The coffee we were served there (cappuccino and filter coffee) was terrible. The service was also terrible: two nice people who wanted to sit at our table were turned away by the waiter, even though we didn't object, with the words, "We're not allowed to sit at the same table as other people." Very unpleasant. The view of the sea, on the other hand, is undeniably great.

It was very tasty 😊 We'd love to come again.

I rarely write reviews, but what we experienced at the Giftbude was so disappointing that I simply had to this time. We loved coming here for many years – with family, with friends, on vacation. It was always a lovely place with a pleasant atmosphere and friendly staff. But what has become of this place is simply sad. As soon as we entered, we were greeted with an unfriendly and annoyed attitude. No smile, no friendliness, instead a tone as if guests were more of a burden than welcome. When we then politely asked for a little help with the children, we received a completely outrageous reaction – rude, condescending, and in a tone that should not be used towards any guest, especially not families with small children. You felt like you were simply a nuisance. Then the prices: €6.60 for a Coke! That's beyond good and evil. The food is also overpriced, and the value for money is completely out of reach. If at least the service were friendly or the quality adequate, you could overlook it – but this just leaves the impression that you're just being ripped off. We were really annoyed because we associate so many fond memories with this place. Coming here every year was almost a ritual – but that will definitely not be the case anymore. Being treated so unfriendly, disrespectful, and greedily was the last time. Bottom line: We were loyal guests for years, but this gift shop has finally lost us. We won't spend another cent here.

Extremely friendly service. Child-friendly, we were served quickly—too quickly, in fact. Less than five minutes after ordering, the fish, sausages, and pizza were on the table. The pizza could have stayed in the oven a minute or two longer, in our opinion. Overall, though, solid, down-to-earth food. If you're looking for something simpler and quick, this is the place to go. The prices are perfectly reasonable, and the location right by the sea is also fantastic.

Cappuccino to go: Tasted like something from a cone. We reported that. According to the server, we're "part of the other 5%." Apparently, 95% of people come there just for the excellent hot drink. Well then...

A restaurant with a good menu. The food is absolutely excellent. Excellent value for money. No long waits. The service has a positive Nordic charm; it's very helpful. Most of the interiors offer views of the beach promenade and the North Sea. Advance reservations are absolutely essential for the interior. We'd happily go back anytime; we've been there several times.

Today we (two adults and two children) wanted to have lunch at the "Giftbude" restaurant. However, the whole thing fell apart upon entering the restaurant, or rather, we ended up with a stroller and a sleeping child on the stairs! A waiter whistled at us on the stairs, saying that strollers weren't allowed. When we asked how he would handle the whole thing with a sleeping 4-year-old, he bluntly replied, "We should just leave the child standing on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant," which, of course, was completely unacceptable to us. Not recommended! A disgrace!

A 5-star gift shop with attentive service, delicious food, and a great location. We've eaten there several times and were always impressed 🤩 I recommend this restaurant 100%✌️. The sunsets are also very enjoyable there 😎

We only had a drink here. Nice spot with a view of the sea. The tables were sandy due to the strong wind. But... the North Sea and the wind belong here. The sand didn't bother us. 😁😄😃

I was there at the end of August with my children and grandchildren. We ordered appetizers and a main course. Before we could even enjoy the appetizers, the main course was on the table. Since we had two children under one year old with us, we asked for the awning to be extended. The only responses were illogical and negative. The staff weren't particularly friendly. The food was delicious. The view from the terrace is fantastic.

Ideal for a drink or a snack in a perfect beach location overlooking the sea. Very courteous and helpful service, who immediately resolved a minor issue with ordering and payment. Guests with smaller orders should bring some cash for payment.

Cozy restaurant with a beautiful sea view. We both had pizza and were very happy with our choice. The staff was friendly and helpful. We made a reservation in advance because it can get very busy at peak times. However, reservations are only possible inside. If there's space outside, you can always sit outside.

The location is quite nice, though in places, the decor is a bit lackluster. We sat on the terrace; we can't comment on the interior. The drinks were taken and delivered quickly, but after that, there was no further service. We approached several servers and didn't get a menu (apparently, they don't serve them outside either, but they just didn't tell us). After 45 minutes without being able to order food, we had to ask for the bill twice. We gave some friendly feedback, but unfortunately, it wasn't received very warmly.

