemed unbothered. The atmosphere was upbeat and friendly and food came out quick.

In the café you can pay a whopping 50 cents more for oat milk. A full liter of Oatly costs €2.30. Is there tap water in a normal cappuccino or what justifies this audacity. The Black Forest milk also costs just under €2. The organic food that you can get in every good café in Freiburg costs €2.20. Just a rip off. And then you get bad milk foam. It's best to avoid something like that.

Great location right next to the train station, you can also sit outside. The regional food is very tasty and at a top price-performance ratio. It's always very crowded here, and rightly so, but there are plenty of places available

Always loved coming here during my time in Freiburg. The brunch menu has a lot of options. The coffees are always very nice. The upstairs area is also a nice place to sit and have a few drinks with friends. The staff are always very happy to help and are very friendly. The food is always very good.

The extra charge for oat milk is so lame... you can do better.

I went to breakfast with a friend and the reception we had was embarrassing. For moving a table about 10 centimeters, the "manager" (blonde with curly hair) looked at us with a dog's face while talking to a colleague, and she didn't change her bad face even though I was looking at her. Her words were rude, although she said she didn't mean it meanly, the tone and face were not normal. There were hardly any clients, there was no stress or anything to justify his behavior. It's a shame, the food wasn't that bad and the views were nice, but she ruined the moment. I have to say that the waiter who served us was very friendly.

I parked here briefly while my wife wandered around the flea market. The homemade lemon-ginger lemonade is a blast of freshness, definitely recommended!!!

We would definitely go here again for something to eat and/or drink :)

Stars are given for the great location, the roof terrace and the potential this place had. There is a deduction for the really unfriendly staff and the below-average size of the above-average iced cappuccino.

We only sat outside but it was lovely, casual and with a view of the train station/rails which gives you a bit of wanderlust. The food and drinks were great and the service was also very nice. We'll be back :)

Wir waren mit unserem Kleinkind zum Frühstück hier. Es hat uns allen gut geschmeckt und der Service war sehr freundlich, schnell und zuvorkommend.

They were friendly, but we gave the atmosphere a 2* because it was 35°C and the interior was closed, there was only a terrace option. There are few menu options from 12 to 4 p.m., I think 6 dishes, 3 of them gluten-free. The pasta was spicy and seeing that they didn't warn and it was for a child, they quickly brought him some spaghetti with cheese and butter without having to ask for it. But they charged us 6.40 for 2 glasses of tap water, it should be prohibited, nowhere else on our route has this happened to us.

Enjoy your meal. However, sexist comments from the waitress, so I wouldn't come back.

Very tasty and chill breakfast here, lots of vegan options and other tasty things. There are a lot of wasps here, which was disturbing, but the staff put smoking cups on the table and this helped!

Directly at the main train station. The roof terrace really invites you to linger and is very large. The actual restaurant on the floor below is nothing special. The service is great and very attentive. The people in the kitchen do a very good job - it tastes really good. Nicely prepared salad. Large portion for the main course. Price performance absolutely fair. Gladly again.

I order fried rice with chicken from the weekly menu and as I started eating my dish, which did not taste great and doused in soy sauce I found that one of the pieces to chicken breast was raw. I immediately notified the service staff who were very apologetic, they took my plate and brought me a new one, I did not want a new one, but whatever. I expected at least to not have to pay for the dish with raw chicken but I still did, as a reconciliation they offered me a free dessert or coffee. I think that this is unacceptable. And it’s a shame because I came here many times before with no issues.

Honestly, the food is excellent! I tasted 2 different dishes and saw 3 being devoured, and I can say that everything was really very good. The service is also perfect: we took our time (30 minutes to choose the dishes, anyway) and the waitress, who came 3 times, left each time with a big smile. And not only is it good, but it's also very filling. Really an excellent address. Come on, you always have to find something to say: avoid going through the road level, prefer the station footbridge, or the footbridge right next to the station, because the environment on the ground floor is frankly average and not necessarily very well attended. If, however, you pass by there, in the parking lot you will find an elevator which will take you to the footbridge, where the restaurant is located. Enjoy the moment!

I stopped at Hermann Cafe in Freiburg for lunch and had an amazing experience! The rooftop cafe offers a stunning view of the city, making it a perfect spot to enjoy a meal. I had a delicious vegetarian salad, and it was so refreshing to get some fresh veggies after eating a lot of unhealthy food. The limoncello spritz was a perfect accompaniment, and the gentle breeze added to the lovely atmosphere. The service was outstanding! Even though I don't speak German, the staff was incredibly kind and helped me navigate the menu and get connected to the WiFi. This place is a gem for anyone exploring the city, offering friendly service, great food, and beautiful views. 10 out of 10 would recommend!

