I was at Restaurant Xiao in Marl today and I was absolutely thrilled! The food was not only incredibly delicious and fresh, but also lovingly prepared. The atmosphere in the restaurant is cozy and inviting; you immediately feel at home. I would like to give special praise to the waitress Violetta. From the very beginning, she was incredibly warm, attentive, and friendly. You can immediately tell that she does her job with a lot of love and joy. Her smile and positive attitude made our visit even more enjoyable. Thank you for the wonderful evening!! I'll definitely be back🥰🤗

Everything was great. Delicious food. Good service. The only thing I didn't understand was that, despite the many free seats, we were offered a table in the sun, which caused some discomfort.

Were there again after a long time and I have to say - wow. It was super tasty. Totally relaxed and also great given the time on a Sunday. There really is something for everyone. After the renovation, I didn't think the offer was as good as before. The stir-fries are a nice addition, but at the expense of the simple fried dishes.

Overall we had a lovely evening! The food was tasty but nothing exceptional. The ambience... well: Xiao-moderate. Very large and therefore loud, but countermeasures have already been taken. A big bright spot: the service. Krystina made our evening even sweeter. An attentive, very friendly, hard-working and humorous employee! She made our evening special. Thanks for that!

Quite a good house despite the size. Everyone can find something for themselves here. Fresh salads, desserts and whatever Chinese food your heart desires.

Personally, I didn't see anything negative, the atmosphere was clean and the noise level was quite pleasant during the week. Staff nice and polite. Food is just what you are used to from XIAO.

Marl on March 21, 2025 Positive: The food was really very good, the service from the ladies who looked after us (Jdine and Denise) was excellent (you can't do it better). Negative: After a while the doors were opened because the weather was wonderful, unfortunately also the kitchen doors. There was an unbearable smell of chlorine in our corner, which caused nausea and headaches (for a little eight-year-old boy). We were told that this was always done in nice, warm, sunny weather. For this reason I'm thinking about eating there again!! Hence the 2 stars for the ambience!

If you don't drink pear-elderberry lemonade there, it's your own fault! Dishanan was a very attentive and nice waitress! He was funny, but not too pushy. Next time I want to have a table with him again.

I ate there with my friend, the atmosphere was very pleasant and you were shown straight to the table. We had a waitress for the whole evening and we had the love of Joline. Joline was very polite and always asked if you wanted something to drink or if everything was okay. The food there was delicious, there was something for everyone. The live cooking was also very good. We were there almost until the end and we were very kindly asked again if we would like another coffee before the machine was cleaned.

It was a very nice evening and we had a very nice waitress named Violetta. They had made ours even better.

The toilets were so dirty that my little son has now learned to pee standing up.

I can't recommend this restaurant because the freshly prepared food wasn't cooked all the way through, and the squid, for example, tasted rubbery. It wasn't just Asian, but also Arabic and South American, and there was a huge ice cream counter and a sweet corner as decoration for the ice cream. The huge room on one level with a two-step landing was anything but cozy; they were clearly trying to cram as many tables into the space as possible. What a shame about the lovely evening and the food, which was then partially returned. The next day, I was lying in bed at home, nausea and vomiting.

After Gelsenkirchen I also tested Marl and have to say that the food being too cold is probably normal. The soup was lukewarm but quite tasty. Because Xiao consciously avoids glutamate, the taste is different than most other restaurants. One likes it, the other doesn't. It was definitely okay, even if the spicy dishes were too represented for me personally. And when Xiao writes sharply, they mean it. The area at the buffet is quite narrow, so you quickly end up in a crowd. The arrangement on the grill is particularly unfavorable. You have to live with the fact that a queue will form there. The atmosphere is quite nice, you almost forget that you are sitting in a hall. The toilet area takes some getting used to. You stand unprotected in line with the entrance door at the urinal. Since the women's toilet is further back, women and especially children walk past the partially open door and have a look. Not particularly nice for the ladies. The staff is friendly, polite and very hard working. There are sufficient parking spaces available in front of the restaurant. Unfortunately you have to pay at the cash register in the entrance area, which quickly leads to traffic jams. All in all, I think the Xiao in Marl is OK. But unfortunately nothing more. Too many things that bother me. But most of all, the lukewarm food. So I can't make any recommendations.