The restaurant is located directly on the beach. The terrace is sheltered from wind and rain and offers a fantastic view of the sea.

The food is very delicious. We had to make concessions with the service this time (it was better two years ago). However, it was also very crowded. The view of the setting sun from the dinner table is unparalleled.

I've rarely experienced such disrespectful treatment. My fish fillet had several bones in it – something that simply shouldn't happen in a restaurant of this price range. When I politely pointed this out to the waiter, the manager was immediately called. Instead of apologizing or resolving the problem amicably, he rudely told me that "fish has bones" and that I "don't know anything about food." Then came the absolute shocker: He literally told me to "please go eat somewhere else and never come back!" I've never experienced anything like it. Being treated like this as a paying guest is an absolute disgrace. The food was mediocre, the service abysmal, and the manager's behavior was simply unprofessional. If you don't want your evening ruined, you should steer clear of this place.

The Giftbude on Norderney is an absolute insider tip for anyone who wants to enjoy good food in a dream location. The relaxed atmosphere is immediately apparent upon entering – right on the beach, with a magnificent view of the sea. The location is truly unbeatable and creates a true holiday feeling! The food was consistently delicious – freshly prepared, lovingly presented, and superbly flavorful. Whether you prefer fish, meat, or vegetarian – everyone will find something to suit their taste. The quality of the ingredients and the creative execution of the dishes are particularly noteworthy. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive, without being intrusive. As a guest, you feel completely welcome and well looked after. A small note: In strong winds, some sand may blow onto the terrace – despite the protective screens. However, this is completely understandable and somehow part of the charm of a restaurant right by the sea. Those who love pure nature will hardly find it a disturbance. The only minor criticism: Payments can only be made with debit cards; unfortunately, credit cards are not accepted. Especially in a tourist-heavy place like Norderney, it would be desirable if international cards were also accepted. This would make the stay even more convenient for many guests. Nevertheless, the Giftbude is a place you absolutely must visit – whether for a relaxed lunch, a sundowner, or a romantic dinner with the sound of the sea in the background. I'll definitely be back!

The service was all in all nice and good, unfortunately the food arrived very late for our children and it was unfortunately not convincing (some of the fish was fried too dry, too salty and the potatoes were cold), ambience was actually good, but when everyone around you is smoking it is unfortunately no longer so appetizing.

Yes, I can recommend it. I've tried almost every Italian restaurant. The food is delicious, the prices are reasonable. The service is friendly. Reservations are recommended.

The ambiance is appealing, and the service was generally good. Unfortunately, the vegetarian options were disappointing: the selection was very limited, and my choice—the truffle pasta—wasn't very flavorful. The "winter truffle" was hard, almost tasteless, and the aroma that gave it its name was barely noticeable.

We once again wanted to go to the Giftbude for lunch with two elderly islanders (both long-time customers). We sat on the terrace in the sun and ordered drinks (high prices even for New Zealand, e.g., a Coke for €6.60). When we asked for menus, the answer was: They don't have them here. The waiter then pushed a rack with several A3-sized menus at an angle to our table, so that we had to contort ourselves to read them. Some couldn't even read the small print. When we politely asked for proper menus, the unfriendly answer was again: They're not available out here. I then went into the restaurant and got the menus and returned to our table to choose our dishes. Shortly afterward, an extremely unfriendly, very bad-tempered waitress came to our table and immediately demanded the menus back. The cards would be damaged by the sand outside. Unfortunately, we had already received drinks by then. We were completely ignored afterward and went to a friendly restaurant after paying. Up until now, we've always been happy and welcome guests at the Giftbude. That's over now.

Nice place right on the beach! The pizzas are solid, but still have room for improvement. The dough is top-notch, really great! When it comes to toppings, less would actually be more – what feels like an entire jar of olives is way too much of a good thing, for example ;) Better mozzarella would enhance the whole experience even further.

