Wen Cheng 1 in Berlin

Extremely delicious noodles...I've been dreaming about this dish ever since I ate it. You should definitely make a reservation if you don't want to rely on luck. The dishes are beautifully prepared with fresh ingredients.

Wen Cheng 1 was a great find. Biang biang beef noodles in their menu was out of the world. But beware if you can’t tolerate chilli. We took spice level two as our spice tolerance is a bit high. It was really spicy but at an enjoyable level. The noodles are hand pooled in the live kitchen. Beef was probably separately cooked, which melted like butter in mouth. Noodles were topped with chopped garlic, coriander, pakchoi, chilli oil and beef. Recommended. We also tried the bao bun crispy burger. Which is seen in the photo. It was also delicious. But i’d go for the noodles again.

I had seen the long line a while ago and was skeptical. At some point I hired it, tried a bowl and I've been an absolute fan ever since! There are few places in Berlin where I experience such an explosion of taste. I'm happy to get in line now. Once you're in, it's super quick. Absolutely recommended!

Very tasty homemade noodles in an authentic broth. The chili oil contributes a lot to the flavor. The beef was tenderly braised and with the anise flavors it reminded me of braised dishes at my favorite Chinese restaurant. The service was very attentive and asked directly whether they should serve the mild version for my child without chili oil. Braised eggplant as a vegetarian alternative is also very tasty.

We were 2, having lunch at Wen Cheng. You should calculate with some waiting time because there’s an extra waiting queue outside. After 5-10 mins waiting we could enter. We chose Biang Biang Beef and Wen Cheng Tofu & Shiitake. Noodles were chewy and also not that slithery so they could absorb the taste well. Only criticism that from menu it is said the Wen Cheng Noodles are less oily than the Biang Biang, but in our case it was not. Also beef was quite dry. I would recommend you to take the cucumber salad to balance out the spiciness and oiliness from the noodles.

Came here on the recommendation of a friend. The noodles are good. It's not the meat. Atmosphere of a truck driver bar in northern China. The fruit flies are annoying

It was amazing, tad on the pricier side but can’t complain in this economy. The spice levels vary in different Wen Chengs, Asian spicy in one doesn’t mean the same in another for eg. But a great place and recommended

1 sheet of pak choi and the rest was tagliatelle with meat in a sauce that was far too hot and was hardly edible because there was so much chilli. And at almost €20 for one portion. Don't know if it's just for delivery or if you also eat there. In any case, I cannot recommend delivery.

Good food, friendly staff, little noisy inside but food was really good

If you're looking for a place with top-notch noodles and irresistible bunbao, look no further than Weng Cheng. The noodles are absolutely perfect – fresh, tasty and with a wonderfully tender texture. I would particularly like to emphasize the loving preparation that you can feel in every bite. The Bunbao are a real highlight: fluffy, aromatic and with a filling that simply melts in your mouth. You can immediately tell that great value is placed on quality and authenticity here. The atmosphere is inviting, the service attentive and warm. A place I can fully recommend, I'm already looking forward to my next visit!

As a Chinese gal who knows the taste of of these lamb cumin hand-pulled noodles, this place doesn’t even come close. Noodles are thicker than my chopsticks. It’s greasy and oily. There’s not much taste or spice of the Szechuan peppercorns or cumin that’s traditionally found in that region of China. It wants to be like Xi An but falls short. For the Germans that can’t handle the real spice

A paradise for handmade pasta lovers. The service was very friendly. The food came super quickly. The line to get a table was long but it was worth it. I had to wait about 15 minutes.

You don't want to leave here anymore...! Best hand pulled noodles in town. But it's better not to sit comfortably. The store thrives on quick sales. Bring a bit of time... queue in front of the door, but it's processed quickly👍 very nice staff

A year ago it was one of my favorite restaurants in Berlin. Now eating is no longer a pleasure. Noodles are tasteless and overcooked. The sauce doesn't taste the same as it used to. And the vegetarian version has neither taste nor consistency. Too bad!

