We were very happy with the food at Xaver’s. The service was quick and friendly. The food tasted good and was plentiful. Great praise for the fact that a lot of it is organic, so the prices are completely reasonable.

The food and ambience were OK, the menu balanced. The service staff seemed poorly organized and not customer focused. Despite several small faux pas (not bringing a card or taking an order, forgetting some of the drinks, etc.), each time an indifferent reaction followed instead of a short apology. It's a shame that the service drags down the overall experience.

Delicious meal with pleasant company

We were here for a business lunch. The atmosphere is very nice, but at first I had long black hair in my salad - this was only commented on with an "oh". The salad was then replaced upon request but there was no gesture of apology. In addition, the snack board only comes with a small slice of bread (in 2 halves), which of course is not enough for sausage, cheese, obazda, tartare, etc.: so we ordered 2 more bread baskets. The surprise on the bill was that each bread basket (without saying this when ordering) costs €2.50 extra. For me it's just a ploy to make more profit. The focus here is on maximizing sales and not on the guests, so unfortunately no recommendation.

Not traditional German food but very tasty, great service and nice seating (both interior and outdoor). Portion is actually very unGerman - meaning quite small - and pricy as well.

Food was more or less okay, nothing that blew you away.

Price-performance ratio is not right. Prices too high even for us as Munich residents. For a salad (with chicken) that costs €24, an extra €3 for 3 mini pieces of bread is simply cheeky!

we were there on August 3rd. there. Not right at lunchtime. Many tables were filled. Nobody made us aware of the long waiting times. In the end we waited an hour for our food. (Schnitzel and meat patties with potato salad) ... in my opinion it's a no-go not to point this out to customers. But food was good.

Unfortunately I have to make a negative comment here. We sat down at one of the many free tables and were sent away again, apparently it was reserved... The neighboring table had already complained that they had been waiting for their order for 50 minutes. A pity

Great food. We really enjoyed the roast beef. The service was friendly and quick. Unfortunately the portion was a bit manageable. For 31 euros I expect a meal that will fill me up.

I can't really rank this place since we were there on a street event (organized by them). There was a Bavarian band playing, and the atmosphere was great. The staff was nice and cheerful. The food offered for the occasion was limited to a couple of choices, and the quality was really mediocre.

If it weren’t for Xaver’s, the neighborhood would be missing something. It was a summer festival again and, as always, there was a wonderful atmosphere.

I love this place. It’s a youth / modern uplift of traditional Bavarian/Munich bar & restaurant. The staff is very qualified , friendly and quick. The food is great and the beers are always cold & fresh, especially when they are served from the wooden barrel “Holzfass”. A must visit in Munich with great outdoor spaces and nicely decorated interior spaces.

This is a fantastic spot for enjoying authentic Bavarian dishes and German beer. I had a great time for lunch there, enjoying the cozy, traditional atmosphere. I am always a fan of the German beer! If you're looking to experience Bavarian cuisine and enjoy some quality beer, you should check out this place!

Very tasty food, fast and friendly service! We ordered a Kaiserschmarren in advance as dessert 45 minutes after the main course! This request was implemented optimally by waiter Felix! The pictures speak for themselves👍🏼 We'd love to come back! Reservation is an advantage!

Tartar and schnitzel from another star. Highly Recommended. Unfortunately there were some problems with the service on the second visit. "Forgot" reservation, waiter inattentive.

Nice setting on a street corner. Ample outside seating. Friendly service. We had „Wiener Schnitzel“ which was incredibly thin (about a millimeter“) and overpriced at € 33. (yes, it’s supposed to be thin, but this felt like a rip-off). Similarly, the fried chicken thighs came in a thick batter crust with little meat. Less expensive at € 20. Nice for drinks. Avoid the food.

Despite the admission stop, they made everything possible. To organize a great table for us. We only had to wait a short time and they brought us an ice cream chilled Augustiner! Splendid!

Very attentive service in a traditional outfit! Plus an appealing mix of rustic tavern charm and modern colors/materials. Not as touristy as the central inns. The locals like to go here. And rightly so! The food and drink are also delicious and plentiful. Happy to come back on your next visit to Munich!

Wasn't overly impressed wih the food offered. Wasn't bad just average.

