Mao Style Hotpot in Berlin

Leider gab es keine Möglichkeit Dips zu machen. Nur Essig, Sojasoße und vertrocknet Koriander. Schade

Wird als "Bowl" verkauft, ist jedoch ein Hot Pot/Gericht in Suppenbrühe! Waren heute da und mussten das Essen nach einem Bissen leider stehen lassen. Wäre klasse wenn Ihr Angaben darüber machen könnt, was das Gericht wirklich ist - aufjedenfall keine Bowl!

Das Essen war viel zu scharf und hatte einen seltsamen, widerlichen Geruch. Meine Tochter hatte es gekauft, und nachdem ich einen Bissen genommen hatte, konnte ich keinen weiteren mehr essen.

Ein Hot- Pot Imbiss! Simpel ohne Allüren! Habe mir die Zutaten und die Brühe ausgesucht- Zubereitung ca 10min, abholen und genießen im Court! Less hot hat aber schon mich an meine Grenzen gebracht 😂. Danke für die Erfahrung!!

Berlin's favorite spicy hot pot!

Great malatang place in the Manifesto food court. I am not a fan of foof courts, but will go there just to have the malatang with extra spicy broth. Sichuan level spicy is not on the menu, but if you ask, they will make it for you. Super frielndly as well, they'll help you find what you want. The ingredients are all very fresh, apart from some frozen things like fish/meat balls and sometimes the prawns.

Located in the food court of the shopping mall (upstairs) - took me a while to find it. But the taste of Mao Cai is very delicious! You can choose less spicy so it will be durable with garlics. Don’t forget to have noodles or rice! 🍚

A small (but good) selection of broths. The ingredients were very fresh and everything went together very well. The portions were a decent size. The value for money is good.

Great option in high end food hall for Malatang and cooked veggies!

The prices are unclear and if you don't know Hotpot, nothing is explained to you. Objectively, I think it's a shame. Nothing special in terms of quality, the meat looked very good when raw, but when cooked it suddenly became stringy.

It's tastier than Korean mala-tang restaurants??? Especially the beef quality... It's so different from the frozen, dry beef I had in Korea, so I'll have to add more next time I go.

Here you can choose your ingredients, and you pay based on the weight. The rest is choosing your dish spiciness and if you want rice or not. There are many options from seafood, different fishes or shrimps and different types of vegetables as well as noodles. I personally liked the shrimp and the meatballs more than beef but it’s a personal choice I believe The broth is very tasteful and the whole mixture is delicious. Of course, if you’re vegetarian or vegan, you can choose based on your dietary options. There are many options and I believe you can choose whatever you want. I can recommend this place to anyone who wants to try Chinese style hot pot and enjoy very hot dish in the cold Berlin winter.

Absolutely phenomenally good shop. You can choose your own ingredients, and they're weighed. You also choose the broth. This means: hot pot with only the ingredients you really like, and the quantity is unimportant. Super friendly. The ingredients are super fresh—you choose them yourself and it's obvious. The price is completely reasonable for the quality. Once you've handed over the ingredients, it doesn't take long before it's transformed into a hot pot. Highly recommended. Warning: "little spicy" (a bit hot) is what I would call European medium-hot. You can get free chili oil, so start with the little spicy option ☺️

Maocai (Chinese: 冒菜; pinyin: màocài) is a stew-like dish originating from the Chinese city of Chengdu, Sichuan. It consists of a variety of vegetables, as well as meat and/or fish, in a broth made with mala sauce. While similar to the hot pot styles common in this region, its main difference is that the ingredients are already cooked when served, so there is no slow cooking at the table. I highly recommend it!

Don't want to be that guy, but hey, you can cook the same at home. Boiled cabbage, chicken, tofu, and 2-3 different mushrooms. That original stock is a bit watery for me, even though it is delicious, you can make the same at home. 10 minutes and 12 euros for that. Nah I'll skip this place next time. Can do better at home with a YouTube tutorial and premade store bought products in like 30 minutes. Oh and also served in a chipped bowl. I was not okay with that, but this is for the Manifesto place to look after their dishes.

Very friendly and helpful staff and great experience. I would recommend for the experience as it is super fun as you can build your own key ingredients, charged by total food weight and choose different broth base or dry mix. Took a star off due to the dry mix I had was too salty for my liking - next time I will ask for milder flavours.

I really did not enjoy the food too much here. The selection was not that great. There was just one fridge with some ingredients other places in Berlin have a much bigger selection. When we were there, there wasn’t even any fried tofu which i think is a pretty standard thing but there were other kinds of tofu like raw tofu or tofu sheets. The broths are not clearly labelled if they’re vegan or not. The tomato broth had a kind of fishy taste but it might’ve just been the seaweed they put in it for some reason. Overall the tomato broth was watery and oily and fishy but didn’t taste much of tomatoes to me. There is also no sauce bar! They only had soy sauce and vinegar and cilantro. Having a good sauce is kind of crucial for hot pot. to not have it, was a bummer. The price was standard I think it was around 3€/100g or a little more just like other places in Berlin. It is inside a mall so it’s not fair to judge the atmosphere. I used to work around here so it’s a good option for when there’s no other options but if you’re looking to try malatang on your off day there’s better places in Berlin.

Hot pot was SO GOOD - loved being able to pick my own toppings, got to try a little bit of everything - the ingredients felt fresh (and I didn't get sick) so 5/5 It is on the second floor of a food hall/court in an indoor mall type thing.

