Zafferano in Heidelberg

The spaghetti all'Amatriciana was very tasty, but very spicy. Those who can't tolerate spicy food, or only a little, should order a different dish.

Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with the pizza. As an Italian, I've never eaten such a bad pizza... The dough was dry and they just poured cold tuna on top. Not recommended... you'd better find a real Italian place!

I ordered the most expensive pizza buffalo for 19 EUR and it was sliding in water, the dough and cheese were separate and falling like liquid apart. The worst pizza ever had, even worst that 2 EUR frozen pizzas from supermarkt. I complained and the guy said, thats how it is. Lols

They said it is closed at 21:30. It says it is open till 23:30.

It's a wonderful place to eat. 100% recommended.

I had a delicious dinner at Zafferano. It was a very cute and comfortable place. I had the pasta with sausage and it was amazing. They also speak, English which is helpful. The staff is warm and friendly. Overall it is a great place to eat. It is also close to train station. I recommended it to my good friends who live in Heidelberg.

We returned for a second visit to this restaurant, which is close to the Body museum and Leonardo Hotel. I ate antipasto misti, malloreddus and shared a saffron pudding . I find the food to be absolutely delicious, with very high quality ingredients and well balanced flavours. The antipasto included some delicious sardinian specialities and the malloreddus was so perfectly cooked and flavourful. The desserts are really very good too. The staff are friendly, attentive and knowledgable about the wine list and the menu options. The ambiance is informal and welcoming, it was perfect for us to have a long family meal with no pressure. It is well worth a visit.

We stumbled upon this small but exquisite osteria with Sardinian specialties by chance. The pasta dish, pizza, and salad were fantastic. You can tell you're not eating at a "Germanized" Italian restaurant. The service also left nothing to be desired, which is a shame we live so far away. We'll definitely go back next time we visit Heidelberg!

We got a table without having to wait, and ordering was quick. The service was very fast and on the ball 🫶 very attentive, and we were asked several times if everything was okay. Great pizza 😍 The side salad was also good. Highly recommended espresso. The pasta dishes also looked great, as did the appetizer board. We'd love to come back 🙋‍♀️

The restaurant's decor is simple and rustic, but that doesn't detract from the service, friendliness, or quality of the food. A typical Sardinian restaurant with really friendly staff. We were there with five people and everyone ate something different, and everyone loved it! Just like a true Sardinian would. We'd happily return!

We had to wait an hour for two standard pizzas when the place was really quiet. It's completely unacceptable. Not recommended if you're hungry!

I am visiting Zafferano since many year when I go to northern Germany and I have time to stop by. A piece of Sardegna has floates by the Neckar! Try anything in the menu, ask the super-kind staff what to choose among plenty traditional recipes with a touch of novelty and enjoy an ashtonishing selection of wines. The best of the best.

There were three of us there, two adults and a child. We were greeted warmly and ordered a delicious starter plate, salad with warm vegetables, pasta with tomato sauce, pizza Magherita and pizza with olives. We enjoyed everything very much. The service was very good. We'd love to come back.

It was a weekday when we visited, so it was not overcrowded. Service was friendly and fast. The starters plate, wines and pasta dish with salmon were all delicious. They also sell pasta.

We had the mixed starters and pasta with it. The food was very tasty and the service was excellent. We haven't been so convinced and excited about an Italian restaurant in a long time.

If you want to visit a slightly different Italian restaurant, this is the right place for you. There are Italian specialties here that are not on every menu. There is a huge wine selection. The food is great for the price and highly recommended! The ambience could be nicer, but as you know, it's all about the food😉

The meal was good, the service very pleasant and we had a great time. Special mention for pizzas in returnable boxes, which avoids cardboard boxes. This idea appeals to me!