Absolutely okay but no more! I ordered a beef tartare as a starter, which was perfectly acceptable. I chose the Roste Beef as my main course. It was nicely presented, but more like a salad with roast beef! The herb salad was mentioned last on the menu when describing the dish, so I expected a small side salad. However, 3/4 of my plate was pure salad, which wasn't really tasty. In summary, however, I have to say that the service gets 5 stars from me! Very attentive and polite. The ambience is exactly what you expect. The food wasn't a highlight, so unfortunately I only gave it 3 stars.

One of Munich‘s most „modern & traditional“ Bavarian restaurants. Go for a Schnitzel or a cold beer from the wooden barrel. Finish up with a Mousse au Chocolate. Plus: most friendly people on town!

Xaver is a clean German pub located well away from the tourist masses of Marienplatz, and it was conveniently a 5 minute walk from my hotel. Xavar serves up traditional and modern German fare...elevated to the next level. In a city where you can get a German sausage just about anywhere, its nice to have something..."nicer". Corn & Cauliflower Foam Soup...whoa! Smooth, creamy, corny, and creative. And healthy? Roasted Catfish...wow! Roasted perfectly and spiced heavenly. Wiener Schnitzel...you can find this everywhere in Munich, but Xavar's deep fried breading has some extra magic to it...traditional and delicious. Service was typical genuine German, not fake friendly American, efficient and cordial. If you're in the area, hungry, and sick of tourist food, come to Xaver's, we were also the only tourists here. Prost!

Unfortunately everything was already occupied so we had to sit at a round table with strange people. Food was ok, beer a reasonable price.

Ambience and service good. Unfortunately, the food was average at best and significantly too expensive. One piece of roast pork was great, the other was completely tough, the sauce was very watery and the dumplings had no butter crumbs. 24h Sous Vide Spare Rips are not at all tender, but firm to the bite and not very seasoned. Standard frozen fries portion 7€

Very good restaurant Was there a total of three evenings and felt very comfortable every time. The staff was very accommodating and took good care of you despite the high volume. The food was very tasty and many of the dishes were organic. Very nicely prepared food The ambience is very pleasant, we attach great importance to getting together at “group tables”

Unfortunately, the restaurant has deteriorated greatly - service and food used to be great, but now they are mediocre and far too expensive. 6 out of 7 dishes were not as expected (beef tartar served without capers because they were out, snack plate was smaller than usual, Kaiserschmarrn was smaller than usual, juice from the roast pork was very watery). We won't come anymore!

My favorite restaurant in Munich for over 6 years and they always manage to go one better! New card for a few days: Char Matjes is simply mega!

Gravy was bland and watery. The dumpling is not worth it at all. I wouldn't have identified it as a dumpling if I had only had the taste test. The service was good and friendly.

Spontaneously got a seat and ate well

Thanks to the warm and subtle lighting, Xaver's is cozy and homely despite the chic furnishings. The pickled char with asparagus vinaigrette was - as it should be - served lukewarm. Plenty of fresh dill, chervil and parsley provided a suitable taste variety. The tender pork belly came to the table with a perfect gravy and a potato dumpling. Since the cabbage with bacon was out, a salad was served instead, which suited me. The mousse au chocolate was transferred from the mixing bowl to the dessert plate at the table - an original idea! Apart from the crumbled chocolate crumbles, the mousse was purist, which didn't diminish the enjoyment. Rather firm and not too sweet, this dessert tasted excellent to me! The service staff in stylish costumes were very attentive and quick without “bringing out the peace”. And the young blonde man who took my order and served me the food always had a smile on his face and, with this and his caring manner, helped me feel extremely comfortable even without company. The fact that he used my first name was fitting for the Bavarian inn and made me feel even more welcome. I will definitely come here again!

We entered because of the atmosphere and we loved it. Very good food and great service. If you like sweet, order the chocolate mousse. It has surprised us.

