The food and the atmosphere are really nice. This is truly the right place to experience German cuisine. If you try the mixed plate option on the menu, you will taste many things at the same time. I advise

Traditional but also touristic spot. The restaurant is huge and you need to find a place yourself. The garden is lively. The beer was really good, food was okish - nothing special, but large portion.

We had reserved a table for a birthday dinner for six people. The reservation went smoothly and we were able to enjoy the evening at our leisure without being under any time pressure. The table was not given away immediately after us. Each of us had something to drink, a main course and a dessert. We can highly recommend every dish. From the liver dumpling soup to bread with Obatzer, to schnitzel and Kaiserschmarrn - everything was extremely tasty. The service was excellent. The staff were always friendly and attentive, even when the house was full and the football game was going on. Our recommendation is clear 👌.

Great main building with an outdoor terrace - right on the shopping mile. There is also a beer garden in the courtyard. You can people watch and still talk to people at the table. The staff is friendly and accommodating, the menu is extensive. From little things to salads, Bavarian. Delicacies, there is also something great for children. There are daily specials for every day. Price-performance ratio is top. Definitely stop by - I can only recommend it.

Attention, the beer is not filled to the calibration mark

I like to be there when I'm in Munich. Good beer, good food and the price is completely acceptable.

Not a good knuckle (tough and wobbly), not a good suckling pig (tastes very bland and fatty) Beer is fine, of course, but the service, phew, there was a shift change during our visit and after that there was no one responsible for us. It's a shame, things were different a few years ago

The food was very basic, not worth the price, and some was even disappointing. The meatloaf was bad, the sausages and meatloaf are mediocre. The service was quick however, the food arrived a cold. Main positive was that the beer was very good.

The atmosphere and architecture were pretty, but not enough to make up for the food. It had no taste, and the presentation was subpar. The meat in the Munich salad, as well as in the meatloaf were something akin to SPAM, and although I do not expect the most from a semi-touristy beer hall in the centre, I did not expect the intense disappointment that confronted me on a plate: watery, badly-chopped onion, half a pickle and sliced supermarket ham. The goulash lacked flavour and yet was still the best thing we ordered, since it was palatable. The only saving grace was the beer, which I suppose is fair, but I would suggest that they stick to that, and that alone.

There are two halves to this place: the side with the tablecloths, and the side that has the same menu but costs less. You now know which side to visit. Pretty good food, and the freshest, coldest Augustiner beer I've found in Munich. Sometimes you might find a live traditional German band in the room in the back left, which can be fun. Do pay attention to the short beer pours here, though (and throughout the city). Once the foam settles, your beer should be up to the line. They generally are not, and sometimes they're not even close. Last night our waiter saw us discussing the short pours we received and brought more beer over to top us off.

It's actually always on our visit list when we're in Munich. Predominantly and happily use the beer hall. Either to enjoy delicious Augustiner beer. Every now and then we also go out to eat if we want to eat a hearty Bavarian meal. Price/performance is absolutely right here. The service is always great and always very nice.

Maybe it's one of the oldest restaurants, but what was the tenderloin in water? The horseradish inside smelled very bad, the sirloin steak and entrecôte could definitely be served in a nice sauce, why radish when there are so many wonderful seasonal vegetables? The waiters were overwhelmed, my 10-year-old daughter asked the waiter. He asked someone for water only and said that he had to wait for the relevant waiter who served the table for water and that he could only order it from him. However, he could have given him water until he explained this situation.

We need to post positive stuff & falsely say that this is a 5 star restaurant before our real honest reviews could be posted. I have been here many, many times over the past twenty years. This time was a nightmare. Poor food, the fare at Yormas is much better. What happened?

The place deserves 2 stars for the very normal food, but the waiter's attention was terrible. He was rude during the whole lunch, he became even more serious when he told me he wanted a tip and he didn't like what I proposed. He didn't want it and left without saying goodbye. Anyway, 1 bottle of water costs €7.50. Don't go to this place!