Unfortunately, absolutely disappointing – never again! Six of us went to the Giftbude on Norderney – it was my first visit, while my companion had only had good things to say. This made the disappointment even greater: Two elderly people in our group had great difficulty reading the tiny writing on the blackboard that was rolled to our table as a "menu." When we politely asked for a regular menu, the staff – especially the very short, unfortunately extremely unfriendly waitress – treated us snippy and disrespectfully. Her original response was something like: "Tough, that's how it is here, you'll just have to live with it." A pure desert of service. Friendliness? None. Customer focus? Nonexistent. We finished our drinks and left – we didn't eat anything. It's a shame, but under the circumstances: definitely never again! Perhaps it's part of the concept that in a restaurant called Giftbude, you're treated accordingly "toxically." That was it for us, anyway. Zero stars.

One of our favorite restaurants on Norderney. We keep coming back because you can sit here whatever the weather. The service is super friendly, and you can just have a drink, coffee, or cake here. But you can also have a delicious dinner. The pizza is super 😋 delicious. Highly recommended.

How the restaurant industry can change with a change of leadership! We've been coming to Norderney for 40 years. For the last 15, at least three times a year. Since we live nearby, a visit to the "Giftbude" was a must at least twice per vacation. Always very satisfied with the service, value for money, and food. The New Year's Eve menu three years ago was also top-notch. In 2024, the "Strandfunk" on Norderney reported: The daughter has now taken over. The restaurant location and food remain good, but the service, the customer service, and the treatment of guests (unfriendly and dismissive) were all a disaster. We were there last week: The increasing number of negative reviews and the above statements can be fully confirmed. We were unlucky and weren't served by the friendly young man, but by the manager herself. Even the "small" waitress (super nice and friendly) wasn't there. Rude behavior, lacking empathy, and completely overwhelmed. We paid for the drinks and left. Conclusion: it will not harm the business, as the location is top and the new customers/day visitors secure the sales.

Friendly, courteous staff. There's a microwave for heating baby food, but unfortunately, there was still some baby food from the previous parent in it. I don't understand why other parents couldn't wipe up the spilled baby food. 3 stars because the "Kurt" was unfortunately a bit watered down (it's tasted better before) and the shandy had a strange aftertaste.

So, today I went here with my girlfriend for the first time because I really wanted to eat fish, and I can absolutely recommend it. I had the fish platter, my girlfriend had a pizza, and for dessert, we had creme brulee and teramisu. We were absolutely thrilled and would recommend this place to anyone and would love to come back. The service is excellent, and the chefs do a fantastic job, too. The atmosphere, with the direct view of the sea, is simply wow... :)

Yesterday, four of us visited the Giftbude. I was there alone last week. Where to begin? We had a great spot on the outdoor terrace. The staff was super friendly and incredibly attentive; I've rarely experienced anything so wonderful 😊 Drinks and food came very quickly, and the dishes were all served together, which unfortunately isn't common everywhere these days. We had two redfish dishes, one fish dish, and one sole dish. The food was simply delicious 🤤 We would choose the Giftbude again anytime, because service and quality are still very important here!!! Thank you for this wonderful experience 😘 You are simply amazing

The waiter was extremely nice, accommodated special requests perfectly, and the food was truly delicious. The portions were generous, too. Not to mention the beautiful view of the sea. Definitely recommended.

Unfortunately, we weren't satisfied this time; one dish was absolutely tasteless. When we asked if we enjoyed it, she looked suspiciously at the pasta plate, and we said, "No." The cream was overcooked, completely sticky, and had no flavor. The salmon tasted of nothing. There was no reaction. The other dishes were okay. Not even a reaction when paying. We had also made a reservation. Upon arrival, we were told we had canceled. We had our 93-year-old mother with us. We were then given a table in the corner and were given strange looks by another waiter. We didn't feel comfortable. The other waiters were very nice, though. We won't be going back for dinner, though.

Basically, the pizza is okay, but if you don't like a pile of flabby mushrooms from a jar, you should stay away from "Funghi"...

The first good restaurant you come across when you arrive by ferry and walk along the beach. A very nice, tall, dark-haired waiter with glasses gave us excellent advice, and the bottle of Pinot Gris was really good. The only food we had was baked potatoes and bruschetta. However, the menu offers a lot more, from fish to pizza. Absolutely reasonable value for money; €27 for a bottle of wine on the seafront is justifiable. You can have a great time here.

