What’s Beef is a restaurant I always visit whenever I’m in Düsseldorf. Their BBQ Burger is perfectly balanced in terms of sauce, and the patty is cooked just right—juicy and generously portioned. 🍔 The atmosphere and concept are top-notch, and they occasionally offer student discounts or special promotions. The milkshake portions could be slightly bigger, though. The fries and sauces were great, and I liked that you could take as much as you wanted. However, when I asked for BBQ sauce, they didn’t have any—only mayo, ketchup, and mustard were available. 🍟🥤

I was amazed about the number of reviews and we had to try it. Unfortunately 2 star is our highest score. Meat in the burger is average taste, very poorly done (overfried/black on the edges). Ice tea is nice. Service is fair, even though I’ve seen a lot of wrong orders on the tables around us, so there is a place for upgrade. All in all, way overpriced and will not come back. 👎🏻

We had a very unpleasant experience at What’s Beef. A member of staff aggressively confronted us for using the toilet before ordering something - even though we explained it was urgent. His unfriendly and confrontational behavior made us feel uncomfortable and unwanted. We finally decided not to eat there. What was shocking was that he even followed us outside. We will be filing a formal complaint and unfortunately cannot recommend What’s Beef based on this experience.

10 years of coming and still in love!

We were there on a Tuesday lunchtime. Nothing going on, the food came quickly. Unfortunately, we had to wait quite a long time for the shake, despite there being hardly any guests. But everything tastes really delicious, and the price is absolutely reasonable. We can recommend it. (:

Burger was pretty standard, nothing special about it. Have to queue for a while to place an order and then waited for about 20 mins before getting my food. Also €28 for a burger chips and drink is very expensive. Won't be coming back

Standard burger chain. The burgers were okay, the guys behind the counter were relatively quick (but it's all self-service). The atmosphere is great; if you like American food, this is the place to be. There are worse burger joints.

Super delicious burgers in an American burger bar setting. There are special seats right by the window. It's great that you can top your burgers with extras at no extra charge. Mayo and ketchup are free.

I opted for something a little "untraditional"... so I got to enjoy the burger meat in a donut 😀. The side fries in the pan were just as eye-catching. The quality of the food is really good, and it was a solid experience. Everything was delicious... but "only" good. The hype from the Google reviews pushed my expectations very high. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to them 100%. It was missing that certain something that I can't put my finger on. Not a flavor explosion, more along the lines of "6.5 out of 10... a bit better than "normal" but still not mega-cool." But that's also nitpicking at a very high level, because the visit wasn't disappointing either. Since the food is solid and of a good standard, the ambiance is awesome/the location is really something special and the service (that's my personal experience, it could also have been the cashier being on a bad day) was so mediocre due to the lackluster demeanor of the employee... Yes... I think 4 stars is fair and well-intentioned :-).

We visited Düsseldorf yesterday with some friends and we ended up here accidentally. As an executive chef with 10 years of experience, this is one of the best burger places I have ever tried! From the atmosphere, to the food&drinks everything there is truly amazing! Eleftheria, the Girl in the counter that took our order was super professional and welcoming! I’d suggest What’s beef to everyone that wants quality,quantity and hospitality!

Tired after a long day, we saw the comfortable seats in the window and went inside. We ate delicious hamburgers and had a good rest there until the train time. They turned the music up a little too loud or it was noticeable because we were tired, but the result did not change. A very successful business

Best burger in Düsseldorf and that's not an opinion

The food was delicious. This applies to the bacon cheeseburger and the sweet potato fries. That came to 24 euros including the drink, which was too expensive for what was on the plate. The gentleman who brought me the food had forgotten my drink. After I pointed it out, I was not kindly told that I should get it myself.

Big, delicious and fast, fresh vegetables, meat. I recommend.

Update 02/12/25: And as always, if you don't give a 5 star rating, Google will threaten you with legal action. If this review is there to express your opinion then I ask why action is being taken against negative opinions. Unfortunately the taste of the burger wasn't that good. The fried onion ring was ice cold and the other stuff on the burger was kind of bland. Only the burger patty was delicious. Fries weren't that good either...they tasted rancid somehow and they also got cold very quickly due to the sour cream, guacamole and tomatoes. Drinks prices very high.

Well. One needs to order at the counter but the lady prioritised to just further keep storing glas plates, communicating “give me 2 min’” no I don’t give you. I need to go to the counter to order food and go again pick it up. I expect to be serviced immediately not after you did your chores.

A great burger place, in one word, amazing.

So I'm really honest. Burger was really nothing special. Two burgers with a drink 41 EUR and the receipt was wrong because it was sold away from home. Wrong from a tax perspective. I don't want to act stupid and make it worse than it is. But waited 45 minutes for a burger that may be fresh but tastes absolutely weak.

Overrated overpriced and underwhelming. First they got our order wrong. Mistakes happen but when I politely pointed it out the cashier corrected it while throwing in some unnecessary attitude. Great customer service. Then we waited nearly 30 minutes for a simple order. Even the people in line were complaining about the ridiculous wait time. And for what? Food that did not even come close to expectations. Five onion rings for €5.50 each one a sad excuse for an onion ring with a flimsy sliver of onion drowning in overcooked batter. Absolute rip off. Avoid.

