Wen Cheng 1 in Berlin

Terrible experience. We placed a €60 order via Wolt, and the main dishes — the noodles themselves — were never delivered. All we got were cold, soggy bao buns and a leaking cucumber salad that soaked through the bag. Both Wolt and the restaurant refuse to refund the missing dishes or resolve the issue in any way. This is an absolute failure. -10000/10

We have been a loyal guests of this restaurant for years, and the Wen Cheng Beef was our favourite. During our visit yesterday, however, we were met with an unwelcome surprise: a random tomato-based sauce (???) now drowns the dish. Whoever decided this was an “improvement” clearly doesn’t understand a simple culinary truth: you don’t “fix” a recipe that was never broken. Taking over a beloved restaurant is shouldn’t be an invitation to play experimental chef with its signature dish. Instead of elevating the menu, this change strips it of the very character that kept loyal customers like us coming back. Deeply disappointing. Until the original Wen Cheng Beef returns, we will stay away.

I specifically ordered low-fat noodles, and my boyfriend ordered the regular ones. He got a delicious dish, while I got noodles swimming in broth and fat. In the end, he ate his meal and we went to dinner somewhere else. I couldn't eat mine. It was very greasy and oily, and it felt like the noodles were swimming in oil. A couple of pieces of meat.

Very tasty Biang Biang noodles! The food arrived in about 3 minutes even though the place was packed. Berlin-style friendliness and a modern, rustic atmosphere, with a focus on the essentials (being able to sit down and eat).

I don't really understand the hype surrounding this chain. The wait is comparatively long to get a table. Advance reservations aren't possible because they're probably not desired. After all, a line outside the restaurant makes an impression. But the food is truly outstanding. I can't say anything else. The noodles are extremely tasty, and so is the beef. The dishes are really very authentic, and the chili oil is exactly what you'd expect from a Chinese restaurant. The starters I had were also excellent. Nevertheless, due to the really limited menu and the turnover, the whole thing feels like a mass production operation. The seating is uncomfortable and doesn't really invite you to linger for long. Despite the great food, the prices are unjustified in my opinion. Most of the service staff only speak English.

An absolute highlight in Berlin. Handmade biang biang noodles, full of flavor and prepared with such attention to detail. Every bite is an experience: authentic, fresh, and unique. The vibe in the shop is as strong as the food: lively, modern, and yet full of soul. For me, it's one of the few places in Berlin where you can tell that real passion is at work. My noodles weren’t cooked properly, they were still white and hard like raw flour. So I explained that to the staff, and she replaced with new noodles. But while I was explaining, she just took away my undercooked noodles without saying anything, and I was shocked that she gave me a “bombastic side eye” instead of an apology 😂. I mean it’s not my problem that you need to cooked twice. After waiting a few minutes, my noodles arrived, and with an annoyed face she just put it on my table without saying a single word and quickly walked away. Well whatever…. Anyway the noodles were delicious🫶🏽✨🫶🏽✨🫶🏽✨

I often wondered about the long line at the door as I walked by. Until I decided to go in myself. The food is unique. Top-quality meat, hand-pulled noodles, and the sauce with the perfect blend. The service is world-class. Now I'm a regular. 🫶🏽

The vegan Wen Cheng Noodles with eggplant and vegan mince are incredibly delicious. However, the vegan mince was barely noticeable. The eggplant, however, was all the more of a highlight! The restaurant is a bit cramped inside.

Food was pretty good, but a bit overhyped in my opinion. At first the restaurant seemed quite expensive but the portions are hugeee. So u can easily get lunch and dinner for one portion:) The service was very nice and friendly, so overall would recommend. Plenty vegan options too!

Best hand pulled noodles in the city, fosho! I love the WTF spice oil, the chilly in it has a roasty taste to them that is really unique. The staff is really friendly and prompt to accommodate requests. On hot summer days the inside sitting can feel sweaty and cramped. But if you get a seat outside, it’s perfect.

