Very nice restaurant with flair

We were able to celebrate our wedding at the horse stable on August 9, 2025, and we are so grateful. A year ago, we visited for the first time to check out the venue and felt at home from the very first second. Vilija Leliukaite welcomed us and was available to offer advice and support throughout the wedding. On the wedding day itself, Melanie from the team was there for us and managed the day perfectly and lovingly. Since it was a queer wedding, it was especially important to us that our guests, and we too, felt safe and comfortable at all times, and that's exactly what the horse stable team conveyed to us at every moment! (It's important to emphasize this, as unfortunately, this is absolutely not the norm.) Every member of the horse stable team who was there for us in any way at our wedding was extremely friendly, attentive, and helpful; we all felt at home. The venue itself is simply magical, our decor ideas were perfectly realized, and the food was amazing (we still receive feedback on it today). A huge THANK YOU to the entire team, it was the perfect day for us!

Beautiful location, but unfortunately poor service. Five of us were here for a birthday dinner. We had to wait 60 minutes for a single appetizer (potato soup), and the remaining main courses didn't arrive for 1.5 hours. Such delays can happen – but it was absolutely incomprehensible and annoying that, despite repeated requests (about five times), we received no explanation or even an apology. Instead, they even questioned whether we had actually waited that long. The meal itself was mediocre at best; my mother's fries were initially forgotten and then arrived almost raw and inedible. Even a complete absence of any inquiry to see if everything was okay. Conclusion: Disappointing – especially for a special occasion.

The steak was really delicious, but we ordered an iced chocolate for dessert afterward. Unfortunately, that was very disappointing. It had ice cubes in it. I'm used to iced chocolate with vanilla ice cream, but that's not what I'm used to. It's a real shame. We won't order iced chocolate here again. Otherwise, highly recommended.

The drinks selection also left nothing to be desired – whether wine, long drinks, or non-alcoholic alternatives, everything was of high quality. The venue itself, with its industrial charm on the grounds of the Zollern mine, has a very special flair – a unique blend of rustic, stylish, and cozy. Our guests were thrilled! We would choose the Pferdestall again anytime – whether for a celebration or simply a special evening. Highly recommended! 💯

For the first time in ages, I had a really good rump steak, and my companion had pork medallions with vegetables and a side salad. I had potato wedges with my rump steak. There was also a side salad. Almost forgot... For starters, we had "Antipasti – Mediterranean Snacks." There was nothing to complain about... I can only recommend it... if I'm back in Bochum, I'll definitely go there again. We celebrated a large party at the horse stable with over 70 people – and I have to say: it was a complete success! I returned after a long time, and it was truly worth it. The organization in advance was top-notch – our every wish was practically anticipated. The team was incredibly helpful, flexible, and professional. The food was plentiful, delicious, and a hit with all guests. What impressed me most was the service: consistently friendly, attentive, and absolutely seamless – despite the large group. The beautiful ambiance, of course, perfectly rounded off the whole experience. The horse stable will definitely be my first choice for the next big celebration. Highly recommended!

Absolutely! We ate there for my mom's 92nd birthday, and we were all thrilled. The setting was beautifully laid out, the food was delicious, and the service was attentive, polite, and very friendly.

We have been guests at the horse stable several times, were always treated courteously, and the food was always good and reasonably priced. We celebrated our wedding with almost 120 people at the horse stable, and the preparation, the event itself, and the aftercare provided by the horse stable team were also outstanding. Our guests were also delighted with the food, the friendliness and reliability of the staff, and the atmosphere.

Very nice beer garden, great location, food and attentive waiters.

Extra shift on June 28th. We just wanted to grab a quick drink outside. It was brought promptly. Since we wanted to leave quickly, we asked to pay immediately. "I'll let my colleague know," was the reply. The bill was €6.30. When the waitress, the same one who had taken our order, came to the table, she immediately showed me the contents of her wallet, which contained exactly €3 in coins. Unfortunately, she didn't have the correct change. Would the €3 be okay? Could this be any more brazen?

We ate there with our family. From the food to the service, everything was perfect. We were all completely satisfied. We can wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant.

It was delicious, and we received nothing but positive feedback. The ambiance in the restaurant is very appealing and cozy. The service is excellent across the board. Cheerful and friendly until late into the evening. We would definitely celebrate there again and can recommend it without reservation. We sat in the wonderful beer garden: no cars in the way, and a playground right next door. The service and food were very good. Only the side salad was a bit bland and dressed with a ready-made sauce. We'd be happy to come back.