Came here for take away. From ordering to getting food took 15 minutes as estimated by the staff. The queue for dine in was pretty long but the place has cool vibes outside and inside.

One of the best stores in Germany, but definitely go to WenCheng 1 and not the others. The quality and love in 1 is better than in 2 or 3.

I was with you for the first time today. The food was really inedible. I had the Biang Biang noodles noodles with tofu and shitaake mushrooms. Some of the noodles were stuck together. The sauce was inedible. Everything deserves a 2nd chance, so I will come back to try something different. The waiter was very attentive and very friendly.

A bit overhyped, overpriced and oily but I feel oily is in the nature of the dish. Can't knock the flavour though.

Very tasty hand-pulled noodles! Great play of flavors and really worth a visit. I personally found what is advertised as “spicy” to be spicy at best, but there are ways to increase the level of spiciness if desired. The wait for a table is very worth it, takeaway not so much… Since the queue for a table was very long, we decided to order at the takeaway counter. Unfortunately, we waited 60 minutes for our food, while another customer who was in line at the takeaway counter after us got his food after 40 minutes. We probably wouldn't have had to wait as long for a table and in the end we would have gotten our food quicker. Of course, as always, there was a lot going on, but the fact that restaurant guests at the table got their food after 10 minutes and we only got it after 60 minutes really annoyed us... Maybe we had a bad day and this was just the absolute exception - I would like to hope so !

the food is great! definitely would recommend:) I tried the biang biang beef and chicken bao and everything was great! It was spicier than i expected (don’t underestimate it like i did) but it was reaaaally good. The only thing is that you have to wait a little bit longer if you want to sit inside🫠

Overcrowded, long waiting times and unfortunately the food is no longer as good as it used to be. Our noodles were simply overcooked and too soft.

Amazing Asian hand-pulled noodles place! Always delicious, constantly knockout taste! Atmosphere: I have been to those places multiple times and have no regrets about each one! The insides of the restaurant are cute. Plus, you can enjoy the exciting open kitchen view. Food: Over time, I've tried: Biang Biang Noodles Beef (B1) and Lamb&Cumin(B2) - I prefer this type of nodules - they are spectacular! Wen Cheng Noodles Beef (W1) and Aubergine&Vegan minced meat(W4). Service: This is a chain restaurant. You can visit several spots in Berlin. The staff is friendly and speaks English and German. Service is extra quick: order, wait 2-5 minutes, and hot and tasty food is in front of you! IMPORTANT: There are no reservations; however, the queue often moves fast. Even for 20 minutes, I would consider waiting and having a meal. Definitely coming back to finish trying all menu positions :)

Fresh hand-pulled noodles with legit Asian spiciness! The beef was super tender but the dish was a bit too oily for my taste. Would still try it again tho!

The delivery address changed automatically without warning, meaning we had to go to the other restaurant 2km away. Just thought that the restaurants might be able to communicate so that they might not find a supplier, no help. If we can't find a phone number anywhere, we're on our way. Spicy food even though we didn't order any and "cutlery" in this shop apparently only means chopsticks, which is quite impractical with the noodles and soup and hardly edible. A colleague of mine said he didn't like the food, so I'll leave a picture of the toilet.

As a Singaporean where it has its fair share of hand-pulled noodle establishments, Wen Cheng is better than most of them. The noodles have the perfect texture and is able to soak up that chili oil with ease. Prepare to queue but turnover can be pretty quick as the food is served almost immediately after ordering. As a place that’s quite fast paced, I was surprised that the service is very pleasant.

Good noodles. But nothing that justifies the price. And even less waiting for almost half an hour in line ... on a Sunday evening no less. TLDR; if this was a bit cheaper and the turnaround a bit quicker, this would be five stars.

Great food, great service (English only) and always delicious. Never been disappointed there. However, you should always expect to wait until you get a table.

