Very yummy Kaiserschmarrn! but it is a huge portion….not on the menu, but you can order half a portion :) The atmosphere is very traditional and cozy, tucked away in a residential area, but close to the metro station U Alte Heide and the beautiful cemetery Nordfriedhof 👌

A cozy inn with delicious, good food at fair prices. When I asked about additives, they responded immediately and confirmed that everything was cooked without them. I enjoyed the food very much and will definitely return on my next visit to Munich.

A very unpleasant hostess who curtly sent us away as soon as we sat down, saying that everything was reserved, and certainly not for 6 people. That's all fine, but the tone is the main issue. We felt completely ripped off. She could have asked politely how many people were there, how long we wanted to stay, etc. Because the communication was so unfriendly, we won't be going there again.

Without a reservation, you won't be welcome. It's an average restaurant with mediocre food. The prices are accordingly reasonable—not expensive for Munich, but there are better options in the city in terms of value for money.

Super friendly service, and the food was perfect. Tables must be reserved in advance, but it's no wonder the food is so delicious!

An annoyed, apparently overwhelmed, waitress sent us and our toddler away, even though at least two tables in the beer garden were completely free. What a pity.

The place looked and sounded lovely based on the menu, but the lady host of the restaurant, presumably the owner, denied us entry in the pouring rain, lying that they were fully booked (the entire place was empty, except for 2 people there). Probably because I'm American and my partner is Mexican. I'd avoid this place if you're not a white German. Went around the corner instead and had some delicious döner kebabs. No racists there!

We were in Munich (Schwabing) for a few days and ate here two days in a row. The food was excellent. The portions were more than sufficient. It's highly recommended to make a reservation in advance by phone. We'll definitely come back when we're in the area. There are some negative reviews regarding the service. We don't understand these at all. We were very satisfied and can recommend the restaurant without reservation.

The food smelled good but the waitress who is probably the owner of the business did not want to welcome us even though we told her to wait until a table was free. The answer was a categorical No. If she wanted to welcome us she could have offered us a table inside where it was empty. The way she behaved I could say it is racist behavior

We went there spontaneously; the menu was small but there was something for everyone. We sat in the beer garden under a tree. It started to rain, but we didn't get wet; it was a pleasant evening.

A small traditional Bavarian restaurant. Very nice traditional dishes for a pleasant price. In the summer you can sit outside in their lovely Biergarten. The restaurant inside is not too big. So if you are not able to sit outside I would give them a call if they have a spot for you. If you are alone you might get seated, but expect to be seated with other people Bavarian style. Eat and meet people! Recommended!

A little insider tip in a residential area in the north of Munich. Were here for dinner. Luckily we had reserved (recommendation). Rustic decor, friendly, fast service and super delicious food. Everyone can find something to eat here. If you want a very good dessert, you should treat yourself to the Kaiserschmarrn. The three of us ate it and were more than full. Price-performance absolutely appropriate. Clear recommendation.

We have been coming to the Alte Heide regularly for our trade fair stays in Munich for over 10 years and feel really comfortable every time. The service is quick and funny, all the dishes are super tasty and reasonably priced. Special requests outside of the menu are happy to be fulfilled. It's always a highlight for us to enjoy the Kaiserschmarrn from a pan with everyone as dessert, simply the best of its kind! The Alte Heide team around Irina and Sepp have become part of our family and coming to the Alte Heide is like coming home. So if you like traditional coziness and Bavarian cuisine, you should reserve a table. 😉

The four of us recently rode into this wonderful inn. Without any idea, reservation and adequate language skills. But the service and food alone were worth the trip. A reservation is recommended, it was very well attended, and after a short wait and a phone call we got a seat that you don't actually get. Thank you very much, so 4 men didn't have to go back to the hotel hungry. The food was great, you can't say delicious (I learned), the beer was good and the staff and kitchen team know their job. I had meat patties with fried potatoes and red cabbage - my God, no lie, not even grandma's kitchen prepared it that well. The parts melted in my mouth. The portions were just right and the wonderful Kaiserschmarrn with applesauce also just fit in at the back. Overall, you can still get real food here at a surprisingly affordable price. Clear recommendation.

It is a small, clean and quaint Bavarian economy. The beer garden is certainly very beautiful in summer. Really thrilled with the food, Cordon Bleu was super tasty and especially freshly prepared in the pan with great spaetzle pan-fried until golden brown and a super tasty 😋 Champion cream sauce. My wife ate a very tasty 😋 beef steak with mixed salad, which was also really very tasty. Price performance is absolutely super good 👍. Drinks selection is also good 👍. Impossible! You come in and are not greeted. An impossible, unfriendly woman who treats you like air. The whole restaurant smells like rancid grease. The kitchen door is open and everything in there is dirty.

Went in at 2030 on a Friday, was told kitchen is closed. Simple to just update their website and Google hours instead of wasting customers time.

Good food, nice quiet corner in Munich. Nevertheless, we didn't feel particularly comfortable in the location. My colleague wanted a bill for our food. The waitress was called three times and asked to issue the bill. The answer was “It can wait!” while chatting with the guests. After 15 minutes of waiting, my colleague also ran out of patience. Despite the good food, I wouldn't visit this place again.