I think the place is overrated. Yes, the noodles are homemade, but that's about it. The food isn't bad, but otherwise, it doesn't stand out from other similar restaurants. It's also relatively expensive. I'm happy to tip for good service. Here, the service was just average.

Tastes quite good. The waiter was nice, but unfortunately the waitresses were extremely unfriendly. We felt very uncomfortable and won't be going back.

Phew, a truly exciting experience: communication with the staff is only in English, no alcohol served (you can get it from the Späti next door), no cash payments accepted, a rather pared-down atmosphere, outside on the street, although at least an awning protects from the rain. The real highlight for me is the chicken burger. The noodles in meat sauce are delicious, but I don't quite understand the hype about the homemade pasta: store-bought would definitely be just as tasty, but maybe not quite as rubbery. But otherwise, everything was good, spice level 2 is sufficiently stinging. The cucumber salad is also great.

This is my fav restaurant in Berlin. I visit when cheng like once every other week and I love their biang biang tofu noodles. The best part for me the limited menu to choose from and the quality of food that’s offered. If you live in Berlin or are visiting Berlin I highly recommend to visit this restaurant.

Possibly the best Asian food I’ve ever ate! I was speechless. I ordered the not spicy one (when cheng noodles) with beef and extra aubergine (these are insanely good!). Food was delicious, staff super friendly, food comes super fast! Just perfect! There was a line when I was there, but I waited like 20min tops. I think it depends on the day, but it’s worth the wait.

Went here because my friend forced me to go. And it is now becoming my favourite! The broth is really something and the aubergine add-ons are something to die for! One weird thing was that the noodle cut was really big, and I wouldn't call it noodle, more like cut-lasagna. The term "hand pulled" is also different from my expectations, as this definitely use a rolling machine. Just beware as you're enjoying the food, all of your clothes and belongings will smell tasty for a few days 😂

Can’t go wrong! But the prices are pretty inflated nowadays, especially since there are way more independent noodle shops offering very traditional options these days.

I've eaten it N+1 times already. The quality remains consistently good.

The service was good and the staff were very friendly. This chain has several restaurants, and long queues are quite common. However, we chose to sit indoors, and despite the nice weather, we were seated fairly quickly. I found the food to be decent, while the others in my group enjoyed it even more than I did. We tried the tofu bao bun, which I personally think could be skipped. However, the cucumber was a great addition to the rich, oily noodles, it balanced the dish really well. If you haven't tried this particular dish before, I’d definitely recommend giving it a go.

Food and portion size were quite good. Surprising how filling one bowl of noodles can be. Unfortunately the restaurant is quite small and most of the time filled to the prim. Waiting 10 - 20min for a table is quite normal at this place. But it was worth it.

I've tried a lot of food spots, and Weng Cheng is by far my favorite. The Weng Cheng noodles tasted incredibly delicious! The cucumber salad is also incredibly tasty and really fresh. All in all, a very pleasant experience. Thank you.

Wen Cheng 1 in Berlin is the absolute place to be if you like really good hand-pulled noodles – but let's be honest: The beef there? Absolutely fantastic! The noodles are an experience in themselves, nice and chewy, freshly pulled, with plenty of oomph in the sauce, and a generous portion of cilantro. But the beef completely blew me away: incredibly juicy, intensely flavored, and so tender that you almost forget to chew. This isn't a side dish; it's the star of the plate! Yes, the place is hyped – and rightly so. The portions are perfect, and the staff should ideally speak English, but everything was quick. Anyone who's tried the Biang Biang noodles with beef knows: Berlin has a new noodle mecca. You can sit outside, but comfortable is something else entirely. However, I'm happy to accept that!

Basically always solid, unfortunately after eating there yesterday I had severe stomach pain etc.