Typically Bavarian, typically Munich and typically “German” If that's what you're looking for, you'll find it here. That shouldn't be a bad review. The food tastes very tasty and the staff is friendly and competent. The ambience is very large and housed in a beautiful, architecturally impressive building.

Had dinner for two in the early evening. Plated meat and Saufetzenburger. Both very tasty, the portions are sufficient and the price is really cheap considering that you are eating right in the center. Service quick and friendly. But it wasn't particularly crowded inside where we sat. We were completely satisfied.

Rudest service and waiters in Germany. I took my out- of -town family here and was mortified by how terrible of a welcome it was for them. Waited 30+ minutes to pay. The extremely rude waiter then lectured me on paying with a card because the guy didn’t want to be bothered. And after being rude the entire time, asked about a tip. Go to any of the other spots (Hofbrau, Paulaner) and you will be treated way better.

Available for dinner. This is a valuable shop where you can enjoy white sausage even at night.

We went here twice during our holiday to Bavaria. The food was amazing! Oh and it's the best beer in the world!!!

Was sitting outside today with a foreign visitor. The waiter was arguing particularly loudly with the neighboring table. At first I didn't think anything of it. When he brought us the menu, he started loudly insulting my non-German-speaking guests for no reason. He didn't even give us the opportunity to take a look at the map. He became so loud and aggressive that it made me uncomfortable and I told my guests that we were going somewhere else. A disgrace for Bavarian hospitality!

As soon as we walked in, a waitress aggressively told us what we wanted. After that, the service (different service) was correct, but everything took quite a long time. The food, however, is absolutely out of the question for the price - the beef goulash was well seasoned, but extremely tough in parts - some of the meat I was with was still pink. I might try it again for a beer, but I probably won't eat out again.

Unfortunately I wasn't impressed with the food. The roast pork was very dry and the sauce was very thin. Our service was very friendly. However, the guest room is very comfortable and very large.

To the waiter with the tattoos on his arm and the beard. I would like to publicly complain that he has the audacity to demand a €24 tip from my grandfather for a sum of €106? 20% ? Absolutely bad service, the order was taken in a totally unfriendly manner, faceless and characterless, he asked us to hand out the beer mats so that he could put the drinks down. Do we work there or does he? Food was handed to us and all the menu cards were still on our tables when the food arrived. My grandfather is old but not senile and then has the audacity to come to our table again and suggest that the amount is high, why doesn't he get a tip? I gave you $5 to cover your dues! It's a shame that such a historic restaurant is looked after by such waiters.

Completely rude waiters!! They simply throw out people at the next table who complain because they don't bring you a card for twenty minutes. Zero criticism and shouting as if they were at home... maybe the owners should consider hiring more German waiters... they get rude and loud when you don't want to tip because of the poor service. The food sucks and is anything but fresh. Avoid this restaurant!!

Great atmosphere. You can sit on the terrace (although it is a pedestrian zone), inside or in the courtyard. That it was partly good and partly okay-ish. The service was there promptly, but had no problem coming back a few times since we were still dialing.

It is located in the center in the pedestrian area between Karlsplatz/Stachus and Marienplatz. Beautiful, organised, clean outdoor area. You can eat high-quality Bavarian cuisine.

The staff is so bad that you can't get the shoes. Waited 15 minutes for a waiter to come, then I ordered an appetizer. Do you get it with my main course, the soup was ok the main course was cold. Never again would I have to enter this stomach as bad as it was anywhere.

Cozy place with classic German brewery style.

First of all: The assessment of the food is always subjective. I'm sure there will be good reviews here from many guests, especially those who like hearty dishes like pork knuckle. The traditional menu, which still has old specialties such as sour Lüngerl with bread dumplings, veal hearts and more, is certainly to be praised. But the fact is that I went wrong with my beef goulash. I - actually a vegetarian - specially ordered a meat meal to try something that such a traditional Bavarian restaurant certainly does well. However, the meat was tough and the portion was rather small. In fact, the root vegetables were the best part of the dish. On the other hand, the service was very good, patiently fulfilling the guests' requests for cell phone photos against a classical backdrop, despite the high amount of work. So I come to the last point, the ambience. This is really worth seeing with its shell and stucco elements, the fountains, arcades and the interior with the dark ebony furniture. Since the whole thing is huge, you don't need to make a reservation - unless you're hoping for a table in the courtyard. Handicaps are not an obstacle to visiting this restaurant. Neither do children.