The service was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. The two of them did a really great job. The food was also delicious. The dessert seemed a bit underpriced, but there was plenty of it for the main course. Overall, though, I wasn't that impressed with the horse stable. The access was more like a narrow path. When we were there, the women's restroom was broken, and the other restroom looked the same after a short while. The air below was trapped through the high windows. It was quite stuffy, so the party eventually took place in the narrow forecourt. The staff had to carry all the dishes and food into the main building because there was only a small bar in the horse stable itself. This doesn't affect me or my review, but it was somehow an unfortunate solution. We were only guests at the event, but it wouldn't be my favorite location. The industrial setting was eye-catching. However, as we weren't familiar with the area, we had trouble finding the correct entrance and a parking space. Either all three of us had something in our eyes or the signage was a bit poor. In any case, where Maps led us, there was a locked gate and a sign saying no entry.

The restaurant has a unique ambiance and very friendly staff. The food was very good. We all had a different dish with a starter, and everyone was extremely satisfied 😀 We will definitely be back 🙋‍♀️☀️ During the Zollern Mine Museum's opening hours, please call in advance so that you can register at the ticket office. A small fee (€1) is required to visit the restaurant. You can walk in from 5:30 p.m. 🤣

I had dinner there yesterday with my son and my wife and ordered a table at 6:30 p.m. The table was only set for 2 people, even though we had ordered for 3! The ambience was very nice, the food was also very tasty, what we didn't like at all was that the starter soup that my son had ordered only came after 1.5 hours and our main course after 2 hours, the guests who came after us had already received their food! It seemed to us as if you had forgotten us! We wouldn't eat there again!!!

Very tasty food and beautiful surroundings and ambience, but unfortunately the service wasn't a good experience. Food was pre-ordered (due to time management, as it was just a break from a training course on site). The food wasn't ready, after 25 minutes you came to ask what you wanted to drink, after 40 minutes the food finally came, even though we asked several times and then we "had" to eat the food within 5 minutes. It was super tasty but then we couldn't enjoy it anymore given the pressure... when we asked you about it, he repeatedly said the food could have been there after 5 minutes but we should get our drink first... it's a real shame

Exceptional ambiance. Good food, top-notch service. The only downside is the noise level; you practically had to shout at each other if you wanted to have a conversation. But that's just the building's fault. The restaurant can't be blamed for that.

We (unfortunately) only took a “short hiking break” there. But given the scenery and the delicious food, I would love to come back again. The mine is absolutely worth seeing.

Food technically, I can't recommend this place. In my opinion, a fried fish has a crispy and edible skin. Unfortunately it was soft and limp and therefore not edible. Too bad! The ambience is great! An old mining site including a museum and adventure playground for the kids. The service was fine.

We got married in church on September 14, 2024 and then celebrated in the horse stable. We received excellent support from the boss with valuable tips and tricks during the preliminary meeting. On our wedding day we celebrated with around 65 guests. After the wedding we started with a champagne reception in the pavilion/garden, which created a wonderful atmosphere. Afterwards we went to the restaurant, where everything was lovingly decorated and perfectly prepared. The guest book station, the candy bar, the magical table decorations, the delicious food and the classic wedding cake - everything was simply wonderful! It was a very special day for us and we are deeply grateful to the entire team for their effort and support. You can feel that the employees do their jobs with passion. A big thank you to everyone!

We noticed by chance that there was a restaurant at the Zollern mine. The weather was wonderful but cold, so tested whether the restaurant offered the opportunity to warm up a bit. What was served at the neighboring tables looked really great and left us wanting more. We chose the potato soup from the daily menu, a good decision, absolutely delicious! The bread that was served was delicious, so we asked if it could be purchased. That works ;-) so one of these breads please. An apple pie with cream to accompany the coffee, that rounded things off. The service is really friendly and attentive! We felt very comfortable, thank you for that!

After a visit to the Zollern colliery, a visit to the horse stables is a must. The restaurant has a modern, rustic interior and was moderately busy at lunchtime. The service was great. As a starter there was bread with herb quark. For the main course I had STEIGERS FAVORITE DISH, tender bacon-wrapped pork medallions with very creamy Choron sauce, Mediterranean oven-roasted vegetables and rosemary potatoes. The food that arrived shortly thereafter was so deliciously prepared that I forgot to take a photo of it! 😉 All in all, a delicious visit!

