You can have a great breakfast here. The portions are large, the food is delicious, and the service is fast and friendly. It's right next to the main train station, which is great if you have a bit of time before your train connection!

The restaurant appears high-quality at first glance on Google, but in my opinion, it's significantly overpriced. A simple salad costs €21.90, and a beef burger with fries costs €23. The burger is quite small, and the portion of fries is modest. The food selection is generally very limited, and the online menu doesn't reflect the current offerings on site. If you're really hungry, this isn't the place for you – it's okay for a quick snack or a coffee, but I can't really recommend it for a full meal. According to Google, the place is listed as a restaurant, but to me, it was more of a snack bar.

One of my beloved coffe shop on freiburg..taking a sip while watching the black forest and the trainstation... It is accesible and quite spacious too. Priced are okay too.

Nice place to stop off in all situations.

Located close to the train station with a beautiful view. The service was very friendly and attentive – we were short on time, so the waitress reported this to the kitchen, and indeed, the super-delicious, versatile chanterelle toast we ordered was served promptly. They even accommodated the fact that we arrived with our suitcases and wanted to keep an eye on them – thank you very much!

A very friendly, student-friendly, and colorful atmosphere. The food is lovingly prepared and the lunch menu changes according to the seasons. Excellent service and very helpful for those with disabilities. Accessible access and a disabled toilet are available.

The food is truly delicious, the portions are pleasantly large, and the prices are reasonable. A bit pricey in my opinion, but the location is good and very clean. The staff are super friendly and make an effort to make sure you feel comfortable. The restrooms are very hygienic and clean. Definitely worth a visit, and I would go back.

It's always a pleasure to come here. Friendly staff, good food, fair prices. The view from the roof terrace is simply fantastic.

Close to the old town, by the train station, with a balcony overlooking the train tracks and the inner courtyard. Prices are high. Large breakfast menu, but the menu is rather short. We've eaten often, but generally only moderately well. In summer, there's a rooftop terrace with a view of the greenery (and the train tracks).

Not really recommended! The avocado bread was quite tasty, as were the drinks, but if you ask for a slice of bread, you only get a half for a whole €2.50, even though the menu says "a slice of sourdough bread." What a disgrace! We didn't like it 😕

There may be a bit too much vinegar (or another acidic ingredient) in the salads. Perhaps it would be more pleasant to serve it separately so everyone can add to their own taste.

We were on the roof terrace and had a lovely spot with a great view. The staff was very friendly. Gluten-free options were important to me! It worked out very well, and I had no problems. Not exactly cheap, but the central location near the train station with a roof terrace was still acceptable.

Great location in Freiburg with a very nice view. We've only been there once so far, but the food and drinks we enjoyed will definitely make us come back. The wait was a bit longer on our visit.

What can I say? Hermann is simply fantastic! Super delicious, regional, and diverse food, a relaxed atmosphere, good drinks, and always a place where you feel completely at home. The roof terrace is a unique spot with a view of the main train station and the western part of the city center. It offers a great atmosphere, friendly service, and good street food at fair prices.

Delicious food and good service

The food was sensationally delicious. We're from Switzerland, so you get generous portions for the money. The staff was very friendly and easily accommodated our gluten-free request. The food was perfectly seasoned and 100% gluten-free (it's labeled). I had no complaints afterward and can highly recommend it :)

The food was a delight - we had the shakshuka, the breakfast bowl and the Nutella pancakes. All were delicious and brought out quickly. We had great outdoor seating with an easy space to store luggage as we are on our way to the train station.

I think the atmosphere is very cool. The lasagna Bolognese was very tasty and the price was okay. The service was very friendly and the food and drinks came quickly.

Outstanding café in Freiburg! I visited this place with my girlfriend for breakfast. The place was almost full but the staff still welcomed us warmly. The service was pretty fast and the food was very tasty. I can recommend it totally. 5/5

Asking other customers to CHANGE seats and INSISTING us to choose only 2 seat tables as we were two was not very inviting. Especially when the 2 seat tables were in short supply and the restaurant was 3/4 empty on a Monday early afternoon. Hope they will change this policy during less busy times.

Nice location, for which there is a higher price on food, but the meal was surprisingly tasty and big portions. The waitress was kind.

We love coming here for the vegan waffles. The vegan options are also good, and the coffee is delicious. The terrace is very nice, and the service is friendly.

It's more expensive than they say online if you're going to eat. €40 per person. They show you the bill on a mobile phone and use the credit card terminal to pay. They even charge you for tap water, a rip-off. Although smoking is not allowed, the smell of tobacco wafts in because they have a terrace on both sides and it's draughty. The food is quite spicy, even the boiled or fried potatoes that come on the side. If you go alone for a coffee or a drink, you have to sit on a kind of step, since the tables are reserved for lunch.

A wonderful discovery during my stay in Fribourg! I loved the warm bistro atmosphere, with its simple decor, perfect for lunch or coffee. The food was incredibly good, truly home-style cooking, just the way we like it. A special mention goes to the staff: attentive, patient, and friendly, you feel so welcome.

Unfortunately, the quality of the food has deteriorated significantly. The pasta was completely overcooked. I don't think the prices are reasonable either. A portion of pasta costs €19.50. Far too expensive compared to other restaurants where the food tastes much better. The service and atmosphere are still very nice and friendly. I would be happy if the food quality would improve again and the prices would return to normal. Thank you.