Wir sind auf Empfehlung zum Xavers gekommen mit vorheriger Tischreservierung, ohne Reservierung wohl eher schwierig einen Platz zu bekommen. Personal war überaus freundlich, authentisch, aufmerksam und flott. Küche auf hohem Niveau, kleine Karte mit ausgewählten Klassikern, top. Wiener Schnitzel war sehr lecker, Tatar vorab ebenfalls sehr gut. Eher junges, einheimisches Publikum, wenige Touristen. Nach 90 Minuten mussten wir den Tisch freimachen für die nächsten Gäste, also nicht geeignet wenn man nach dem Essen noch länger zum Trinken sitzen bleiben möchte. Fazit: Wir kommen gerne wieder, Empfehlung!

Had already reserved about 1 month ago. A day before the appointment we were informed that we only had time from 1700 - 1900, apparently reservations have recently only been made for 2 hours. None of the 5 dishes we ordered were adequate for the price/performance, which is a real shame, especially because of the positive reviews. When asked, it was stated that the wooden barrel was tapped around 1800. When we had to leave the restaurant around 1900, it still hadn't been tapped. Really very unprofessional! The only positive thing we noticed was the service. Once and never again, there are definitely better Gustl establishments.

Dinner for two, the welcome was quick and friendly. We ate well for a fair price. The place remains very (too?) noisy at dinner time.

Worst pub I've been to in a long time. Service was really slow, we waited 30 minutes until the menu finally came. Afterwards we waited a very long time to order drinks. Food is far too expensive, not justified even for Munich prices for what you get. There wasn't even a slice of bread with the snack board. You had to order and pay for everything separately. Never again!

Favorite downtown restaurants. Very nice and well-kept atmosphere, the food is excellent and the service cannot be topped. We especially took Joana and Lorenz very close to our hearts. When we last made a reservation, two wine glasses and our favorite wine and cooler were already waiting for us at the table. Simply great, you find that very rarely. Keep it up, you're awesome 😍

We were warmly welcomed and got a table with a short (5 minute) wait. The restaurant is very attractively furnished and promises more than just an ordinary pub. There is nothing wrong with the cleanliness. You can also host smaller celebrations here, even if you're not a fan of traditional Bavarian restaurants. There is more of a local audience represented. The beer was clearly fresh from the tap and served within a very short time. Of the 6 beers, 3 beers were underserved. Overall, the service was very courteous and, upon request, a main course could be converted into a starter portion. The pearl barley risotto with wild garlic was just as tasty as it sounds. The tartare with freshly grated horseradish was an exciting option. Only the toast was fried in strange-tasting fat. The Kaiserschmarrn impressed with its consistency and subtle sweetness. A little vanilla would have been the icing on the cake for our taste.

My companion and I both chose the salad with goat cheese. While my companion got a decent goat cheese thaler, I only found a few scraps on my plate. When I asked the waiter about it, my request was dismissed with shocking indifference. He claimed that it was normal for the dish to be served sometimes this way and sometimes that way. Supposedly we had the same amount and everything would fit. I was very disappointed by the waiter's indifference and the uneven portioning. Given this experience, I will not go to “Xaver’s” again. Obviously you can't be sure whether you're getting the "good" or the "bad" dish that day.

Really a fresh, smart, relaxed pub. Dedicated landlords and employees. Order an appetizer (tartar!)! Then the wait for the main course won't be that long.. =:) Addendum: had the honor of experiencing the “trainee evening”. RESPECT!! To the trainees. And the innkeepers for their commitment to the future of gastronomy.

Disgraceful treatment of regular guests. We go here regularly to eat and play cards. Same this Friday. After 2 hours we were escorted out, even though we had proven to have reserved the evening. That has never been the case before. But the store doesn't need it. But neither will we and we will never come back. The loss is manageable, as both the kitchen and service have declined sharply recently. Still a shame.

Eine frühzeitige Reservierung ist absolut notwendig und unterstreicht meine Empfehlung für das Xaver's. Es ist ein ausgezeichnetes bayrisches Lokal in München.. Ab 30 Uhr kann man es bis zum Ende auskosten. Alle anderen Termine sind zeitlich beschränkt. Das ist zwar genug Zeit zum Essen undTrinken aber nicht zum ausgelasenen "Versacken". Das Bier kann man auch fässerweise bestellen und selbst anzapfen. Die Preise im Xaver's sind keine Schnäppchen aber der Qualität absolut angemessen.

Overall, recommended for those who are looking for very good quality Bavarian and Alpine cuisine and are willing to pay a premium for it.

