A beautiful and quiet terrace near Lake Phönixsee, with friendly service. The food is very varied: the sauerbraten with red cabbage and dumplings (in August!) is rock-solid, and the salad is fresh, but I'd advise against the yellow curry.

The location is beautifully situated by the water, with a great ambiance and a large terrace. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. We had to wait 50 minutes for our food – and that was with only one cook for around 40 guests and one server. I felt sorry for him because he was constantly running around trying to please everyone. After 40 minutes, we were about to leave. When the food finally arrived, I had to laugh: currywurst with fries and a Caesar salad after 50 minutes – that's quite an achievement. Unfortunately, my salad didn't taste good. The tomatoes were very thick and hard, and the salad mostly seemed like it came from a package, a colorful mix. There was also a lot of dressing that didn't taste right. Overall, the concept didn't really convince me.

The main course was very good, but the pancake was sensational!

When my wife and I arrived at the restaurant today at 6:30 p.m., there was no one inside, and the outdoor area also seemed pretty empty, with only 20-30% occupancy. An older man with glasses at the reception desk/conditioner explained to us that there were currently no tables available, even though the interior was empty and the outdoor area was only partially occupied. When I politely asked where we could sit, I received an unfriendly, unhelpful answer: "It's not possible." This completely disappointed us and felt very unfair. Our impression is that the service doesn't live up to what you'd expect from a good brasserie: little warmth, hardly any focus on solutions, and an overall disappointing welcome, especially in clear outdoor areas. Given the empty tables, more friendly communication would have been helpful. It's certainly also of interest to management when customers willing to pay are turned away. I hope management looks into this matter.

It was my first time at Westermanns and definitely won't be the last. The service was friendly and attentive. The breakfast I ordered was great. I'd love to come back.

Unfortunately, parts of the order were forgotten. They also forgot that you wanted to pay. The Kaiserschmarren was good, but not very good for €17. The cappuccino was watery, and the milk foam must have been sweetened.

Unfortunately, we were completely ignored and left after 20 minutes. Several tables on the terrace were occupied, and inside, along with ours, there was another table for two. So, not very busy. After 10 minutes, my companion approached the lady working there and asked for a menu. She replied that it would take a while; she only had two hands. No problem; we had time and were relaxed. When she still hadn't come to our table after another 10 minutes, we decided to go somewhere else. It's a shame, since the ambiance is a nice place...

This was our first time here and we can recommend it without hesitation. The service was really great, the atmosphere was fantastic, and the breakfast was incredibly delicious. We'd love to come back 😊

We were there for breakfast. It's a nice café/restaurant in itself. However, I wouldn't recommend it for breakfast. Unfortunately, the rolls were pre-baked and not fresh, and the bread was very hard. I definitely expected more. The salad wasn't fresh either, and it was pre-packaged. A shame! The staff and service were friendly and pleasant. The prices are reasonable, but I'd rather pay a bit more for fresh produce than for ready-made baked goods.

Always delicious; great, changing selection

The ambiance and service were really great, but unfortunately, the value for money wasn't right for me. €30 for a burger with a hint of truffle mayo and fries is simply too expensive. It might just be my opinion, but that's how it was.

We wanted to try the restaurant today and we were there shortly before 8am. When we went in we were ignored by the waiter when we asked for a table for two. He rolled his eyes and pointed at a table in a very unfriendly way. That was the moment we turned around and left the store straight away. Therefore I can't give any further information about the food. Very disappointing.

Simply bad service. Not like in a brasserie. I felt like I was in a bar. The whole thing is a bit loveless.

I had fish and chips. A “crispy baked fish fillet” and “the British classic reinterpreted” were advertised. I received a pitifully fried, strictly geometric convenience product with McDonald's fries and about 5 ml of standard tartar sauce. Every hospital canteen can do better with this “new interpretation” 😂 - and for €18.50. Too bad, opportunity wasted.

Great location with a view of Lake Phoenix. We went to Westermann's for family breakfast on Easter Sunday. The breakfast menu offers great dishes for every taste. My highlights were the croissant with salmon and the farmer's scrambled eggs. The service was super friendly and very attentive. We'll definitely be back, and not just at breakfast time.

