We spontaneously went here twice for dinner...both times we were very warmly welcomed, the food was delicious, and the prices are unbeatable. If we're ever in Pirna again, we'll definitely come back.

The ambiance here is rather rustic and simple. But what really stands out is the absolutely unbeatable price for decent, well-cooked food. I'm a vegetarian and didn't find anything appealing on the menu, so the owner/server simply had the kitchen team prepare a dish especially for me. That was so kind and accommodating. It makes you feel valued and welcome as a guest. We always enjoy coming back here for a meal.

We were there for the second time today, a quaint pub with its own unique charm... The value for money is unbeatable: a large draft beer for €3.50, an Aperol Spritz for €4.90, and the good, plentiful food is very down-to-earth and without any frills... All around €10! 👍😎 You can easily overlook the fact that the restrooms aren't brand new. You have to consider the whole package when looking at these prices... We like it and will gladly come back again! 🍺☀️👍☕

This was our first time at Bettelmönch, and we sat outside. Unfortunately, the service was a bit overwhelmed, but friendly. The food was varied. The schnitzel with mushroom cream sauce and fried potatoes wasn't that great, but the goulash with sauerkraut and dumplings was amazing. The prices are incredibly reasonable. I would go back.

This is a great Restaurant. Tbe Food is outstanding. I had the Liver and my Friend the Schnitzel. We got there just before closing and where sitti g outside when it started to rain. We went inside and where told that they are closing but that we would be more than welcome and stay to finish our Beer. Prices are very resonable. That was very nice. There where two other people at another table. Hans and Franz are really funny and they like to help there Mom. One day they will take over I am sure of it. Thank you very much for your great Hospitality.

After a 45-minute walk in 32-degree heat, we arrived 70 minutes before closing time and were looking forward to our food. The waitress said they were closing now, but I should ask the manager. She rudely replied that the place was closing.

The dishes are small, but just right for me! I think this isn't for those who are really hungry, I think! The prices are moderate, though!

It was very full because of the city festival, but we were served in a friendly manner and the waitress had a good overview of everything. The food was good and sufficient, the price was good, surprisingly cheaper than usual.

Ate my best fried potatoes there. I ordered Rostbrätel with fried potatoes. It was a great meal. Would love to come back. Service was very friendly and attentive and the regular guests were also very friendly. Top keep it up, keep cooking with passion and love. I will recommend you.

Good basic neighborhood German food. I had Ziguener schnitzel (sweet & sour onion/bell pepper sauce) with fried potatoes, wife had bratwurst with sauerkraut. Indoor/outdoor seating, decent facilities; friendly, English speaking waitress.

The motto there is simple when it comes to the ambience and also the food. You feel like you were in GDR times. However, it is also inexpensive. The staff was very friendly.

In the middle of the old town of Pirna you can't pass the begging monk without something to eat. The liver with puree and fried onions is particularly my highlight 😋

I can just advise against it! Lousy food! The chop was tough and poor quality meat. Plus a few fried potato chips from the bag...with wilted lettuce. To offer something like that. Mini portions. The beer is still very expensive. This place is an absolute failure.

Very nice staff, attentive as it should be... We chose the meatballs with sauerkraut and that was a very tasty meal which I can absolutely recommend. The beer; Wild man tastes great too. We sat nicely in the side street so it was quiet and the atmosphere was great. Would love to come back. Oh and the prices are great too.

A very attractive restaurant for me as a thrifty consumer. We sat outside and ate salad with tuna. Ok, the same dish elsewhere for 3.5 times the price is of course larger in terms of portion. But in relation to the competitive prices at Bettelmönch, the salad was great and prepared with love. This is where I come back.

Home-style cooking at a top price.

We were looking forward to a small and quick lunch and found the location interesting. Our apartment was in the immediate vicinity. Unfortunately, the waitress walked past us once or twice without saying a word. No “Just a moment please.” The food was okay for the price, but the mashed potatoes were bland and boring, without any taste. I also find it strange that no card payment is possible.

On 30.3.2024, we visited the town of Pirna, where we decided to have lunch, and we went to the restaurant Zum Bettelmönch. I assume that when they found out that we were Czechs, the food for which we waited for about 50 minutes after ordering, and when the waitress didn't even warn us that we would be waiting that long, they brought something that I wouldn't even give to pigs, so that it wouldn't make them sick. And especially my food (schnitzel with mushroom sauce and roasted potatoes). The cutlet, on which half of the breadcrumbs were missing and the other part of the breadcrumbs was not fried, was stiff as if heated in a microwave, and at the same time burnt oil flowed from it. The potatoes looked as if they had scraped off the leftovers and fried them black just to be sure, and I won't even comment on the mushroom bluff that the chef poured over the whole thing. The waitress didn't understand what I didn't like about the food, but she apologized, took the food away and I didn't pay anything. My only regret is that I didn't take a picture of my food to have proof for others. The other friends ate their food (they had a doll with the same sauce), but they were not satisfied with the quality either. I know I will never visit this restaurant again.

