A HEARTFELT RECOMMENDATION! Everything was perfect from start to finish. A super friendly welcome, advice on choosing the right dish, warm and welcoming, and all around, exactly what you'd want for a delicious, relaxed meal out. A wonderful bonus: an artist from Hooksiel painted a coloring picture of the restaurant, which was provided to the children along with a large selection of colored pencils. That was the end of the question: "How long will it be? Or, when will the food finally be ready?" It probably wouldn't have happened anyway, because despite being freshly prepared, the food was ready really quickly and incredibly delicious! You can only enjoy this delicious atmosphere, and WE know one thing: Back to Hooksiel and back to the Anker ♡

Even though the restaurant was full, the friendly owner saved us two seats at the bar. Great food, good value, friendly staff! Best fish in a long time. We'd love to be back at the Anker!

It was simply delicious. The owner was very friendly and obliging. I asked for a carafe of tap water, which was promptly served without charge. I highly recommend this restaurant.

If you want to eat fish in Hooksiel, you should stop by Anker. The food is excellent; be sure to try the fried fish, it's absolutely delicious. But make sure you make a reservation, or you won't get a table.

We went there for dinner with our children. It's typically Nordic. The chef still serves personally, always with a little joke on his lips. The food was delicious, with generous portions and excellent service. Very good value for money. You should reserve in advance; the restaurant was very busy, and some guests couldn't get a seat. We booked another table the same week. Keep up the good work.

We've been coming to Hooksiel for many years, but this was just our first time at the Anker. Why didn't we come here much sooner? The service was really good, but when the food arrived, it topped everything. There was fresh blue ling and a fish platter with gurnard and sea bass, among other dishes, each served with fried potatoes and a small salad. The fish was sensational. Buttery tender, boneless, and simply delicious. This small but fine fish restaurant is an absolute must for anyone who comes to Hooksiel and wants to eat good fish. We'll definitely be back.

This restaurant was recommended to me, and it was spot on. For the money, you get fresh, delicious food with filling portions. I can't fault the service either; everything was perfect. So if you're in Hooksiel and enjoy fish, this is the place to go. Reservations are recommended; the place is always busy. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll probably stop by again.

Sensational fish platter. An absolute must for anyone who wants to eat fish in Hooksiel.

The food can be good, but unfortunately we didn't get a chance to try it, so I can only rate the service (updating the website/opening hours). I traveled all the way here because of the good reviews. I checked the opening hours on the website beforehand, and then I found the door locked. That's completely unacceptable. If you already have a website with opening hours, you keep them up to date, unless you're so full that you can do without guests.

We had clearly reserved for Tuesday at 6 p.m. Once we got there, we were told the reservation was for tomorrow. In a restaurant this full, mistakes like this shouldn't happen...

Friendly host. Large selection of fish dishes, often there's something special that the host recommends, which is worth ordering. Oh, and it's also reasonably priced. My recommendation: reserve a table.

A great place with a good selection of food and delicious beers

The restaurant is bright and uninspired. The tables are very close together. The counter with its bar stools is friendly, inviting, and quaint. We were lucky and were able to sit down at a table before making a reservation. Reservations, however, seem to be mandatory for any visit. We had plain plaice and the cutter plaice. Plain plaice consists of three small grilled plaice fillets, and the cutter plaice consists of three small, mmmm, plaice fillets with the main bone and bacon. The side bones have all been removed. There was a small salad with a bit too much balsamic vinegar on the side. The plaice tasted fantastic. The fried potatoes were, in my opinion, convenience food, which is a bit annoying for the price, and they didn't taste good either. I expect more. I found the staff a bit intrusive and unprofessional. I was, no joke, taken from my hand and shown how to eat the plaice. That's unacceptable. I've been eating fish for 40 years, ever since I could hold a knife and fork. When I asked for payment, the waitress from behind simply touched my shoulder. The restrooms were very clean. Card and cash payments are accepted. It's not wheelchair accessible. Dogs are welcome.

If you're looking for an authentic fish restaurant, this is the place to go. Reservations are essential, as seating is limited. We had gurnard, blue ling fillet, plaice, and fried fish, each with side dishes. The freshness and preparation were perfect. We felt very comfortable, as if we were at the chef's home.

The fish was fantastic. We had plaice fillet with prawns and plaice, along with the obligatory salad and fried potatoes (unfortunately, they weren't crispy enough for my taste).

Today we stopped at the fish restaurant “Zum Anker” for dinner. We received a very friendly welcome. Of course, I first had to order a Jever on tap. This was served well tapped in the typical Jevert tulip. For dinner we ordered cutter plaice with crabs and fried potatoes. There were three delicious plaices on the plate - perfectly fried. Plus fresh fried potatoes - nicely crispy and not greasy. Well fed, we hiked back to our motorhome. We can warmly recommend this restaurant.