The food was delicious, but quite expensive. I think €18 is a lot for a green salad with goat cheese. Unfortunately it was also very loud and cramped and the service staff seemed pretty annoyed. There are much nicer restaurants in Munich.

Traditional Munich Wirtshaus. Cozy but partly crowdy seating. Traditional dishes and a pretty good selection of drinks.

Unverschämter Umgang mit Stammgästen. Wir gehen hier regelmäßig zum Essen und Kartenspielen. So auch diesen Freitag. Nach 2 Stunden sind wir dann rauskomplimentiert worden, obwohl wir den Abend nachweislich reserviert haben. Das war bisher nie so. Aber der Laden hat es nicht nötig. Wir aber auch nicht, werden nie wieder kommen. Der Verlust ist überschaubar, denn sowohl Küche als auch Service haben in letzter Zeit stark nachgelassen. Trotzdem schade.

Yesterday we were thrown out after 2 hours because the waitress had incorrectly recorded our on-site reservation on our last visit. There was no excuse, the boss had shamelessly blamed us for the mistake. You'll never see us again! The four of us have been to Xavers's 6 times on Fridays for dinner and then Kartln until midnight. Card players are probably no longer welcome here.

Apart from the portions that are as big as a children's hippo meal, bad service, we waited 1 hour for the food and then another 30 minutes to pay. The waitress is so dozing brutal!!! Never again, Xavier!

Ausgezeichnetes Essen, alleine die Brotplatte war ausgezeichnet. Das Essen war durchwegs gut, frisch. Die Knödel ein Traum. Bier wie immer 1a bei Augustiner. Was nicht so super ist, ist der Hauswein .. der war naja .. aber sollte man eh auf Bier zurückgreifen.

We would love to come back, the food is very good and tasty. Organic quality ❣️Despite a lot of work, service is not hectic. That's pleasant. The orders all come very quickly. The ambience is elegant and rustic at the same time. The Mousse au Chocolate is highly recommended, oh actually everything at Xaver's. Next time I'll eat the veal slices with mushrooms, I already know the vegan version 🐈

I was eating with three friends and had made reservations for 7 p.m., but were pushed back to 7:15 p.m. by phone, even though half of the tables were unoccupied. Then we were told it was reserved for half past seven. Overall, the other service was a mix of intrusive and forgetful. The audience sees it as a rather classic wannabe Bavarian tavern with high prices, which is also noticeable in the service staff who serve in “Bavarian” garb. The finale was the roast pork, which was blandly seasoned and swam in a watery sauce. A tavern has to be able to handle this. Nobody gets tired of the Ochsenbackerl. In addition, you will be said goodbye after two hours. Munich trend, but it goes against the Bavarian cosiness. So don't come back.

Get a reservation! Food is incredible, and the atmosphere is cozy, yet rich. Highly recommend anything on their menu - we tried many dishes and none disappointed.

Tasty and expensive. The price would be okay for the quality. But I don't understand why people save so much on side dishes. 30 euro dish and a spoonful of mashed potatoes. It would be nice if you could get a little full. Unfortunately the service was very unfriendly and rude. When we wanted to pay, nothing came except “42 € please”. , no thanks, no asking if we want the bill, no goodbye. You leave the restaurant annoyed.

Very rustic and cozy inn with great cuisine and delicious beer. The dining room has poor acoustics, making it difficult to have a conversation across more than one person sitting next to you. The waiters are very focused on sales, which I generally think is a good thing. But if instead of being greeted with hello you have to leave at 8:30 p.m. because that's when the next reservation comes, it's a bit annoying. Furthermore, the waiters come to the table every five minutes and ask if you would like something more to drink. At least no one stays thirsty. At the latest when the waiter bursts in while you're toasting the entire group and congratulating the graduates on what you're eating, then you've overstepped the mark and there's a bit of a lack of tact. After we made it clear that this wasn't okay, it worked out. Otherwise the service was quick and good. I would go there again 👍

Had a fantastic dinner here. Food, service, atmosphere, all were great. After lots of heavier German fare, I felt like a salad and the winter salad didn’t disappoint had tons of goat cheese, veggies and seeds. Wine options are solid. If you want chicken or fish, fyi it’s only available fried. Would come again.
