Wenzel Restaurant Warnemünde

A train station-like atmosphere with a very rude waiter. Questions weren't answered, and responses were rude. Supposedly open until 10:30 pm, but at 8:30 pm we were told the kitchen was closed, and tables and chairs were being dragged across the floor so loudly you couldn't hear yourself think. The food quality left much to be desired. The Bohemian dumplings had the consistency of a sponge and tasted of nothing. The sauerbraten was carelessly thrown onto the plate, and the sauce was a ready-made product. The solyanka as a starter was tasty. My conclusion: you can go there once every five years, but don't expect much.

The food and beer were very good. For that alone, it would have been 5 stars. However, I feel completely ripped off: I ordered the advertised offer of six Carlsbad Thalers for €6.95. But what was served and charged for was a similar dish from the regular menu, which only contains three Thalers and is almost twice as expensive. I noticed the smaller portion when it was served, which I initially accepted. Unfortunately, it wasn't until I got to the hotel and saw the receipt that I was charged for the much more expensive dish, costing €12.95. Therefore, only 3 stars.

Czech beer and the finest Czech food. My recommendation is the small smoked pork knuckle with a dark Budweiser. Delicious. Excellent service from the waiter from Meissen. Ahoy!

I simply love Czech food, and I was completely satisfied with this one. Sometimes the service took a little while, hence the one-point deduction. Otherwise, it was exactly as I'd hoped. I'm looking forward to the next time.

Unfortunately, it's closed on October 27, 2025, and won't open until 4 p.m. The website says it's open until 10 p.m.

Today, October 24, 2025, we were very disappointed with both the waiter and the kitchen. We had ordered and received the small knuckle of pork. The waiter ignored us for a long time because he didn't seat us, but rather his colleague behind the counter. The meal was "prepared" around 2:00 PM and served to us around 3:00 PM. The knuckle of pork was lukewarm and undercooked, almost raw in places, and the sauce was custard-like. The only food we could enjoy was the sauerkraut and the lukewarm bread dumplings. We had also informed the very unfriendly waiter (an older gentleman with a beard wearing a thick, warm jacket) of this. He very unfriendly offered us two cappuccinos, which we declined simply because of his unfriendliness. We paid our bill and hope that this waiter will also eat such unfinished (half-raw) food in the future. In any case, we never want to be served by this waiter again. We always enjoyed going to Wenzel, including with our family, but that seems to be over now. The other, young and very nice waiter, whom we already knew from the past, unfortunately had to serve other tables today.

It wasn't our first visit to this restaurant, but at some point, you just decide to share a few well-deserved words of praise. It all started with our pre-order. Even though we were told by phone that all the tables were already booked, we were still given a seat. Upon arrival, we were again pleasantly surprised, as head waitress Sabine Böhme immediately found the perfect seating solution for us. Thank you very much for that, dear Sabine. Otherwise, our visit, as with our previous visits, went perfectly... from the taking of our order to the excellent quality of the food and drinks offered, right through to the delicious desserts. All in all, a perfect evening, and we can highly recommend this restaurant. A big thank you to the team, who looked after us so well throughout.

The service is absolutely terrible. The only thing I give 5 points for is the arrogance of the waiter! Half the dining room has a reserved sign on the table, and then you're assigned a table where the draft is unbearable. If you speak up and move, you're not served at all. I didn't experience such a bad restaurant, not even during the GDR era! I won't be going back to that place!!!!!!

Delicious but waited longer it was full

I can't understand why, as a single person in a half-empty dining room, I can't choose my own seat but am directed to an area where the tables are almost full. So today I left again, without eating, even though the beer goulash here is very good. And that was definitely my last attempt.

We were there today shortly after 7 p.m. and wanted to eat without a reservation. We weren't assigned a table because they said everything was booked. However, there were still free tables, perhaps they were actually reserved. We didn't feel welcome. It seemed like we were disturbing us or that they were happy if no one else came. They didn't even try to check on us. Two stars for the ambiance and location. Service 0 stars! Fortunately, there are plenty of good restaurants to choose from that even greet you warmly.

TOP ADDRESS when it comes to food and well-being...also when it comes to beer enjoyment...

