We had a great experience at Wirtshaus Zum Straubinger! The food was delicious. The atmosphere was cozy. We'd love to eat here again.

Everything was very good, quality ingredients, and excellent service. I loved this restaurant!! You could even play curling in the garden!!

Our reservation for 6 people (the restaurant was full) was not honored. The waiter (unfriendly) said: "You can wait half an hour or leave." We left and certainly won't be back. There are other restaurants.

An ancient and historic Bavarian brewery in Munich. Good traditional cuisine accompanied by excellent beer. A particularly welcoming place, with fast and helpful staff. A must-try if you're in Munich.

The roast pork with beer gravy and potato dumplings was delicious! The atmosphere was quite nice, very quiet compared to many other restaurants downtown. It's a shame the service was rather rushed and impatient.

On trip to Munich with my daughter for holidays. In planning made reservation through their website for 330pm for Christmas Eve. Arrived 15 minutes early for reservation. Was told that the kitchen was closed already, regardless of reservation. Will not be back. They will never get my business

Delicious food, good selection of dishes and drinks. But above all, we were very impressed with the service. Despite the restaurant being full, they were always available, very friendly and attentive. We'll gladly come back.

Not far from the Viktualienmarkt is this great inn with super friendly service, fantastic food, and a very cozy atmosphere. The adjoining beer garden is also a great place to sit when the weather is warmer. We had sauerbraten and Schluntzkrapfen (a type of filled pasta) with gingerbread cream for dessert before heading to the Allianz Arena and were extremely satisfied.

Online reservations work well even when booked many weeks in advance, good selection of dishes and daily specials, food very good and tasty, service usually very good, only this time there were problems with the ordering device of the otherwise good server, lovely Munich inn atmosphere with high-quality food. We'll be back in 2026.

Today, four of us went out to eat and we all ordered the Wiener Schnitzel for €31 each. The schnitzel was ridiculously small and in no way worth the price. There was simply no value for money. A complete disappointment.

The food was excellent, flavorful, authentic and served in very generous portions. The staff was exceptionally friendly and welcoming, and they made room for us even though we didn't have a reservation in this busy Christmas Market time. Miguel, the bartender, was entertaining and very helpful. The staff wore authentic clothing and made you feel welcomed. We received outstanding service throughout our visit. Highly recommend!

We often come here for lunch, and today was our first time eating dinner. The roast duck was incredibly tender, and the dumplings were perfect. The red cabbage was also delicious. The rest of the lunch menu is also very good, whether it's roast pork, schnitzel, or something else; we've always been satisfied. The prices aren't exactly cheap, but they're probably appropriate for the location.

The restaurant was recommended to us by my friend's boss, and we weren't disappointed! The food was incredibly delicious and fresh, with a great selection! The seating was comfortable, and at 11:30 a.m. on a Tuesday, there were only a few tables occupied (we had reserved online just to be safe). The prices are reasonable for Munich. We highly recommend the Schlutzkrapfen (filled pasta), the Sauerbraten (marinated pot roast), and the side salad, which was quite generous! We had tried going there on a Monday evening without a reservation, but it was completely full. So, especially for dinner, it's definitely best to make a reservation!

As a Munich resident, it's sometimes not so easy to go for a beer with friends without cashing in your savings first—just kidding! But it's still possible here, even though it's right next to the Schranne market. The food was very good (roast pork) and under €20. Service was quick and the place wasn't too loud, even though it was full. I'd gladly come again.

The pork knuckle was beautifully crispy and tasted fantastic, just a tiny bit dry. And for my taste, the gravy could have been a little thicker and more flavorful. The almond pancake is amazing, but definitely share it if you're having it for dessert. Huge portion! Nicely decorated and everything is quite new. Very friendly and fast service!

First-class service; the young man was really friendly and incredibly efficient. Almost faster than we could decide! :D The veal schnitzel was melt-in-your-mouth tender. Everything tasted absolutely fantastic! Highly recommended. We even got a table for two without a reservation.