In my top 3 for NRW and has been for many, many years. I take the Dortmunder Rostbraten every time and the dish is to die for! We usually go there as a small group of friends and everyone is more than satisfied. Not just with the roast. The ambience is of course also great. You immerse yourself in a time when industry still had an architectural beauty. From 5:30 p.m. entry to the Zollern colliery site is free (as of 2025); before that it only costs a little - with a reservation in the horse stable.

It was our first time there, but definitely not the last time. Overall, super good! We each chose a different menu offering. Excellent!

It was a great celebration! All of my guests, there were over 50, were completely satisfied. We were all warmly welcomed by the servers and then discreetly served. The food was simply outstanding! Highest compliments to the kitchen! The atmosphere in the room made people feel comfortable, so the celebration lasted until the early hours of the morning. It was an unforgettable evening in the horse stable. This restaurant deserves an absolute recommendation.

Ich war mit Freunden hier und wir wurden sehr herzlich von der Bedienung begrüßt und an unseren Tisch geführt,. Es war sofort eine Wohlfühlatmosphäre geschaffen. die Speisekarte war übersichtlich gegliedert und hielt so einige kulinarische Überraschungen bereit. Unser zusammengestellte Dreigängemenü war ein voller Genuss. Es war alles sehr geschmackvoll angerichtet und war absolut seinen Preis wert. wir waren so zufrieden, dass wir uns vorgenommen haben, mindestens einmal im Monat hier vorbei zu schauen, um zu essen.

We were in this lovely restaurant on 1/4/25. Just ate a little something and drank mulled wine. The service was extremely attentive and super nice. We are happy to recommend this restaurant. It is right on the mine railings and offers the perfect end to an eventful tour into the history of mining in the Ruhr area.

We celebrated a big birthday with 65 people here with an extensive brunch and everything was perfect! The beautiful setting, the warm welcome of the guests with Stösschen or rhubarb sparkling wine and the design of the restaurant rooms, the beautiful buffet, the friendliness of the service staff, the child-friendliness and the uncomplicated planning process - all highly recommended! We went home with a big smile on our faces!

El restaurante en sí tiene un estilo tradicional muy bonito y anticuado. La calidad de la comida es buena, así como la variedad. The restaurant is very quaint. There used to be a horse stable here as part of a disused mine. The architecture of the mine is absolutely worth seeing. A wonderful atmosphere both inside and outside in the beer garden. The service was impeccable, polite, quick and correct. The food was very tasty, we ate the Champion schnitzel with fries. One star less because the schnitzel was served without a side salad. That would have made the meal perfect. A look at the neighboring tables whets my appetite to try other dishes here. We'd love to come back.

Het restaurant ligt op het terrein van het mijncomplex Zollern in Dortmund. Gehuisvest in een monumentaal pand wat dienst heeft gedaan als paardenstal. Overzichtelijke kaart met leuke gerechten. Voor elk wat wils. Kwalitatief goed en bijzonder smaakvol. Prima prijskwaliteit verhouding.

All the food was delicious. I highly recommend it. Food comes out quickly too. The food was seasoned appropriately, and each menu item was well balanced. I could feel the delicately cooked taste of the schnitzel, and this could also be seen in the garnish of the steak. It was nice to be able to taste carefully cooked food through the soft cooked flesh with a slightly crispy texture in the chicken breast of the salad. The characteristics and points of each menu were not overlooked, and the taste stood out. I don't think soy sauce was used in potato pancakes, but I was curious about how to achieve that flavor. The salmon served on the side was fresh and tasted even better with the sauce. The employees were friendly and had good manners. As the name of the restaurant suggests, the interior has a neat and tidy interior with a horse saddle theme. The lighting may be a bit dark for taking pictures, but it is a great place to take pictures from good angles using point lights. If the museum closes after 6 p.m., you can enjoy it at any time without an admission ticket. Next time I come to Dortmund, I think I will visit again.

The food and service were top. The ambience was also great. Unfortunately we had to wait 1.5 hours for our food and we had a diabetic with us. That wasn't so good. There was a large company there and the kitchen was not able to serve the "normal" customers. Big minus! Even the coffee on the house doesn't make it any better. The planning should be reconsidered. Nevertheless, I would come back just for the food.

Basically a great location, but it's way too loud. We were in the next building with a larger group and many guests complained that they had to shout at each other. The owner would have to install a few acoustic elements here, then this would be fixed. Food was ok, when grilling the service has to make sure to use different forks for raw and grilled food. Staff was great.