Simply put: a feel-good place with a fantastic view of the North Sea!

Good food and drink just from a small promenade from the beach. During the day there are tourists hanging around everywhere because the poison stall is an attraction on the west beach, as is the milk bar. If you like pseudo celebrities, you're in good hands here. In the evening it is a good restaurant that also offers good service.

We have been regular guests at this restaurant for several years and have been satisfied so far. Our visit today was all the more disappointing: we had a reservation with several people at two different tables. Unfortunately we were treated very unprofessionally by a short, dark-haired waitress. It was less about the content of the communication and more about the tone and way in which we were spoken to - unfriendly, condescending and inappropriate. This dampened the mood so much that part of our group left the restaurant and went to eat somewhere else. It's a shame, especially after so many years as loyal guests. We no longer come to the poison booth and are simply speechless about how we treat the guests.

I had a fantastic experience with my girlfriend for the second time in the gift shop. The food was absolutely delicious, especially the pizza and rump steak, and the service was first class. Our waitress was very attentive and gave excellent recommendations. The owner is super friendly and very accommodating. The ambience was perfect for one relaxed evening. I can't wait to come back and try more dishes.

The food was okay, few meat-free options, but what was there was good. Unfortunately, the waiter made completely unpleasant and sexist comments and didn't understand until the end that we found this inappropriate. That's why I wouldn't go there anymore.

Unfortunately we were not satisfied, the starter - bruchetta - tasted bland, poorly seasoned, the bread was not toasted. We waited 35 minutes for the main course, which also had no taste. The 2 stars are for the friendly staff and the beautiful view.

Our card (credit card) was not accepted - had to take a taxi to the ATM - had offered to show it in person, was not accepted, money may still be lost in the cellar/interior - despite the cash payment, the waitress had a very bad defiant reaction, no understanding, no apology - unfortunately not a nice experience - was there last time - but thank God there are many other nice restaurants on our island

Unfassbar schlecht !!!!! Ich habe ein Glas Chardonnay bestellt und eine ganz schlechte Qualität bekommen. Ich habe nach einmal probieren den Kellner sofort darauf hingewiesen, dass der Wein wie Essig schmeckt. Er bot mir daraufhin an, einen neuen Wein bestellen zu können. Das tat ich dann auch und bestellte einen teureren Wein für 9,00 das Glas. Wir haben dann auch noch zu Mittag gegessen und zu zweit über 90 EUR verkonsumiert. Das Essen war überhaupt nicht gut, wir mussten nachwürzen und haben uns nicht beschwert. Als die Rechnung kam, ist uns aufgefallen, dass der Chardonnay berechnet wurde. Auf Rückfrage, „erklärte“ uns der Kellner unhöflich, dass wir den Wein gefälligst zu bezahlen hätten. Er und seine Kollegen hätten ihn nach unserer Beschwerde probiert und nichts feststellen können. Wir haben dann brav bezahlt und nicht diskutiert. Jedoch werden wir diesen Laden sicherlich nicht noch einmal betreten. Schlechtes Essen und schlechten Service kennen wir von dieser Insel nicht und daher gehen wir zukünftig lieber woanders essen. Auswahl gibt es hier genug.

When we stopped for coffee he immediately made us feel welcome and the service was very nice. Unfortunately, our dog put this to the test by putting a cat on the terrace - because he had probably drunk too much salt water. Faster than we could see, she was there with cleaning supplies and a bucket and removed the stain. She said it happens more often because of the salt water. The woman is simply great!!!! Coffee, tea and espresso came quickly and it was a nice, entertaining morning. The tip was generous according to the service. We'll definitely come back. Thanks!

We were there with a group and I ordered a starter, calamari, then the very nice waitress arrived and said there wasn't a full portion but only a leftover, okay we took the rest, but when we paid, only 1.50 was deducted from the 17 euro dish, even when asked, it stayed that way. It's a shame and we certainly won't show up there again but they don't care.

As a mother alone with her child, only being ordered drinks and not being served after 45 minutes is quite unpleasant. Child is sad and still hungry after visit.