The food here is delicious, no doubt about it. But we've never experienced such unfriendly service. After an hour, even though we'd just finished our drinks, the card reader was placed on the table and we were told in a very unfriendly tone to pay. We can understand that there are a lot of people waiting in line at Weng Cheng who also want to eat, but to force customers who have just spent €50 on a meal to pay in such a brazen manner is, unfortunately, really not service and could be friendlier. Then you should give the guests time limits or something similar.

Every time I’m in Berlin, this restaurant is a must for me. I always order the lamb and cumin noodles — one of my absolute favorite dishes. The noodles are thick and chewy, just the way I like them, and the flavors are perfectly balanced and absolutely delicious. Since there’s usually a long line, I always order pickup and enjoy it at home — it’s just as amazing. Can’t wait to be back in Berlin to have it again!

The food was great. But given the price and the amount of business the place has to generate (people are always queuing), you'd expect the tables and chairs to be unbroken.

It was the best dish for me during my stay in Berlin. It's properly spicy and has nice chewy texture in the hand pulled noodle. I just wish they had added more mushrooms as I could find only two pieces of shitake... It made me crave for it even after having finished the meal. Very yummy and flavourful! I understand why there's always a queue in this place.

I tried the Biang Biang Eggplant. Overall, it was delicious. Amazing noodles, and the eggplant? Simply wow! But the vegan mince? I had to ask the waitress if it had been forgotten. There was absolutely no way to see or taste it. And it's pretty annoying: the garlic is simply chopped and sprinkled raw on top. If you like it, it's amazing. I wish I'd known this earlier and canceled my order. Hence only 3 stars.

Heard a lot about this place. The noodles for me were pretty thick and chewy if I am honest and the prices quite chunky for the portion sizes. That said the food was very flavourful (I had the lamb and cumin) and the staff very friendly and attentive (even whilst a storm blew in as I was outside). You will have to queue if you time it wrong. Good, but not worth all the hype.

Delicious food, but unfortunately difficult table situation. Inside there are almost only tables for 2, outside there are also tables for up to 4 people. Understandably, a table will only be allocated if the entire group is there. The queues are long. Small menu but it's tasty. The food comes quickly, the staff is nice.

The biang biang noodles were yum but nothing like WOW. imo it’s quite expensive for what you get, also considering the potential long queuing time. Sadly, there were only two small strands of pak choi so would recommend ordering a side dish, e.g. the cucumber salad for some freshness. I like that they have good vegetarian options. They‘ve increased the prices quite a bit and are lwk overhyped imo but def still tastes good! There are better alternative restaurants that are keeping up tho but I know Wen Cheng is THE known biang biang noodle place in town

Well, something fantastic. Fantastic food. The pasta is a piece of cake, hand-kneaded and it dominates the dish. The beef is soft and melts in your mouth. If you are in Berlin, planning a visit, be sure to visit Wen Chen. Important: in the premises you can only pay by card.

Biang Biang noodles with beef and the cucumber salad were ok, not bad but nothing special either. In my opinion it is completely overpriced. But the service was super fast and unobtrusive, so that was a plus point

Best of best in berlin. Everytime i have there food. Its yum. Not even one time they have disappointed. Bao bun and biang biang noodles and weng cheng noodles. I like there lamb more, but my husband like there beef. So it depends on your taste. Dont miss there bao bun anytime

Noodles are delicious, okay 👌. But no service in German. And if you increase the price of Biang noodles by around 50% from €11.50 to €16.50 in 3 years, I find that, to put it mildly, unreasonable.

I don’t get the HYPE at all. As an Asian, I must say the noodle is far from authentic. The spiciness is so plain without fragrance and numbing. The noodle tastes overcooked, un-chewy and watery. There are thousands of ways to get better quality of asian food with better quality. 1 star for their braveness.

Very, very tasty, just unfortunately overhyped. Having to queue up to get something to eat in Prenzlauer Berg is strange, but it's nothing the company can do anything about. I recommend taking something with you, it will save you the annoying waiting time.