The Alte Heide was a chance discovery on Google during a hotel stay nearby, which is a great, home-style restaurant. There you get real hospitality, very tasty home-made food at wonderful prices. We had different dishes and loved them all. The crowning glory: the Kaiserschmarrn as dessert, which we shared, incredibly delicious. It's a good thing that restaurants like this still exist.

Real, rustic Bavarian inn in the best sense of the word! Rustic guest room, which, however, smells quite strongly of the kitchen. However, that is the only point of criticism. The food is real good home cooking! You can hear Josef, cook and boss, knocking out the schnitzels 👍 We ordered schnitzels with warm potato salad for €14.90 and meat patties with red cabbage and fried potatoes for €11.80, everything tasted very, very good! The price level is cheap. Nice service, located somewhat remote in a residential area in Schwabing. Hopefully not so many people will come after my review 😅

Quaint Bavarian restaurant. Food was served according to the daily menu. But there was something for everyone. Spaetzle were homemade and very tasty 😋! Very friendly owners! Our dog was also welcome! It's a bit hidden, but quiet! Can only be recommended!

We were completely shocked by the service at this restaurant today. Today is my father-in-law's 90th birthday, who died six months ago. My husband and I decided to go to the restaurant to celebrate and remember him. We chose Restaurant Alte Heide because it was the first restaurant we went to after moving to Munich and we liked the food and service. However, when we went to the restaurant today, a man with black hair served us so coldly and unfriendly that we even felt insulted. After waiting at the door for almost 10 minutes, he and another woman pretended they didn't see us. Then he acted like a police officer and told us we couldn't stand there. They didn't have a table for us and we had to leave. He behaves as if we are not customers but beggars. After leaving this restaurant my husband and I decided we would never go there again. We are so sad that Dad left us and so angry about our experience at this restaurant.

If you politely ask for a table for two in the middle of the week around 7 p.m. and you see that around 25% of the tables outside are occupied and not a single table inside is occupied, then you are surprised if you are rude and curt with a " No" is sent from the farm. There will be no second attempt.

On a Tuesday evening there was “no” space left for two people because everything was reserved. In the beer garden there were folded tables and chairs leaning against the side and there would have been enough space with them. You are unkindly informed that everything is full, maybe something would be available in an hour. When you ask if there is another restaurant nearby, you are smiled at and told that no, we are the only one. Hospitality zero!!!

For the prices quoted it was tip top. Worth a recommendation!

Inside I had the feeling of being in a cider bar in Frankfurt am Main again, but in Bavarian. Old real instruments hanging on the wall, hand painted vaults. The service is German but warm. :) Positively meant. Nice kitchen. The pink beef heart with fried potatoes. Buttery tender. The Riesling from winemaker Hauck on the Palatinate was surprisingly delicious, just as good in taste as a Rheingauer. Not bad for a QbA. And for the beer drinkers, the types of beer that are offered there come from Munich, of course. And extremely inexpensive without having to spend 50+ euros every day for a couple on vacation in Munich. ................................................ We're going there again. But please, before the trip starts, don't forget to make a reservation. Because it may be that there is no more space. They value the quality of the food rather than the number of guests. BRAVO! :)

Non-touristy place, if you want to eat German dishes I would say it is the right place, suitable for families, not very large. Good typical Bavarian food, good beer, the only flaw for us Italians, they don't have bottles of water, if you want it they bring you glasses of tap water, ice cold, because very cold water comes out of the pipes, but they charge for it as if it were in a bottle .

We came to this restaurant in the hope of getting a walk in table. Upon testing our poor German language skills and asking for a table for 2, we were met with a rude and abrupt answer shouted at us across the empty inside restaurant. It may well be that there was no capacity outside. I may well be that the inside was closed (despite a single person eating in the otherwise empty restaurant). Whatever the case, the way we were spoken to was disgustingly rude. The ratings were good, which is why we wanted to try it. Based on our limited experience of the service / staff, I would recommend anyone to avoid the restaurant.

Ate so deliciously 🍽️ everything was right We made reservations for tomorrow without hesitation. There is cooking, real craftsmanship ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Super delicious food! Everything is homemade and you can clearly taste it! If you're looking for delicious authentic Bavarian food, then you've definitely come to the right place :) (also very friendly on your wallet) Service is good and friendly. The only tiny suggestion would be to have some background music playing so that you feel a little more comfortable in your conversations. We would definitely come again!

The food is delicious and the prices are fair. There is also a beer garden in summer. The menu is small and changing, there are maybe 10-15 dishes. However, the service was quite unfriendly and rude even though we met her in a friendly manner. The smell in the restaurant itself sometimes takes some getting used to.

We had dinner here with friends. I chose the sirloin steak, which smelled bad when it was served. When I cut it I noticed that it was green in some places. The waiter then took it back. Unfortunately there was no apology from him for this failed meal and only asked if I wanted a new one. Of course I didn't want a new one, who knows how bad you'll feel afterwards... at least an espresso or something like that would have been appropriate as compensation. My colleagues' food was okay.

What can you say: a totally positive surprise - in all categories! Super child-friendly, the food is very tasty (especially the potato salad is to die for) and the atmosphere is very authentic - just don't order Pils... the service doesn't even want to hear that 😉 A must stop next time in Munich to try more dishes!