The food was very high quality and delicious. The quality of the meat was also absolutely good and all dishes were warm. The selection was very diverse, from sushi to curries and various desserts. The staff in particular were very friendly, thanks to Dishanan for the friendly service!!

We had a friendly welcome and were given a place even without a reservation. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful at any time. We really enjoyed the food and the selection was very extensive. We would love to come back and bring more guests with us.

First of all, I have been a chef for 41 years and head chef for 30 years, i.e. from the catering industry and I can assess what I see and experience. We arrived on a Sunday at 8.30 p.m., no good evening, we only have the buffet open for 30 minutes, it won't be refilled anymore. Take a seat . Well, the internet says until 10 p.m. and the buffet is maintained until 30 minutes before the end. Oh, let's make an announcement. Due to lack of time, we decided to stay. The buffet was 1/3 empty, but there was still enough choice to fill you up easily. However, you had to avoid all dishes with chili peppers because they were so saturated with chili that they were inedible. Curry rice required a hammer and chisel, and fried noodles had broken down into pieces when dug out. But there were still a few things that could be used to combat hunger. The only thing I found cheeky was the price. 24.50 for me and 20 for my 15 year old daughter. Well, once, never again, in the future I'd rather visit an inn where cooks actually stand in the back and make an effort.

We visited Xiao's in Marl for the first time yesterday. One positive was that there are plenty of parking spaces on site, which are also free to use. When we walked in, Krystina greeted us and offered us a table. A short time later, she came back and asked what we would like to drink and "opened" the buffet for us. There, many different dishes awaited us, and we filled our small plates several times. The food was always freshly prepared and there was something for every taste. We also really liked the sushi bar; there was a large selection and everything was constantly being refilled. You can also put together your own plate of raw food, which is then prepared on-site by a chef. We felt very comfortable in the restaurant with good food and excellent service from Krystina, who had a great overview of the entire venue and cleared away empty plates promptly. We will definitely come back again 👍🏻

A visually stunning restaurant. Unfortunately, everything else can't compete. About the food: Where do I begin? Rice, no matter which variety: either almost raw or mushy and tasteless. Meat: cold, dry, and flavorless. Fish/seafood: either still raw inside or overcooked/grilled - simply inedible. Sushi: sour, hard rice. There really wasn't anything we really enjoyed. It's just a shame for the food, which is actually good and great. Service: We were asked twice if we liked it. Twice we had to answer "Unfortunately not." And both times we were practically ignored afterward. No one asked why or what the problem was. We would have liked to comment. But nobody seems to care, or they know it's so bad and have accepted it. It's just a shame. You have so much potential. But if you can't even make decent fried rice or fried noodles, then I don't know what else to say.

I was there on Wednesday last week. It wasn't that busy. It was clean and the staff is very friendly. What I don't like at all is the food. There were dumplings, but only one type and without meat. A really good selection of food and drinks that go well beyond the standard Chinese buffet. And what can't be emphasized enough: I don't know of any other restaurant that has reduced prices again after the general increases of the last few years! You have to give the operators a lot of credit for that. The lunch buffet in particular for just under €15 cannot be beaten in terms of price-performance ratio! Super!

