Restaurant "Alte Schneiderei", Hooksiel in Wangerland

We were in the mood for a fish sandwich and we came across the Alte Schneiderei in Hooksiel. We ordered a crab roll and a stream fish roll to take away. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. We waited 30 minutes for the two rolls. There were only two couples in the dining room and everything else was empty. The service was very friendly. When we unpacked the rolls, I asked myself why it took so long. I would have baked the rolls fresh in that time, but unfortunately they were like rubber. The topping wasn't that great either, the fried fish was a little bigger than a fish stick with some tartar sauce and that for €7.50 and the crab roll was the same... It was only topped with 1 tablespoon 🥄 of crab and that for €8.50 ...To be honest, to get something like that for these prices, the prices are not justified. We were already there in the summer and we weren't as disappointed as we were this time. Is it just the time of year that one can be so disappointed? Unfortunately we won't be coming back.

There's really nothing more to say about this review... The concept fits from start to finish, from the ambience, the quality of the food to the lovely people who serve you. All in all a very good one.

We were traveling in a motorhome and decided to stop in Hooksiel. While looking for a restaurant we came across the Alte Schneiderei. My wife went first to ask if our dog could come in with us. She came back smiling and said: "They're lovely." Of course the dog was allowed to come along. A rustic restaurant awaited us. We were served very friendly and courteously. There was also time for a little chat. The food was very tasty and filling. The attentive waitress provided us with plenty of drinks. We liked it so much that we made a reservation for the next day. It was also super tasty that evening. Like the day before, our “dessert” was supposed to be a Frisian spirit. Unfortunately there wasn't enough left. Someone immediately went and got some. Exemplary!!! All in all, a well-rounded affair. A visit that is worth it. A restaurant that you can 100% recommend and a service person that you simply have to love. Thanks for the great time!!!

We've eaten there three times and every time it's been delicious. Even the reception Entrance, totally warm family. Be sure to reserve a table in advance, otherwise you might have to leave hungry. Lots of different dishes, fish, meat, vegetarian... and everything was delicious. The service was excellent. Price/performance absolutely okay.

We reserved a table after a burial at sea. An extra beautiful table decoration was set for us on the upper floor. The food and the service were to our complete satisfaction. We'd love to come back.

The evening before last on November 1st, 2024, my wife called almost at the last minute and asked for a table for two people, which was a little out of the way, to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Despite the full house, we were promised it right in the alcove next to the entrance area, as we were told on the phone. The space was completely fine because the niche offered the necessary peace and quiet so that one could have a quiet conversation. Since we had eaten at the Alte Schneiderei before, we knew this area. At that time, however, we sat on the first floor, which was also very comfortable. We were pleasantly surprised on our first visit to the old tailor shop. My wife and I ordered the grill platter for 2 people. The staff was very attentive and friendly without being intrusive. When the food was served a short time later, we were thrilled. The different types of meat were tasty and grilled to perfection. Gently pink on the inside and lovely roasted aromas on the outside without being burnt. The beans with bacon were also perfectly prepared and flavorful. The two sauces served, hunter's and gypsy sauce, were homemade and very tasty. The fries that were served were also okay. The quantity served of this grill plate was completely sufficient; We were both more than full. We also ordered mayonnaise for the fries, which was served without any problems. When we had paid the moderate bill, the nice waitress came and handed us a bottle of Rheinhessen wine as a small gift for our wedding day. You have to know that my wife mentioned this rather casually on the phone. In general, the friendliness of the staff seemed natural and not artificial. All in all, it was a very successful evening for us and we will definitely come back.

The food was delicious, plentiful and the prices were very reasonable. The service was particularly positive. This was more than good because everyone was really friendly and accommodating. Special requests were taken into account and our children even received a lollipop at the end. Thank you very much - we would love to come back!

We cannot understand the positive reviews. After we ordered, our food arrived within 5 minutes, even though we didn't have any drinks yet. Food that is served after 5 minutes cannot be freshly prepared. It's a shame, we were looking forward to a nice evening and after 30 minutes we were finished. The staff was very friendly.

Food very good. However, the plastic sets give a cheap impression. The reserved table was not available, incorrectly ordered side dishes had to either be thrown away or paid for. We've always enjoyed coming here for years, but unfortunately it's lost a lot of its charm.

We can only recommend the old tailor shop. We were in Hooksiel for a week and were there 4 times. It was always delicious and you were always treated kindly.

The food was really good again. The facility is worth seeing. The toilet can be reached on the upper floor via a relatively steep staircase and this is quite difficult for people who have problems walking. The toilet doors can also be adjusted from time to time.

We ate fried fish in a roll in the restaurant, so for €8 it was pretty tiny. There was also the surcharge for the restaurant.

We had mixed fish platter and homemade roulades with apple red cabbage, fried potatoes and cucumber salad, the food is always very good but today you have outdone yourself 🌹🌹🌹

The restaurant is located directly on the shopping street from Hooksiel. Rather inconspicuous from the outside, It surprises you with lots of space and is more comfortable inside Furnishings. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The menu offers something for everyone and that Price/performance ratio is okay. Our food was really tasty and made with love made. Restaurant right on the “promenade” of Hooksiel with some outdoor places for comfortable seating. Very friendly and courteous staff but extremely long waiting times (30 minutes for the drink) and 40 minutes for the food ordered. The schnitzels we ordered weren't bad but weren't really anything special either. The long wait and the price charged are not really worth it.