I was alone at Westermanns Brasserie and Bar today due to a business trip. I should mention that I arrived without a reservation. The place was three-quarters full when I arrived in the sunshine around 6:30 p.m. I'll start with the service. The friendly lady was really great. She gave it her all and practically ran from one table to the next. So it definitely wasn't her fault. Despite the stress, she always had a smile on her face and was very customer-friendly. However, I had the feeling that there was at least one person too few to wait/work at the bar. So, it took far too long for drinks. That's just a snapshot for me. This is my first time here and probably won't be back anytime soon for work reasons to form a second opinion, but I would definitely do it again if I'm in the area again! Now for the food. I had a Jägerschnitzel (hunter's schnitzel) with fries. The Jäger sauce was delicious. It didn't taste artificial at all, which is something I've had before. I can't complain about that. Unfortunately, the fries were very small and hard. They were also oversalted. The mayonnaise came in small packets, like you'd find in a fast-food restaurant. You can do better than that! The atmosphere is very cozy; I felt comfortable. From where I was sitting, you could also see the sunset, which was very beautiful. However, as the sun set, it got so dark at my seat that the tealight on the table illuminated my schnitzel. The place could definitely be lit a bit more. Most of the other seats are better lit. There's quiet music playing in the background, which creates a nice atmosphere. The next time I'm at Phönixsee, I'll go to Westermann's Brasserie and Bar again and would love to see the nice lady relieved by more employees.

There were 13 of us eating in the brasseria. The service was mediocre. We found the atmosphere to be rather sterile. The food was consistently good. Kudos to the kitchen.

Nice atmosphere, quick and friendly service. Nice location, great view. However, the menu (we had breakfast as a couple) reads cool and modern and leaves a lot of expectations. Scrambled eggs with country bread was satisfying and mainstream…. But far from extraordinary, the bread is ready-made sliced ​​bread (more like pre-sliced ​​discounter goods) and certainly not country bread. The presentation is also very mainstream and rather old-fashioned (butter separately on a lettuce leaf) Dishes are rather wildly mixed and more intentional than skillful. The muesli with fresh fruit and natural yoghurt for just under 9 is a disgrace: 1 quartered strawberry, 1 tbsp blueberries, 1 physalis. Prepared like in kindergarten, muesli simple, loveless and inexpensive mixture without seeds, nuts or kernels. And the yogurt is far from creamy. Unfortunately that was nothing The cappuccino was delicious, very small and very expensive (just under 5,-) 1/2 avocado fresh, tasty and nicely prepared. Without spices, but with herbs (?) for just under 5, - unfortunately not a real recommendation. All in all, kind of a “3”. Everything reads nicely on the map, but is not achieved in reality and is absolutely no better than mediocre. Too bad.

In my opinion, the selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes is too limited and drink prices are high.

A pleasant brasserie with good cuisine. The food we ordered (house currywurst, veal cordon blue and the Klaasik burger) was completely to our satisfaction. We found the ambience very good, but UNFORTUNATELY some mothers and their children around 2 to 3 years old mistook the brasserie for a children's playground, so we left the brasserie very quickly after eating. The waitress didn't intervene, which we and a few other guests didn't like.

We spent a lovely New Year's Eve here in a great atmosphere, with good food and matching drinks. The service was also attentive and present!

I ordered goose legs and breast for Christmas Eve. Delivered only clubs. Unfortunately the packaging of the red cabbage and broth was very poor. In a simple Styrofoam container so that the broth from the red cabbage ran out. For the price you can expect better packaging. A leg doesn't have any skin left on it. I'm disappointed.

Good day, We had a little something to eat there on December 14, 2024 between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. After breakfast I got another waffle, unfortunately there was only one waffle on the plate, not like the pictures, otherwise everything else was missing. It felt very cold in the rooms for me and my partner (18 degrees). That's why we had to warm up first when we got home.

The food was good, although I missed a salad or a side salad. Should be included in the prices. The eye eats too. That means...it was done carelessly. The service was OK. Even if the side salad I ordered contained things that I hadn't explicitly ordered. Even though she noticed it, there was no offer to bring me a new one. The ambience: the dirty plates were stacked higher and higher at the serving hatch. Instead of putting these away, more piles were started. Not very appetizing if you have to look at it all the time. Conclusion: it was quite nice, the food was tasty too, but I don't have to drive to Lake Phönix for that.

Westermanns Brasserie & Bar in Dortmund offers an elegant ambience on Lake Phoenix. The steak I enjoyed there was excellently prepared and tasted very appealing. The selection of dishes is diverse and places emphasis on high-quality ingredients. However, the fries didn't live up to my expectations; they were less convincing. Overall, it's a nice place for a relaxed meal, but you might want to make a different choice when it comes to side dishes.

Very nice restaurant, I ordered a Kaiserschmarrn and found it very tasty, one of the best I've eaten in the Dortmund area (maybe even North Rhine-Westphalia). Food: Kaiserschmarrn was excellent Service: The service was also very nice and immediately available. Atmosphere: Very nice, the interior furnishings and the view of Lake Phoenix are wonderful. The only mango in this case would be that the Kaiserschmarrn cost 16.5€, which is quite a high price (perhaps 2-3 euros less would be more suitable), but in this case you can also accept that because the Kaiserschmarrn is really top and good was. I will visit this restaurant again, it deserves 5 stars.