Hubby and I ordered beef and lamb biangbiang. Hubby would like to revisit before we departure to next stop. Cumin and lamb one was his fav. I love the flavour however would be nicer if the noodles thinner . As a Chinese , maybe I have a higher standard. Saw the noodle shi fu was making the noodles, he looked tired and so focus. kudos for his great skill! Glad our beautiful food passing and popular across thousands KM away

Ok guys, you may have to queue a little. But the food is beyond delicious. One of my favourites in the city! The noodles and the aubergines are pure heaven.

Really enjoyed this place while we were in Berlin for the day. We ordered and it felt like the food came out like two minutes later. It was so fast for a sit down restaurant! Everyone was so nice here. We were the last people there the night we went so they offered extra food to take home that they were going to have to throw out. The food was so yummy and the kind that I ordered was nice and spicy! Definitely give this place a try if you have time while in Berlin!

Noodles now cost EUR 16.50. That's really too much money for a good, but quite simple meal in a simple snack bar atmosphere.

Price is high for the quality of food and service. And there are just a few options. The place is really small and poorly decorated.

We had the cucumber salad, the chicken bao and the lamb and the aubergine biang noodles. The starters came super fast, both very tasty, esp the cucumber a good addition to the noodles. The noodles themselves less spicy than we thought (we got regular spicy), both very tasty, lamb slightly better even. We watched the chefs prepare the food and they seemed to have a great time! Very fast service. Would I line up again though? Probably not, but defo a great option for delivery!

A place that sells Chinese style wide noodles. There are two bases (Biang Biang!Wen cheng), and each type and price range varies depending on the toppings (meat, tofu, etc.). I liked Piang Piang because it has a spicy and spicy taste, and Wencheng is a little less spicy but has a light taste, so I can eat it without getting tired of it. The staff are fluent in English and the atmosphere is hip. I went right in without waiting around 1pm on a Saturday. Be careful with white clothes because of the red color.

Wow!’ This was a delicious bowl of noodles. The bao are more taco shaped sandwiches rather than the bun style bao. Everything was delicious, the staff were kind, and the seating was comfortable. A big win all around.

We had to wait 20+ minutes to get a table for 4, but it was worthwhile as I really enjoyed their Fried Chicken Bao and Biang Biang Tofu & Shitake. On the downside, the seating here is somewhat limited and the space is quite congested.

It is really delicious but would be wonderful if the portion could be a bit more. The noodle is very close the traditional Chinese type, which is amazing. The staffs are friendly, which makes the experience even better.

Very tasty noodle bowl! Though max spicy was not as spicy as I expected. The appetizer cucumber salad was fantastic. Wait time was not long and service was very quick. Visited in June 2024.

Honestly don’t understand the hype. The food was ok but not mind blowing. And the prices were pretty hefty for that.

So for a small bowl of noodles with beef almost 19 euros - outrageous. It was ok but extremely expensive for a take away and the food was ok but nothing that extraordinary and the price is automatically tacked on if you pay with Visa... that too. Really outrageous

Really top food, really tasty. Unfortunately, you sit quite crowded and not really comfortable indoors. For people with sensitive stomachs, the spiciness is really great. Dogs are welcome 🐕

The portion doesn't look very big, but it's more than filling. Reasonably priced for the area. But I can't understand the long queues in front of the restaurant.

Absolutely fantastic place for hand made noodles . One of the few places in Berlin where you good tasting noodles . The menu is short and simple. The service is very quick .Staff is very friendly. There is always a queue so plan in advance. We have tried their biang biang lamb and cumin noodles. They were delicious . One warning - their spice level is real Asian level . So be careful while ordering. The buns were also pretty tasty. The one issue is sometimes outside tables get little cramped to sit . Otherwise five star place. No street parking in front of the restaurant. Definitely going back .