I happened to walk past Zafferano while looking for a tasty dinner and spontaneously decided to stay. The furnishings and ambience are reduced to the bare essentials, the light is a bit cool and could be a little more comfortable. But all of this is more than compensated for by the very friendly service staff and, above all, the food and drink. A look at the menu quickly makes it clear that great emphasis is placed on as much as necessary and as good as possible. The small version of the Antipasti Misti is a good start and leaves you wanting more! For the main course we decide on two daily recommendations: the tagliatelle with porcini mushrooms and saffron sauce and the pizza with spicy marinated pulp and red onions. Both dishes are simply perfect and prepared to perfection: the pasta is al dente and the sauce is delicately seasoned. The pizza is paper-thin, the edges are crispy and the toppings are delicious! Plus two different red wines on recommendation. The good thing about it: all of the wines on the menu can also be bought by the bottle on site - as can olive oil and other delicacies. We really enjoyed the food and will definitely come back!

We were here in Heidelberg just for a short vacation and it was a coincidence that we were eating there...we were hungry and actually just wanted to find an Italian restaurant and we found a Sardinian one!!! Anyone who has ever been on holiday in Sardinia will immediately feel like they are there! The selection of food and wine and the typical Ichnusa beer are perfect and super tasty! We particularly recommend the typical Sardinian Culurgiones.....they were like being on holiday in Arbatax!!! It's a shame that Heidelberg is so far away from us otherwise we would eat there more often! How nice that you can also order wines, beers, olive oils, etc. online! Ciao 😍

Great selection of (affordable!) wines and good food. The wines are all from Sardegna, and that simple fact makes that they are already more interesting than most big Italian names. The food is faithful to Italian tradition with good ingredients and no complicated dishes. Even though they warned me that everything could take a bit more time because it was very busy, the service was still quite quick and very friendly. Strongly reccomended!

The Zafferano restaurant in Heidelberg is a highly recommended restaurant and deserves 4 stars. The Italian food here is authentic and delicious, with a wide range of classic and creative dishes. Pasta and fish dishes are particularly noteworthy – freshly prepared and delicious. The atmosphere is cozy yet stylish, perfect for a relaxed evening. The service is friendly and attentive, although the waiting time can sometimes be short, especially when the restaurant is full. The price is a bit high but quite acceptable considering the quality of the food. All in all a great Italian restaurant and definitely worth a try!

I went there because it was recommended by a local. Relatively casual and homely atmosphere. The staff were kind. The salmon with saffron sauce was delicious.

Our wishes were: sweet wine spritzer, Spezi, Cola beer. Unfortunately we couldn't get any of it. After a long wait, we were informed by a waiter who unfortunately seemed very arrogant that such special requests were not possible. You can expect more in this price range. So no thanks, please not again.

Hallo liebe Freunde der sardischen Küche in dazu passender Umgebung, auch nachdem mit Frank einer der beiden Gründer des Lokals ausgeschieden ist kann die Küche mit neuem/alten Küchenchef Slavi Slavov unter der Führung von Inhaber Antonio Sotgiu (Sarde!) ihr bisheriges Niveau halten! Und das sehr stabil! Bin 14-tägig Gast seit Bestehen des Lokals und wurde noch nie enttäuscht. In den letzten 4 Wochen konnte ich sogar 2x einen Gruß an die Küche als Lob durchgeben ... Wer also eine deftigere Variante wohlbekannter italienischer Gerichte mag ist hier gut aufgehoben! Sehr erwähnenswert ist die ungewöhnlich große Auswahl an offener Weinen (natürlich allesamt aus Sardinien!), meine persönlichen Favoriten sind der Vermentino Funtanaliras (weiß) aus dem NO Sardiniens und der Niederra (rosé). Das Angebot an Rotweinen ist erschlagend - aber der stets gut aufgelegte Service berät da gerne. Die von mir heißgeliebte "Kaninchenkeule" ist leider aktuell nicht mehr auf der Karte, ich empfehle daher einen Blick auf die aushängende Abendkarte. Guten Appetit + LG Ernest

Es war unser zweiter Besuch im Zafferano und auch unser letzter. Das ausgesuchte Pastagericht bestand aus viel Nudeln, ein wenig Salsiccia, ein bisschen Tomatensoße und ebenfalls wenig Pecorino. Geschmacklich auch nicht umwerfend. Allerdings teuer für ein Pastagericht.