We were very impressed with the restaurant a year ago. So we thought we'd come back on a Monday this year. The salmon tarte flambée and the rest of the food were also okay. It's definitely perfect for a quick bite between meals. Unfortunately, we weren't sure whether we were disturbing the service. At times, we had the feeling it was a mass-processing operation. The reservation system was also a bit unclear to us. There were plenty of free tables. Reserving a day in advance was sufficient for us. Perhaps a forecast in the meal planning? However, this feedback doesn't apply to all the staff. Occasionally, other employees also offered clever, appropriate remarks. Thanks for that. I think the colleague here was just having a bad day and things will be better next time. All in all, a solid address in Warnemünde.

We enjoyed a very tasty starter (Wenzel's little things), followed by Pilsner goulash and, to finish, Kaiserschmarrn. Everything was very good. Add a beer (or two or three), a nice atmosphere, and extremely friendly service—what more could you want?! We'll be back!

You should offer whatever food you can. Solyanka as a starter was great. The main course, cheese spaetzle, was a complete disaster! Nothing homemade, just spaetzle bought from a wholesale market and no idea how to prepare it. Even after complaining that there was no cheese in it, it was served again exactly as it was. Even the friendliness of the waiter didn't help; it was definitely my last visit to a Wenzel restaurant! I've been to Wenzel several times in Halle/S. and Dresden, and the food has gotten worse over the years. I haven't been to a Wenzel restaurant for a year now because of this. Now another disaster. That's what happens when you don't learn from your mistakes!

One waiter who took the check was very unfriendly. It was the one with the big belly. Everyone else was friendly. We politely asked for the bill five times. As we were getting our suits on, he came over and said, "You can see I'm shaking my balls." That's never happened to us before.

We went out for dinner after a long time. With the sun shining, we weren't allowed out on the terrace. The food was simply overseasoned, so not really. The smoked pork sausage consisted entirely of tendons and fat, and the dumplings had nothing to do with Czech dumplings. The beer was delicious. We've had much better food here for the price. Only the view of the Alter Strom (Old Stream) somewhat compensated for that. We won't be coming back.

Great restaurant with a beautiful ambiance! We sat outside overlooking the canal (?) and had excellent food, although the price was a bit high. It tasted excellent, though, and fish does cost a bit more. We had a wonderful afternoon; I would highly recommend the service, ambiance, and food!

A restaurant where you can enjoy rustic food that's very close to Bohemian cuisine. The service was truly courteous and attentive, and open to small talk. The world-famous beer, of course, is a must with Bohemian food.

Unfortunately, the price/performance ratio doesn't match here. Goulash consists of five pieces of meat and four thin slices of dumplings. Super tasty, tender, but who's supposed to get half-full from that? Unfortunately, we were a bit disappointed.

The Wenzel Restaurant on the old river is truly a beautiful place to dine. Especially in summer, the outdoor seating is fantastic and you can enjoy the view of the hustle and bustle. The food and drinks are consistently delicious – you definitely have to try the knuckle of pork! Children are also well looked after, and the friendly and attentive service ensures that everyone feels completely at home. We'll definitely be back! ☺️

Update 2025 The goulash has now become a small portion for 20 euros without any other side dishes. So 5 pieces of meat and 4 slices of dumplings............2024 That's super standard. Super because you can rely on the quality. So great. 1 floor with a view inside or on the terrace. There is an escalator to the top! Nice service and we had the beer goulash, very tasty as you would expect. And as always, a good selection of beers. Thank you. The price is still ok. Cabbage used to be part of the dish, but now you have to order it separately. Update: Beef goulash and roulade are highly recommended. Unfortunately, the prices have continued to rise and the service is not always up to scratch. I would have liked to have had another beer with my meal.

Great Czech restaurant with good food at reasonable prices and a fantastic view of the bridge. There are two floors: the ground floor is also accessible for people with disabilities. There's an escalator to the first floor...but I wonder how people with disabilities are supposed to manage all those steps? 🤔

Hey, After a lovely morning and afternoon at Karls' strawberry farm, I made a detour to Warnemünde. This time I also managed to stop at Wenzel's. Friendly and welcoming staff. The food also had a view of the Alter Strom. It was delicious again 😋. # Wenzel Boltenhagen, Dresden, Halle Warnemünde

We loved the Wenzel in Warnemünde. That changed today. We made a dinner reservation. This reservation was confirmed and canceled shortly afterwards without explanation. We then simply walked into the restaurant to find a sufficient number of available tables. BUT - a sign asked us to wait until we were seated. The young lady behind the counter referred us to a colleague who would be arriving. The colleague who arrived referred us to a colleague who would be arriving. Conclusion - guests are no longer welcome at the Wenzel; we will now eat at the Kettenkasten.