We have known this restaurant for over 30 years, unfortunately the quality has deteriorated significantly after the change. The sparkling wine before the meal was lukewarm, the side dishes for the fish and meat dishes were cold, and the fish was mediocre. It's a real shame, but unfortunately it's no longer what it was 😔

The positive first: the ambience is great! Very quaint and cozy. Looks smaller from the outside than it is. The food is really very good. Unfortunately the main focus is on (in our case) the meat, the side dishes were so-so, croquettes and rösti were frozen. Requests for changes are taken into account and are reflected both positively and negatively on the invoice. The service could be friendlier, but it depends on who is serving you. Unfortunately I got a small beer instead of the big one. Basically I think the prices are too high for what is on offer, you can get it cheaper elsewhere.

We often go on holiday at the sea, but with all due respect we were just served the worst fish sandwiches ever. The rolls were hard (either poorly stored or from the day before), the herring wasn't even half a fillet and the shrimp roll for 7 euros had a whopping 3-4 shrimps on it (a lot of sauce). Too bad! We know it differently.

First of all, enjoyed the beautiful weather on the beach in Hooksiel on the North Sea and then saw this very beautiful restaurant that fits the area and just because of the great reports and recommendations. We had a delicious meal yesterday. The starters were Nordic bruschetta and Matjestaler. Our main course was the Alte Schneiderei fish platter for two people. Everything was very tasty and we will definitely go there again on vacation! Keep it up!!!!

On a leisurely afternoon we visited the Alte Schneiderei in Hooksiel and were really impressed. The fish was super tasty and the schnitzel was nice and crispy. The waitresses were very friendly and made us feel welcome. The atmosphere was relaxed, just right for a pleasant meal. We'd love to come back!

I would actually like to give more stars and write the feedback differently, but there remains a fly in the ointment that "disturbed" us all. The dishes were all good, especially the baked cheese in the salad was great. Fish and chips also good, nothing to complain about. However, one person then asked for a glass of tap water with the wine, which was then answered with "we're not allowed to do that". Okay, if you hadn't ordered any drinks at all it might have been different, but there were 6 paid drinks on the table including wine and the question was about water with the wine. That's absurd. Sensing that the requirement wasn't met with any understanding, a glass of water came over, but with an almost three-digit bill it's simply not possible to initially deny this. It's probably a requirement, but it has to be handled differently. So it was just silly.

The absolute highlight of the 3 restaurants, great, friendly and attentive service, we were there with a wheelchair user and we were always offered help, the price was absolutely top and the food was amazing, all the dishes were a delight, if you are in Hooksiel you should definitely visit this, absolutely top , Uhrig's ambience, gladly again

So, either some newcomers are running the old tailor shop or the rumor about these stuffy, grumpy and taciturn North Germans is simply a lie. In addition, there is always exactly the right number of forks there. In short: super friendly staff, super delicious food, super nice ambience. And the fish sandwiches on hand are quite okay too.

I come to the Alte Schneiderei regularly, it's always nice here, I personally always liked the food, regardless of whether it was meat or fish dishes, I also really liked the vegetarian dishes. As a guest you are always valued and served in an exemplary and very friendly manner.

The two of us ate there, both Jägerschnitzel, my companion with croquettes and I with fried potatoes. My companion never really eats much anyway, she was well full, I found 4 croquettes to be a bit too little as a side dish for the schnitzel, she found that sufficient. The fried potatoes I had were excellent, I would have liked to have had more. The schnitzel was a blast, excellent. The only point of criticism was that our hunter's sauce was lukewarm and the mushrooms were still cold. We were so hungry after a long day that we were almost half finished when the waitress came to ask. She also offered to warm it up again, which we didn't accept because it was a bit uncomfortable for us because we had already eaten so much. When we wanted to pay, the boss came and apologized for the cold mushrooms, which we didn't take seriously and we only had to pay for one meal. We were very positively surprised and can only say thank you. That's exactly how you should treat a faux pas, absolutely great, we'll definitely eat there again.

A very good restaurant, beautifully located at the Old Harbor. Friendliness and service are very important here. The food was very tasty, prices are within the normal range. Afterwards you can go for a stroll in the small streets or simply enjoy the old harbor.

We celebrated our wedding anniversary in the "Alte Schneiderei" and were completely thrilled: the ambience, the friendly service and the excellent food (both fish and meat) were excellent. It was also the last evening of our vacation, which we ended with the firm decision to return to the "Alte Schneiderei" next year. Here again a big thank you to the kitchen and service!

Very tasty food, great service, everything to our satisfaction, keep it up. Today we had schnitzel Holstein with fried egg and schnitzel Jäger style, both very large portions and freshly fried, praise to the kitchen, we'll be happy to come back.

Unfortunately, the Edel redfish that was ordered was not served, only redfish. The difference: "Edel" means with sauce that was missing. Side dishes weren't warm enough and we had to wait for the sauce, then it was only lukewarm and was reheated. In the meantime, only 1x sauce came even though we had the fish twice, and this was also charged extra. Tables and chairs were cramped and there was little space when eating.

A very nice restaurant at the harbor in Hooksiel. The menu has something for every taste and our dishes were very tasty. Priced slightly above average. Instead, you sit in a cozy restaurant and are served by very friendly staff. Thumbs up for that

We ate outside. The location of the restaurant is very good and you can watch life. We decided on fish. This tasted great and we were very satisfied with the service and the friendly staff. We will definitely come back there on our next vacation.