A spontaneous visit on Saturday at lunchtime. I'd describe it as typically Bavarian with a modern twist. The atmosphere was very inviting, and the restaurant was quite full. Nevertheless, the staff immediately offered us two separate tables. The service was very efficient, from taking our order to being served! The menu was extensive, and the price-performance ratio was reasonable. We'd love to come back again.

Two stars because the waiter was nice. Ordered the entrecote medium rare. It came rare. Over half of it was pure fat. What meat was there was very fatty. I told the waiter, who told the chef, who told the waiter to tell me it is supposed to come with fat. I I know fat comes with steak. But the piece you get should not be over half of nothing but fat. There has to be some meat. And meat that doesn't consist of mostly fat. 32.50 euro for a slab of fat and a couple of potatoes and peppers.

Absolutely sublime meal! I had the Schnitzel Alpine Style. The roasted potties were perfect, the coleslaw (krautsalat?) was amazing with citrusy flavor, and the schnitzel was amazing.

First meal I had after stepping off the plane and I'm glad I came. My marinated pot roast and beef shoulder was incredibly tender and flavourful, with a generous portion of red onion, and the bread begged to be dipped in the gravy. Wonderful service too. Cosy environment.

Our first time at this restaurant on Wednesday evening was unfortunately a negative experience. I strongly advise against it, especially to those with food allergies. Upon arrival (on time), we were greeted by a very stressed waiter who rudely asked us to wait because our (reserved) table wasn't ready. Once seated, since I have celiac disease, I asked if I could have the gluten-free cutlet (without breading), because I had read that in other reviews. The answer was NO. I asked if I could have the goat cheese salad, the answer was NO. I asked what gluten-free options were available, and was given a menu that listed ALL the dishes as "containing gluten" except... the goat cheese salad! I politely approached the waiter to clarify, but was literally told, "You need to calm down, you're too emotional." I finally ordered the salad, but it was drowned in its own dressing and I couldn't finish it. My colleagues ordered dumplings for €25 and received a slice of bread on a mushroom soup... To sum up: appalling and incredibly rude service. And the prices are also way too high for the quality. A real shame.

Three of us went out to eat today, and we really enjoyed it. For starters, we had the potato soup, which was solid, but could have been better. I had the Straubi schnitzel with potato salad. The meat was very tasty and the quality was very good. It was well-cooked and a joy to eat. The potato salad was prepared as usual, as you'd get anywhere. The coleslaw, which we ordered separately, was also just average. The knuckle of pork was very good, both in terms of taste and preparation. The dumplings and the sauce were also delicious. Then we had the roast pork. This was also tender and really tasty, as was the sauce. The bomixche dumpling, however, wasn't quite as tasty, as it had been cut open and fried on all sides, which made it less fluffy and more solid. The service was friendly and always attentive. The ambiance is unfortunately quite new and modern. Many people probably like that kind of thing, but I missed the typical Bavarian feel. I like it rustic and you can really feel the tradition. Conclusion: The food and service were good. They could still work on some fine-tuning. The ambiance wasn't really my thing, and there are many breweries that offer more tradition.

We were there for dinner on Saturday, October 18, 2025, with a group of 10 people. The location was very central. The restaurant was comfortably furnished. The food was excellent. We were served by Isabella. She was super friendly and very nice. I can recommend this restaurant to everyone. It was a really fun evening for us. We'd definitely go back next time we're in Munich.

The food was delicious and the atmosphere very pleasant. Unfortunately, the waitress complained about the lack of tips, with comments like "Is that still the case?" and "Are you serious?", which I found very inappropriate.

The food was truly delicious, nothing to complain about. The ambiance was okay, but nothing special. Unfortunately, the service reacted very unprofessionally when we apparently didn't tip enough, which significantly tarnished the otherwise good impression. It's a shame, because the food actually deserved more stars.