Unfortunately, we were disappointed. The small Bohemian smoked knuckle – a joke for €21.00. The dumplings and the sauce tasted of nothing. The knuckle was also tasteless, not to mention the lack of any smoky flavor. Only the sauerkraut was good.

Potatoes undercooked Brussels sprouts still hard

Unfortunately, the food wasn't that good. The pork schnitzel was okay, but the sauce that came with it had a strange taste, as did the accompanying Brussels sprouts. The latter were also very hard. Then came the so-called Kaiserschmarrn (sweet pancake). It was cut into large square slices and wasn't cooked through. It even gave me stomach problems. The service was also bad, unfortunately. The waiter spilled some of the food on the floor while serving. He took the plate back, but the spill stayed. No one cleaned it up, even though another guest slipped on it and almost fell.

Not the way it used to be. It was supposed to be a nice end to the holiday and the disappointment was huge. We went there often and since last year I no longer considered it to be anything special. The price-performance ratio is no longer right and I find the food to be presented without love and boring. As a holder of a loyalty card, I had to endure rather arrogant and condescending lectures from the service staff. That is definitely the wrong way to ensure a pleasant experience for guests. You should also make an effort with the locals because it is not always the season🤔. I find it very negative when you have to wait 25 minutes in a nearly empty restaurant just to be asked for a drink. I had already wondered why the arrogant waiter clears the empty tables first instead of getting drinks to the new guests and maybe even selling a second drink. Sales don't seem to be an incentive. My 0.5-liter Alster beer was beyond awful. I can't say why it tasted so bad, and honestly, no thanks to that arrogant waiter again. Whatever, I won't be going back to Wenzels anytime soon, and they won't be giving away gift vouchers either. There are other restaurants for this price range. There's too much room for improvement here.

We wanted a bite to eat around 9:15 PM, and when we arrived, we were told that wouldn't be a problem. We could choose a table outside on the "balcony." A portly waiter then came to our table to ask what we wanted. We explained that we wanted a drink, but also something to eat. This was met with a sigh 🤔. When we explained that someone else had said we could, we were told that "no one was home." We were asked if we had already made a choice of food, and explained that we hadn't looked at the menu yet. When we wanted a beer, we were asked what kind of beer they had. Since we had just sat down, we hadn't seen what they had. When we asked what kind of beer they had, we were told "lots" 🤷. When asked what a good beer was, the answer was "I don't drink beer." We should have left at that point, but alas... we stayed. After our drinks were brought, we ordered our food right away. Our food was brought by a different waitress who practically slammed it onto the table, barely looking at us, and still managed to enjoy a delicious meal. We had a flammkuche and a schnitzel with potatoes and Brussels sprouts. The flammkuche was good (you can't really mess it up here), but the potatoes and Brussels sprouts were undercooked and still hard. Not tasty... That really spoiled our pleasant evening. Then another waitress came (with a piercing, two-tone hair, and a unique hairstyle) who realized we weren't satisfied. She was really sweet and polite. She was genuinely upset that we'd been treated that way. She even offered to pay for only half the meal, but we didn't want to. She also didn't understand her colleague, since the restaurant is open until 10:30 PM. She felt really bad for us, and she made up for her colleague's behavior with her sincere apologies. Her colleagues can learn a lot from her, and she deserves 5 stars!!! All in all, our nice evening was quite spoiled by this experience and we will never come here again!

Very expensive for small appetizer portions. Paying around €8 for just a portion of fries or a soda is pretty steep. But at least it tastes good. If you show up without a table reservation, you're out of luck. Even though many tables are marked "reserved," no one shows up. I've noticed this several times. Probably due to a lack of staff. It's better to communicate this openly and honestly than to make excuses like this.

Beautifully located in Warnemünde harbor with a view of the harbor. We had roast and tarte flambée with salmon, both of which were very well prepared. The server was attentive and friendly.