It was simply indescribably beautiful there

I have been here many times already, and it is time for a review:) I would say it is Freiburg signature branching place, the food is tasty and filling, the staff is very friendly and the location is so central :D If you want to have a brunch come early so you get a nice spot 😉

I enjoyed coming here. Good value for money. Good cuisine. Hearing pummel on the toilet was always great. Nice stuff. Except for a young lady with glasses and long dark blonde hair. It is also the reason why I will no longer consume there in the future. Addendum: Despite my offer twice, management did not listen to my point of view. And in their eyes I am the bad one, even though I was treated badly and unfairly by an obviously jealous waitress. Not recommended.

As usual, obviously I searched on Google and this little place came up that did English breakfasts, all very good, super nice staff, I highly recommend it.

The Kässpätzle were really, really tasty! The portion was actually a bit big. The staff was very accommodating and friendly. It's quite busy and therefore a bit noisy at times. But I would always eat there again. Being close to the train station is always a big advantage!

Insanely beautiful restaurant/café to feel good! The location is unique with a view of the Black Forest and the furnishings are casual and stylish at the same time. The best thing, however, is the people who work there, always friendly, polite and all around excellent service. The food is also super tasty, always fresh and made from regional ingredients - for me it is therefore one of the best addresses in all of Freiburg! See you soon again at Hermann! :))

Unfortunately you are only welcome here with a stroller when the baby is sleeping?! Understand that you want the seating to be as close as possible and strollers can therefore get in the way. Nevertheless, I find this blanket approach quite family-unfriendly and a real shame. If the baby can't sit yet, a high chair isn't a solution... and eating with a child in your arms isn't so cool either. Therefore: thumbs down, we won't be coming back, but we were always happy to be guests.

Very nice and attentive (young man) service person! I would like to emphasize explicitly! Unfortunately, the lamb's lettuce, although tasty, was too expensive. There were also raw vegetable salads underneath the lamb's lettuce, which of course made the proportion of lamb's lettuce much smaller. Unfortunately, I read the menu too late, where it was described differently (lamb's lettuce, mushrooms). Unfortunately, I missed the direct complaint, but the price/performance ratio just isn't right. Too bad.

Beautiful, urban, exceptional architecture, great panorama. The food is fresh and of good quality. Not the cheapest but you can enjoy the amazing view. Also practical if you bring guests to the train station and want to have a cup of coffee beforehand! The only drawback: no flavor syrup for the coffee…

We had our Christmas party here with coffee and cake. The booking was problem-free, the staff was very friendly and everything was simply uncomplicated. It's a nice ambience with lots of windows and nice lighting. The next room was made available to us and the atmosphere was set right away with Christmas music. The selection of cakes was very good and extremely tasty, as were the coffee and drink specialties.

Ambiance is nice. The menu selection is good. Plus point: Great roof terrace in summer. But: very loud. Coffee just average and prices (for the quality) a bit high. Overall, if you want to grab something to eat/drink before or after a train ride, we recommend it.

Absolutely recommended! The food and drinks were very tasty, the atmosphere was cozy and inviting, but special praise goes to the staff! We were very warmly and competently accompanied throughout the evening by our waitress. You and the team even made special requests possible for us. All in all a lovely evening and definitely on the list for the next Christmas party!

Great cake and cappuccino, search without caffeine

Hermann Cafe has ruined avocado toast for me. If is not Hermann’s I don’t want it! But seriously, the best avocado toast was the best I have ever had. The pickled vegetables were a delicious surprise, and they did not skimp on the avocado. The vibe and service in the café were wonderful. They accommodated my family with a baby in family style seating and the other patrons seemed unbothered. The atmosphere was upbeat and friendly and food came out quick.

In the café you can pay a whopping 50 cents more for oat milk. A full liter of Oatly costs €2.30. Is there tap water in a normal cappuccino or what justifies this audacity. The Black Forest milk also costs just under €2. The organic food that you can get in every good café in Freiburg costs €2.20. Just a rip off. And then you get bad milk foam. It's best to avoid something like that.

Great location right next to the train station, you can also sit outside. The regional food is very tasty and at a top price-performance ratio. It's always very crowded here, and rightly so, but there are plenty of places available

Always loved coming here during my time in Freiburg. The brunch menu has a lot of options. The coffees are always very nice. The upstairs area is also a nice place to sit and have a few drinks with friends. The staff are always very happy to help and are very friendly. The food is always very good.

I went to breakfast with a friend and the reception we had was embarrassing. For moving a table about 10 centimeters, the "manager" (blonde with curly hair) looked at us with a dog's face while talking to a colleague, and she didn't change her bad face even though I was looking at her. Her words were rude, although she said she didn't mean it meanly, the tone and face were not normal. There were hardly any clients, there was no stress or anything to justify his behavior. It's a shame, the food wasn't that bad and the views were nice, but she ruined the moment. I have to say that the waiter who served us was very friendly.

Very friendly and competent service. Always keep your eyes on the guest. Make sure that the dishes are cleared away quickly, which is very pleasant when you are still sitting comfortably together. The ventilation in the inner area could be better, you smell a lot of food when you leave the Hermann 🥺 We had a colorful selection of dishes on the table and everything was TOP 👍🏼 very plentiful and freshly prepared 😍 All drinks were delicious and are recommended 🍹 we will definitely be back 🍾🎉👍🏼⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Card payment including tip possible 🏦

I parked here briefly while my wife wandered around the flea market. The homemade lemon-ginger lemonade is a blast of freshness, definitely recommended!!!

We would definitely go here again for something to eat and/or drink :)