Very flavorful cuisine; the menu isn't too extensive, but not too limited. Portions are good for the price, even if they're a bit skimpy on the meat and fish options. There's enough choice for vegetarians. The restaurant offers a lovely ambiance, but can get quite noisy when it's full. The service is unpretentious and very friendly, very pleasant. Kudos to our favorite brunette waitress. She takes excellent care of all her guests. I'd be happy to come back ;)

Very tasty food, exceptionally friendly, competent service, "a little off the beaten track" off the usual tourism, worthwhile!

We called at short notice to ask for a table, had a pleasant conversation, and were confirmed that we would get a table. We ran through the rain, arrived, pointed out the phone call, and the server acted "clueless" and said that only he answers the phone and couldn't remember. We were then offered the opportunity to sit outside under an awning. We quickly tested the spot, waited 15 minutes without anyone speaking to us, and then left. The wind and rain also contributed to this, as we weren't really protected. Perhaps this is an isolated experience, but in terms of friendliness, understanding, and service, this was a 6. If I don't have any room for walk-in guests, that's perfectly fine, but please not like this.

We went in after lunch hour so it wasnt crowded nor busy. Took us a while to get the foods served, but worth the waiting. Food tastes good and live up to good comments. We had pork knuckle and the veal snitzel. The cranberry sauce really brings the snitzel to next level. Pork knuckle could be more crispy i think but it doesnt affect the overall experience. The staple potato dumpling is not to my liking (no offense!) it just taste bland and has weird texture.

We had a super delicious, spontaneous lunch. All the dishes were delicious, and the service was very attentive and courteous from Miquel (I think that's what the nameplate says)! If we're ever in Munich again, we'll definitely stop by again.

A top spot for good, home-style food. They still cook their own food here, and you can taste it. The Sauerbraten with Bohemian dumplings was excellent. The Kaiserschmarrn was also excellent. Service was friendly and attentive. Prices are reasonable for Munich. Highly recommended.

We ate here this evening with guests from abroad because the reviews were good, but unfortunately we were very disappointed. The service was impatient and stressed, even though the restaurant was only half full. We ordered two sets of knuckles, entrecote, and Wiener schnitzel. The quality and presentation were unfortunately in line with your average student bar. The Wiener schnitzel was greasy and the breading was soft and soggy, served with small baked potato halves when it should have been potato salad – a complete disaster. The stringy entrecote was also served with these potato halves, along with four small overcooked pieces of green-grayish artichoke – a strange combination. Were leftovers used? The knuckles and dumplings were also of average quality. The service then told us that today was the new chef's first day, which explained a lot. Unfortunately, we discovered that the quality had declined massively with the change of chef, and for this reason I can no longer recommend the restaurant. The landlord should urgently improve this and carefully control what goes over the pass.

We ended up coming here twice within a single week – simply because the whole experience hit the mark. The service is super friendly and impressively quick. The atmosphere is classically Bavarian, exactly what you’d hope for when dining in the heart of the city. The food? Solid. Generous portions, authentic flavors, and genuinely good beer. On our second visit, we had the veal cream goulash and the Bavarian burrata with tomato gnocchi – both absolutely delicious. The first time, we tried the Käsespätzle (soft egg noodles with melted cheese and fried onions), which were a full-on comfort food win. We also shared the tasting platter with smoked salmon, roast beef, Bavarian cold cuts, vegetables, and spreads served with hearty sourdough bread. Definitely recommended.

It's a shame that the restaurant, especially the bar, has been ruined since the fire. Serving veal patties in a bowl with potato salad and arugula stalks was also very inappropriate. The staff had a hard time speaking Bavarian. Unfortunately, that was the last time!!!!

The Straubinger invites you to linger. Beautifully located with a small beer garden, a lovely, modern restaurant, short wait times, and delicious food. Plus, a good beer – a dream. A Straubinger, after all :)

The service was very good. Everything was always delivered quickly. The food wasn't bad either, and now comes the big but: The portions were very small, so the price-performance ratio wasn't right.

Seven of us were able to spontaneously get a table just before 9 on a Saturday evening, and the service was super friendly and authentic. We had schnitzel and almond Kaiserschmarrn, and we all enjoyed it immensely! We definitely recommend it and would come again if we're back in Munich :)
