Perfect place with very good food

My friend had his 30th birthday on Tuesday and thanks to Mimi and her great and courteous service we had a really nice and delicious evening! I also worked in service for a long time, which is why I have to give special praise to Mimi. We would definitely come again! <3

Make sure you come hungry! The portions are big and it’s not fast food but it’s worth the wait!

Probably one of the best burgers I've eaten in recent years, if not ever. I can only recommend it to anyone who wants to eat a really good burger. The side dishes are also of a completely different quality than the ones you get at the big chains or in any run-of-the-mill store. The only negative point for me: I have to drive an hour from Aachen to Düsseldorf 😂 I hope that other cities (other than Berlin or Munich) will also be attractive for your Friendchise.

Everything was incredibly delicious

Lovely hamburgerrestaurant in Düsseldorf, old school butcher style decor with red bricks. Luckily for us, we found seating, because everybody seemed planning to eat there or take away the delicious fresh burgers. Even the vegetarian in our company enjoyed her veggie burger and described it as 'very tastefull'. If you're very hungry, I recommend The Killer, 3 fresh meat patties with 3 slices of cheese and all the other good stuff that makes part of a great burger. The bun is freshly roasted and if you want, you can have fries (regular, sweet potato or crunchy curly wafers) on the side. Or you can take an upgrade on premium fries, with amongst others guacamole and other good stuff. Anyway, if you're hungry and want to have a splendid, fresh burgermeal in an original surrounding, please pay this place a visit. You won't regret it for a minute.

Very nice employee and good service

Five of us were at What’s Beef in Düsseldorf this evening (around 9:30 p.m.) — unfortunately the experience was extremely disappointing. The young woman at the checkout was incredibly rude, had a completely disrespectful attitude and made it clear from the start that she had no desire to serve us. No smile, no “hello”, instead an extremely aggressive demeanor. She even refused to sell us a kids menu even though we had a child with us (waiting in the car). Such behavior is absolutely inappropriate in the catering industry. We didn't feel welcome and ended up leaving without ordering. It's a shame — we were actually fans of What's Beef, but after this experience we definitely won't be coming back.

We visited What’s Beef in Düsseldorf as a couple. The interior design is truly impressive – it feels like stepping into an American movie. However, the prices are very high, and for that, we would expect a minimum level of excellent service. Unfortunately, the attitude seemed more like “I don’t feel like working” instead. There were also many families with children, who must spend quite a lot of money here. The beef quality was balanced and decent. Whether we would return is something we would need to think about.

The burgers were super tasty and well seasoned! The Parmesan fries are also highly recommended 😍 We'd love to come back!

The food was really incredibly tasty. The smashburgers were the perfect size and that first bite was different. The shakes for dessert were also great. An experience you have to have. However, the shakes took a relatively long time. They were also very large, which is why I would recommend sharing them.

Unfortunately my fries were totally soggy. Forgot mayonnaise. The burger was partially overcooked. For €20 I expect more. Otherwise, service and ambience were good.

The service was great – super friendly, attentive and fast. The staff is really nice and creates a relaxed atmosphere. The burgers? Simply incredibly delicious! Juicy, fresh and perfectly seasoned. If you like really good burgers, you should definitely stop by here. In addition, the atmosphere is in the 90's hip hop style, very, very nice.

We ate there today after we became aware of the business through a YouTube video. We once took the Selims ABC burger and the Smash Supreme. Plus sweet potato fries, coleslaw and homemade lemonade. We order at the counter and pay directly, which I particularly like because you don't have to rely on a condition at the table. There is plenty of seating and even two very comfortable armchairs with a table right in the window area. You can also take your own mayo/ketchup, jalapenos, pickles. There are napkins and refreshing towels at every table. Preparation is quick and you can pick up the food hot from the counter. For this you got a number on the receipt. The Selims ABC was very tasty and the sauce and ingredients went together wonderfully. The Smash Supreme was also tasty, but not really a Smash Burger. The typical crisp edge was missing. The sweet potato fries were delicious and the coleslaw was fresh and flavorful. I can definitely recommend the homemade lemonade.

Service is a foreign word for this community store. We wanted to eat with the graduating class and asked several times that they couldn't provide us with more than 8 seats despite the fact that the shop was empty. Above all, this is an overpriced snack bar. Anyone who waits for service will do so in vain. You have to line up like at McDonald's and order your citizen. There were over 20 of us so the fun lasted over half an hour and be careful, the card reader doesn't always work. And for that price people you can eat at a real full service restaurant. I have no recommendation for the store.

Fried chicken burger was tasty but a bit overpriced at €15. The chicken was also a bit dry. Ambiance and service were good and quick.

Super nice service and really tasty burgers! We would particularly like to highlight Mimi – she was incredibly helpful and attentive. We were there with someone with celiac disease and she personally made sure everything was prepared safely and without contamination. Upon request, the burger was served on a bed of lettuce, and even a gluten-free bun that we had brought with us was used with extra care. It is rare to experience so much commitment and a friendly and understanding approach to celiac disease! Absolutely recommended – we would love to come back.

Dry meat, dry fries, unsympathetic service, milkshake too late and pure diabetes, forbidden to order children's menu if you want to eat less. Rather disappointing...

The restaurant has delicious food and a very pleasant atmosphere, perfect for enjoying with good company. However, the experience was marred by the cashier, who provided terrible customer service with rude manners and a arrogant attitude. I Hope Lili you change your attitude because a store with this caliber shouldnt keep people like you. I will never return.

Went here for dinner with the whole family today. Two of our children have celiac disease, which means they are not allowed to eat gluten. Apart from the very tasty burgers, we were particularly impressed by one employee, Mimi. She took such great care of us and our two celiac children. We have rarely experienced such exemplary service in a restaurant. Thanks Mimi ;).