This restaurant is superb. The food quality is excellent, dishes are imaginative and the service is friendly and professional. We were in Heidelberg for a week and ate here three times.

Taste better than expected It wasn't great.

I enjoyed ordering and eating your pizza, but that's it for good. I have no understanding for such nonsense. A pizzeria that no longer offers pizza boxes, but rather recycling boxes for a 10 euro deposit! You have to imagine where we have reached now. A pizza to-go only tastes good in a traditional pizza box and not in a plastic box. Plus, I don't have the time or desire to come back to the store to hand in the plastic pizza box and get my deposit. And goodbye

Ordered pizza to be picked up (field staff, only on the drive through) and now I have an ugly, scratched Tupperbox for €15 that you can't hand in anywhere else... if this had been on the homepage, I would never have ordered there!

We had a fantastic meal! Each dish was so unique and delicious! I had never before heard of the pasta/sauce combos we ordered. Very kind, patient, and knowledgeable staff who also shared great advice for substitutions in the kids' choices. A great all-around experience!!! (Plus, there was a convenient parking structure right in front of the restaurant.)

Der Speck in meiner Pasta hat geschmeckt als wäre er nicht mehr gut. Ich habe nur 2 Gabeln von der Pasta gegessen und dann freundlich Bescheid gesagt. Leider gab es weder eine Entschuldigung noch wurde mir ein Ersatz angeboten. Stattdessen wurde mir mit der Aussage es sei nicht möglich, das Essen von der Rechnung zu nehmen, lediglich der Wein erlassen (der war zu stornieren?). 15,90 €... Ich habe mich sehr darüber geärgert.

Reisen den Süden für ein Abendessen. Laute Gespräche, wuseliges Treiben, einfache, zweckmäßige Einrichtung, keine überladene Deko. Authentisch! Ein Lokal wie wir schon so einige in Italien, Portugal oder Spanien besucht haben. Hier sind Wein und leckeres Essen die Hauptdarsteller - molto bene.

Gutes Essen, schlechter Service. Wir warteten auf unser Essen um die Mittagszeit 45 min. Auf Freundliche Nachfrage wann das kinderessen kommt, weil der kleine Hunger hat, kam ein nüchternes 'achso...' Beim Salerno in der Brückenstraße macht man als Gast ganz andere Erfahrungen - kinderfreundlich, zügige Zubereitung und gute Qualität. Unser Aufenthalt im Zafferano war leider enttäuschend. Wir wünschen allen anderen Gästen eine bessere Erfahrung.

Wir hatten Körperwelten besucht und anschließend das kleine aber feine Restaurant mit Außenbestuhlung in der Nähe entdeckt. Nachdem es draußen ziemlich heiß war, empfahl uns der nette Kellner einen Platz im Innenbereich. Im Restaurant kann man auch Nudeln, Wein ,Olivenöl etc. kaufen. Wir hatten ein Nudelgericht, Pizza und einen gemischen Salat und waren sehr zufrieden. Der Kellner war sehr freundlich und die Preise waren gut.

Dass man bei Zafferano die beste Pizza in Heidelberg genießen kann, ist ja kein Geheimnis. Man kann aber auch nicht eine bessere Pasta mit Lachs auf der ganzen Welt finden, die leckerer schmeckt als die einfach p-e-r-f-e-k-t-e-n Linguine mit Lachs von Zafferano. Ein Traum aus saftigem Lachs, Safran und natürlich sardischem Weißwein.

All'interno si posso acquistare prodotti tipici di qualità. Una cantina eccellente completa il locale. Ambiente informale. Consigliato se passate in zona!

Das Lokal befindet sich zentral in Heidelberg in der Nähe des Carree-Centers. Dementsprechend sitzt man, wenn man draußen sitzt, an der Straße. Die Auswahl an Speisen und Getränke ist überschaubar aber ausreichend. Durch die Lage des Lokals und die sehr überschaubaren Portionen passt das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis jedoch nicht. Verglichen mit anderen Italienern leider nicht ganz überzeugend. Der Servie war jedoch zu jederzeit sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend, wenn auch nicht ganz so zügig.