Great food, fabulous service and the restaurant has a great aesthetic. We ate in the back garden which was lovely, and had netting to protect you from birds.

On July 11th, 2024 I was there for the 2nd and last time. The food is quite ok for mass serving. The service staff who served outside that day were the last. I have never been served in such a snooty and condescending manner in a restaurant. No address, no adequate communication. When you ask for a free table, people look you in the face and then just look away and ignore you. Fabric tablecloth was soiled by the previous guest and not changed (actually not a problem for me as long as I don't dine in a star restaurant) but it fits with the overall picture. The waiter comes and lifts up some beer mats and drops the beer mats from about 1/2 meter. Well, I thought it could be a quirk or a cool move. Then no question whether you want to eat something or just drink something. You can also just raise your head briefly, which should mean something like “what do you want”. A measure and something to eat please. When serving the beer, the waiter stops 2 meters in front of the table, actually behind the table, and hands you the pint of beer with an outstretched arm, the whole thing from the back, so that you have to stretch and contort to receive it quite right when the waiter holds it by the handle. By then it was clear that the beer mat move was a set-up. The knuckle we ordered was ok, even if it could be better, but that's definitely a matter of taste. The food certainly deserved 3 stars, but given the subterranean treatment of the service staff I can only give it one. Maybe it's not possible to find better staff at the moment or it's because of the pay?!. If I were the manager, I would try to get rid of the Italian gang (one of the waiters tried hard and tried to be charming). Maybe you should switch to self-service if there is a shortage of staff. If you do it well, it would be better than being served as badly as it was that evening. For the first time in my life I didn't tip a cent. Otherwise everyone gets a tip from me for their service, even if it's the friendly kiosk operator. I never thought something like this existed, but I actually enjoyed not tipping here. For me it is clear, never again Augustinian. I would like to point out that I'm not someone who constantly gives reviews, especially bad ones. Actually, it should have been addressed directly, but I was worried it would escalate.

The best German restaurant in town I would say. We have tried many traditional dishes with affordable price. Nice place, beautiful decor and an atmosphere of Germany ! 🇩🇪 We had to find a table ourselves and wait for the waitress but it was worth 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Great courtyard! Service was attentive and quick despite the full house. Sanitary facilities modern and clean. And the beers are worth the trip anyway.

The service is a disaster, the waitress was very rude. We ordered beer and waited almost 20 minutes for it. We were a group of 8 people, in the end we all wanted to pay separately and the waiter asked us “are you serious now” and he himself calculated a tip of around €50. When the bill was €340, he coldly turned it into €390. All in all we won't be coming back. That was the worst visit to a restaurant ever.

Good food in a good atmosphere. The separate area means you can have the classic tavern feeling, but also eat in a more relaxed atmosphere. After ordering, the food came quickly and was good too. But no taste explosion. Prices are okay for the city center, but you can definitely eat better in other places for the same price. The atmosphere of the service was partly irritable due to the busyness. The request to pay by card was not received very friendly and was answered with the statement that in these cases you have to come with us because you don't have to run to the table again.

The atmosphere is quite quaint. And the best beer in Munich is served fresh from the barrel. However, in recent years/decades the cuisine has degenerated more and more into convenience food... Quite good but nowhere near the class that the Augustiner once had.

I enjoyed a beer with a different taste from Hofbräu. I arrived just as the store opened at 11am and had a quick beer and pretzel. I like it very much because it feels quiet and clean.

Food was good, but not as good as Hofenbrahaus and service for the check was a little slow. The schnitzel itself was the best I've had, but make sure to ask to get a side of gravy with it to make it truly spectacular.