Perfect - we spontaneously went there with our dog on Sunday and enjoyed a second breakfast in a lovely atmosphere. The poached eggs with salmon are a delight. Friendly and accommodating, the water for our dog was ready before we sat down. Gladly again at any time.

Unfortunately our visit was very disappointing. The service was rude and unprofessional. The menu was thrown at our table without a greeting, and when we politely asked if the table could be wiped down we were only met with an annoyed look. In addition, there was no explanation whatsoever about the cakes or other dishes on offer, and no suggestions were made. In the end we didn't feel like it anymore and only took what we needed. In comparison, the restaurant next door offers significantly better service and far more friendliness.

We used to go to Westermanns on Kaiserstrasse very often and were always happy there At Lake Phönix we were surprised at how prices were raised, e.g. B a hamburger for €27.90. Of course we didn't take it because it was completely overpriced. In our opinion, the price-performance ratio for the other dishes is also not good. On our first visit we had the soft ice cream for dessert and it was no problem mixing two types. On our next visit we were told that the "boss" had forbidden mixing varieties and that we had to pay €4.80 for each variety. We then limited ourselves to one variety. By the way, we are a group of 10 people and will not be going there again.

Dear people!!! If you still have some self-esteem and are of the opinion that as a guest you should be satisfied with quality products and service, it is better not to go here. And now for the experience... It has always been interesting for me to eat at Westermanns am Phönixsee. I thought that due to the location and fairly high prices, you got a good concept. I was very wrong. There is no cold non-carbonated water, but there is warm ginger ale. It is brought with a glass which is 2/3 filled with ice. When it melts you have a pretty unpleasant taste. Afterwards there were 2 x fried fish (19.90 EUR/portion) with fries and “grilled vegetables” (6.20 EUR). My fried fish was disappointed itself. The ground was quite muddy and generally very tasteless. It was probably frozen beforehand or out of the package. Fries (definitely from the packaging) tasted very much like oil, grilled vegetables looked more like a frozen product from the packaging. The children's burger was actually the best of the range. Maybe because the rest was so bad. Then came the bill for EUR 64.80. The only reason I rounded up to 65 EUR was because I didn't want any change. The “nice” lady quite demonstratively put the glass to the side very loudly and gave me lots of change. Maybe there really weren't any bills. She left without saying goodbye. She also didn't ask if everything was okay. I think she knew a little more than we did. A few hours later there was still a very unpleasant aftertaste. Maybe the shop is just in a nice location for lovers of “fairground gastronomy” who like to eat the same thing. If this is the case, I apologize.

In terms of price, you can say that Westermanns is way up there for a brasserie, even taking into account the high rental prices on the lake. One dish that we didn't order, but can still judge from the fries, particularly stands out here. CURRYWURST WITH FRIES €13.90 So this dish urgently needs to be significantly adjusted or improved in terms of price. Even with a less pleasant atmosphere, for €6.50 you can get a significantly better product in the chip kitchen around the corner for less than half the price! The fries at Westermanns are run of the mill, they don't work at all and especially not for the price, even if the quantity delivered is very large. Better choose another side dish! The cheese spaetzle was excellent and almost cheap compared to the fries due to the small additional charge Overall, Westermanns is worth a visit if you're on a tight budget (€82, 2 main courses, 4x 0.2 Pepsi)

Unfortunately really disappointing. I've been there twice now and on the first visit I realized that the quality of the burgers doesn't come close to the quality of the Lüner location. In Lünen there was a homemade, juicy patty while at Phoenixsee it felt like a mass-produced frozen patty 🤷‍♀️ (I had the truffle burger in both shops ~€29.90) On the second visit I had Jägerschnitzel and after about 3 bites I pulled a 4-5cm black hair (I have long blonde hair) out of the schnitzel breading... Then I was no longer hungry. To be honest, I no longer had any appetite for a free dessert from the kitchen. In the end the waiter gave us 10% on the rest of the bill, but well… I didn't think that was really appropriate 🤷‍♀️ (2x passion fruit spritzer and 1x currywurst from my friend = €22.90-10%… so €2.29 discount for a hair in the food... I would have been happier if they had bought me my spritzer, but well, I guess that's not possible. The waiter, who we were only allowed to point out when we wanted to pay, that we had already come to the front and waited for his attention because he was on his cell phone, he noticed that 10% wasn't much for us... but well, it didn't change anything 😅) I expected a different level of quality here based on the look of the store and my experiences in Lünen and I was really disappointed 🤷‍♀️

8.50 p.m. - The kitchen closed - no greeting at all. Maybe that was the greeting. When we asked if we could sit outside, the waitress (male) said quite briskly that he was no longer serving outside. When asked whether we should go to the Porto (next door), he cheekily said again, “It’s fine.” We live right by the lake and will avoid this store in the near future.