Horrible service made our experience terrible. We ordered the non spicy noodles and got served the spicy ones. Not knowing the place, we ate some of it and realized that the level of spice was too high, asked the waiter who admitted his mistake and brought us the right noodle (really good food!). At the end of the meal the manager came and made us pay for their mistake, without any understanding and foreseen explanation. Quite unfortunate and unacceptable…

I ordered online with a hot pepperoni (there were 2 and 3) and assumed it would be slightly spicy. ... my mouth and lips burn, I can't enjoy it and I got the hiccups. Sorry, that's not normal, you can't do that. Looking back, the food came extremely quickly... maybe it was a complaint from another guest who found it too spicy, who knows...

As an Asian, i was skeptical of this place but they really surprised me. My only issue is that i’m not a fan of huge noodles, would love it if they have more choice in the noodles (I like small thin ones). Also, I think the beef/lamb (forgot which) is too overpowering, it will go better with minced pork. But i appreciate how tender the meat it. Oh and btw, do not order the bao. I ended up only eating the chicken with my noodles.

The prices have gone too high, it's no longer worth it for a few noodles, it's a shame.

We had to wait in line, but it was definitely worth it! We ordered Biang Biang Lamb & Cumin, Wen Cheng Lamb & Cumin and Cucumber Salad. The pastas were delicious, delicate and perfectly cooked, the lamb - heaven in your mouth, tender, juicy and full of flavor! We especially liked the Biang Biang noodles. I highly recommend it!

I'm a fan of Asian cuisine per se. Last weekend I had the pleasure of trying "Hand Pulled Noodles" for the first time and the first thing I said to myself was "Uuuh, that's nice!" coupled with a completely satisfied and approving head nod 😅. Price-performance was great! The staff friendly, competent and hardworking. A small point of criticism that I have to point out is that you always have to fight for a table (due to popularity). Still doesn't stop me from visiting Weng Cheng when I'm in Berlin again :)

We had both the spicy and non-spicy noodles, as well as the baos. The meat was very tender, and the noodles had just the right amount of bite. The chicken bao was also delicious. Reservations are not possible, so there was a long queue. We waited for 20 minutes. The food was good, but I wouldn't wait for an extended period of time to get them.

It was nice to try the food every 2 or 3 months but last night I ordered and they reduced the meat almost to 1/3 to get more profit; it was noodles and a little meat floating in the sea of oil! If you continue like this, you will lose your customers Mr. Cheng! I hope you reconsider it!

Coming for a couple of years already and must say the food lost quality and amount. Rising prices AND offering less feels a bit like a scam. It's a pity. But TripAdvisor seems to bring lots of tourists, always.

Everybody talks about this place in Berlin because it really is the best! The noodles and beef stew are soooo good along with the bao buns 😍

I found the shop while walking past a few years ago. Hand pulled noodles weren't easy for me to get at that point and the snake spoke for itself. After one bowl I was completely convinced. Afterwards I rode my bike home in the rain and still had a big grin on my face. 10/10 I would have some noodles again.

Yeah it might be overhyped, but even now years later without them doing any changes at all to the menu it’s still simply really really good. Pro tip get a beer from the späti next door. Its byob.

Simple, clear map, but the best noodles in the area. The spiciness should not be underestimated, if you can't handle it much, it's better to order it less spicy. The meat is tender and delicious. But the best thing is the wide noodles. Mega!

Nice place to grab a bite. Noodles are nicely done, love the texture. Only we arrived 30mins before closing, seemed busy but still have places to sit. We were told only for takeaways at this point. I wished they had made it clearer in the website, not when you are already there.

Prices are just absurd now. There are plenty of good alternatives nowadays no reason to give greedy people hard earned money.

An honest product (but now a bit too expensive for the portion) and simply very good Chinese home cooking. The taste could perhaps handle a bit more - chili, garlic and a lot of oil dominate, the delicious braising stock is almost lost (biang biang beef) - but it tastes great and is a lot of fun! Highly recommended version with eggplant too! Tip: The waiting time to eat on site was of course very long. However, take away only took about 20 minutes.