In my opinion, unusually bad for Czech restaurants. 1st visit: A dish of fried salmon fillet on roasted vegetables with sour cream. The roasted vegetables consisted of 80% onions. (No joke) 2nd visit: June 18, 2025 - approx. 6:00 p.m.: - Terrace closed due to strong winds (wind speed 14 km/h, bright sunshine) - No Staropramen light beer available - Dish: Beer goulash - I ordered one more slice of dumpling. They also got one more slice, but all the slices were very small and extra thin. Compared to the person sitting next to me, it was a provocation for me. It's getting two stars instead of one because at least the service was still friendly.

We celebrated our wedding there. After consulting with the restaurant management, we were given a private room with a terrace overlooking the Alter Strom. Our guests had free choice of food and drinks. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Our service was excellent.

Unfortunately, it's no longer possible to reserve a table here after 7 p.m. We were at a large event in Warnemünde over the weekend, and the restaurant was unable to accommodate us for two consecutive days. What a shame...

Yes, you can do it, but you don't have to. We just wanted a drink, and even that took 10 minutes to get to us, even though it wasn't busy, and then another 10 minutes for four drinks. The waiter also wanted to be funny, but he should have left it alone; it was very unpleasant.

It's getting worse and worse. The food comes out of a bag. The service is irritated, the tables are dirty. The food is half cold. Not recommended.

I actually come here several times a year and always eat beef goulash. This time, I noticed a price increase compared to the price on the website menu (€20.64) and our bill (€21.58). The portion was so small, I honestly counted five pieces of beef. The dumplings were also considerably thinner than usual. So, for the first time, I left the restaurant feeling truly unsatiated, and I'll consider whether to return.

A visit to Wenzel's is a must for every vacation. Delicious food and great Czech beer. Always delicious. Friendly service is also part of the Wenzel experience. The customer card is highly recommended. If you can snag a seat outside, you'll also have a great view of the Old Stream.

A very nice place. If you want to drink fine beer, this is a must. The food is only moderately recommended. Too expensive for little food. The dumplings aren't homemade, and you can only taste the beer goulash. We're used to different things from the Czech Republic. It's like a Greek restaurant. No matter where you go, the food is the same everywhere, and it tastes the same, too.

We've been to the Wenzel Warnemünde many times... sometimes with and sometimes without reservations, and we've been very satisfied every time. Yesterday again... this time with dear AIDA friends from Halle, Westfalen. This time I personally reserved a table for four by the window with a fantastic view of the water. I highly recommend the Wenzel Warnemünde in every respect... from the ambiance to the delicious food and the extremely friendly service. We've ALWAYS felt very comfortable and will be happy to come back again 🤩

Unfortunately, the price-performance ratio doesn't fit here at all. The portions, especially for the goulash, are far too small. Charging 21 euros for 3-4 small pieces of meat + a few slices of pre-made dumplings is an outrage. The drinks are also too expensive. Charging 6.67 euros for a 0.4 l KiBa is not possible. Even the 0.5l beer costs 6.65 euros. For 2 meals and 2 drinks 58 euros is crazy. We know the staff themselves can't help it, but we won't go there again and can't recommend it either. Sorry.

32€ for a schnitzel - put 6! If the restaurant was empty, it can stay that way! As to whether we still ate the schnitzel, I would like to say this Bejan because I can't respond to the answer any differently. The schnitzel dish was eaten twice, as well as goulash and knuckle once. Food was ok, but still not worth the price, hence the rating. The competition on the opposite side can do this better, even at a better price.

The knuckle tastes particularly good!

Beer goulash was good, dumplings were cold and dry. Absolutely not! The staff are nice.

When you enter the restaurant and are reminded that you haven't greeted the easily overlooked lady behind the counter, it's a bit odd. It's even more bizarre when the waiter doesn't return your greeting. They might even make you wait a bit longer to take your order. The dark beer and the great seating upstairs more than made up for it.

I visited this restaurant yesterday for the first and last time. We waited 1.5 hours for our food and received the wrong order. We weren't offered any excuses other than a drink or dessert from the house. We were simply offered to eat what was brought. When I asked why it took so long, given that the other guests, who arrived much later than us, had already finished their main courses, the waiter replied, "What can I do? Why are you asking me these questions? All questions go to the kitchen." I was speechless.
