We went twice. The first time I had Pork Liver and it was outstanding. My son had spare ribs and a few pints to wash it down. The second time my son had pasta and beef strips which he was impressed with. I had Pork Knuckle and Sauerkraut and wished I had the same again. It’s in a great spot as the square is busy with music and lots of people out. We went on a Friday afternoon and Saturday night.

The Schnitzel is very good! The atmosphere is good, and the waiters are attentive. But they didn't warn us that the Mayonnaise or Ketchup was extra bezahlen.

Very authentically decorated restaurant. We wanted to show German food to a friend who isn't from Germany and ended up going to this restaurant and we weren't disappointed! We had the schnitzel with champions and it was really delicious. The portions are large and the service is good too.

I was there with two Thai women. Actually, German food isn't their thing, but even these two really hit the spot here. I haven't had such good food in a very long time... It's a shame that restaurants like this are so rare these days

Of the 2 dishes we ordered, one was really bad. The quality of a schnitzel was very poor. The chanterelles on offer with the accompanying sauce were a disgrace (chanterelles in ready-made cream sauce). The waiter seemed overworked despite the outdoor area being half full. Taking an order took forever. The cola we ordered turned out to be Pepsi when we arrived. That didn't seem to make any difference to the waiter. When the food arrived, the colleague was irritated by the lack of cutlery. During and after the meal, no one asked if everything was OK, not even when one of the dishes was barely touched when paying.

The food is classic and super tasty. Inside it is quaint and rustic. If you want typical Dortmund food, then here! I think it's a bit of a shame that there are so many homeless people in the square and come to the table to beg. But the restaurant can do that. Yes, nothing for.

Good traditional food and beer with friendly staff

We were looking for a restaurant in the area and I saw that this place had many reviews. It was the first time I had entered a typical German restaurant. The waiter Justin served us excellently in English, recommending beer and local food. You have to try their knuckle, schnitzel and Kovels beer. It was a great success, everything was delicious.

Very tasty meal. Both me and my partner had the 'American spare ribs' with coleslaw and fries. Everything was super tasty. A very low price for a good portion. We were satisfied!

The food is just fine. The available beers are not so good, believe if you can.... The service was able to be worse than in Netherlands, believe if you can. I don't recommend the place. In fact, Dortmund is not a city that I intend to go to again.

Food is good but service is bad. Had to wait ages for someone to take the order, another 15 minutes wait for paying the bill. The waiter assigned to our table was extremely rude and unpleasant to speak with. No napkins and he asked us (aka the customer) to clean the table ourselves. Are you serious? What are you here for if you don’t serve and you don’t clean? Bossing customers around? Suggest asians and other pocs avoid this restaurant. The food is not worth tolerating the subtle racism.

Sitting in the sun, watching what's going on, sky and earth and a Pilsken. Dude, what more do I want? Black pudding fried to perfection, mashed potatoes creamy and not sticky, seasoned to perfection. The fried onions are homemade and are crispy. The whole thing surrounded by a fantastically spicy sauce. Service was also attentive and friendly. I say, what more do I want?

Very traditional restaurant where we ordered typical dishes... I ordered pork knuckle, served with mashed potatoes and savoy cabbage (choucroute), I just didn't eat the savoy cabbage because I don't like the sour taste... all this accompanied by a cold beer. The atmosphere is rustic but pleasant and the service was very quick and friendly. Restaurant well located in the Altstadt.

A typical German Cafe. A nice place to look at the square from the corner, drink beer and eat German food. It was one of the beer spots we sat at on two different days. Our brother, the tattooed, bald waiter who is a Dortmund fan, has a great conversation :D

Was there for the 8th final. Because it was full, guests were forbidden to go to the toilet or to the restaurant!!! Something like that doesn't work at all. Especially since you are a paying guest.

Had a booking and confirmation, but due to the Euros this was seemingly ignored. Waited 15 mins and got a table. Food was good. Only marked the service down because they were clearly understaffed and those working the outside were rushed off their feet. Food was good and good value for money.

