The stopover in Munich was really worth it, the knuckle was the best I've ever eaten and it was on the table within 5 minutes of ordering. I don't know how this is possible, I suspect it's witchcraft

Everything was wonderful, very good food with quick service. At times the noise level was very high, but this was mainly due to a larger group of men. We will definitely test this again.

Great, rustic Bavarian inn with delicious food and friendly staff. There were five of us, we each had a different meal and we all enjoyed it very much. The Straubinger is definitely recommended with 5 stars! And we came back, everything was great as always!

Fortunately, I cannot agree with the negative reviews regarding the service. We had a very attentive and friendly employee. The food came very quickly and tasted really good. Portion was large and the schnitzel was probably the most tender thing I've ever eaten. I would definitely come here again on my next visit to Munich.

Very nice traditional Bavarian restaurant with top service, a bit noisy at full capacity, but that speaks for a good atmosphere. The Kaiserschmarrn without raisins, but caramelized, is a sensation.

Typical Bavarian welcoming place, not chaotic.

The most delicious dishes of the Bavarian tradition prepared with down-to-earth ingredients and served in a cozy tavern atmosphere: they also have a good selection of seasonal and vegetarian delicacies (like chanterelles). I recommend the farm duck with red cabbage, the Straubi schnitzel with a pretzel crumb crust, the roast pork and the excellent desserts.

Rustic cuisine, food is ok, offer is absolutely sufficient, “Almondschmarrn” is well done and a “dessert must”! The service was great, to the point, very friendly and not at a loss for a quick comment, an all around lovely evening!

Had a nice evening, but the portions were really quite small. Among other things, we had the winter salad for €18, but it didn't even come close to filling us up. We then asked for bread, which of course we only received for an extra cost. The taste of the food was okay, but it didn't blow us away.

We were in a larger group in the inn. Our waitress came up to us and introduced herself to us, which was nice so far and we immediately had someone to relate to for the evening. The first drinks came quickly and I can't say anything bad about the food either, on the contrary, everything tasted great and I would definitely come back for that. When one of us just wanted to draw her attention to the fact that we hadn't ordered everything yet, she loudly told him not to say "hello" to her... (it was just a quick reaction because her back was already closed stood by us and was about to leave) I myself had ordered a wine that, even though everyone else had already gotten their second round, didn't come after a long wait. That can happen and I wouldn't have looked at it as a negative thing if I hadn't been approached with “yeah, yeah, that's fine” when I politely pointed it out to her. Others also stopped receiving drinks at the end and were ignored even after repeated orders. However, when it came to payment, the best side was taken in order to squeeze out the tip... ... small suggestion for improvement: we sat together for 5 hours and not only sipped on a beer but were willing to order more regularly. If you want a clever tip, you should spend the whole evening trying. 😉 Finally, I still give 4 stars because the food was really great and maybe we were just unlucky with the service and therefore the average of the reviews shouldn't suffer. I will come back in the hope of encountering friendlier service and then perhaps being able to give out the 5th star.

We got our food at different times and the service was unfortunately very unfriendly. The red cabbage was lukewarm. We got the wrong drinks and some drinks were forgotten when asked. A large amount of salt was spilled next to us and not cleaned up. This caused the guests to almost slip. The poor service made us feel uncomfortable and we couldn't enjoy our stay. (November 2024) It's a shame because we were really looking forward to a pub of this type.

This is some of the best cuisine in all of Munich. Our waitress, the nice Isabella, puts her heart and soul into it and you immediately feel welcome and in good hands. The head chef, the kind-hearted Peter, is an absolute master of his craft and creates incredibly tasty and culinary perfectly prepared dishes that are second to none. We have been here several times and will definitely return here again and again. Many thanks and warm greetings to the entire team

We went to this restaurant on New Year's Eve, with an à la carte menu. Good quality and plentiful dishes., the shank was enormous. Friendly and helpful waiters, one of them even spoke Italian. Good value for money

Unfortunately, a typical tourist shop in the city now gives a Russian a “lemon wheat beer”. Great 🤣🙈 When it comes to eating, light and shade: both schnitzels on the menu are well done, but the roasts are not convincing. The sauerbraten, for example, was not marinated properly and was far too fatty. The complaint was noted, but without consequences (quote from the waiter “...then the kitchen can learn something”). Service was not well organized and our waiter was unfortunately quite inattentive. It's a shame the Straubingerhof was already an institution.

Mass…. Bavarian food not good for the price and far too small. Kaiserschmarren looks very good visually but the taste lacks sweetness and it is not homemade

I only had a few beers here and unfortunately can't say anything about the kitchen. The service and hospitality as well as the friendliness of the staff are excellent and the ambience is also fine if you like large restaurants. As in everything... recommended!

We love german food now 😅 Enjoyed the roast beef and polenta. Onions were sweet and the sauce suitable for the dish I have been eyeing a pork schnitzel since arriving in Munich and glad i had the one here. The bacon-pretzel crust was tasty. Overall good dish We had the zitronen radler / beer with lemonade. Lighter than our local shandy in Malaysia but still a very good drink. Gingerbread casserole was superb. Burst of flavours from this combination is so good. Cinnamon ice cream and the pear quince compote is jusy heavenly. Heart warming dessert . Excellent dining experience. Service was good and efficient.