Trotz Platz 8 Leute auf eine Festzeltgarnitur gequetscht. Wurst / Käse Angebot nicht gekühlt oder abgedeckt unter freiem Himmel. Zudem echt wenig. Kein Frischkäse, keine frischen Tomaten, Gurken, kaum Obst bis auf Deko, 3 Müslischälchen pro 8 Leute. Kein Ei etc. Keine Empfehlung

Great staff with good food in a very central location close to Freiburg main train station. When the weather is good you can see the Schauinsland. Card payment also possible with Apple Pay.

Came here spontaneously to take advantage of the transfer time to the next train. The roof terrace is great 🙏. Was served quickly and friendly. And where are audio books playing in the toilet? 😂🎉👍🏻. For Pumuckl there is 5**** extra. I'll come back when I'm back in FR soon.

We were here on Friday July 12th around 2 p.m. and actually wanted to drink a coffee and eat a waffle. There were no waffles due to the broken waffle iron, according to the waitress there were no cakes either and pancakes were only available at breakfast times. Strange coffee without cake and other sweets. We then got up again and left.

Super delicious food, great staff and the best Aperol in all of Freiburg! :) The café is a really absolute must when you are in Freiburg! Not only can you go to the café at lunchtime, the atmosphere is wonderful in the evening too! There is super delicious food (also vegan and vegetarian - mezze is so delicious!) and the price-performance ratio is absolutely great! The staff is so sweet and attentive! The Hermann is the best café/bar/restaurant in all of Freiburg! ... and don't forget - everyone drinks an Aperol - it's sooo good! :)

Went there for the second time for breakfast as we liked it last time. The café is nicely decorated, well located, a bit too many tables. Unfortunately the menu has been changed, there are only a few dishes available at certain times. The Shakshuka was with carrots and potatoes, a bit unusual. The omelette was totally over salted. I gave it two stars because of the nice service. I was given water, but I was nauseous all day. Don't come back.

Highly recommended location, right next to the main station, but you don't see much of the trains. The food was so delicious too; The only criticism would be that the gnocchi was dripping with oil.

They are signposted as a nice toilet but at the CSD they charge €1 to use the toilet. Absolute impudence. Then they shouldn't call themselves a nice toilet...

Vinimos aquí a media tarde en busca de una cerveza y un aperitivo. Fuimos por el gofre con crema de tarta de queso, bayas y galleta, no decepcionó era de alta calidad y fácilmente lo suficientemente grande como para compartir como aperitivo de la tarde. La cerveza fue servida en botellas y más caro de lo que hemos pagado en y alrededor de la ciudad, pero se llega a disfrutar de un entorno en la azotea con vistas de los trenes, así que no demasiado inesperado. En total pagamos 20€ incluyendo propinas y tuvimos unos agradables 40 minutos. El servicio era bueno.

It can get crowded here in the evenings, so make a reservation or bring some time with you. When it comes to the food selection, there is a lot of salads, soups, tarte flambée or pasta/gnocchi. But also mezze, baked potato. So a colorful selection. There is also enough for vegetarians to choose from and also for vegans. The food is good and the cocktails are good too.

I can only recommend the vegan waffles! Service was good, prices were okay. Maybe there will be more vegan options in the future🫶🏼

Es gibt verschiedene Frühstücksoptionen, am besten ist die Bowl, das ist eine riesige Portion. Auch in vegetarisch oder vegan gibt es einige Optionen. Beim Avocadobrot war die Portion etwas klein. Wenn es voll ist, wird es schnell laut. Der Service war sehr aufmerksam.

Was here for the third time for a late breakfast and always got a seat spontaneously. The food was always super quick, decently sized portions and very tasty! In addition, the service was always very quick and friendly, no matter how busy it was. Would go back at any time :)

I really liked the wide age range of people who visited this place. They served tasty drinks. It was noisy, from all the guests, which I guess is a good thing. They ask you to follow their rule of being given a seat, which I find very good.

After my complaint, I was sent a voucher, responded quickly, thank you for that. My next visit was great. Food, service top. Will definitely come back.

A very nice place with a cozy atmosphere. Unfortunately, for my taste, there are very few hearty dishes for small appetites. But the food is absolutely delicious!