25 EUR for burgers, fries and Coke is simply absurdly expensive. The burger is okay, not a highlight. It doesn't surprise me that the store was empty on what was actually a nice evening. Price-performance ratio is simply not right.

What’s Beef is a restaurant I always visit whenever I’m in Düsseldorf. Their BBQ Burger is perfectly balanced in terms of sauce, and the patty is cooked just right—juicy and generously portioned. 🍔 The atmosphere and concept are top-notch, and they occasionally offer student discounts or special promotions. The milkshake portions could be slightly bigger, though. The fries and sauces were great, and I liked that you could take as much as you wanted. However, when I asked for BBQ sauce, they didn’t have any—only mayo, ketchup, and mustard were available. 🍟🥤

I was amazed about the number of reviews and we had to try it. Unfortunately 2 star is our highest score. Meat in the burger is average taste, very poorly done (overfried/black on the edges). Ice tea is nice. Service is fair, even though I’ve seen a lot of wrong orders on the tables around us, so there is a place for upgrade. All in all, way overpriced and will not come back. 👎🏻

We had a very unpleasant experience at What’s Beef. A member of staff aggressively confronted us for using the toilet before ordering something - even though we explained it was urgent. His unfriendly and confrontational behavior made us feel uncomfortable and unwanted. We finally decided not to eat there. What was shocking was that he even followed us outside. We will be filing a formal complaint and unfortunately cannot recommend What’s Beef based on this experience.

10 years of coming and still in love!

We were there on a Tuesday lunchtime. Nothing going on, the food came quickly. Unfortunately, we had to wait quite a long time for the shake, despite there being hardly any guests. But everything tastes really delicious, and the price is absolutely reasonable. We can recommend it. (:

Standard burger chain. The burgers were okay, the guys behind the counter were relatively quick (but it's all self-service). The atmosphere is great; if you like American food, this is the place to be. There are worse burger joints.

Burger was pretty standard, nothing special about it. Have to queue for a while to place an order and then waited for about 20 mins before getting my food. Also €28 for a burger chips and drink is very expensive. Won't be coming back

Super delicious burgers in an American burger bar setting. There are special seats right by the window. It's great that you can top your burgers with extras at no extra charge. Mayo and ketchup are free.

I opted for something a little "untraditional"... so I got to enjoy the burger meat in a donut 😀. The side fries in the pan were just as eye-catching. The quality of the food is really good, and it was a solid experience. Everything was delicious... but "only" good. The hype from the Google reviews pushed my expectations very high. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to them 100%. It was missing that certain something that I can't put my finger on. Not a flavor explosion, more along the lines of "6.5 out of 10... a bit better than "normal" but still not mega-cool." But that's also nitpicking at a very high level, because the visit wasn't disappointing either. Since the food is solid and of a good standard, the ambiance is awesome/the location is really something special and the service (that's my personal experience, it could also have been the cashier being on a bad day) was so mediocre due to the lackluster demeanor of the employee... Yes... I think 4 stars is fair and well-intentioned :-).

We visited Düsseldorf yesterday with some friends and we ended up here accidentally. As an executive chef with 10 years of experience, this is one of the best burger places I have ever tried! From the atmosphere, to the food&drinks everything there is truly amazing! Eleftheria, the Girl in the counter that took our order was super professional and welcoming! I’d suggest What’s beef to everyone that wants quality,quantity and hospitality!

Tired after a long day, we saw the comfortable seats in the window and went inside. We ate delicious hamburgers and had a good rest there until the train time. They turned the music up a little too loud or it was noticeable because we were tired, but the result did not change. A very successful business

Best burger in Düsseldorf and that's not an opinion

The food was delicious. This applies to the bacon cheeseburger and the sweet potato fries. That came to 24 euros including the drink, which was too expensive for what was on the plate. The gentleman who brought me the food had forgotten my drink. After I pointed it out, I was not kindly told that I should get it myself.

Big, delicious and fast, fresh vegetables, meat. I recommend.

Update 02/12/25: And as always, if you don't give a 5 star rating, Google will threaten you with legal action. If this review is there to express your opinion then I ask why action is being taken against negative opinions. Unfortunately the taste of the burger wasn't that good. The fried onion ring was ice cold and the other stuff on the burger was kind of bland. Only the burger patty was delicious. Fries weren't that good either...they tasted rancid somehow and they also got cold very quickly due to the sour cream, guacamole and tomatoes. Drinks prices very high.

Well. One needs to order at the counter but the lady prioritised to just further keep storing glas plates, communicating “give me 2 min’” no I don’t give you. I need to go to the counter to order food and go again pick it up. I expect to be serviced immediately not after you did your chores.

A great burger place, in one word, amazing.

Overrated overpriced and underwhelming. First they got our order wrong. Mistakes happen but when I politely pointed it out the cashier corrected it while throwing in some unnecessary attitude. Great customer service. Then we waited nearly 30 minutes for a simple order. Even the people in line were complaining about the ridiculous wait time. And for what? Food that did not even come close to expectations. Five onion rings for €5.50 each one a sad excuse for an onion ring with a flimsy sliver of onion drowning in overcooked batter. Absolute rip off. Avoid.

So I'm really honest. Burger was really nothing special. Two burgers with a drink 41 EUR and the receipt was wrong because it was sold away from home. Wrong from a tax perspective. I don't want to act stupid and make it worse than it is. But waited 45 minutes for a burger that may be fresh but tastes absolutely weak.

The Green Machine burger was very good, cheese fries were okay and the dip was a bit hard because it was fresh from the fridge. The shake actually wasn't necessary, it was too much... the eye ate more. And I don't know who manages to eat all that :D but yes, the shake is something special to look at, but not in terms of taste.