Clear recommendation in the center of Munich. Food was a little weakly seasoned (but you can solve that yourself) and the portion of cheese spaetzle was a bit small for a man's portion. BUT: overall great atmosphere, good quality and above all great service. Here the guest is taken into account and taken care of. Not a tourist trap.

We had a really great stay at the Wirtshaus Straubinger. The waiter Martin did a great job. We really enjoyed the food. P.S. In the future, please simply serve tap water to the guest (if they wish) and not spend a long time behind the counter discussing whether this is possible or not.

The schnitzel meat looks thick, but it's only about 2-3 mm thick and for us it's not really that much. In the pictures we saw, the portions were significantly larger. The breading came off immediately and the 0.5 liter beer was only filled to 2cm below the calibration mark. I'm very disappointed. The obazda wasn't really tasty and the amount of bread is ridiculous.

A regular haunt of ours when we visit Munich. First time however to the recently refurbished restaurant. I am pleased to report that it was as good as ever.

Recently renovated, it is a classic Bavarian restaurant which has unfortunately lost some of its old charm. The cuisine is more attentive and diversified than the classics with ample vegetarian and vegan choices. A good restaurant in the center of Munich.

I ordered roast pork and got gray duck breast, probably from yesterday. I wanted to take a photo and the waiter quickly took it. What was the 2nd ordered I still don't know! As a tourist I don't think it's recommended. You get what they didn't sell a day ago.

Receptionist sucked, refused to sit us down at the bar even tho it was empty. Just because we did not speak german.

Unfortunately I can't say anything about the restaurant inside, we had booked a curling rink outside for 2 hours. That was a lot of fun - a waiter kept coming and providing us with mulled wine, beer, etc. The service was very nice and the train was also flawless. Definitely recommended.

Due to a language barrier, she convinced us to order two salads we didn’t originally want. Only one of them was brought to the table, but at least after a heated discussion, we were only charged for the one we ate. Her attitude, however, was unacceptable. Instead of apologizing for the misunderstanding, she scolded us, saying that if something is missing from our order, we need to notify them earlier. She also brought us the wrong beer without fixing it. It’s such a shame that such a nice restaurant with great food is let down by poor service. This experience left a sour taste, and we wouldn’t recommend it based on this interaction.

The food was okay, but the service was VERY disappointing. Our experience with Isabella, the waitress, left us feeling unwelcome. Her attitude came across as unprofessional and discourteous. Every time she brought dishes to nearby tables, she would slam other dishes onto our table with unnecessary force, creating loud noises and even causing the table to shake. It felt intentional and hostile, leaving us baffled as to what we might have done to warrant such behaviour.

We chose the restaurant because we saw on TV that Tim Mälzer cooked there on Kitchen Impossible. The card really appealed to us too. That's why we were there last night. The place looks great and made a good impression. We had the Straubing Schnitzel (fried onion and bacon crust). It was really paper thin and dry. Although schnitzel with breading is often too greasy... No, it was just dry. The potato salad with it was delicious. The second dish was the burrata. The dish was ok. And what didn't make it any better was the service staff. Totally strange and the lady was totally bold. (to everyone, not just our table). There were mushy monosyllabic answers or unfriendly answers. And yes, you can actually sometimes overlook the service, but with the combination of poor food and value for money, we won't have a second time. It's a total shame because the other reviews were actually rather promising.

The Wirtshaus Zum Straubinger really has potential, but the service leaves a lot to be desired. The food was excellent – ​​fresh, flavorful and typically Bavarian, which was really fun. Unfortunately the experience was very marred by the service. You had to make a real effort to even be served, and you often stayed at the table for a long time unnoticed. Even simple orders or inquiries were reluctantly accepted and it seemed as if the employees were simply overwhelmed or inattentive. It's a shame, because the kitchen is really good! But without better service I won't come back.

Great food great atmosphere - bad service

We were here with a group of 9 people. Everything was prepared in a very nicely equipped Bavarian restaurant. We also felt very comfortable with the service here. The Bavarian platter for two people was very tasty portions and a good decision, everything was well grilled and very tasty including the sauce and the dumplings. A real insider tip for those who like Bavarian cuisine in an upscale atmosphere. What I really liked was that the grandpa helped the group get the drinks and food together. A nice restaurant in itself. Unfortunately my schnitzel was cold and burnt on one side. The toilets were very dirty and the waitress's comment that she was happy to have an employee toilet says it all. I would rather not go there again.

Sooooo I ate Kaiserschmarrn there 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 and it was my first Kaiserschmarrn 😊 I've never eaten anything like that in my entire life and I'm 38 years old. It was MEGAAAAAAA MEGAAAAAAA delicious with almond sticks on it and homemade applesauce with apple pieces inside 😋😋😋. Super nice - super service - very very clean 👍 and cheap 15.40€ so if you're on holiday there you definitely have to go 😋😋 great service 👍👍👍👍👍 unfortunately I can only give 5 stone 😁

One thing in advance. The "Straubi" is still one of my favorite inns when I'm in Munich. BUT: The ambience and coziness suffered greatly due to the fire-related renovation. The "hard as nails" benches with the 90 degree backrest were quite uncomfortable. The map is quite "manageable" - not to say a bit unimaginative and doesn't offer much of interest. The presentation of the food is also not particularly attractive. However, the service was very friendly and accommodating - thank you for that!