An absolute disappointment – ​​tested three times, regretted three times! We've been to Xiao in Marl a total of three times in the last year and a half - both for lunch and dinner. Every time we swore we wouldn't come back because it was just disgusting. And yet we thought, maybe it was just a bad day, maybe they've improved. Unfortunately not! The food was always cold or lukewarm, and there were often only leftovers in the buffet pots that weren't refilled for over 30 to 45 minutes. Even when something came, it was either already half cold or didn't taste fresh. The worst thing of all: we couldn't tolerate the food every time! On the first visit we thought it might have been bad luck. The second time we were skeptical. After the third visit we are certain: never again! Terrible service, poor quality and just a disgrace for the price. They advertise a 30% permanent discount online - yes, even if they offered an 80% discount, that would no longer be an option for us. And we know many of our friends who see it the same way. Too bad!

During our visit this time, we were informed at the entrance that many guests would arrive spontaneously and that the waiting time could be a little longer. The service staff were nevertheless very attentive and friendly. A reservation is recommended. Prices have now been permanently reduced after Christmas. Lunch buffet during the week starting at €14.90 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. and afterwards for €24.90. There are reduced prices for children and young people. On weekends and public holidays, the buffet selection and prices vary slightly

To say "really bad" would be an understatement for this XIAO branch. During our two-hour stay on a Sunday afternoon, the buffet was 90 percent empty and was not refilled even when requested and advised. The only thing that worked smoothly was the drinks supply. I don't come from 30 kilometers away to find myself standing in front of completely empty warming containers in an almost empty restaurant. The store started well years ago, but has now really declined. I praise smaller, fine Asian restaurants and will definitely avoid this food factory with my family in the future.

Unfortunately, today was a total failure. Some of the food was cold and overcooked... lots of dirty plates. We were there with 5 people. Unfortunately it didn't convince me.

We liked the self-composed fish and vegetable menu, including UDON noodles and garlic barbecue sauce (No. 7 & 8), the best...! Except that the fish was fried a little too briefly because it wasn't completely cooked through, and the broccoli was still too hard. The allergens are clearly labeled for all dishes. The duck wasn't crispy enough, but rather wobbly, is usually sold out, and is only refilled late, when you're already full...! The chocolate fountains haven't been working for weeks...! The salmon fillet at the evening buffet is very tasty...! Only the yellow curry rice is far too hard, dry, and mostly empty...! It won't be filled until hours later...! Please also mark the high degree of spiciness of the chillies and jalapenos in the rice...! The buffet selection is very varied and acceptable...! The churros for dessert are often way too hard, so much so that your gums hurt...! The waitress (Anita) is very fast and friendly, and always knows which drinks I want to order...! Sometimes the dirty plates could just be cleared away a little quicker...! The music at the lunch buffet and usually late in the evening is too loud and inappropriate for an Asian restaurant, as usually only house or club sounds are played instead of Chinese sounds...! Overall, still recommended if you have a spontaneous fish craving in the evening! And child-friendly prices...!!!

We were there today at 5 p.m. and paid 24.95 per person (buffet). Drinks are charged extra. Not exactly cheap... For my Jacky Cola I paid 7.00 for a glass (0.3) - a proud price. You have to say there was very little Jacky in it. Positive: Free parking, nice atmosphere, lots of choice of food, child friendly. Negative: The sushi was terrible, as if it had been there for 3 days. Anything fried on the bedside table was terrible. Our plates weren't picked up until there were 6 pieces there and they were taken away. We would have liked to have something to drink, but since no one came after 20 minutes, we paid! PS: It wasn't full... Behind my husband there was a cupboard with a bucket for washing up, and when the waitress threw the cleaning cloth in, the water splashed on my husband... Not exactly appetizing.

I found the price for the late buffet not exactly cheap at 24.90 euros. The service was very bad when clearing up. After 30 minutes we already had 4 small plates stacked for 2 people. There was probably a container of dishwashing water behind me, the waitress sprayed the water onto my neck with a cloth and didn't even notice it. But the way she threw the rag in there couldn't be overlooked. Not an apology came from her and it wasn't stressfully busy at the time. I used to think it was better there. It's a shame, because I actually like the store.

We like to go to XIAO because of the variety of food. All the service staff are very nice and Krystina is great at transporting glasses 💪🥛🥛🥛🥛🥛💪