Sehr freundlicher Service, leider war das Essen nicht zu empfehlen. Soljanka lieblos aber noch ok, die Pilzsoße zu Schnitzel und Sachsen Säckle fettig, ungewürzt und wirklich nicht lecker. Schade

Im "Bettelmönch" gibt es gute deutsche Hausmannskost. Wir waren zum Mittagessen und haben Schweinegulasch mit Böhmischen Knödeln bestellt. Es hat sehr lecker geschmeckt. Im Tschechischen gibt es standardmäßig 4 Knödel, hier nur 3. Dafür war eine Salatbeilage dabei, die jenseits der Grenze meist fehlt. Das ausgezeichnete Fassbier heißt "Wilder Mann" und kommt aus der benachbarten Landeshauptstadt. Die Bedienung war trotz des Andrangs drinnen und draußen sehr freundlich. Die Preise sind unglaublich. The “Bettelmönch” serves good German home cooking. We went for lunch and ordered pork goulash with Bohemian dumplings. It tasted very delicious. In Czech there are 4 dumplings as standard, here only 3. There was a side salad, which is usually missing across the border. The excellent draft beer is called “Wilder Mann” and comes from the neighboring state capital. The service was very friendly despite the crowds inside and outside. The prices are incredible. Complete disaster! We waited an hour for the food. There were no less than three strips of meat in the sliced ​​meat. First they said after 45 minutes that there were no ribs and a short time later the waitress came and said they had found some. The food wasn't freshly cooked and came cold. The dumplings were still raw inside. There is also not enough space and if you sit down with the old pig even though you asked, you will be insulted.

Inexpensive, very good home cooking with friendly service

A small inn with really, really nice staff. We were greeted very friendly and served very quickly. The prices were surprisingly cheap. Unfortunately we didn't like the food at all. The schnitzel was dark and hard, the mushroom cream sauce looked like it had been reheated several times. Maybe we just had a bad day. But still very sad. Card payment is absolutely not possible here! I'm sorry, but I can't give this more than 2 stars.

My family and I went here on Boxing Day and had lunch. The ambience is reminiscent of a former GDR pub, so you are greeted with a bit stuffy air - you should work on ventilation here. Regulars sit at tables for two at the edge of the room and stare obtrusively at every guest who enters the restaurant. Unfortunately the food was just familiar convenience food. Except for the raw vegetable salad, which was unfortunately too soaked in vinegar and had no other spices to show for it. The fried potatoes, the Rostbrätl and also the schnitzel were too soaked in oil and unfortunately, as already mentioned before, only from the supermarket. Unfortunately, the pasta with tomato sauce was also unconvincing for the children - topped with hard grated cheese and an indefinable "tomato" sauce - it could be better! The solyanka was again able to satisfy in terms of taste, even if it was perhaps only "finished" and refined. What should be highlighted is the service, which always strives to ensure the well-being of each guest in a friendly and courteous manner! All in all, at these prices you can't count on consistently homemade food, as the restaurant would go bankrupt in no time. But a little more seasoning, less vinegar and oil here and there... You could also conjure up something nice from simple ready-made food - there's definitely still room for improvement here! Unfortunately, I would absolutely not recommend this restaurant for a family Christmas dinner. If you're strolling through town in Pirna and looking for a cheap drink and a quick warm meal for lunch or in between, you can hit the spot here.

Wer hier in mitten der malerischen Altstadt ein hübsches mittelalterliches Restaurant erwartet, ist hier an der falschen Adresse. Ausgeschenkt werden hauptsächlich Bier und Spirituosen an Stammgäste. Das Essen fanden wir unterirdisch schlecht, das Ambiente ist eben das Ambiente einer Eckkneipe, aber der Kellner war super aufmerksam und freundlich.

Haben ein kleines feines Lokal gesucht. Netter Service, schnelles Essen und Getränke, für den Preis gut Ambiente rustikal, etwas in den 90er Jahren,aber passend. Gäste freundlich und außergewöhnlich.

Bier ausschenken kann fast jeder aber die Gäste noch freundlich bedienen und ein gutes Essen servieren, kann nicht jeder und genau das könnt ihr richtig gut 👍 Vielen Dank an die freundliche, höfliche und netten Dame, die uns am 25.11.2023 gegen 14:30 Uhr bedient hat. Die Preise sind auch super. Leute, stört euch nicht an die Gäste, sondern nehmt es wie es ist und probiert es einfach aus. Wir kommen gerne wieder 👍