I already know Mr. Vogel from the packing house. He is one of the best restaurateurs on the North Sea coast. Best food and very good host. Good hosts survive every crisis.

Today we were guests in the restaurant “Zum Anker”. We had reserved a table as a precaution, which was good because the restaurant was very busy. The restaurant itself is well maintained and clean. The two waitresses were super nice. We were warmly welcomed and given excellent advice regarding the choice of food. It was also possible to get a “smaller portion (senior plate)”. We had 4 different dishes. Baked fish, cutter plaice, grilled plaice fillets and breaded plaice fillets, 1x with fries, the rest with fried potatoes. Everything was really very tasty and the quantity was more than enough. We were really very satisfied and there was really nothing to complain about. A huge compliment. Keep it up.

We wanted to try the restaurant beforehand, but it was closed. Now we were back in the area and this time we made it. Time has stood still in the restaurant and it's fitting. Service typically northern German, but the types of fish were explained to the next table. We noticed this positively. Reordering was no problem. The fish was prepared without much frills and still looked good. The fish was fresh and well fried. Side dishes were also very good. Fried potatoes were delicious. The restaurant is not very large and is always busy, so you should make a reservation, especially in the evenings. There are some alternatives for those who refuse to eat fish, but the menu is for fish lovers, as you would expect in a fish restaurant. The prices are higher, the portion size is good and fish is not cheap. If we are in the area again, then the next visit will definitely be on the cards.

We were at the Anker on a Tuesday evening around 6:30 p.m. - without a reservation... So we didn't get a table, but "had to" make do with a place at the counter. Luckily, otherwise we wouldn't have had such a nice chat with the boss and his employee. Of course, we also ate delicious food. The fried fish in a super crispy shell with a great remoulade and a crispy plaice fillet (as crispy and delicious as I have rarely had before) with North Sea crabs were in front of us after a short time. Serve with delicious fried potatoes; only slightly seasoned - but I think that's very good. I'd rather add more salt and pepper than it's already too much. Accompanied by a delicious beer and finally a Ramazotti... Delicious - very tasty in fact - it was. Thank you for food and drink as well as one or two anecdotes from the fishing hobby... Petri Heil for the trip to Norway and Bremen... The ambience is more like a pub than a restaurant and the tone is rough and charming - northern German - so if you're looking for Chi-Chi and Etepetete, you're probably in the wrong place here. If you want to eat delicious food, you should take a look here.

Hi everyone, the food was good, the price/performance ratio doesn't fit. We went there because of the good recessions, but we didn't think it was a good fit.

At least one visit is a MUST during your holiday in Hooksiel. Top fish dishes! Very good price/performance ratio. The furnishings are practical and simple. We like it. Friendly boss and wait staff. Dogs are welcome and get their treat (or two ;). We'd love to come back!

The food was quite good except for the salad, which was from a bucket, only the boss wasn't friendly, he didn't even give us the schnapps that he gave to others and when we said goodbye there was only a stern look. But there are other restaurants on site and we won't be coming back!

Very nice, small fish restaurant in the center of Hooksiel. The family-run restaurant with friendly, competent service is very well attended. The fish selection of sea bass, red bass, wolffish, gurnard, tusk, sole, pollack, cod and plaice in various variations with a wide variety of side dishes is finely prepared and very tasty. We will continue to enjoy the food often.

Wonderful little and very cozy fish restaurant in Hooksiel! We chose the crab soup and shrimp for the starters and the fish platter and the rump fillet for the main courses. Everything was absolutely delicious and seemed very fresh. I would just avoid the “bull swallow” next time...

We were there for the first time today. The boss is relaxed and friendly, ready for a joke. The meal, rump fillet with fried potatoes and salad. Tusk fillet is a Norwegian fish, similar to cod. The dish was highly recommended to me by the boss. It was very good, very well fried. My companion had plaice fillet with crabs, which he also really enjoyed. The portions were also sufficient. A small negative point: There is a high step to the toilets, which may be a bit difficult for people with walking difficulties. Unfortunately, I forgot to ask about a disabled toilet. Went back the next day and tried the sea bass as its own dish. Absolutely great. Anyone who is on vacation in Wilhelmshaven or Hooksiel should eat here at least once.

7:00 p.m. on a Saturday, without reservation. Not a good idea at first, sat down at the bar for a beer, got a table 15 minutes later. The order had already been taken, which is why the food didn't take long to arrive. Even a larger group had their food on the table quickly after ordering. The food was delicious, one or two of them were frozen (schnitzel, fish fingers) but of course not the “real” fish.