The Green Machine burger was very good, cheese fries were okay and the dip was a bit hard because it was fresh from the fridge. The shake actually wasn't necessary, it was too much... the eye ate more. And I don't know who manages to eat all that :D but yes, the shake is something special to look at, but not in terms of taste.

Tonight, we went to What’s Beef Restaurant after making a reservation by phone. We even paid for an Uber to get there. As soon as we arrived, we were told they only accept cash, which was never mentioned on their website. After some back and forth, we noticed they actually had a card machine. The whole situation felt dishonest and unprofessional. It was a frustrating experience, and I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Die Bedienung war nicht sehr freundlich, wir wurden nicht bedient, während andere Gäste an den Nachbartischen ihre Bestellung gebracht bekamen, mussten wir unser Essen selbst holen. Es war relativ teuer. Wir hatten Burger + Pommes + 2 Wasser (ca. 50 EUR). Es hat alles nur nach Fett geschmeckt. Ein Besuch im McDonalds wäre günstiger gewesen und wir hätten den gleichen Service gehabt.

Disappointing. The burger is OK at most, the fries are just decent, the price is really high. For 2 people without dessert you can easily spend more than 60. For that money I will choose a normal restaurant next time

Given What's Beef's very high reviews, I was curious to know if the restaurant is really that good or if the reviews are manipulated. As you can see in the picture, the food is prepared in a visually appealing way. The Salim ABC Burger that I ordered was ready for pickup after 40 minutes of waiting. The bun was cold while the beef was tasty but nothing special. I expected that the only difference from a classic burger would be the addition of avocado, but the dip in the burger had a very oriental taste, more reminiscent of sauces used in Turkish kebabs. Anyone expecting an authentic American burger will definitely be disappointed here. My partner ordered a cheeseburger with bacon, but what he got was no bacon. Inside the burger was a piece of thinly sliced, seared beef. Bacon, as typically used in burgers, is dried and smoked pork belly that is deep-fried until it becomes crispy and acquires a rich, salty, and smoky flavor. What we were served had nothing to do with real bacon. In addition, the prices are relatively high, especially considering that the restaurant has a self-service concept - you have to order yourself, pick up the food and even dispose of the tray. For such a concept I would have expected lower prices or at least better service. Overall, the experience didn't justify the high ratings and I wouldn't go back.

We were served by Lili. And oh, does she really serve! She was really hospitable and attentive, ready to gift you a smile. She made sure that our requests were well understood, working out the language barriers. Now, about the burgers: the whole restaurant is just an experience. The decoration is insta worthy and the food itself surely as well. Not only the looks of it but also the taste did meet expectations.

Good fresh burgers. For 25 EUR including fries and a drink, it's not exactly cheap considering the fact that it's self-service. Burger only: 16 EUR. Next time I would just order the burger without any side dish. The Homemade Lemonade was a little too strong/sweet for me.

Went yesterday to eat with my family, although it was completely full and we were 6 people without a reservation Lilly was so kind to make a table for us. The food was really delicious but a little pricey, and the atmosphere very vibrant. My sister ordered a Lady Mermelade but the meat was still a little pink in the middle, however we informed about this to the server and she quickly offered us a new burger completely well done so definitely a good service. The only negative thing I can point out is that the wait time for the food was long and the toilets needed a little bit of attention…

Got trolled under the “Halal” search. Clarification: this place is NOT HALAL, they just don’t serve pork. Hence the confusion. We were misinformed by an employee that the place serves Halal meat however that wasn’t true.

Good burgers and fries, although on the expensive side. But the atmosphere is fantastic, with a lot of collectables all around the restaurant.

Very, very tasty burgers and something for everyone, the only star deduction is for the ambience because it can get very loud very quickly. Otherwise highly recommended! The staff is extremely friendly and very attentive, I would particularly like to highlight a woman named Mimi who always looked after our table!

Meanwhile, the prices for a burger have become truly ungodly. This still consists of two pieces of bread, a small piece of romana lettuce, a bit of tomato, house brand sauce, two slices of cheese and 300g of minced meat. 16€ for that? A portion of fries 5€? Ate a “burger” with your partner once and got €50 (two burgers, two drinks and one fries). Without a particularly good ambience or service. Trays must also be put away yourself. You just pay for the whatsbeef brand but you can get better burgers elsewhere for less money and the same McDonald's ambience (at least the benches are padded there)

We had a menu for 25€ (burger, fries, shake). The burger tasted good. The cheese fries were very tasty, but also massive (large portion). The shake was almost like a dessert. Unfortunately my shake was missing the mochi

Great store, we always enjoy coming here! The staff is very friendly, even towards children, and the food is delicious. The birthday shake promotion is also very cool. :) We had a little misunderstanding with our burger order and then got a new one and a shake on the house as compensation, super nice! I also think it's great that there are several delicious vegan burgers to choose from. The Captain Future Burger is a great highlight!

Food great, service and ambience could be better. It was relatively full so you were bumped into and the service staff couldn't get out more than yes, no and okay. When you pick up your order, it's more mecces than a restaurant.