Surprised with how good this hot pot is for this area of Berlin! You have a plastic bowl and pick out all the ingredients you want. Good selection of seafood, vegetables and meats. You pay for the weight. My meal was 15€ for a normal sized bowl. If you eat a lot, maybe expect it to cost 16-18€. The classic spicy soup base was delicious for me. The spice has a great punch, and you can choose between 3 levels of spiciness if you want less or more. If you feel like hotpot and you’re in potsdamer platz, this is a good option :)

Super delicious food! Location is a designed food court, which is something you should know. We really liked it, including very nice staff. Lovely again!

A nice restaurant in Food Market in Potsdamer Straße ( 0 floor). There are so many food choices offered in the market and you can order different food at the same time. The hotpot is called Maocai in China, as an authentic Chengdu people from China, the food is not spicy enough for me, but I guess it’s enough for western people, the only thing is that it is little salty, which cause you thirsty. Besides, you can add more seasonings on your preferences which is awesome, I added more chili and garlic, which made it more spicy. Today I went there little bit late, the rice and the first choice( spicy beef set) sold out which is a pity. But I think I will come next time to try some more. And also they have vegan food, that is awesome for some vegetarian people! This market is really nice, as you can order different food with friends and share with each other

The quantity of Mao Cai in this shop is small and the taste is average, a little spicy at most. It's really unbelievable that they charge two euros extra for a small bowl of rice. The entire website looks like it was created by a shady company. Initially I thought it was a fancy hot pot shop, but it turned out to be a tiny, run down stall/takeaway. In addition, the website charges everyone a reservation fee of 7 euros, which is really absurd and extremely outrageous.

We wait long time to have the soup, people stand around not working, when we asked they was bad smile and then they start to make it. Then we had even hair inside. Not recommend this one . Sorry.

Màocài is a stew-like dish originating from Chengdu, Sichuan, China. It is composed of a variety of vegetables as well as meat or fish in a stock made of málà sauce. Although it is similar to styles of hot pot common in the Sichuan region, its chief difference lies in the fact that the ingredients are already cooked when served, and hence no simmering is done at the table. The "S1 spicy beef" included marinated beef, spam, imitation crab, lotus root, enoki mushrooms, seaweed, tofu, yuba, broccoli, beansprouts, rice vermicelli noodles, and many more. The goal is to have as many ingredients as possible—variety is the spice of life. The broth is spicy but lacks Sichuan peppercorns so it's not really málà (numbing spicy), just là (spicy).

I heartily recommend the beef noodles.It was flavourful with tender meat. The portion was not filling and can be increased. The hotpot was not that impressive .The broth lacked flavours and wasn't really 'hot' and we didnot enjoy the contents either .

Don’t understand the bad ratings at all. The tomato based hotpot was so delicious, for a moment I felt like I’m back at home in China. Would definitely come back again!

there's a lot good Sichuan Food in Berlin, not worth it

终于来打卡了吃manifesto，冒菜比我想象中的好吃，甚至可以说比我们村的麻辣烫好吃多了，至少有辣味，是香的辣味而不是单纯的咸。价格确实略贵，属于想吃点汤汤水水时候的快速选择。

Leckere Gerichte. Bis jetzt war alles immer super. Etwas teuer für ein bisschen kleine Portionen.

很好吃的小火鍋，我和朋友一人素鍋一人肉鍋，種類豐富，價錢也很合理。還會再次光顧。

老板很nice，但是冒菜味道非常非常一般，根本不值这个价，来这完全就是吃个环境了。 加了两三片鸭血花了17.3欧。牛肉就几小片，而且不是那种嫩滑的，是腌制但裹了一层厚水淀粉，吃起来都有淀粉颗粒感了。四川街边的那种麻辣味完全吃不出来，红油也不够香。 有人说在柏林能吃上冒菜不错了，要啥自行车啊，那么我花这钱还不如去Liu成都味道点一份面，再或者直接亚超速食冒菜也味道比这个好啊。

Super schmeckendes Essen, super nettes Personal! Wir finden, dass es in dem Lokal an nichts fehlt. Wer also nach authentischen chinesischen Essen sucht, ist hier genau richtig ! Sehr zu empfehlen.

Mao Style pot from Sichuan, we tried in the Playce food court in Berlin Potsdamer Platz, spicy beef bowl, it was very delicious with many different noodles, beef, vegetables, quail eggs, tofu etc. Enjoyed also the Chinese ice tea.

第一次在德国吃到冒菜，麻辣刺激，很有中国的味道，感觉回到了四川。

The quantity is small and the taste is average, not worth recommending. 冒菜是什么高级的东西吗卖那么贵，几片肉，19.8€还舍不得给两片鸭血。

趁着中午刚开人少的时候去的，都是现做的，也要等一会才能拿到菜。 味道一般，食材还行，我吃的羊肉（加川粉）朋友点的麻辣牛肉（加鸭血）的，麻辣牛肉的更好吃。汤底辣度够了，但是感觉汤味不浓。赠送的米饭就是一般中餐的米饭，略硬，不是香米。 赠了两杯饮料，一共花43.5，可以刷卡，这顿饭量小的人肯定够吃，可惜我饭量大。 新装修的商场里价格高能理解。需要自己多赚钱才能配得上这里～