FOOD & DRINKS We shared the pork knuckle and it was plenty for both of us. Unfortunately, the skin wasn't as crispy as it could and should be, but the meat was still juicy and tender. The mashed potato was smooth and buttery while the German coleslaw gave the necessary acidity to cut down the fat. SERVICE Service was ok. ATMOSPHERE Eating outside on the busy street during a warm day was nice. RATING I wouldn't come back for the pork knuckle unless they make the skin more crispy.

It's a good place to drink one or two Pilsners. Nice pub in the middle of the city.

I can only give 5 stars, in this location and at this price (normal to cheap) you expect bad to mediocre food, but this was really good. Of course there is still room for improvement, but if you want to eat centrally for under €20, this is the place for you.

We had a nice time at the Zum Alten Markt brewery before our European Championship game. We liked the service and friendly staff as well as the tasty beer and food.

Visited as a tourist on the occasion of the European football championships with a group of people. We were looking for something typical not too expensive. We certainly found the typicality of the food but unfortunately the prices were decidedly high. Considering then that the waiter wanted 10% of the bill but only from us Italians... in short, good but not great

We visited the Old Market again on Sunday! This restaurant is a must and is a must for us when we are in Dortmund. The food, especially the great Westphalian cuisine, is simply delicious. Our service was super attentive and the ambience is simply great! Highly recommended - keep it up!

Many people come, but only 3-4 waiters and waitress serve you. Food is ok but the service is certainly making this restaurant down-graded. The atmosphere is good as EURO2024 is in progress in the city. After all, this restaurant is over-rated.

We visited Dortmund for the Euro Cup for the first time and were intrigued by the pub's exterior, which seemed interesting and edgy. However, the experience turned out to be quite disappointing. The food was overall below average bar food, nothing special, but the most unpleasant aspect was the service. From the beginning, despite there being many empty tables, we encountered difficulty in getting a table inside. The waiter (a guy) was unwelcoming and clearly uninterested in being accommodating. His lack of enthusiasm in presenting the menu, promoting the venue, or suggesting food and drinks was evident. The table next to us had a similar experience. As a result, we didn't recommend this pub to others during our stay in Dortmund, as its service did not reflect the many great dining experiences we had elsewhere in the city that week.

We had our company dinner in the restaurant, were seated straight away and were served very nicely the whole time. The restaurant was completely full and we never had to wait long. The atmosphere was great and we had a great time. I would go back any time.

Racist treatment by one of the rude staff. He squashed the credit card rejection receipts and throw on the table. Clearly it was his payment machine got problem. Enclosed are the decline receipts and then acceptance receipt when I used the same card to purchase things in the stadium. I’ve been using this card for the past 8 days in Germany with no problems at all. I even purchased a watch case that cost £2000 after that. I will report this to the Tourism Board of Germany. We felt this waiter is racist and he shouted at us when we were leaving the restaurant. Unbelievable hospitality. For our 10 days Euro 2024 experience this guy just ruined the reputation of Germans being friendly.

We stopped by for a late bite last Friday, during the Eurocup. The restaurant was not full (despite many fans in the piazza) but they nevertheless semeed completely overhwlmeed. The service was harried and borderline rude. When I asked for more bread (the meal came with 3 small pieces of bread), they said I had to pay more. They were impatient when taking the order and ignored our table for the duration. I appreciate language may have been a factor, but it was stlil surprising given the number of tourists in the area (and that this is a well-known restaurant). On the positive side, the wurst with potatoes and the potato soup were both good.

Food was ok, but I had a really rude waiter His colleagues called him “Fidan.” The cellar tried to cheat me when paying and then insulted me. I have been coming as a satisfied customer for years and will never enter the store again until the basement is gone. Catastrophe!!!!!!

It was the most awfull experience in my life. Rude stuff. Awfull service. After waiting one hour and half and ask about our food, we were answered in a very bed way, about to make a fight with us 😡. Their answer was dont come if you can jot wait for 3 hours. Not smily stuff even they are talking with very angry way. I dont advice anybody to go there
